Love Cillian. But what a lovely friend he has in Emily, she’s clearly more comfortable in front of the camera for interviews than he is, and (I think at least!) being genuine with her comments. Great friendship there I gather. Lovely to see, they’ve always worked so well and naturally with one another, both great at their craft.
At first, I thought that Emily Blunt was talking negatively about Cillian Murphy. Now, I understand that she was complementing how extraordinary he is and that it's a shame that he doesn't see that in himself. Cillian truly is a legend.
I don't think she necessarily thinks it's a shame that he doesn't see it. That's just who he is, like she said he's always looking forward... Not seeing it or pausing to acknowledge it is probably what allows him to perpetually continue to improve and what makes him one of the greats.
Cillian Murphy's lack of ego is what makes him great. If he did start to believe it, he'd become complacent. True greatness doesn't need to prove itself.
Love her saying "he turns it on and off, he's that good." I remember Christian Bale when asked about staying in character, as if it's some pretentious thing to do, humbly saying "I'm just not good enough an actor to be able to do it a different way." If Cillian can, that's really impressive.
This has got to be the best interview I’ve ever watched. The host is honest, direct, calm and serious. There’s no interruptions or overlapping on the conversations and he just lets Emily tell it it for what it is without loud sarcasm and humor!!!
Lot's of comments like this, about the seriousness of the interviewer. He's just old school. That's the kind of Walter Cronkite style new presenters and interviewers tried to emulate; everything treated with solemnity. The guy is probably used to covering much less trivial topics than movies, and remember, this one is about the invention of the nuclear bomb, which is a very grave development, so he's probably stuck in that mode.
I first was exposed to Cillian during the Peaky Blinders series . Not only was he an amazing actor he was really earning his paycheck . Between the fight scenes , rolling in the mud , shots in the rain and the intense makup applications he had some truly miserable days on set . That's the highest compliment anyone could get in Tinseltown.
Oppenheimer was a collection of some high class elite actors. It's something you rarely see from time to time. Which shows you they still have the package to outcompete any movie industry, and you realise the challenge remains with story and intellectual content.
😊🙏 " Cillian Murphy is a Great Actor of the World but is the Worse Celebrity in the World! " >>> That's a very high compliment coming from a Great Actress herself indeed : Emily Blunt! 🌷🌿🌍✌💜🕊🇬🇧
Humbleness. ❤
I believe that Cillian is humbling these celebrities who think that acting is about the glitz and glam. Cillian understands the assignment. He simply does what he loves very well and then goes home to his wife of many years. Hollywood needs to learn from him.
I first saw Cillian Murphy in Breakfast on Pluto, he instantly reached out and hauled me forcefully into the film... spellbinding characterisation!
I think Emily has a crush on Cillian.
I agree with Emily on all her points. If you want to see Cillian in an extraordinary film, check out "Anthropoid". He's remarkable in that film, also.
He is absolutely my favorit actor. This man is GOOD.
Interviewer at Target clothing section: Do you have Fruit of the Loom..........in a men's medium? (folds glasses and thoughtfully holds them in his hand) Perhaps in a medium? (breathes contemplatively).
I love Sunshine it's one of my top 5 sci fi movies, and Cillian does great in it.
Emily: "He's my favorite actor I've ever worked with."
John Krasinski: "Ouch."
