For season 2, Ben Barns wanted more makeup for the face injuries to fit in line with the comic book jigsaw, however the studio did not want to hide Ben Barns face because the studio thought they would lose money if they didn't show his face. Ben Barns has said that he would return to the role if they would put the right amount of make up for the facial injuries.
Honestly when will studios learn we don't give a shit about an actors face in comic book shit. Especially when barely anyone recognizes them in the first place.
Thomas Jane made Dirty Laundry to attempt to sell the studios on letting him make his own Punisher sequel. This is The Punisher that Thomas Jane wanted to bring to life. He is a fan and didn’t care for the campiness in the first film. Surprised you didn’t mention any of that
21:25 Speaking of scream-acting, one of my favorite performances is in Half-Life 2. The Headcrab zombies sound absolutely terrifying, even more so when you reverse the audio and realize the moaning, screaming gibberish is actually somebody's pleas for help
Ben Barnes deserves a ton of credit for helping sell that scene. I wish I could see it for the first time again. It's so realistic that it makes the scene so much more viceral. The fact he scared everyone, including Jon Bernthal proves he absolutely nailed it.
Hello Fact Fiend my old friend. You've come to speak to us again A channel that I had been missing Has returned with a new new upload With a vision to inform and entertain. May you remain. To fill the sound of silence
One of my favorite examples of scream acting I’ve come across as of late was Shinji Ikari in End of Evangelion when he finds Asuka’s Eva just absolutely mangled, disfigured, and butchered, and then he realizes that the same happened to her. Absolutely incredible performance
Aside from Thomas Jane's voice work, his Punisher in the "Dirty Laundry" short movie is the only real competition for Bernthal. He was outstanding in that, and it showed how good it *could* have been, without the cartoonish elements in the movie. I really liked his portrayal.
As someone who's been watching your videos since late 2017? maybe 2018 I'm so so so happy that you took some time for yourselves. But I've also missed the laid back and real attitude of your videos!
I'm surprised you didn't mention the scene in the Thomas Jane Punisher where they mixed up the stunt knife with the real knife and the Russian guy got stabbed in the shoulder for real.
In season 2 isn't it implied that Russo got has had at least one surgery to fix what Punisher did to him? His psyche believes that he looks much worse.
Jon does the best job as the Punisher! Yes the scene with Daredevil when Frank says something along the lines of ' you knock them down, when I deal with them they don't get back up'
One of my favorite things about Jon Bernthal is that he has used the fame he's gained from his many roles as toxic characters to address the issue of toxic masculinity.
And you can't get more aggressively masculine than John Bernthal playing an absolute unit of a psychopath so he's got a strong voice to use in addressing it.
Missed you guys, thanks for the content! It’s always welcomed and it’s my favorite way to stay occupied and learn something while doing my menial tasks at work.
I think possibly my favorite scream acting (Off the top of my head) is Samara Weaving in Ready or Not, the one at the end *Spoilers* when she moves out of the way of the heart stab and gets hit in the shoulder and she rolls off the table pulling the knife out and wielding it wildly towards the family, the just sheer Anger, Terror, Anguish and so many other emotions conveyed by that scream really just hits you hard.
There was something like that in the film Dance Me to My Song, which is about a woman with severe cerebral palsy, written by and starring Heather Rose, who had the same condition and died four years later. In one scene, her sadistic carer pushes her wheelchair over, causing her to fall to the floor. With her limited movement and unable to communicate verbally without her keyboard, Rose conveyed the terror and helplessness of her situation, and everyone was thinking "wow, she's nailing this", until someone said "no, something's gone wrong" and helped her up. Nobody had any frame of reference for what was happening, so they didn't know it was just a performance.
In a comic book arc, it was stated that Frank had an amazing kill/survive ratio, where only 1 to 2 percent survived his attacks. A man with a mission, willpower and the skills to get it done.
Didnt even realise fact fiend was back until i searched for the bean wars video to find the exact price it went to earlier today. Always love the content and respect the return with no promises for how long.
18:01 - makes me think of some versions of Dr Doom where the disfiguring scar that prompted him to put his mask on was just a little cut, but his ego is so big that he could only see it as disfiguring. And ironically, usually he’s so impatient to put his mask on, that he does it while the metal is still red hot, which does end up completely disfiguring his face as a result.
Favorite scream in a movie is in Boondock Saints when the russian goons are taking Murph away in the beginning while Connor is handcuffed to the toilet. And he RIPS THE TOILET OUT OF THE FLOOR. Aleays gives me goosebumps. You dont fuck with family.
That scream he does getting his face dragged across the broken mirror is genuinely one of the best acted screams i think I've ever heard... i would be shitting my pants if i were the director
Thomas Jane will always be my favourite Punisher because I feel he looks more like the character than Jon Bernthal and dirty laundry just shows how well he could've played that role. Also notable scream: lately, I'd say the absurdist comedy animation Smiling Friends gives us some real good screams.
Punisher: *Drags Billy’s face down a mirror. Billy’s face looks fine with three papercuts.* - Rocket: *Disfigures The High Evolutionary’s face with his raccoon hands. H.E loses all of his face and replaces it with a false one.* - Never underestimate the scratches of a raccoon. Extra: There is cute scream-acting “EXPLOSION!!” -Megumin, KonoSuba sub “Justice will be swift! Justice will be painful!!…It will be DELICIOUS!!” -Ruby, RWBY (Best of that line being in that one RWBY game.)
My examples might not be scream acting per se, but the principle is the same. I've been singing with growls and screamos for over a decade and the range of emotions you have to learn to express with those styles is unreal from time to time and usually when we're recording, the feedback of the takes might go something like "Okay, in this and this part I'd like you to sound like you're burning alive". In death/Black metal, and other extreme metal genres the vocals have so insane amounts of emotions behind them that I feel those genres are very much overlooked from casual perspective. Some different examples from very different bands could be: Eternal Darkness by Wintersun where the profile is describing the manifestation of death and darkness that kills everything in autumn. The Chosen Pessimist by In Flames where the vocals represent utterly devastating self doubt and desperation. Given up by Linkin Park, Suicidal cry for help
In highschool, me and my friends filmed a short movie. One scene called for a girl to sit still and mourn. She did such an awesome job crying and being lonely, everyone on set had to hug her afterwards. She was just like "Ya, you said cry, so I did."
Hope whatever brought you back goes well, still a pleasant suprise to see another video though. Also, imagine Andrew Lincoln getting cast to come in for a season as 'The Holy' crazy priest with a hatchet, to fight Bernthal in one big scene.
I'm just glad Punisher's back in Daredevil: Born Again. And if we're talking scream-acting, we have to shout out Kratos, both Greek and Norse eras. TC Carson did a phenomenal job, and my particular favorite is from Ghost of Sparta, when he sees Deimos get killed. It's so incredibly primal to a point it make you feel uncomfortable. Chris Judge on the other hand has a more focused fury when it comes to his screams. Like, the bit when broke Thor's tooth, and you just see a hint of his Greek Era, where you know he was going to lose all sense of self, and then he had to breathe and tone it back down, because of his discipline and control.
Cheers for watching, support Lucas at this link - www.youtube.com/@wikiweekends/videos

Karl, that green screen is not very effective... usually, they are supposed to be plain green.. :D
I am insulted that you would ask such a thing.
Of course we are subscribed to wiki weekend
For season 2, Ben Barns wanted more makeup for the face injuries to fit in line with the comic book jigsaw, however the studio did not want to hide Ben Barns face because the studio thought they would lose money if they didn't show his face. Classic. Actor wants to do their craft and depict character decently, marketing-addled brains in charge want pretty man on promo
Yeah I was disappointed with how well he healed, other characters reactions to his scars didn't feel right
Honestly when will studios learn we don't give a shit about an actors face in comic book shit. Especially when barely anyone recognizes them in the first place.
Missed oppurnity.
And yet, I'm sure he took lots of shit for it unfairly.
Ben Barnes' scream was so good. You almost feel his pain as he's being scraped down the broken mirror.
This is never not gonna be surreal but welcome back y'all 💜💜💜
So glad to see them back!🎉
But they never really left with wiki weekend being so similar
@@jimmythumbtack oh yeah, but the new notifications from the actual Fact Fiend channel are always gonna throw me for a loop lmao
@@FoxInferno13 I feel you. I mostly miss the old crew ;_;. Get that bag then get that old crew back please.

Fact Fiend retirement was short lived lol
fantastic profile picture :]

Dirty Laundry is so, so good.
"What mortgage payments?" 🤣🤣
Do you think it got fun again?
21:25 Speaking of scream-acting, one of my favorite performances is in Half-Life 2. The Headcrab zombies sound absolutely terrifying, even more so when you reverse the audio and realize the moaning, screaming gibberish is actually somebody's pleas for help

"He looks a little short" Into "Just a bit too grounded." I see you editor....powerful punwork there.
Scream of Note: Guts during the Eclipse. rage is his while life but when he truly is powerless to do anything but struggle its next fucking level!
I'm not sure what mortgage payments or other bills brought you all back, but I'm just happy to see you all again!
Scream of Note: Ed Harris in Abyss, the resuscitation scene. He screamed until his throat was bleeding and you hear it completely break.
Tom Janes performance of Frank Castle in the youtube fan film Dirty Laundry was awesome and the cameo from Ron Pearlman makes it even better.
Welcome back old friends
These kind of videos about niche stuff in the mainstream is why I fell in love with this channel. Long may it remain!!!
Hello Fact Fiend my old friend.
You've come to speak to us again
A channel that I had been missing
Has returned with a new new upload
With a vision to inform and entertain.
May you remain.
To fill the sound of silence
Ive missed these guys so much, I've never clicked on a notification so fast
You could have followed Wiki Weekends' channel as well.
Tom gets credit for getting stitches, and she was really doin it.
Fucking welcome back lads
There was no break (I just rewatched a lot fact fiend) that and top ten content with karl small wood, love from Mexico
One of my favorite examples of scream acting I’ve come across as of late was Shinji Ikari in End of Evangelion when he finds Asuka’s Eva just absolutely mangled, disfigured, and butchered, and then he realizes that the same happened to her. Absolutely incredible performance
No one reholsters a gun like Ray Stevenson, seriously just watch the first fight, dude jams those pistols into his chest holsters like a boss
Aside from Thomas Jane's voice work, his Punisher in the "Dirty Laundry" short movie is the only real competition for Bernthal. He was outstanding in that, and it showed how good it *could* have been, without the cartoonish elements in the movie. I really liked his portrayal.
Bernthal cited Dirty Laundry as his best source of inspiration.
That bootleg was all I could think about when you brought up punisher. Fucking loved that short
Scream of Note: Schwarzenegger, covered in mud, calling out a challenge to the Predator.
I remember the '80s Punisher. I had a VHS copy back in the day.
yay more good videoes in my feed! Hope you enjoyed your break you deserved it!
As someone who's been watching your videos since late 2017? maybe 2018 I'm so so so happy that you took some time for yourselves. But I've also missed the laid back and real attitude of your videos!
Jigsaw should have been more disfigured in Punisher season 2.
Hearing "Lucus" in the intro threw me through a slipstream
Same tho, is it just me or did you get a feeling just from the thumbnail
@@pocket7935 no, i opened it, like, 4 mins after it was posted and was psyched
I love it that you guys are back your channel really helped a couple of years ago when I was in hospital being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
I'm surprised you didn't mention the scene in the Thomas Jane Punisher where they mixed up the stunt knife with the real knife and the Russian guy got stabbed in the shoulder for real.
Liked the photos piling up in the background better. Differentiated this channel from others.
In season 2 isn't it implied that Russo got has had at least one surgery to fix what Punisher did to him? His psyche believes that he looks much worse.
Jon does the best job as the Punisher!
Yes the scene with Daredevil when Frank says something along the lines of ' you knock them down, when I deal with them they don't get back up'
I got chills from his delivery of this line. I couldn’t imagine anyone else being the punisher at this point🥶
So happy you guys are back after absolutely nothing happened
So happy to see y’all back, but i really hope everyone’s enjoying being back as much as we are!!! Love to see the green light substitute too.
ah so happy to see such a great channel be able to keep up and not need to take breaks to pay mortgages

I didn't realise that this is fact fiend and not wiki weekend until you guys said it

Honestly, Neytiri's scream when Spider's hiding from her in the way of water is terrifying cause she really appeared alien
Taking a moment to reflect on how a simple green screen gag became an entire channel aesthetic. Appreciate you guys so much. ❤
Huh, I really thought that was the end. Welp, good thing I didn't unsubscribe!
I feel like if you break into the house of a super spy it should be empty, because he would know you were coming.
good to get my Fact Fiend Fix again
I'm glad you're back.
I really liked the original 90s Punisher movie. I was 12 or 13 and i only hated that we never saw the iconic skull on his chest
Hooray! good to see you back
Daredevil scream at the end of season 3 was just pure frustration
Return of the king 👑

The scenes you are allowed to show go so hard that I feel a re-watch is in order.
Scream acting: Home Alone. It's not only a mime, but perfectly done
I remember the 80's punisher. I liked it as a kid from the 80's.

“Justice will be swift! Justice will be painful!!…It will be DELICIOUS!!” -Ruby, RWBY
(Best of that line being in that one RWBY game.)
holy shit fact fiend has returned from a break that totally absolutely never ever happened
The best scream acting in history hands down goes to hellblade 1 when Senua has the flashback sequence of finding her widow absolutely visceral
Im not complaining, but i thought you guys were done with this? So happy to have more FunFacts to share!
To hear Karl and Lucas talk about scream acting and not mention either Louis Griffin or Morpheus... I'm just glad to see some action here again!
