    videos look great!!! Have you tried the upscaler in studio?

    • @davidsilberhorn
      @davidsilberhorn  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much, yes I will use the upscaler for my new video. Sometimes the tool produces very good results, but if the resolution is already at 6K, then the difference is hardly noticeable and hardly worth it.

    Did you also do any tutorials on how to use the Gopro 12 at night?
    Even with Gopro labs?
    Thank you.

      Unfortunately I didn't buy a GoPro 12 because the camera is not better than the GoPro 11, but maybe I will create a tutorial about it. Thanks for the tip! I would be very happy about a subscription. Have a nice day.

    I used to use the same method when I filmed at 1080P, exported with Davinci to 4K, and TH-cam increased my bandwidth in mps.
    Now that I shoot in 4K with Gopro 12, in Davinci Studio I will export in 8K as you recommended.
    Thank you.

    Man I love your videos from GoPro in HDR!!
    I just bought an 11 black, installed labs firmware and have been playing around.
    I’m super amazed with your hdr videos, I’ve been trying that with no luck.
    Would you mind giving me some guidance?
    I shoot my videos at 5.3k at 200mbps, Logb=400, Wide=1, 10-bit color
    But for editing and exporting I have no idea of what color management settings I need to use.
    I’ve tried with an input gamut of rec2020 and output of st2084 1000nits, I activate the HDR metadata but not getting similar results.
    I would really appreciate if you could give me an approach on your workflow!!

      Rec 2020 and st2084 1000 nit is actually correct. I don't know what you're doing wrong. I always recommend using a calibrated HDR screen that is also able to cover the color space and brightness in the best possible way.

    Hey David! I've recently moved over to windows and I've had to change my whole video processing workflow. I'm having trouble with gamma shift issues between what I see in the preview window when colour grading, and the exported video. I'm wanting to export the footage with HDR tone mapping. I was wondering if you could share your colour management project settings? I've been working on this for months but there's always been a difference in the preview window and the final video.

    • @davidsilberhorn
      @davidsilberhorn  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I use bt.2020 as input, timeline and output color space and I use st2084 or HLG as gamma curve. But it could also be due to the setting "data levels" = "full". I have noticed that the image differs from the final result in the "full" setting. I recommend that you use "Video" for the timeline and output setting! However, your problem may also be due to chroma subsampling. I always use the same chroma subsampling for timeline and export: 444 or 422 or 420. I use tone mapping to convert hdr to sdr. For the video here I used hdr vivid. I hope this will help you.

    If you don't want to loose info (pixels), why don't you render to the original 5.3 k? Whats the point to upscale to 8k?

    • @davidsilberhorn
      @davidsilberhorn  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      TH-cam does not support resolutions like 5.3K or 6K because the official resolutions are 4K or 8K. TH-cam would only recognize the 5.3K video as 4K and the video would get the vp09 codec and not the av01. If you want to play the video directly then you can export the video in 5.3K.

    Why don't you start with the 8K timeline?

    • @davidsilberhorn
      @davidsilberhorn  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you have an extremely good computer, you can edit your shots directly on an 8K timeline. I usually work with a 720p timeline for editing and a 4K or 8K timeline for color grading. So I only use the minimum necessary performance. I honestly don't know what kind of PC you need to be able to play 8K directly in the timeline.

    • @JaydenLawson
      @JaydenLawson 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@davidsilberhorn I see, so it make no difference because once you set the export video size - it uses the original video quality anyway (5.3k and up scales it). I was thinking that you may be losing quality, but your probably don’t.

    But then the 8k doesn't come from GoPro it's just upscaling with software ! So when you say you use all the sensor pixels, you are wrong...

    • @davidsilberhorn
      @davidsilberhorn  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, I'm not wrong! Suppose I were to export a 5.3K shot to 4K. What happens to the pixels then? Many pixels are simply not used, even though the pixels are present in the original shot. If I upscale the 5.3K shot to 8K, then all the pixels are upscaled to the higher resolution. This has some advantages, which I also explain in the video! I have done some tests myself, so this knowledge is not just made up, you can clearly see an improvement in quality.
