I bought a Roscoe 8 from Broomfield store last weekend. Nice people working there, but they wouldn’t let me test ride it like you did. I’m glad TH-cam served up your video.
Just got a 2022 roscoe 8 a week ago and got my 5 year old son the trek precaliber 20 in 7 speed. Both of us are loving the new bikes so far. Riding daily with the bikes and he’s learning to ride on some beginner trails
Bought a Trek Roscoe 8 today!!! Absolutely love your videos and how you shine light on the Roscoe line. I am definitely out biked for many years to come
I have the Roscoe 8 in Blue, and ride the heck out of it on hills, rock gardens and roots. You are correct in thinking that this bike is playful on the trails. It puts a smile on my face every time I ride it.
First time I leave a comment but had to. Got my Roscoe 8 (same size and color) a month ago and so glad I did. I had also tried the fuse but as soon as I tried the Roscoe, it just fit. Goes over roots like my fat bike and basically exceeded my expectations. Tested it on a trail called Whitetail in Fundy national park over the weekend...it left me with a smile. Worth it.
Thanks for the video, I’ve just bought the Roscoe 8 in blue and have added the GX AXS upgrade kit, it’s awesome. It’s got good stopping power, being a 4 piston brake set and I find it climbs really well. I’m really happy with my purchase and IMHO, I think the 8 is the best value out of the Roscoe line up.
I’m pretty late here but I got the 2024 and it feels fantastic, not sure what all is upgraded from the 2022 but you weren’t kidding about the playfulness. It feels like it can go anywhere, perfect for the trail or an urban free ride. It can handle some pretty basic trials skills too.
This is my first mountain bike and I got my '22 Roscoe 8 in Mulsanne Blue in a large. Haven't hit any trails yet but, the way it rides, I like it alot. So I say get it.
Hello Matty. My bikes : Roscoe 7, SE Maniacc Flyer and.......just could not resisted two days ago got Trek Farley 7. Was thinking to sale some, but can't , love them all. Thank you for nice reviews and you lucky man have Trek store in right your area.
Hey Matty. Not sure if you bought it or not, but I just bought Roscoe 8 size M today. I'm around 5'7. This bike is a BEAST! I had bought Marlin 7 in March and I was not getting the confidence riding it on trails. I also had an accident while going a little downhill, I actually flipped lol. I'm a newbie though. But with this bike, I'm looking forward to learning proper mountain biking
Me personally, I would put some coin down on the 2022 roscoe and put the other roscoe up for sale. I watched both videos and you seem far more enthusiastic about the roscoe 8 than the specialized.
The Gold 35 fork on the Roscoe has thicker stanchions and will have less flex. The fork also complements the more slack headtube angle of the Roscoe. The Specialized Fuse Comp however sounds like it would be better for speed on flats and control in climbs but the Roscoe seems lighter and better set up for quick response and descending. Personally I'd go with the Specialized because I've had one too many shoulder surgeries to really take advantage of the aggressive geo on the Roscoe but you look like a better rider than I am.
I have a Roscoe 8 on order - since 04/2021! Initially it was the '21 model and I was very happy to get the dealer call to change to the updated geometry 2022 when that was announced. The wait is painful though. One very cool thing on this bike is the ability to purchase the GX AXS wireless upgrade kit. Although that does make this a nearly $3K aluminum hard tail.
Love my 2021 Roscoe 8. Put a couple minor upgrades: RaceFace carbon handlebars, orange Diety pedals with little spikes to keep your fee locked on. I'm not ready for clip ins yet. And the shop had upgraded the rear derailer. It's an amazing bike.
People don't get that most hardtails come with essentially hybrid tires. Road and some light trail. Not the roscoe. Love those plus sized tires. Ready for whatever. Love it.
Roscoe is the most fun bike I've ever owned, i agree with you 100%. Front shock probably needs to be set for your weight. That red writing really pops too. #vibesback
I went to Trek Broomfield for my last bike. Great place, cool seeing you ride around the same area lol. Now I'm eyeing the Roscoe 7. Not sure if I have the courage to hit that staircase but man you made it look so easy!
Hvae the same bike myself in a large waited 6 months for it totally with it I wanted the blue ended up with the green I love it already started with the upgrades with new carbon bars a new stem
Great Review.. IMO stay with Trek and get the Roscoe 7 and upgrade the components yourself (The upgrade videos would be awesome)! As you know, I have the 2021 Roscoe 6 and have upgraded EVERY component (ALL SRAM / Rockshox AXS).. Keep the reviews coming…
@@alistermccallum yessir, none of the new ones were in stock and she needed a good starter bike. It’ll do everything she needs. I’ll get her on a 7,8, or 9 later when in stock.

How is it on the road?im thinking of getting this or the x caliber 9 I will be using it on road and trails but I’ve herd the roscoe is not very good on the road would love to hear what you think of it cheers.
@@MattyActive Happy to help out! Your early videos are what got me started on MTB early last year with the Marlin 6. Now I’ve upgraded a couple times and ride a Fuel EX but also curious about the Roscoe as the hardtails are still pure fun.
great video yeah like i said in the last video switch from full sus to aggressive hardtail and have no regrets its fun to climb easier and learn new smooth lines on and hardtail again, just uploaded a new video on my hardtail, still like the fuse a little better though but u should get the trek fits you perfect and its still has the same aggressive style like the fuse comp 29
I’m just getting into biking and could not tell a difference between a good and a bad mountain bike, but the guy in the store made this bike sound so good that I just bought one today for myself. Just hoping it was worth it.
You are 5.8' What is your inseam? I am trying to determine if the med/large is what I need to go with and I am right in the middle of the sizing chart of the M to M/LG size bike
I like your vibe! 😎 Keep it up. I have also decided to stick with a Hardtail. Started on a Cube Reaction C62 Pro and it was a rocket ship 🚀 but to sketchy downhill. currently I settled down for an Orbea Laufey H10 and I love it. If possible, I will get a Stanton Sherpa one day. Or maybe a sour crumble 😊
Glad to see you getting your mojo back! I'm curious if they set the bikes up for your weight when you test them out. You mentioned the Specialized had soft tires, which will change the way it feels of course. The fork on the Rosco looked a little soft to me, but it's hard to tell on the video. I think it's a great bike, and really you only need one hard tail, so sell the other Roscoe and even the Marlin and get the bike you want. You have an e-bike for the road if you want it, a hard tail and full suspension, you really don't need to keep the duplicates. Too much pressure to not neglect any of them!
So I have the fuse because it fits my type riding and I have my enduro bike for the crazy big rides. So I would say that the roscoe would be a great for the type of riding you’re doing. Good upgrade from you’re other bikes.
Great video, thanks! I ride the Farley 9.6 and I had the Stache 7. The Stache was the best bike I have ever ridden, so fun! I would go for the Roscoe for sure. In my Farley I have just one complaint, it is the GX shifter. I will update some day, other than that, the rear derailleur is great.
I just got the 2023 roscoe 8 in blue. My only upgrades I think it could use is a xo1 shifter for the multi shift. Then maybe some better brakes. Brakes on it are good but could be better. I love hardtails they are so much more fun to me.
I returned my roscoe 8, I loved it (especially the frame) but not enough top speed for me and the fork is too heavy imo. You should def get that Roscoe Matty
My first bikes were marlins so my love for the cross country hardtails pointed me towards xcaliber 9, my only worry is the frame is a bit outdated as far as axles go.
I had the same issue with the 2021 Roscoe 8, not enough top speed. You could upgrade to a 32T chainring and also change the freehub to an XD and put a GX cassette with a smaller 10T gear.
@@matthoyle2344 agreed but at $2300 then you're just spending more money and that's where I drew the line. I would absolutely do a build with the 2022 frame!
