- In this video I showcase the 2022 / 2023 Trek Roscoe 7!! This Roscoe has the brand new frame for this year and some great colors like this Miami Green. I cover all the part specs on this bike, weigh the bike in a size M/L, and ride it to give you my ultimate thoughts on if this bike is worth it. Hope you enjoy!

Corrections/Updates to video:
1) This bike is a 2023 model, carried forward from 2022.
2) The dropper post is actually TransX branded, not Bontrager. Same measurements though!
Greetings from Brantford Ontario where I took possession of this bike last ( same color) week after a 2 year wait!! Ordered a Roscoe 7 in July 2020 and finally this beauty shows up. Only manged a few rides on it, but, it's quite the machine. I'm 65 and this is the first time I've had a "new" bike!! There's a big learning curve but I think that will be half the fun!!! Been watching your videos for last couple years just waiting for delivery, now, off to the trails!!
Wow we have a very similar situation hahaha. Ordered mine in September 2020 and got force upgraded to this model. Definitely excited though and happy that you got yours too!! Appreciate the support :)

Hey, man! Been binge watching your videos lately. I have decided to pick up a Trek Roscoe 7 2022 too! The only problem I encounter is that the only size I can find here locally at the Philippines is in the size M/L. I have a height of 165 cm, so it's around 5'4 to 5'5. My inseam is 77 cm, so it's around 30 inches. Will I still fit in the M/L size? My other concern is that although I haven't test ride the bike, I might have to lower the seat post to its lowest position to accommodate my height to the point where having a dropper is useless. Do you think that will be the case or will I be fine with an M/L size?

Pumped, I'm picking up this same color model (Just a small size frame instead) tomorrow morning. Been riding my stock Marlin 6 and while I love the bike, it just isn't up to par to what I need. Great video!
What a kick ass bike. I take delivery on mine hopefully this week. It’s an extra-large Roscoe seven matte black. This is the first mountain bike I’ve had since I was 14 years old in 1994. I rode a bad ass Cannondale killer V 900 back then and I’m stoked about this one now. Ready to get back in the saddle

Yep all the same, just updated model year since they’re coming out so late i’m guessing
I got mine couple of weeks ago, just like the bike on the video, Miami green m/l and eThirteen wheels but with Shimano cranks 👍 the breaks are good enough if you dont know better i guess? 😁
The only reason I returned my roscoe 7 is the 11speed, so it's nice to see they added the 12
is the splatter different on all bikes? like somebody actually splatters it?

Thanks! Haven’t seen a Fuel EX 5 for almost a year now actually, they’re rare to come by in our Sacramento shop unfortunately. There seem to be little to no changes since 2021 for that bike though
Do you think they'll launch the Roscoe series in India ? We have the Roscoe 2021 series but those have a different frame.
So this is really geared towards pure trail and MTB, it doenst have mounting points and so its going to work as a dual commuter+mtb bike?
How would you compare ROSCOE versus the MARLINS ?

i bought a used roscoe7 2018 from the pawn shop for £420 and the thing was falling apart the guy who owned it sprayed the cassette gold presumably to make the hub have a loud click also the crank was loose, the gear wouldnt change to the larger sprockets and the chain kept coming off if you tried to so i had to keep it in the first 5 high gears, the headset kept clicking and had alot of play it kept rocking fwd and bckwds. The back tyre was bold, the brakes needed bleeding had to squeeze them all the way in to stop. The rockshox forks had the rebound red cap missing in the end i got soo mad i took the bike aprt and sold the parts off no i just have the roscoe 7 frame.
i would like to say that once you bed in these brakes they feel very good, at least much better then the marlin 5 tektro i had, I can totally see why you didn't like the brakes since they probably weren't bedded in, and oh is it weak when new
May 2022 I got a Marlin 7 cuz that’s pretty much all that was available due to Covid shortages…
April 2023 - sold the Marlin and upgraded to a Roscoe 7 (same colour of Miami green). Absolutely love it!!!!! Love the dropper post, 2 extra speeds and better fork). 🚴 thanks for your great review which helped me make this decision! 🇨🇦

Hey, what made you switch from the Marlin 7 to the Roscoe? I literally just came from my local bike shop and was comparing the Marling 7 and 8 to the Roscoe 7. hard to decide

I just wanted a bike that was a bit better than the Marlin - there was nothing wrong with it per se, but I love that the roscoe has 2 more gears (12 instead of 10), bit better fork, bash guard, and dropper post. It’s nice to have tubeless tires too actually! It’s so smooth to ride and just feels really capable (I’m not a pro in any way lol). Hope that helps! :)
@@Trejsir9 Def helped. Thanks for responding. I picked up the Marlin 7 to get me started. I agree. That Roscoe is something. I tested it out and almost pulled the trigger but I had to get my wife a new bike as well so my budget didn't allow for the higher price of the Roscoe 7. I wanted it so bad though. The 9 will be my upgrade gift to myself in a yr or 2. Lol

this is a coincidence! i am getting exact spec, color size etc. and it is at sacramento bicycles (or getting there) and being shipped to my bike shop in oregon. don't know if this is actually my bike though haha since it is expected to come july 25 and gonna be built at local shop. thought that was cool though
Interesting!! But yeah your bike probably isn’t this one. There’s a chance it could be though since Trek shops are required to build any bike we get in the store even if we have to ship them. We just disassemble them back into the box after.

Can you suggest a bike which would be good for commuting but still looks as cool as a mountain bike
Probably something like a Trek Dual Sport, which is essentially a hybrid bike with a suspension fork. But if you want you could even do a Trek Marlin. If you’re on a budget, there are some bikes at walmart that seem cool like the Schwinn Axum or Kent bikes
I work for delveroo, I use a boardman hybrid, I was waiting on a free hub being delivered, so my friend lent me his trek marlin 5, actually enjoyed cycling the trek more even though its a mountain bike, few weeks back my wheel snapped of the forks on my boardman, I've ordered a marlin 7, lots of pot holes and speed bumps in belfast so the mountain bike helps, something to consider, the condition of roads your commuting on.
I received my marlin 7, claimed to have shimano brakes came with tektro.

It’s the Shimano Pro bike stand, this one is for road bikes so I manufactured my own extension and drilled it into the stand to make it work for mountain bikes. They make one for mountain bikes now and it’s black

I own a 2021 Roscoe 7. Great move going from SRAM SX to Shimano Deore! There are very few SX fans out there. Unfortunately the price just went through the roof! BIG price increase for this new model.

Hey you mentioned you loved the 8 but got the 7 because the 8 wasnt in your price point... if you had the cash would have you got the Roscoe 8?
Most opinions say the 8 is not worth it. You either get the 7, and if you’re going to spend that much on an 8.. might as well get the 9.

Oh I see. We never get frame only bikes unless they are special ordered for a customer. You could totally go to a store and order one for it to come in though!

Yeah by the time I released the video Trek updated the model to a 2023 so I changed that

No idea, the current models seem to have been updated to 2023 so maybe Trek is holding off on updates until later this year or next year
By the time you upgrade the brakes and forks it will be cheaper to buy the roscoe 9

Looks almost like my 2018 X-Caliber 8, except mine's got a 2x Deore XT drivetrain, and only cost me $999. It's amazing what's happened to prices in just a couple of years.

Up until this year the x-cal and Roscoe shared the same frame, but this year's model (the one featured in the video) is redesigned from scratch. Longer, slacker, lower, more fork travel, beefier frame, boost rear spacing, etc etc. Totally different bike now.

Nice bike but big problem of weight, there is exactly 1 pounds différence between size M and size M/L its so Big. Not justify..
Cool paint job, but very under specced for the price. mt200 brakes and a basic entry level air fork for almost 2k...
Yeah bigger bike companies seem to just be getting more expensive for the same level of components we were seeing a few years ago

@@meepcheep314 commencal meta HT, Marin San Quentin 2, Marin team marin 1, cannondale trail se 3, Salsa Timberjack SLX, canyon stoic (doesn't come with a dropper post but same or better components across the board and only 1200, can add a dropper for less than the trek)
