- In this video I take a first look at the brand new 2022 Trek Roscoe 8 (with the updated 2022 Roscoe frame!!) This bike is a mountain bike and specifically a trail hardtail that is designed to be super playful and nimble so in this video I go over all the specifications, weigh the bike in a size M/L, and test ride it at the end to give my final thoughts on if it’s worth it. Love this bike!! I couldn’t adjust to Fuel EX 5 and were able to swap me out for this Roscoe! The 2.8 tires and light frame make it a breeze on single track trails!

Hey, just wondering if the fork is has threaded holes so you can mount a fender (FS-35G-RL-A2?). The A1 doesn’t have a fender, but the A2 does.

Nice review. I have a Roscoe 8 2022. It's very stable going down and has lot's of grip going up. A funny ride cornering. I agree with the brake levers, they are too long, anyways the brakes/discs are really good and powerfull. But what's with the shifters? You are not the 1st one to say that is one of the things to change, but honestly I do like them, they work flawless, and I have to say I'm used to the XX1 AXS in my XC bike, so... they get the job done with no problems at all.

Personally I love the 7 and skip the 8 and to 9 instead.
I'll buy the 7 and upgrade the fork more sensible imo🙂.

Oh I had on order the Roscoe 9 but it wasn't due in until June. So I decided on the 8 - I ordered it last year in August.. waited 5 months for it to show up! I gave up and bought the 2022 fuel EX 9.7 love it!!! But still kinda want a hardtail too!
That Fuel is great! I have the same model but 2021. The new Roscoe is definitely a good one too though and it would be sick to have both!

In croatia this bike is around 1800 euros a think its a good deal and this geometry has something else compare to xcaliber 8,9...i just look so slick and has that flow.I think i will go with 8 in this color.🍻🍻 Can you just tell how are the hubs on this 8...sound wise !?

Different stores have different ETA dates so not sure about your specific store unfortunately. They are tubeless prepared with sealant installed

I don't know why Trek designs a bike that they will not have in stock anywhere at least in the USA. I ordered Roscoe 7 2021 in September 2020 and I am still waiting. hopefully I get the 2022 but I don't know when.
Can you do a video about bike price increase and components etc? price jumped around 20% for each bike. aggravating. bought 2021 trek ex5 and giant trance 29 a year ago but now about 500 more when looking to buy for my dad
That’s pretty much just due to inflation and the supply and demand issues the bike industry is facing. All bike brands have increased prices for the same bikes pretty much which sucks :(
I was looking at a Xcaliber 9 but the components on the Roscoe 8 are better for roughly the same money. So, I'm thinking if I simply swap the tires on the Roscoe for something a little less aggressive to ease that rolling resistance, I could end up with a really nice trail bike that could still be a local commuter. Or am I totally off?
I think that would work! Roscoe is a better trail bike than the x-caliber for sure, unless you mainly ride on lighter trails and prefer speed and efficiency over riding rough stuff and having a more "fun" style of bike

Do the tires on this bike come out of the box tubeless, or are they tubeless ready. Also, how long is the dropper post travel on a size medium of this bike.
They are tubeless ready and come with the tubeless sealant so the bike shop can install it. On a size medium the dropper is 130mm

I ordered the Roscoe 7 at my local store though its not to arrive for 3 months, and not guaranteed as they don't know the buy-orders from other stores. I do see the Roscoe 8 available at some stores, though the price difference is $800. I'm sold on the 7 based on your prior comparison video. I'm curious why there are some 8 available, tons of 6 available and not the 7. I've checked many stores far and close.
Nice! And not sure; it may be due to certain parts on the bike not being in supply as much so they can’t make that bike model as quickly as some other ones.
There are tons of roscoe 6 available because it's just the old 2021 roscoe frames leftover. Not the same bike as the 2022 roscoe 7-9.
The 8s couple possibly be less impacted using more SRAM parts vs Shimano on the 7/9. Waiting on a 7 myself and I'm dying here!

Do you know of the 2023 model is the same as the 2022, I ordered a olive matte black Roscoe 8 an just wanted to get more explanation. Wasn’t sure if I’m being sold on a 2022 model or a 2023 model since it do seem they have different part numbers. Treks website indicates it as a 2023 but their website show 2022. Same as the current bike you reviewing in the video.
They may have different part numbers but all the components are exactly the same

How tall are you? Im 5’11 with a 33” inseam, on the top end of the medium/large and bottom end of the large so im torn. Coming from a smaller dirt jumper im tempted to go with the medium/large for the slightly easier to maneuver ride that im used to but also don’t want to feel cramped when peddling up hills on the saddle. I am unable to test ride, really torn here. Any input before i place an order? I understand the roscoe is generally a larger feeling bike compared to others in its category as you expressed in the video.
I'm around your height at just under 6 foot (182cm) with similar inseam and got the Roscoe 8 in L. I did test ride the Marlin 7 in M/L and L and Large seemed to fit me the best. Don't know if it's just me but the Marlin 7 in M/L seemed too small for me. Couldn't test ride the Roscoe 8 in M/L since they didn't have it in stock but the L frame is a great fit for me, just gotta switch the stem to 35mm and add riser bars for my liking. I think when you're 5'11 or taller the L frame is a perfect fit
@@brock5678910 ok thats the direction I was starting to lean. It will take longer to get a large and the M/L is already at the bike shop but it’s definitely not a purchase I want to regret later. Im sure the large will be worth the wait. Thanks!
@@bulkleyoutdoors No worries. Yeah same here, I didn't wanna get the wrong size and then later on regret it lol, it's not exactly the cheapest bike after all. But the safest way is if you have the opportunity to test ride both frames and then see what fits you the best. I'm not an expert rider at all and just starting the sport coming from a bmx / xc background and the L feels great for me.
@@brock5678910 yup unfortunately the closest bike shop that has a roscoe in stock is 11 hours drive away. Im forced to go into it blind, but I did have a chance to ride a friends giant fathom in large and it felt good but on the bigger side, slightly smaller dimensions than the roscoe but very similar. The tires felt huge but im also not used to a 29er.
@@bulkleyoutdoors Yeah I can imagine but you can change drastically how the bike feels and rides by just changing the tires, stem and handlebars. I've been riding an xc bike with 2.2 tires and this Roscoe compared to that with 2.6 tires feels gigantic so im gonna put some 2.35 tires on it and yeah the shorter stem. Anyone knows if you can put 27.5 wheels on this bike? I wonder if I would have gotten the smaller size and then starting to feel it's too small, what can you do in that situation? I mean who wants over 50mm stem etc on bikes like this lol. But anyways good luck and i'm sure you're gonna love this bike when you get it 👍

The 2022 Roscoe 6 is last years frame and parts, have to get a 7 to get the new features

Yeah they put the 35mm on the Roscoe 9 but not on the 7 or 8

Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
Replace brake lever to M4100, thats 30 bucks upgrade. And you will get ev mount, and one / two finger handle.
There is no such thing as 141mm... 142 is the standard, and it's not boost, boost is 148.
Good idea! And Boost141 is a real thing; it’s specifically for the Roscoe 6 and the X-Caliber frames. You can check it out on the specs of those models on Trek’s website.
Yes 141 is the boost spec for QR. It’s on the 2019 Roscoe 8. Bad spec and hard to find wheels for

its weird back in the days womens bikes use to have the top bar significantly slanted now they brought it to the mens bikes the past 10 years or so
Just like what you said the price is something and make it less desirable over-priced i will rather buy tr 29 full suspencion trail for 150 $ more i get a full suspension
Yeah that’s definitely a factor. At this price a full suspension is tempting for sure
@@TalalipopMTB the only thing that is positive on that bike is for sure it is lightweight but i dont think it will be more cpable on the trail than tried and tested tr 29 specially on some chunky trail

Should not have included the roscoe 6 in your video. The Roscoe 6 still uses the old frame. You are only misinforming your viewers thinking they are getting the same frame from roscoe 6-9
Had one the fork is garbage the 65 HA is now normal on any halfway decent proper hardtail
