How To Fish an Alabama Rig | Downsize A-Rig to Catch More Bass

Here's how to fish a downsized Alabama Rig to catch more Bass when confronted with tough winter fishing conditions. In this video, we're fishing the controversial A-rig, Alabama Rig, Umbrella Rig, or whatever you want to call it, during some tough post-cold front conditions in Central Florida.
When most anglers think of fishing an Alabama rig, they are reminded of the typical 7'6" - 7'11" heavy action rod, 50lb braid, and big swimbait jig heads rigged with 4" to even 7" soft plastic swim baits. On this day, we decided to downsize our Alabama rigs to match the hatch of the size baitfish that were prevalent at the time. You'll see in this video that the Alabama rig doesn't always have to be the big and heavy bait it's known as. Here's how we rigged it:
Rod: 7'4" Heavy action rods from www.13fishing.com
Reel: 6.8:1 13 Fishing bait cast reels. Pick your model... They're all good.
Line: 45lb test Ninex Black Braid from www.cpflures.com
Alabama Rid: Yum Flash Mob Jr.
Swim jig: 3/16 ounce ball-head, shaky head jig
Swimbait: Ditto Swimmer 3.3 from CPF Lures: cpflures.com/collections/soft...
We will also show you how to use different retrieves when fishing an A-rig. It's not always just as easy as cast and reel. In this "how to video", we'll show you the several different retrieves we used to catch stingy Florida Bass.

Hey Chuck, we were at Butler a few years ago and we came up on some schoolers so I picked up the rod with the same Yum Flash mob and bombed it past the schooling fish and let it sink down some, and when I got it to where the schooling was I got hammered with a lot of weight, I told my buddy I either got a ten pounder or five fish. When I got it to the boat there was five fish going nuts. all were over 2 1/2. Would of been nice to have it vid.
