Hi, your tiles are from an ancient factory in Ermesinde, a small town neer Porto, which dates back to 1910 (in your tiles it's written with a z, Ermezinde, right?) they are probably really old. If you search antiga fábrica das telhas Ermesinde, you'll find pictures of the old factory and also the pictures of how the municipality renovated it, a few years ago. It looks amazing and it's been transformed into a cultural center. Big hug and love what you are doing ❤
This comment has made my day! I had no idea! Thank you so much I’m going to look in to it now!
Wow how awesome to have such old tiles in our home! Thank you again ☺️🙏🏼
@@THESCOTTERS your welcome ☺️ I actually live very near Ermesinde and always felt that factory should be transformed into something beautiful, keeping the old vibes, and fortunately they did an amazing job. They mixed the old with the modern. I really love your channel, and the fact that you love to recycle and keep has much has you can from the old days
Love 💕 this!!
Badger built two houses single-handedly…….what a feat🙌👏
He sure has pretty epic ☺️🥰
I can see you two are the greatest of friends. Not just husband, wife, father and mother. 🙏🙏
🥰
❤ I love u you two, you are the sanity when the rest of the world is going insane .
Ohh that’s kind to say thank you ☺️
What an amazing husband you have he can put his hands to anything CONGRATULATIONS
Absolutely I’m a lucky woman ☺️
Badger…. You are going to be an absolute legend after putting all those in! You will be able to do it with your eyes closed!
Looking forward to seeing the finished roof and you're a joy to watch on TH-cam every Sunday ❤
Thanks so much!
Wow- 3x epic skylights - the light and view of the trees - beautiful - well done!😊
Loving the skylights. The kitchen is going to be a beautiful space.
The sky lights are incredible. Thanks for letting us share your lives. Loving the transformation.
Take care and stay safe.
Thanks so much ☺️
Skylights are so beautiful. Inviting the outdoors in 😊 excited to see roof tiles going on. Regards from Australia 💚🐈⬛
I don't blame you for wanting to use the old tiles. They fit the look you want and are beautiful.
You two are adorable. I lack you stamina. Once those skylights were in I'd just want to sit beneath and stare at the trees all day. Badger is like a human calculator. Had fun watching today.
Badger, we absolutely have 100% faith in you! If you can't do it, then, nobody can! The views out of the skylights look like paintings. More awesome every day!❤
Beautiful skylights and exciting roof start!
The skylights look amazing. I think the old roof tiles will look perfect. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
I love the skylights the trees look beautiful through them, not that they don’t looking at them any other way lol How exciting getting to put the tiles on x
Love the old tiles!
What a labour of love passing and brushing the tiles! I love how you envisage the house nestling into the surrounding countryside! Those shots looking up at the new windows through the soon to be tiled roof were epic! 🏡
Thank you so much!
What a transformation, the three large skylight windows are incredible, absolutely beautiful. The views of the sky and trees are sooo magnificent.
It looks beautiful. You one of my favorite people.
You guys are so meticulous-it’s going to be gorgeous! I also love the fact that you guys are sourcing old things-I can’t wait to see what you do about wardrobes and cabinets! Please take us sourcing with you!!!
Wow love the old tiles!!!! They look great. Windows are wonderful, and you get to see the beautiful trees!
You two have got to be the hardest working couple on you tube and we watch a few. 😊😊😊
So very happy for y’all! Badger you have amazing talent! There is no problem you can’t solve…with a smile on your face!
Alabama, USA
Well done guys, you both have worked so hard 👏👏👍👍🎉🎉
Loving the old and the new, tiles and windows. Raise the Roof!! 🎉 ❤ You Scotters!
Oh this roof is going to look amazing! So glad you're able to reuse the tiles!! And the windows really look beautiful. Can't Sait to see the other wibdows added, but for now, roofing!!! Well done Badger! Well done Kayla!
Your skylights are like jewels in your new roof. Every time you look up it will be a different picture, how lovely 😻
Love that!
Love the sky lights, looking forward to seeing when the roof is finished, it will be great with the old roof tiles❤
Love the skylights 😍The build is really coming along now!
I was a roofer for forty plus years make sure you put double breathable felt along the bottom of the below I have found over the years if there was a leak on the velocity it was always at the bottom of the velocity so for putting double felt at the bottom it was always a better way good luck.👍
The sky lights are fantastic! Those recycled tiles are lovely, they are going to look so nice when it's all done. Nice team work Scotters!!
Thanks so much! 😊
Love love the look of old tiles
Old tiles that you can't use can be broken and used as filling for pathways and under slabs as foundation. Very useful, as Badger knows.
You can do it by tumbling them in a cement mixer.
Keep some tiles for spares in case of future breakages
Ohh that’s such a great idea thank you ☺️
You are getting there Badger and family it's coming on slowly great effort.
Progress is coming along step by step! Love your daughter brushing the little piglets...LOL☺
Well done Badger you are an inspiration to us all, it's nice being able to phone a friend x
The window views are amazing!
Love how you take your time and do everything right ❤❤❤
Well done the skylights look amazing and really open the room up. Good luck with the rest of the project 😊😊😊
Hi, I’ve found the easiest way to work out 75% is to firstly half it and then add half of your half. For example 75% of 120 is 60 + half of 60 which is 30 so 60+30 = 90 which is 75% of 120. Hope this makes sense.
Oh thank you makes perfect sense ☺️
The tiles are so serviceable and lovely. Each skylight looks like a beautiful painting. 👏👏👏 to you both.❤
It's like having three painting on your roof hope the tiling goes well
Major word being done on the 🏡 WOW 😮
Everything about your location is beautiful. Taking your time to get everything just the way you want it is worth every minute it takes to plan. Great that you have Mike on the line to help with his professional advice. See you next Sunday. 💪🏼👍🏻🤗
Yes! Thank you! Yes so great to have Mike on call 🙏🏼
Happy couple, happy family and happy sunday watch folks keep up the great progress.. Rainy week for us all here in PT :(
Thank you! Yes very very wet 🫣
great job so much fun watching you
I am in awe of your creativity, skills and patience to build your dream home on your land for your family. I enjoy your vlogs so much.
Thank you so much! That’s so kind to say! ☺️
The roof and skylights look great and I love recycling the tiles are great but I would have personally pressure washed and dried them first , great that most of the work you have done is by yourselves , well done.
Super.... things are moving ever closer, the skylights are gorgeous 🥳!
Subscribe everyone, let the free stuff start rolling in for this great family, they deserve it!!!
Ahh thank you! Yes come on everyone 😅
Incredibly beautiful skylights with the trees and clouds. Be good to see the roof finished. Difficult maths Badger !! ❤❤
Well done!
The windows will make this kitchen. I know from my own experience that adding extra light is so transformative.
I added a patio door (double door) to the rear by the kitchen which adds so much value . These one level stone old buildings need extra TLC but well worth it❤
Skylights Rock!!👍👍💙Well done... be blessed🙏🙏🙏
Cool 😎 Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Wow, what a wonderful view through the windows, beautiful, I loved it❤🇵🇹
Hi guys, I have 13ft aluminum bifold doors which each door slides seperately so out the 4 i have you can open them individually, they are super light frames but durable!! The is a company called New Wave Doors in Uk they also have a u tube channel to demostrate how to fit them, have you thought of approaching a UK company for your frames and then get the glass in Portugal maybe this would save alot on shipping? Good luck guys
Ohh this sounds good I will definitely look in to it thank you 🙏🏼☺️
Hi, Ermesinde was the factory in the Nort of of Portugal by Porto, check it out was in till 1979... injoy it getting there.
Oh wow that’s awesome I will look in to it ☺️ thank you! 🙏🏼
I am so very happy for this very special work....good conditions becoming done and achieving your needs❤🎉😊
Nice job
The skylights are incredibly beautiful.. going to be a very happy kitchen!
Thank you. I hope so!
Agree with you on the old tiles. When we reroofed our house we used the old tiles on 3 sides and new handmade clay tiles on the hidden side. The roofer estimated 50% waste but it was less so we stored them for a future project. No one realised we had reroofed which for us was a result 😊
Yes definitely I think it’s going to look amazing! Great you didn’t get much waste ☺️
Sky light look great. You did an awesome job. Have you considered adding blinds to the window so that in the hot summer days the heat doesn't come in?
I love the skylights and the trees tgat surround the property!❤ Looking great!! 👍🥰👍
Yay! It’s Scotter time 😊
Great start on the roof. The skylights look amazing, great place to hang a large crystal from to catch the rainbows in the morning sunshine! ❤
Ohh love this idea we have one in the outside kitchen so will definitely try it ☺️
Saludos desde Chiapas, México. I love the fact that you're using the old tiles to roof your buildings. I think you might actually try to get some salvaged tiles instead of new. You're going to really enjoy all that light that your skylights are going to provide. Bendiciones.
Thank you yes it has to be done i agree reclaimed all the way! ☺️
You two crack me up ypur like a double act in life and marriage and seem great friends...
Was Badger a roofer before miving to Portugal 😊😊
Ahh thank you we definitely the best of friends 🥰 no he is a plumber but him and his friend ran a building company and his friend is a roofer! So that’s super handy ☺️
@THESCOTTERS it's lovely to see you banter with each other. You're like a good double act, and it comes across so well every week. Wow, thats a great skill to have but he seems to have all the builder 👷♂️ skills badger the builder lol..
Ansiosa para ver o telhado pronto, bj
This was lovely and everyone was right in the end. What’s not to like!
Looking at how you have fit the velox you might have to lift the velox up as you fit the tiles the flashing kit will determine that good luck you are doing a good job
Those velux windows are like picture frames
Love that you are using the old tiles. I would also prefer that to a new shiny new roof. If you have extra tiles once the roof has been done, I have recycled old tiles here in Chile and made a garden out of it filled with beautiful flowers. It looks great. The view on those skylights is breathtaking…I can just imagine your family sitting there and looking at the sky, trees, clouds…so beautiful. Are you able to open these skylights windows? If so, how would this be done as they are so high on the ceiling? I hope you’ll have time to get the roof done before all the rain and winter comes in so you’ll be able to continue working inside the house. Big hugs everyone and great job ❤
Thank you! That’s great idea!
Yes they open but so high up I think we will have to have a special stick or something ☺️
@@THESCOTTERSI wish I could send you some pictures. Do you have an email address? Thanks
Yes we sure do thescottersoffgrid@gmail.com
Great work on the window and tiles.
Can't wait to see the whole roof filed 😊 maybe alternate the tiles - one with pattern and one with name/logo ... if you have enough ... even if you can do only a few rows this way.
Ohh love that idea ☺️
Praying 🙏 for bi fold doors for you,cat a bargain price!! Blessings from Ireland 🇮🇪 love watching your channel on a Sunday morning. The cotton candy clouds through your sky lights was stunning. ❤
Thank you so much!
I watch The Irish homestead on Saturdays they are restoring too ,and having fun and games,do you watch them ? Same and Bex never done it before ! U both are my favourite watch ,oh and Campervibe they are up the road from Sam and Bex also renovating 😊
I have seen a few but totally forgot about them so will definitely go back and have a look! Love what they are doing ☺️
Gorgeous view. Have fun tiling!
Looking good enjoying the build thanks 😊
A sight to behold guys
Beautiful every time I look 👀 you are so handy be careful on the roof ❤
❤❤❤❤❤ un quore per ciascuno di voi !
I love your weekly vologs, guys ....😊😊😊
Yay! Thank you!
@@THESCOTTERS I love the little 🐖 🐷 🐽 🐖
It is good progress.❤❤
Great video hope the weather keeps on your side
C and J Normandy
I hope so too thank you ☺️
Wooooo… next week for a roof🙏🙏
I love the idea of reusing those old tiles, even if I can't understand anything badger says about how to install them!! It's an old stone house , shinny new ones would ruin the look!! That rain that coming will test ur new sky lights!! Chow!!
Haha you and me both 😂 will so be worth it ☺️
Yes, my head was spinning during the math lesson! 😂
❤❤❤
Totally with you on constructions looking like they've always been there ... that's one of the principal criteria for whether I've succeeded with a project or not. There's something very special about buildings that rise organically from their surroundings and feel like they've always been part of the place. Love love love the Veluxes though! I'm afraid I can't help with bifold door suppliers ... I went looking for them a few years back as one wall of my house is glass, but drew a blank and ended up with individual glass doors which all open in such a way that the end result and the amount of open wall isn't so very different.
Yes definitely I want it to look like it’s been here forever!
But yes will little modern bits like nice big windows!
Ahh that’s interesting yes we are struggling to find any but we will look in to the way you have done it thank you ☺️
@@THESCOTTERS yes! Exactly that! I also love using traditional Portuguese architectural features but using them in slightly unexpected ways. The reason there’s a glass wall in the house - over 2 floors - was because there was no front wall on half of the house originally. And on the upper floor the doors are traditional Portuguese balcony doors (which I swapped for a load of old unmatched scaffolding … now there’s an idea! 😂). Somewhat surprisingly it works brilliantly.
Wow that’s sounds beautiful!!! Love the mix!!
For the bifolds please google "Porta dobrável de alumínio" 😀
What type of valley are having if it’s lead it should go in before tiles are fitted because to fit it after you will be undoing your work to get the valley into place and you will have to put valley boards in place as well to support the lead valley
Get those roof tiles on ASAP before the rains come and damage the wood .
As I am not an expert at all in these areas, I always wonder if what you are doing is sufficiently safe, particularly during winter periods? And for how long? Please look after your safety as first priority.
It's amazing. I could tell Badger was trying to NOT get a splinter in his butt! Lol
Haha 🫣
Cuando acabéis la cocina Kayla se convertirá en Blancanieves 😍😍😍😍😍😜
5:47 I was just thinking 'that must feel almost like a bigger milestone than getting the roof timbers finished' and then Badger (edit: you both!) say 'that's a big milestone'. Time for a few celebratory beverages tonight I reckon. Congratulations.
Edit: watching you lay out those old uncleaned tiles is def lump in throat time. I might have thought of pressure washing them, and hopefully stopped after the first few, thinking why? But seeing them with moss and everything is super cool.
Yes definitely a massive mile stone thank you ☺️
You could have pressure cleaned the tiles don’t you think ?
Love the old tiles and the windows are epic. My only question is how do you keep the bugs out since there are no screens?
Hmm good question not sure 🤔
👍
