Side Quest Revealed!! Mike and I have been working on a secret project at the other end of our property, and I am so excited to finally share it with you! #diyprojects #girlpower
Cool video Meg -N- Mike. I live in a 1973 mobile home that a nice lady payed me 850 dollars to move off her property. I went early on a Sunday morning with my farm tractor and towed it the 8 miles to my lot. That was 20 years ago. I’m still living in it. Life is good.
That's awesome!! That must have been quite the sight towing the home with the tractor! How cool!! I'm glad the home is still doing well for you! Thanks for watching and for sharing your experience!
Meg, you and Mike never slow down. As a couple, you two are so enjoyable to watch. Work so well together. Great purchase. I can't wait for the tour. Definitely no shortage of projects 😁.
Since I found your channel I've started doing projects I wouldn't have before. you've inspired me to do a lot more DIY and a lot less relying on other people. Now things get done on my schedule...or not...🤣
As a European I've always been sceptical about that idea of mobile/manufactured homes.... but seeing the inside of your 2018 one, I've got to admit they seem much spacier and nicer than I thought. So maybe not that bad at all. Except when you're living up tornado alley. PS I'm glad that you aren't "hiding" Mike anyomore in your vids.
Ya they are honestly often misrepresented, manufactured homes here are actually built with the exact same building practices a "regular home" (2x6 walls r24 insulation r40 in the roof) just built on top of a heavy duty steel frame. In areas of high wind they put large anchors in the ground to keep them from moving, the homes that you see torn apart from storms are likely mobile homes which are constructed very differently and are much much lighter duty. Thanks for the interest in the video and the support on the channel!
I sell manufactured homes. All homes of thus type are manufactured homes. In the US, HUD dictates what home regs are for each state. The term mobile home is not really used anymore as it implies more of a trailer like a travel trailer or what is called a park model.
@@vh3531 Actually, HUD defines what is a mobile home and what is a manufactured home. So any homes that are built in a factory and delivered complete that are still in existence from prior to 1976 are still considered mobile homes. Park model RVs came into existence because people wanted to live in RV parks and didn't need any of the tanks, under belly storage, or other equipment that a regular RV had for being used while traveling. They are built to RV standards, not home standards.
Brilliant! I'm more than slightly impressed! The highlight of the video, though, was you two shouting "Hello!" at each other down the convoluted tubing! You're both as mad as a box of frogs! I have to admit that I shed a few tears when I saw your new home settled in place under the beautiful evening sky... 🥰🤣😂😎
Thank you Bernard!! Lol I love that, "mad as a box of frogs" 😂🐸!! We appreciate you, Bernard! Thank you for being a part of this adventure with us! Sending you our best!

WOW! I remember a gal who struggled to build an 8 foot tall stick frame for her totes in her town home garage a year ago. Then when she tried to stand it up, should couldn’t & groan laughed!!! Not enough clearance… Now she’s tilting a 40,000 lb home with ease, less than a year later. Great job on increasing your knowledge “outside my paygrade” experience. In 2 years I won’t be the least bit surprised to see you building a rocket launch pad on the far corner of the property & fly in orbit! It makes my USA Tennessee heart happy to share in your and Mike’s Canadian wilderness pioneer experience. It’s most enjoyable & identifiable (I’ve stood in the rain in the military going.. "where the puck is the damn transport?!!!") 10-10-24 I’m officially adding you to my short “Super Favorite Canuck” list John Candy, Jim Carrey, Ryan Reynolds, & Megan August. All the Best! G
You are literally comparing her building and standing a frame on her own, to a professional (not her, as you said) using their purpose built truck to tilt the home for her. Of course it is tilted easily! Your logic is a little broken............apples to oranges. Now, all of the work they have done is an extension of the skills used to build the rack in the garage. It is great they were able to prepare a property to have a home set. It would have been better if they had run a roller compactor over each lift of the fill, but if they kept the lifts thin enough, the track steer may have been good enough for their needs.
Another fantastic episode. Loving the journey. The catapiller is really working out for you now. I saw another youtuber living off grid drilling a well in the US. Was a lot deeper than yours but they had to use the pros to do it. The machinery involved was so emense, and complex, and it also took a few days. Looking back at your well drill with what you were using, just made it more amazing of a job which you did on your well. Great job. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed this episode! The well drilling process is such a wild thing, and honestly I'm still a bit stunned that we actually (successfully!) did it!! Thank you for the support and encouragement, we're grateful to have you along on this journey with us! Hope you're having a great start to your weekend!

What fun! Very practical and sensible too, giving yourselves somewhere a little more robust than the trailer to live in through the upcoming winter whilst managing the budget. That sure was a lot of grading work - probably saved yourselves a fair bit doing that rather than hiring it out.
Thanks Kev! We are very excited to get moved in, we actually miss our 2018 home so much we cant wait! It was the cheapest house to heat we have ever lived in so it should be nice and cozy for the winter.
Even though you are tired at the end of a day, the satisfaction of standing back and seeing what you have accomplished is what I call "the wow factor," as in, " I can't believe we did this." Your forever home is just beginning!
doing groundworks on that scale is no easy thing to do especially when you have such soft top soil and not much experience i think you did a fantastic job !!

What an epic episode! I'm mean bringing on your own home to your land is pretty epic - but I just want a skid steer! You've made it in life for sure! I find it amazing you have the energy to film while doing all that hard work - but thanks so much for doing so! Can't wait to see your progress on this! Ringo
You 2 work so well together. Great job prepping the spot for the mobile home. Having the Cat skid steer made your job so much easier. The backhoe will make a great rebuild project later. Hope you get it all set up to move into before the snow falls.
Your videos are great. You always stay positive about everything you do. It's really refreshing to see these videos, I enjoy them a lot . We all need to take lessons from you because you never quit, and you get the job done . Keep it up, Meg .
Frankly I didn't expected a prefab home. Don't get me wrong but I thought you (and Mike) were building a home "from scratch". Now Suddenly you guys have your home standing proud on the property in this beautiful surroundings. It is finally taking shape. Good luck and on to the next one.
Have no fear! We will still be building our dream home and shop come Spring! We will be living in the manufactured home through the winter and while we build (and will be selling the travel trailer!) Thanks for watching Roy! Hope you have a great week!
@@Meg.August Thanks for the update and clarification Meg. I can imagine the winters will be harsh in this region, does it? Looking forward to the next one.
I'm curious why the intermediary step of putting in a manufactured home for one winter while you wait for Spring to start building your dream home. Would winter just be too harsh on the travel trailer where you are? I managed heating blankets on on all of my tanks on the van I lived in for a couple of years. I had to dig it out of a meter+ of snow a few times but it was easy to keep something that small heated. Or are you planning on keeping the manufactured home as a guest house? Thanks for sharing this whole process and good luck!

I find it amazing you have the energy to film while doing all that hard work - but thanks so much for doing so! Can't wait to see your progress on this! Ringo
Glad to see you back Meg. I missed you n mike.❤😊
You 2 work so well together. Great job prepping the spot for the mobile home. Having the Cat skid steer made your job so much easier. The backhoe will make a great rebuild project later. Hope you get it all set up to move into before the snow falls.

Well done, congratulations on the new temporary home. Can't wait to see how you develop the rest of the property.
Your videos are great. You always stay positive about everything you do. It's really refreshing to see these videos, I enjoy them a lot . We all need to take lessons from you because you never quit, and you get the job done . Keep it up, Meg .

Nice work! Cant wait for the house tour 😊
Thanks so much!
Big Gratz! Stressful but in the end it looks like it was all worth it!
The next cycle of awesome begins!
You are making progress , things are coming along and that's great.
