Yes!!! We have 4 Golden Retrievers and they are FAR lighter on their feet than any of our cats! We have two little boy kittens, Walter (just turned 7 months) and Spencer (9 months) and they have about as much grace as a couple of T-rexes and shake the entire house running up and down the stairs chasing each other!!! Even our adult cats don't make that much noise!!!
Story for the fits I sits, neighbor takes care of the local strays and they like to try and sleep in her planters/pots. She bought decoy pots. I love walking by her house and seeing cats rolled up in them. They bloom nicely every year
My favorite thing about this channel is how much we're all here looking for reassurance from Jackson that our cats indeed love us in their own way even though deep down inside, we know they do. We're just nerds that crave validation from our babies!
I do not know about all of that. What I do I know is that cats are charming and make me smile no matter how grumpy or angry I am. Cats do not bark, I like that.
One of my favorite cat behaviors is the tongue blep!😂😂 Its like they're cleaning along there and...random thought occurs...tongue stuck out mid-lick. "Um...where was I?"🥰
I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this channel. I’m a combat vet with relatively serious bouts of PTSD at times and nothing has given me a sense of calm like my cat. I’ve had service dogs during programs I was in at the VA for 8 weeks at a time and I’ve had plenty of other pets and love all animals but my cat and I share a special bond. I understand academically he may not understand me but I like to believe he does.
@@sandym8787 Thanks Sandy! He’s made my life so much better. I’m actually heading to the Ukraine to join some friends I served with and while it may not be the best thing for me mentally, it’s something I feel is right to do. I do feel relieved that when I get back I’ll have my purring buddy waiting for me
@@josephfranzen5626 OMG that is amazing that you are going , my great grandparents were from Ukraine , and it is absolutely horrifying what is happening to the people , the homes , the animals . Heartbreaking . Praying for your safety and your return to your life after helping others who are suffering . Way to go !
What a wonderful story of your healing relationship with your cat! Cats are really really tuned in to people who love them, so your purring buddy no doubt does understand you and your needs, as well as understanding that you love him. I hope that by now you have returned safely from the Ukraine and that your faithful buddy welcomed you with outstretched furry paws! Take very good care. (If I were American, I would thank you for your service to your country.)
Awe, I just adopted my first cat and she had a rough first night but I woke up and went to check on her. She still didn’t wanna move but I just laid beside her, not looking at her and spoke very softly towards her. She came out from hiding and i saw who she really is. Later she went on to hop on my bed and start making biscuits and meowing at me. She will even follow me now into my bedroom or wherever I go. Been lonely for awhile, she means so much to me.
That distinct meowing calling sound when a cat walks into the room with a toy in its mouth, head and tail held high. Fun and adorable. I interpret it to mean "come and see what i caught". Is that right?
Ours only do that when they catch something alive. Usually it’s in the middle of the night, and I’m half asleep, and kitty comes into the bedroom making that little trill-and I’m instantly wide awake because I know that what comes next is a live mouse being dropped onto my bed…
One of my cats does this with spring toys. And I realized this week that he doesn't really care if I'm home, since I heard him meowing loudly while standing outside my apartment door. I was actually concerned, but then I opened the door and saw him just peacefully walking around with this spring in his mouth.
Mine let me touch their tum tum! One is pregnant, I thought she was spayed but was lied to, and she escaped. Came back and now she is preggers, due in a week or two. And she LOVES it when I feel her kittens! She gets ALL purry and meows loving into my face, giving my a bunch of slow blinks! y heart melts every time she shows me love! It also makes me feel good that she trusts me enough to let me touch her tummy so I can feel the kittens moving inside. I really love feeling them! Going to suck when she gets spayed but I say this only because I find kittens so cute and I just LOVE feeling them in my kitty! But the responsible me already has a date set for when she is going to the vet to be spayed.
That's my kitty kneeding in the video at 5:23!! Her name was precious, she unfortunately passed away this summer after surgery for her colon cancer. I was so shocked and surprised to see her while I had Jacksons video playing ❤️😍❤️🥲❤️🥳
You helped my daughter and myself so much she's autistic and we lost our cat to cancer. Her grief was so strong. We used some of your videos to help. Thank You even after we lost our cat you still bring joy peace and hope...
2:05 - I really thought you were going to explain something that I’ve only seen one cat (my current orange tabby) do. Sometimes, when he’s lying on his side all relaxed, I’ll pet his belly, and as I move my hand up toward his neck, he’ll encircle it with his forepaws (claws sheathed) and clasp my hand to his chest. It really feels like a hug. Has anyone else had that happen?
Yes, I have one that hugs exactly like this. I think it's to share scent, both pasting her scent on and experiencing the scent of what's being hugged. She's a breeding queen and often hugs her babies this way as well.
Yes!!! I’ve had a couple of cats do this. Claws come out when I try to take my hand back before kitty is done with this kind of hug 😂 My senior boi does this occasionally when I pet him (he does not show me his belly). I’ve learned that means my hand is his for as long as he desires.
When i am petting my cats face sometimes she will grab my hand with her front paws and squeeze it against her face like a hug. She could nap like that for an hour or more if I let her! 💕
I find it so cool and intresting that my deaf cat (he was born deaf) does the radar ears. The raw cat is so clear when looking at him sitting in the window watching cat tv and the ears move around like on a ”normal” cat. Its just cool :)
Sound is vibration. A theory could be that he sense in his fur, paws, nose that something made a sound and the he direct his ears towards then place he felt the sound from. Or he see from were the sound should come from: a barking dog, a irritating Magpie...
Oddly enough, my cat's radar ears got less active when he got into old age and started to lose his hearing. More specifically, they wouldn't respond to noises, but they moved less in general, too.
@@MsJazbren Maybe my boy just has the instinct to do it even tho he cant hear. And your cat who could hear stopped with the radar since for him there was no sounds around?
Could be he is only semi deaf . . . He could be hearing in the higher registers that we can't hear and he could be deaf in the lower registers. Happens with people that way too.
@@Moonsfire62 true but not likley with my boy, No sound has made him react :) he is my little angel anyways. Except when he tries to koll the vaccum while i clean 😂
I was worried being a new cat owner about my cat doing "hugs", since she does it CONSTANTLY and i was worried it was like...a back or paw problem or at the very least a weird quirk. To know shes just super comfortable and happy to be around me constantly just.... 😭
When I went to the local cat shelter to meet their cats back in August, I had already looked at their cats on their website and emailed the shelter to let them know how I lived and which cats I thought might be suitable based on how they were described on the site. When I got there the volunteer staff instantly vetoed my suggestions and instead suggested that I either pick two elderly brothers or a very fat young female. The elderly brothers were very cool and dignified and regally accepted cheek scritches. The fat young lady had thrown herself on the ground and rolled over in the sea otter position within 2 seconds of me, a complete stranger, entering her territory. Belly up and demanding love without even a trace of hesitation. She's actually doing the sea otter position right now so I better get off the keyboard and accept that it's cuddle time.
Oh, bless you, Helena!! I love people like you!! Yes, if people want to get a kitty, go to the shelters. Some of the older cats there, are there for no other reason than being themselves and others don't understand them. I love when they do "sea otter!"
It's funny when we think we know what we want and end up with something entirely different that fits perfectly. Happened to me with the last little dog I adopted. He is a super companion, and bonus, resembles the dog on my family's coat of arms...lol.
Jackson, I have never been a cat person before. I am an animal lover tho and I moved recently into a senior complex where there was a cat in need of a home. He had been living by himself for over a month. His owner had been in and out of the hospital since getting him. He’s only 2-3 years old. He only saw people when neighbors came to feed him. So sad. I had been thinking about adopting a kitten. But after meeting this cat and seeing that he had been living with a smoker I couldn’t let him go to a shelter. Well, I’m sure you already know the behaviors he’s developed. Honestly I think it was Devine intervention that brought him and I together because had he gone to a shelter I really believe with some of the things I’ve been through with him he wouldn’t have been able to be rehomed. I have watched so many of your videos and used every bit of information I remember from them. One cat two litter boxes! Play, play, play... just understanding how Cat’s are different than dogs is extremely helpful to me. Even tho this cat is not the kitten I saw myself with, and I don’t know if his naughtiness will ever subside, I do love this little cat. Your videos are full of so much great information. Thank you Jackson. I’m very grateful to you and for you.
Always fun to listen to you, Jackson! When my kitty does the "cat hug", it's usually when I interrupt her cat tv out on the screened porch. She looks up, sees me, and then gives me these delighted/delightful little chirps, turns over on her back and squirms around, belly up. She also does the slow blink at the same time. *I am loved.*
Thank you for “cat-splaining” our felines to us. This video has confirmed some ideas I have had about my little rescue kitty who never had a mom. I got her as an “unadoptable” terror when she was about 3 and slowly but surely she is learning to be the snuggly kitty she was born to be. We are BOTH learning. Thanks so much for what you do for the world ‘s cats and their often baffled owners.
I have one like that. 3 years in the shelter, from kittenhood up until she was the 'unadoptable' dispenser of fear and murderous intent. She simply felt more 'safe' under a towel, blanket, garbage bag, LARGE piece of paper etc... Now, she's a loveable cuddlebug who visits my bed nightly for her personalized scritches and lovely ear scritches. She just wanted to feel safe while these meat-monkeys reached for her... and now, she has me trained to let her snuggle up to my ankles (under the covers) or to get on the pillow next to my head for slow, gentle pets at night. Don't write off a 'unadoptable' cat! They may just be waiting for someone who will really, really, REALLY love them... and then they'll melt against you as the only human they trust! :) Mz Pepper has blossomed into a loving, almost adoring, cat. So happy to have her as part of the family! :)
Thank you Jackson Galaxy, I'm in Tampa Florida where plastic bags are alloted Thank you for explaining why my cat licks bags. NO MORE PLASTIC BAGS in my house
Jackson thank you for being such an advocate in the cat community. You really love cats! I adopted a cat from cat depot in Sarasota Florida and was informed that you visited the establishment and put your stamp of approval on all the work that cat depot does. Bravo! Not only do you make money as a cat whisperer but you volunteer your time to spread awareness of cats in society. I commend you Mr Jackson for educating society on things that aren't readily made cat knowledge. I've learned tremendous amounts of info from you that I don't think I would have found out otherwise. Thank you thank you thank you!
Along with all the sweet and true praise you have earned justifitiedly so, I would ❤ simply like to say THANK YOU 😊 🙏 For really simply all that you do. People get real freaked out when a cat simply is having a simple cat reaction that and just needs time and space to properly process the data. Jackson YOU ARE TRULY AMAZING and I, who am a lifetime ❤ cat lover and owner ♥, still find myself learning new things all the time from you. I hope this channel works out for you 🙏 ❤ as I enjoy it very much.
Probably a grooming reflex. I knew a cat that overgroomed her forelegs and would start trying to groom when she was being cleaned since she was too fat to properly clean her backside.
Ooo this is a good one!! My cat will also lick his cat tree sometimes, like the fuzz of the highest bed/platform where he sleeps? I assume he’s just wanting it to smell more like him….(no treats are given in that area)
When my boy Ichabod is being especially adorable he'll do the cat hug and this cute little purr meow if you aren't looking. It's so endearing to imagine him being like, "Hey! Look I love and trust you."
There’s no mystery about what my cat is doing but it’s so endearing that I want to share. Also, I’d like to hear if anyone else has a kitty that does this. When my male ginger kitty sees me getting ready for bed at night he’s a man on a mission. He follows me meowing till I sit down on the daybed where he sleeps and spend time loving on him while he settles in, kneading the furry blanket. He absolutely expects a tuck in every night! It’s pretty irresistible - he pretty much gets his way.
One of my cats and I also have a bedtime routine, which I call Bedtime for Bonzo. It involves belly ribs (I do him, not him on me) and him rolling on my just removed shirt or sweater. Then he jumps from one side of bed to the other for a few pets, then goes off to sleep with his brother.
My orange tabby Pumpkin would greet me at the door after work, then insist I carry him around on my shoulder for at least the first 5minutes I was home. Inconvenient, but who could resist that? None of my others do that.
As someone pointed out, these videos are important because cat behavior is so misunderstood and people need to learn to respect their unique and superior catness.
Yep. Cats have their own, personal schedules. Each one will approach mommy or daddy for "E N T E R T A I N M E N T !" at about the same time, in the same place (often). They are very good at training us to provide what they want... when they want it.
My cat was around 2-3 weeks old when I adopted him. There were no chance for him to survival in the shettle. I woke up every 3 hours to feed him, make him "beeee" after eating and of course belly massage. Right now his over 16 years, sitting with me and watching what I'm writing 😻😻💪💪😻😻
I'm picking up my adopted kitty on Monday and can't wait to see what weird things she's into. All I know is that she's shy but a sweetheart. Can't wait to love her ❤.

I love these videos! I started watching them to help explain the behavior of my "bottle baby". Avery was around 2 weeks old when I found him all alone in my back yard. I stressed every half oz. he gained until finally he's almost a year old and 10 lbs. Of all the strange things I've watched him do the weirdest is his behavior around scents. I light a scented candle and he's looking for it. I put perfume on my wrist before leaving the house and he grabs my hand to pull it to his nose. I spray fabric spray on the drapes, he's there. He doesn't look disgusted, he doesn't try to lick it, he just wants to know... I love that little dude.
DUDE. Thanks for everything you do on behalf of cats. Thanks for teaching people (particularly men) about how cats are such great, loyal and affectionate companions because it's not until we understand them that we can tell how much they like us and want to hang out with us. My love affair with cats didn't start until I studied them and came to understand their language and behavior. YOU DA' MAN, BRO!! KEEP IT UP!!!
Why particularly men? I'm a man and I had cats for a long time before I became extremely allergic to them. Not sure, not sure why you were aiming your comment towards guys.
As I was sitting there watching this my Tangie boy came strolling over, jumped up next to me, started head butting me, then climbed onto my lap, butt in my face, of course. Then he started making biscuits on my legs. All of my pajama bottoms are full of little kitty claw holes. Such is the life of a kitty mama of 5. But like all the rest of us here, I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Jackson, I don't often comment, but I love your videos. They are so informative and enjoyable with your awesome delivery. Thank you so much for all you do, for all of us!
My cat will sit on anything rectangular. If I can’t find my phone I can usually just reach under him when he is in a loaf and he is sitting on that 😂 he also will sit in a patch of sunlight coming through the window. Soooo cute
Mine too! He will literally lit on a piece of paper like it's a bed. Just anything that's different somehow then the rest of the surface, he assumed is for his sitting pleasure
@@eradkova I agree. There are some fascinating videos here on youtube about experiments regarding communication and observation skills of dogs and cats. For example, the criteria a street cat/dog needs to be fulfilled, before approaching a human for food or shelter. Most times when "a cat suddenly appears" at someone's house, she has been around for days, observing and evaluating.
UPDATE: So, up until now, my vet HAS approved burping Sparky. A recent visit last week has resulted in my being told to stop. The vet didn't explain why and I forgot to ask because my response was... "Well, what do I do when Sparky jumps into my arms and assumes the position?" The vet then approved my burping Sparky but cautioned me to be gentle, which I thought odd given that the vet could see how gently I was burping Sparky. Anyhow... My point is if you are going to burp your cat, it may not be as innocuous as I originally thought and there is wisdom in going to your vet and demonstrating what you do to get the right advice for your kitty. Stay safe and be well everyone. Hi Jackson, just wanting to share my two cents worth regarding weird behaviours and the correlation to health issues of one of my cats. It has taken 7 years, 7 vets and one cat specialist to eventually work out that Sparky (my avatar) has IBD. Unfortunately, it took a wee bit longer for me to work out that when Sparky gets the zoomies, it's because his IBD is playing up and causing him distress. Eventually, in desperation - because nothing was helping him (believe me, I have tried everything) - I started burping him like a baby. Yup, I hug him close (sideways), so that his whole body is supported against mine and pat the side of his lower abdomen just above the thigh beneath his ribs, and he loves it. The harder I thump the more he kisses me, starts kneading, does the sleepy half closed eyes and purrs. I don't thump hard though because it just doesn't seem like the right thing to do and he is now a senior citizen and has the beginning of arthritis in his spine, however, when he gets the zoomies, I start to burp him and he settles right down. Given that there is no cure for IBD and Sparky isn't responding to all the diverse treatments his vet and I have discussed... Sparky now gets burped every day at least twice a day and is finally a happy cat. Would love to hear your thoughts. Stay safe and be well.
You can also try infant gas drops( simethicone). Probably check with your vet for proper dosage. This comment made me think of burping my kids as babies lol. The gas drops helped a lot. And for me when I take it(the adult version now because why am I using up my kids infant drops just to get the correct adult dosage and then have to buy more for them haha), it says it's anti-gas but for me it helps get the burps out easier.
You can give Sparky some Slippery Elm Bark Powder (one teaspoon in a mug of hot water, allow to cool and it becomes like loose jello. Mix some in his cat food and it will help tremendously). It really works and is a natural product and easy to get online.
That explains why my cat enjoys when I do it, in bed she gets off my chest & lays again at my side & I started doing that, her purr is soooo loud!!!! You're an AMAZING cat Mom, lucky for Sparky (great name)💖😻😻😻😻
I had to teach my husband the ways of the cat and how to interact with them, because they are so different from dogs. He was a dog person and my cat was a rude adjustment. 😜 Our baby girl is WILD as they come but also sweet as pie. He is officially loves cats now that he understands them. Jackson, your work is probably helping so many people in THAT way. Understanding opens the door for love and acceptance. That’s a universal truth. Looking forward to your next episode.
My roommate is a moron & will not learn or listen : ( He constantly is terrorizing my Cats, trying to chase them around like Dogs : ( Even my Rottweiler is sick of him, but she is too polite to bite his face, which I believe she needs to do!
@@debsreno911 it isn’t always that easy to do and you don’t know that someone isn’t working towards removing themselves from a negative situation. I have been in living situations where is was ME being abused and leaving STILL wasn’t that simple. Things we might take for granted may not always be an option for others at that time. ..Especially when talking about shared living situations. That can make things so complicated.
I never had a cat until I was an adult and I soon decided that to really understand and appreciate cats, you need to realize that all cats are born "clinically insane". They are endlessly entertaining and I love them all!!!
Radar ears are usually very subtle with every cat I have been blessed to live with. I have always had male cats, with one exception a sweet tempered Calico, that little girl used her ears to express her opinion. When she was angry with her brother she would sit perfectly still, lower her head, raise her eyes and literally move her ears from their normal position into what looked like little horns. When she did that her brother would leave the room and we couldn't stop chuckling at her ability to silently express her displeasure because she was the most affectionate and easy going cat ever.
My 1-year old cat who I’ve had for about 7 months recently made biscuits on my face for the first time! It was only for a few seconds, but it made me so happy! I already had a idea of why they do it, but your explanation for it here made me even happier 🥰
Love this guy! I've learned so many beyond interesting things about my cats over the years from Jackson. His work with real life problems in cat households is nothing short of miraculous. Cats are grateful he's here to help us get it.
I adopted my first cat when I was 19. My boyfriend (later husband) grew up with them. Me, all dogs. It was then that I discovered my love for cats. Our first boy, Master Paws, was with me for 18 years.
This guy is awesome. I have had two cats, for about twelve years. At the beginning, I learned things online, and from my veterinarian about cat behavior. As well as just observing my kitties, and how they do things. But when I discovered Mr. Galaxy, that changed everything. I totally have learned a lot of things about my felines from him. He is the literal expert about cat behavior. I have also actually obtained quite a lot of kitty knowledge just from having the priveledge of my two cats letting me stay with them, and being at their beckon call. lol. I am quite knowledgable about feline behavior, and I truly think that these animals are totally awesome creatures.
It’s cool and respectful that he actually talks with people who come up to him in public instead of being a jerk and refusing to because “they are considered peasants” or “his time is too valuable” like many celebs do ❤️
I've learned SO much from you Jackson! I have 3 fur babies and you have inadvertently helped to make my connection with them so much stronger. I'm definitely their mom and I have claw marks from them making biscuits all over my shoulder. Thank you for teaching me how to better relate 🥰
@@JacksonGalaxy I have an odd question: Do cats have a sixth sense? Twice now, we have been adopted by feral cats that traveled a long way to find us. My son and I have a 20 acre, off-grid goat ranch on a mountain where our nearest neighbors are over a mile away, and none of them like cats. We are very remote; 12 miles from town and 6 miles from the feral cat-colony community they most likely came from. I believe the first one came from a home 6 miles away I visited when I delivered 3 baby goats I raised to be pets for the family who lived there. When I was there, I noticed a mama cat and her all-black kittens. The homeowner fed them, but had no interest in making them pets which made me sad. I talked to the kitties and told them I wish they were mine. Two months later, an @ 6 month old black kitten, missing her tail, arrived (the right age to be one of those cats). I called the lady who had those cats, asked what happened to them. She said most were killed by coyotes 😿, but one had gotten under her hood as she was going to town. When she stopped to turn on the highway that goes down the mountain, she saw it run out from under the hood, ran across the highway into the brush and was gone. That point is about 4 miles from my house, and the kitty ran to "my side" of the highway. It was one week after that happened that Luna arrived at our house. I think her tail could have been severed by the car's fan blade, but who knows? I know in my heart that she is that kitty, but how did she find us? She went through great danger to get here, and passed up other houses where she wouldn't have been accepted. It's like she knew I wanted her! I did tell her so. Sorry for the long story, but I love cats so much and their mysterious ways. The second tuxedo cat's story is also amazing, but that's another long "tail". He's named "Houdini" because he's magical and is dressed in a tuxedo, ready to perform. Ha.
Thanks Jackson, Charlie was a very scared cat, always spitting and scratching and now, thanks to your programmes, she eats with the rest and I can even stroke her. Your programmes are the best! I also have four stray black ones who have mostly been spayed, the rest will be soon, and they all play together and wash each other. Long live the Cat Daddy!
I had a cat who was my absolute baby. For a few years it was just the two of us and then I added a partner in to the mix. We were both musicians and when we moved in together he brought all of his musical equipment too. There was this one thing he used called an ebow, a small device which made electric guitar strings sound like they were being bowed like violin strings. Every time we had a fight, my cat would knock the ebow off of wherever it was and smash it. I always thought that one was a protective thing for me and a middle finger to him... Like "you fight with my mum? Well I will just have to smack your thing on the ground". The cat never did it to anything else ever.
Strangest thing: I had a kitty named lucky. She was long haired grey. She would find all the baby socks in the house she could and burry them outside under the stairs. Still to this day no idea why.
I'd hardcore fangirl if I ever saw Jackson IRL. This guy actually does things I care about and does them as a BAMF! A selfie with him would be a highlight of my life
Thank you Jackson Galaxy, for your great funny videos! You make my day! Because my cat makes biscuits with me, and you call that my cat calling me his cat mom! Go on with the great work! You spoil your listeners! And I love to hear your voice and jokes! Go go go on with the great work!
Our cat is 90 years old in cat years and has renal disease. We love him so much! We’re used to having all this love and he gets sicker and sicker. It breaks my heart. We don’t know what to do when he passes. I can’t imagine not having my sweet kitty around. Other ppl tell me to get another cat. But, I’m not sure I can😢 He’s a rescue kitty. You’ve helped us so much with understanding him. Thank you so much for your help.
Love learning this stuff! I’ve got one for you Jackson. Why is our 7 mo old kitten is the official bathroom inspector? Not only does she always want to be in the bathroom with us, but she watches our other cats use the litter box too (much to their discomfort). When we scoop the boxes, she will come from wherever she’s hanging out to watch, get in the box WHILE I’m scooping, paw at the scoop or squat to do her business before I’m even done. I’ve had dominant cats insist on using the box immediately after scooping to reestablish scent, but not DURING scooping. In all my years as a cat guardian I have never seen this!
I have an official bathrooming inspector, too! Pumpkin is this super-solid, macho former barn cat who has developed some high-falutin’ expectations about litter boxes. He requires two litter boxes for himself and inspects the other cats’ post-use litter as well. And he somehow magically manages to slip into the bathroom every single time a household adult goes in and shuts the door. No clue how he manages that. Then he yowls and squeaks and squawks for a while. We call that “Office Hours,” a time for Dr. Pumpkin to tattle on the other cats and offer stern advice. When a beloved family member died last year, Dr. Pumpkin suspended Office Hours for a few weeks, then gradually got back into the rhythm. He’s a supercat!
I had 2 Aby brothers, and it befell to one of them to be The Official Bathroom Inspector. He had a lot of other duties as well (like The Official Welcomer Back Home). Sadly, that fellow has passed away, but his brother has now taken over his duties! He is 18 years old now and the light and love of my life. Btw, he somberly watched the whole devastating process of putting his brother down and wouldn't eat for the following 3 weeks. BUT then he discovered that he'd always wanted to be an only cat! Wonderfully affectionate old guy. Never further than a micron away from me. Always smiling. Just love him to pieces!
@@ethicscannie5716 Don’t you just adore cats who take on particular household roles?!? I’m so sorry your lead Official Bathroom Inspector (TOBI) was called away to other duties. What a tribute to him, though, that his brother has become TOBI and expanded the job description. 🐾🐾
I always felt bad that my cats wouldn't go into paper bags or boxes or anything to hide and play. Now I'm feeling pretty good about it LOL! Thanks again jackson! 😻
A strange cat thing i noticed is what my partner calls "droppies". Basically when im brushing our cat, or hes getting some good pets, he'll lean into it so hard he falls over. Seems like he's doing it on purpose, sometimes he'll just lay there on his side, or he'll get up and do it again. Very cute haha
Many cats flop over onto their sides to get pets down their flanks, not just back and head. Sometimes it's an invitation to belly pets. Be cautious there. 😃
My kitty does that with his butt end. Pushes it up on tippy toes while laying down on his front end. He looks like a 6 inch high heel, an orange one at that!
I’ve wondered for a while while our kitty sleeps so well at night and it’s because we’ve been doing the 3 meals, no free feeding, scheduled playtime just as standard because of your videos!!! That’s so sweet that’s she’s synced with our circadian rhythm - thank you!
I love reading the comments! I love to hear all the strange behaviors of other people's "babies." I have three and each one does "strange" things, each unique to them. I have realized that reading these comments that EVERY cat has a lot of similarities, but EVERY cat has something unique to that cat. I LOVE that!! I also realized that the more I worried about a certain behavior, the more they did it. I realized that they picked up on my worried and then "worried" with me. Once I stopped worrying, the strange things stopped. As long as things aren't harmful to them or to other people and animals, let them do it!!
"If it fits, I sits" I agree that seeking tight, covered places for safety is a part of it. However, the exact same behavior applies if they encounter anything new in the house, that can possibly, in any way, be sat on, including completely flat things, that don't provide any covering, at all. The cat will find it, examine it from all angles, poke it, sniff it, sit on it, and, quite likely, lie on it. They'll try it out, even if it's outright uncomfortable, such as a loose tile (cold and hard). As with so much about cats, figuring out why is pretty much guesswork. However, as extremely territorial animals, they depend on knowing and exploiting every resource on their territory. When something new shows up, and it's not a threat, they need to find out if it can be used to their benefit. In addition, when something new shows up in the house, there's a chance that the human has placed it there, specifically for the benefit of the cat; they're used to us doing and providing weird things, that turn out to be very useful for cat purposes. So, my theory is that it's simply a case of "this is new; I wonder if it's useful", sometimes combined with a strong conviction that "it must be; my humans placed it here for me".
One possibility is putting their scent on the new object to make it theirs. Cats create scent trails inside and around the home, that's why they rub against things and people and sit in odd places.
Interestingly, if you take masking tape and construct a rectangle with it on, say, your kitchen counter or on the floor, your cat will go into it as if it were a box (or a den or a lair) providing safe shelter. 😻🙀😻
Thanks Jackson; your information got me to have my first indoor cat ever, and I am so close to her it's a wonder. She greets me when I get home with a cheek to cheek purring hello (and scent-marking) by jumping to my shoulder (because of training as a catlete from her kitten days)
What a very helpful show. Thank you! It's nice to know what cat's behavior's mean. It's also good to know, although I need to help relieve some boredom, our cats feel safe and loved.
Love your kitty Jackson. Such a comforting channel....it's cold winter here in Canada My sweet cat loves looking over at night on the top of her cat tree at the decorated homes !!! She's sits still there,so happy. Like a child discovering Santa for the first time At 13, we've come so far together. She brings Sunshine into my days even if there's none. What a precious luv. Cats are truly awesome companions to ppl especially w mental health disorders & pain disorders. Or, Just Any Reason! She's taught me so much, the bond is super tight We are soulmates!!!!
Yes, indeed, they are awesome companions. I lost my husband of 40 years 2 years ago next month. I don't know what I would have done without them. His baby girl missed him terribly so I took her with me when I went to a friend's for Christmas. It was the best thing I ever did for her. She had never accepted me while he was here but away from the others she was able to bond with me.
100% agree about pain...i have chronic pain, and when I visit my parents, my baby girl (now 11) will lay against my legs and purr her heart out. Very soothing, sends me right to sleep to feel her weight against me. I foster cats with my housemates right now, and whilst our current boy isn't a lap cat, he will check up on me periodically. It's cold here in the rainy north, not great for my joints, and he really does lift my spirits. Hope you have a great day ♡

This was so interesting, my cat watched this entire video about weird things cat's do. He was glued to my phone screen. Thank you for all of your knowledge. We love it...
My explanation for the back ended compliment is simple. My cats have always known how beautiful their bottoms are and always know that humans would love to admire their gorgeous behinds.
Jackson, I just love your videos. You’re informative but never condescending. When I think I know why cats do.. whatever. I like to test myself against what you say. The authority on everything Meow , you help make kitty happy ( as happy as a cat gets) Our relationship is wonderful because I understand and can accommodate her needs. When she blinks at me or kneeds me, it’s all worth it. I appreciate you. 🐾
My kitten loves playing "Tag! you're it!". She also loves when we hide from her and then she comes running at us to pounce! Not sure what it really means but she has done it since we rescued her, she is only 8months old.
For real I spent several days trying to figure out why my cat sleeps on my chest like that! I was just watching this video for fun and I got my answer. My thought, for a long time, was she’s protecting me at night. Honestly I like both my thought and the actual reason, being seen as her mama.
One the strangest thing my cat does. He wakes up at 10pm EVERY NIGHT and I could set my clock by it. He alo catterwalls, plays and does zoomies. There are alot of things; to much to list. Last but not least I really think he is more of a dog sometimes. I love him more than anything!!😻😻😻
I understand the cat being a dog. My baby, Bernie will lick my feet and put his head in the toilet bowl like a dog. 🤣🤣which we close now. He is the absolute best ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
6.00am..... I've learned NOT to get up and feed him, as an insomniac I've frequently only had 2 hours sleep at that point. These days I ignore him, he zooms and plays, but usually stays out of my immediate space instead of trying, outright, to wake me. When he's done, he comes back into bed with me, and snuggles down for a couple more hours, until I can get up and interact with him, with love. He's a 2.5 Yr old, adopted Arabian Mau, who has been with me around 18 months.
@@roowyrm9576 this is a great story!! Cats are a lot of fun. Bernie is so entertaining!! I enjoy playing with him and watching how high he jumps and the flips he does chasing the feather on the end of the fishing rod. He loves feather. He will have it in his mouth and run around with it!! Sooo cute!!🥰🥰
I had an old cat that would drag all the dog toys into one place and cry atop the pile. It was his favorite thing, and he was still the quietest teenager we ever had, so we just laid in bed and hated it.
😂🤣 This was awesome! There’s also the “stamp trick” 😉 I’ve been blessed to be ‘Mom’ to cats and I love testing this. Have a completely clutter-free floor area or bed … put a stamp on the floor/bed and 80% of cats will go sit/lay on it 😻 You gotta just love their cat comedy 🤪
@@joanneweiss3864 not sure I have any stamps in the house since I don’t use snail mail a whole lot but I think I’ll try it with a small piece of paper. They should be cute.
Growing up we had a old tom cat I had named Tinker Toy. Tinker would occasionally come in the house, he lived outside. We would find him sound asleep in a loaf position all over the house, he could be anywhere. We finally noticed, he was sleeping on paper napkins that had fallen on the floor, scraps of paper anything that had escaped. It didn't matter the size. He was usually many times larger than what he was sleeping on. Never understood why he did that.❤
"the zoomies" OMG I busted out laughing! In our house we have a quarter horse! She goes from the back kitchen window ( her favorite) , strick through the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, up the stairs, run around there, and repeat her flight! My boyfriend and I both freeze wherever we are - she's almost knocked me on my ass more than once!!
I already heard all of this stuff from other videos or My Cat from Hell, but I still laughed my butt off, because that's the kind of person Jackson is, honestly 🤣 Always enjoy your videos, and it's never bad to have a refresher course 💙💙💙
Both my cats are what we call klepto-cats - they steal from us, yarn, coins, headphones etc. they wait till we see them do it and they seem to love the hunt afterwards
Many years ago I had a lovely little female cat who loved to steal my earrings off my dresser and run off with them if I didn't get up early enough to feed her.
I had 15 cats, they were my pride, joy all of them were cared for healthy, thriving. I can still remember all their names. Thank you Jackson I love all you videos, they love watching, My Cat From Hell.
This was a really good video. Love cats. First one passed away, hairball pneumonia, still miss him. New friend, Rose, beautiful Tuxedo, like the first one of 12 years. Thank you
So THAT'S why my cat chews plastic bags. Thank You! I thought he had some sort of pica, lol. He's not constant and it doesn't seem obsessive. I learn a lot on your channel. We have almost conquered the clawing the carpet problem, thanks to you, and are working on trimming his nails. Still a work in progress but we've made more headway in a few weeks after watching your video on this than in his whole 6 years of life.
This video made me realize 2 things I've been doing very well by instinct, but I didn't know how and why am I so good at, and I'm happy to have a better understanding: - I have a clockwork perfect sync with my cats in energy, the way I feed them and manage their daily schedule I have by accident synced them up well. - I'm not getting the backend compliment, but I've pretty much trained my cats that nose-nose touch is the "civilized" way to behave and what I expect of them. It's a fairly easy way to solve if you're annoyed by a cat butt regularly showing up in your face, just start petting them while touching nose-to-nose. They generally like it and it can be used as a replacement.
It always amazes me how two little kittens with zoomies can sound like a stampede of elephants running through the house.
right? I swear sometimes I think it’s one of my dogs having gotten out of their crate at night…and the one i’m thinking of weighs 60lbs!
There’s this invisible tribe of cobblers making hobnailed boots for cats ….
Yes! My boys are 15lbs and 18lbs... they're SO loud! Especially jumping from the 3rd level of the cat tree 🤣🤣🤣
Amen! My 7 lb. cat sounds like a full grown man tromping around in work boots.

😹😻 was thinking same, figured someone would beat me to comment!
Why you gotta call me out like that 😂
Soooo true🤭🙈🙈🙈
I do not know about all of that. What I do I know is that cats are charming and make me smile no matter how grumpy or angry I am. Cats do not bark, I like that.
One of my favorite cat behaviors is the tongue blep!😂😂 Its like they're cleaning along there and...random thought occurs...tongue stuck out mid-lick. "Um...where was I?"🥰
Love this video as it answers so many questions I've had for years!! Thank you!!
Also the sneeze tongue blep.
Tongue Blep 🤣🤣 I love that.

I love you Jackson my. Cat does the galloping boy every morning
He flies through the house
I got the back end just now
Ours only do that when they catch something alive.
When Fizzy is laying on her back paws up we call that the 'Venus kitten trap' bc if you can't resist touching the fluff the trap springs on you lol
Exactly 💯 😸
Love this, mine too, stealing😂😻

Yes, and it's really cute :)
Yes, I have one that hugs exactly like this. I think it's to share scent, both pasting her scent on and experiencing the scent of what's being hugged. She's a breeding queen and often hugs her babies this way as well.
Yes!!! I’ve had a couple of cats do this. Claws come out when I try to take my hand back before kitty is done with this kind of hug 😂
My senior boi does this occasionally when I pet him (he does not show me his belly). I’ve learned that means my hand is his for as long as he desires.
My rescue does this as well
Oh yeah! My Tortie does that every time!
When i am petting my cats face sometimes she will grab my hand with her front paws and squeeze it against her face like a hug. She could nap like that for an hour or more if I let her! 💕
That is soo precious 😍

You are one lucky human!
It's funny when we think we know what we want and end up with something entirely different that fits perfectly. Happened to me with the last little dog I adopted. He is a super companion, and bonus, resembles the dog on my family's coat of arms...lol.
Cuddle time!!!!
It's not the human who choses its cat, it's the cat who choses its human(s) :)
Good save Donna. For both of you. Well done. Best wishes.
What a nice comment…. Expressed my feelings also
When i pass by my relaxing kitty she stickers her paw at lightly swats my leg. Cute but why?
Mz Pepper has blossomed into a loving, almost adoring, cat. So happy to have her as part of the family! :)

If you plan to make a part 2 for weird behaviors, why will cats sometimes do aggressive air licking when you give them scratchies?
I’ve heard it’s a form of overstimulation
You’re rubbing down next to their tail I’d bet. I think there’s a sexual gland there.
Probably a grooming reflex. I knew a cat that overgroomed her forelegs and would start trying to groom when she was being cleaned since she was too fat to properly clean her backside.
good idea!

Phone is rectangular and warm! Mine likes it!
Kira. That's cute
Ha! I knew a guy who's cat buried his keys in the litter box!
@@joperez6745 YES, the paper thing! Sometimes I can't even like, put down a shopping list for two seconds with my cat going MINE. :P
my favorite thing about cats honestly is their adaptability to our behaviors and how they learn to use our cues and social behaviors for their benefit
Yeah, in terms of communication I think they are smarter than us
@@eradkova I agree.
UPDATE:
So, up until now, my vet HAS approved burping Sparky.
So wonderful you were persistent in your hunt to help your cat. What a precious story.
Thank you for being such a thoughtful cat parent! I'm glad he's getting some relief.

That story was absolutely 💯 percent ADORABLE!

Another puurrrfect vlog Jackson! Thanks again for all you do to help cat owners be the best care givers they can be!
Hi, Relax! Nice to see you here. My five cats and I love your music -- four girls and one boy.
Thank you! 🙏😺❤️❤️❤️ 🐾🐾🐈💕🐈💕🐈💕🐈💕🐈💕🐾🐾
A brown grocery bag. Our cat Loves it. Our cat kneeds all the time and even tries to nurse on it.
I think it's advertent. :)
thanks so much for the kindness! and yes, @Grace Peterson it’s advertent! 😻
Ha.

My cat Sunny does the cat hug all the time- literally right in the middle of the walk way most of the time and makes air biscuits! It’s so cute!
I had a cat named Sunny too! He was a silver persian.
Haha “im not suggesting anything” to the back ended complement
I recently got some of those pads which reflect body heat back to the cat. My elderly cats love them!
Strangest thing: I had a kitty named lucky. She was long haired grey. She would find all the baby socks in the house she could and burry them outside under the stairs.
Still to this day no idea why.
My cat weird behavior: She gets the zoomies nearly EVERY time she uses the litter box (regardless if it's #1 or #2).😹😹
My cat did the same. 😂
All my cays did/do that! I honestly thought it happens to all of them : )) it's so funny, babies feel relief and get energetic))
My eldest cat does this!
Mine sometimes does this… when she doesn’t feel like burying her turds.☹️

Our cat is 90 years old in cat years and has renal disease. We love him so much! We’re used to having all this love and he gets sicker and sicker. It breaks my heart. We don’t know what to do when he passes. I can’t imagine not having my sweet kitty around. Other ppl tell me to get another cat. But, I’m not sure I can😢
He’s a rescue kitty.
That’s because he is the official bathroom inspector and you guys better listen to him!! 😂😂

Just love the Stranger Things graphics….and the BIG YELLOW EYES. This shows gonna be good!😹😻😺
A strange cat thing i noticed is what my partner calls "droppies".
Ah, the famous "lateral instability" as noted by the Cats for Engineers TH-cam guy!

Jackson is KILLED IT with these videos. I've learned so much from the uploads and actually made 1 cat friend. :)
You are such a blessing ❤️
I recognised this is everything our darling departed cat did. Such a revelation! Thank you. All love.
"If it fits, I sits"
I agree that seeking tight, covered places for safety is a part of it.
@@ethicscannie5716 I have to try that!

To me cats sitting in boxes is not that wierd. I love to stand small spaces like in niches and behind pillars.

Thanks Jackson; your information got me to have my first indoor cat ever, and I am so close to her it's a wonder. She greets me when I get home with a cheek to cheek purring hello (and scent-marking) by jumping to my shoulder (because of training as a catlete from her kitten days)

We would find him sound asleep in a loaf position all over the house, he could be anywhere. We have almost conquered the clawing the carpet problem, thanks to you, and are working on trimming his nails. Still a work in progress but we've made more headway in a few weeks after watching your video on this than in his whole 6 years of life.
I love when cats knead stray cats do that on my lap all the time
This video made me realize 2 things I've been doing very well by instinct, but I didn't know how and why am I so good at, and I'm happy to have a better understanding:
- I have a clockwork perfect sync with my cats in energy, the way I feed them and manage their daily schedule I have by accident synced them up well.
