I know people always say 'adopt don't shop' and that cat breeds are just for looks in the end. . . but we'll never see established breeds if breeders aren't supported. We've learned so much about dogs BECAUSE of breeders. . . sometimes I think cats need that attention too. The typical domestic shorthair will always be the perfect cat. . .but what cat isn't perfect? If one's heart is set on something like a Bengal or Ragdoll, breed adoption isn't always an option. . .especially if you're wanting to screen for genetic problems. By all means, adopt . . .but sometimes. . .sometimes you want a very specific kitty. . .and that's okay too and the cat world really really needs to stop getting hung up on that.
@@BrittKatSlat Here is your answer. Perhaps they are allergic to cats and are searching for a 'breed' that is hypoallergenic, such as a Bengal, Russian Blue or Siberian etc.
@@BrittKatSlat Again though. . .we learned a lot about dog health and wellness BECAUSE of ethical breeders taking the time to establish breed standards. The same can be true for cat. I literally have nothing against mixed breeds. I own to random DSH strays taken literally out of my neighborhood. Our eventual third is likely to be the same. BUT, ethical breeding done PROPERLY seeks to eliminate health risks. If someone WANTS and has PREFERENCE for something like a Maine Coon, I would trust an ethical breeder over a rescue that can't trace lineage, can't tell me potential healthrisk, and can't say for sure if the big long hair they have is even a Maine Coon to begin with. Explain to me why the cat world is so hung up on people having preference to the pet they choose to bring into their home. We don't give the side-eye to people that want a Golden Retriever over the random pitbull/corgi mutt. Why are you so judgemental towards the people that desire a Cornish Rex over the random inbred calico? Because there are millions more of them? I'm not saying Shop Don't Adopt. I still encourage people to look towards adoption FIRST. But if someone WANTS something specific, they are allowed to want that, and judging them for that preference is asinine if they've DONE the research and the cat in question is being a GOOD CARING LOVING home.
i used to show my pet cat in the CFA show when it would come to boston ma. i had a cat named Kelsey she won best hh pet in show im looking for some materail on that show it was at a hotel in copley square in boston ty in advance
That black goo is sebum and dead skin cells. I have elderly Sphynx, and I use a toddler's toothbrush and some Dawn dish soap to clean off that goo. Their ears get really dirty quickly too, and must be cleaned often. Just because they have peach fuzz, dosen't mean they don't need grooming. They are a high maintenance breed. (Jan Griffiths).
Can you please show the cats more and less camera shots of the women speaking? It would be nice to be looking at the cat she is so nicely explaining in detail!! Specifically the Havana Brown, we did not see much of that cat at all!!! Would love to have seen its green eyes!
Thank you for sharing the cat show. I am hoping you can help me with trying to decide on which gender of cat to adopt. I am a Gramma, 73 years old and in pretty good health. I hope to adopt an adult cat and not a kitten. My son has a female Bengal about three years old. Freya is sweet and gentle, not aggressive or domineering. My son and I have talked about him taking my cat when I no longer can care for it. My dilemma is should I adopt a female or a male should my son have to care for my cat. Some say a male and female get along better and never put two females together. I know it may sound silly to you to worry about my cat's future if I no longer can take care of it but I believe that ensuring my cat's safety and future are important. I have done a lot of research but do not have an answer. Should I get a male or female cat? If you could give me an idea about what to do I would be grateful. Thanks.
Hey thanks for reaching out! You ask many good questions, and love that you are thinking about the future :). I would say a male or female cat wouldn’t matter too much if you spay or neuter them. And if you get a cat from a reputable breeder, over many generations they have bred them to be super friendly and can get along. Some breeds are definitely more friendly and sociable than others. Here is a video I did on the differences between male and female cat: The Key Differences between Male and Female Cats | The Cat Butler th-cam.com/video/hw4sLSUNC2I/w-d-xo.html

Glad you enjoyed the video :) and thanks for the kind words!
@@TheCatButler Welcome😊. Haven't you taken Arya & Teemo there?
I have not. I think Teemo and Arya may have stage fright haha
@@TheCatButler
The whole video I awaited their arrival😄
I know there were 11 breeds not shown in this video but strongly suspect the Egyptian Shirazi was not among them. The breed is a cross between the Persian and the Egyptian Mau. It has the longer legs of the Mau & the long fur of the Persian. It has a semi-flat face and the most common colours are brown tabby and ginger (on the back) shading to a cream belly & can have white markings on face, chest & paws
"My cats don't kayak" 😂 6:55
Oh, i guess this cat does 😅 34:07
I know breeding is basically eugenics, but I've been to a cat show once and it was great fun. We came back with a British Shorthair, we named her Biche.
Seller lied about her age, she was a few months older than what they told us. RIP Biche "Don Quichatte". I'll never forget you.
You got her at the show? How sick is that?!
@@lookilookibuthearingtooi Many breeders have kittens for sale at shows. I never did. I took pictures of kittens I had for sale, and interested parties could get in touch with me afterward. Sometimes I was showing a kitten in the kitten class (4 to 8 months of age), and someone was interested in buying that kitten. However, I did not allow them to take the kitten home until the show was over. (Jan Griffiths).
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have a long legged Munchkin, 2 elderly Sphynx ( one 18 and the other 20), and a brown classic tabby and white (mostly white) 14 year old mixed breed. The youngest is the Munchkin at age 9. I love all of them dearly, and used to breed and show Sphynx and Siamese. I also showed cats for other people. Cat shows are a lot of fun. I miss going to them, but work won't allow me to attend. All of the cats in this video were just gorgeous. It's a shame that there are so few Havana Browns around. I almost bought one. (Jan Griffiths).
It's not fun for the animals AT ALL. So, no, you don't love cats you just like showing them off. ;)
@@lookilookibuthearingtooi Most cats sleep during the show while in their benching cages. They do fine, and it's not harmful at all. And I DO love cats. ALL cats. (Jan Griffiths).

The sphynx cat looks a bit pre-historic. I like the britch short hair or the russian blue.
It’s funny because they are relatively recent 1960s I believe and from Canada 😂 I have one and he’s the sweetest boy ever.
I’ve found my people ☺️
Advice: Play the video at 1.5-1.75× speed for the narrator's dialogue to be read at normal speed.
Well said.
No
Tell me why it is that we value certain BREEDS? It’s unnecessary. It’s actually unhealthy for cats. And nearly prejudice of mixed breeds.
Dude i like your stuff, but you could have mentioned that some breeds are torture breeding, like scottish fold
I am somali and it is crazy to see a cat that is called somali😂
I showed Abys and Somalis. Only difference is coat length.
@@JNoMooreNumbersthey are so cute, thank you for showing your cats. We don't see too many of either these days.
i used to show my pet cat in the CFA show when it would come to boston ma. i had a cat named Kelsey she won best hh pet in show im looking for some materail on that show it was at a hotel in copley square in boston ty in advance
siberian cat ❤❤❤
i also have siberian ❤❤
Spinx cats are SO MUCH MAINTENANCE to prevent them from being GROSS. Omg the black goo in the nail sockets 🤢
How was the time-lapse effect achieved in this video?
Here is a video I did on the differences between male and female cat: The Key Differences between Male and Female Cats | The Cat Butler

Thank you for responding. After watching your video I think I will look for a personality similar to Freya. Love your cats. Love watching your channel.
What are your predictions for the next video?

Hi! I need to ask you something. I am writing an E book on Cats and I would like to include this link for people to click on it and watch it on your channel. Am I allowed to do it or I have to pay for Rights?. I would really appreciate it if you could clarify this, ´cause if you allow me, I could include some other links to videos from your channel.
Yeah you can link the video! Share it when you finish. Love to read it
Hope the PUSPIN breed will be recognize soon..from Philipines😂
Sorry so little time was spent on Siamese... it's a cat of royal history, super smart and is one of, if not the most engaged kitties, usually talking constantly with their humans...
I hate the way they handle the cats so aggressively. They are living creatures, not toys.
some judges are rough with the cats, those are the judges you usually pull your cat from that ring
i do live in boston
My friend kitty look like a Japanese Bob tail but what happened was happened it was just hit by a truck as a kitten that I got let by mistake and was okay. ( roofers where working on the house and we’ll they open the door as well or something and ran out in the street.)
i do beleive it in 1993 or 1994 around there ittook place in feb.i do beleive
I have a Scottish fold cats and my Cattery registered in Tica 🌼KateLovesCats 🌼 I would love to take my cats on show but I don’t know where to start 😢
How about not supporting this sick breed? In my country they are banned because it's cruel to breed them.
