  • This is a perfect first car for novice drivers. It's got a modern look, and a great feel for a compact car. There are two engine capacity options. For our test drive, we chose the 59-kW version -- but both engines are pretty fuel-efficient.

I love that the 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder, 78 horsepower engine is the "high power" option. I own one of these and it's great!

I think this car is good for older drivers too. Even with keyless you get buttons so you can drive it blind like in a car of the 80's, in terms of engine sound, gear shifts, engine torque and revving, the two classical levers, and a regular classic cluster, feels completely old school. Its very comfy, safe with all driving aids and airbags, fair quality all around for the price, and a surprising performance due to the lightweight, and surprising economy. I came to drive this car by chance and Im quite impressed. Also the brand and premium looks is kind of cool, as a renowned 4WD, suv and rally brand. You can enjoy your naturally aspirated, manual gear, as its fitted with a high quality (from upper range suvs) steering wheel and gear lever in leather, to have fun driving in town.

I don't want my car to excite me. I want it to bring me from A to B comfortably without ever breaking down and with the least fuel useage possible. I like this car still after 70.000km of driving it (with CVT). Still, zero defects. Not even a light bulb broke.

It's fun to see the European reviews. In the US, reviewers don't give this car a chance. I want a car to be economical and reliable. I believe this will do nicely.

Which small car has more head room than this? I am sorry, but there is enough space there, the Germans didn't buy expensive Mitsubishi cars in the past with lots of equipment, so the company moved their focus on cheap ones with a great value for money, but in Germany people are still not satisfied, they want to have expensive features packed in cheap cars, they pay a higher price only for German brands.

Same thing here in the U.S., the Mitsubishi Mirage (aka Space Star, aka Attrage, aka Dodge Attitude) these types of cars are seen as "it's better than a bus pass" and looking at the types of vehicles on the road here it's understandable why they'd think that. This review is a bit misleading and biased though so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

It's very typical for car manufacturers, at least the Japanese ones, to not put in all the goodies, tech and features on the North American verisons vs. the global verisons. I'm not sure exactly why this is, there are probably a few ideas out there as to why. Is it because of affordability?? Because when you start to add heated seats and sunroofs and parking sensors and leather, it jacks up the price so maybe they do it to keep the price of the car low?? However, if you look at BMW and Mercedes-Benz.... These cars are an absolute waste of money. They drive really nice and handle great, but when they start to break down, the parts costs are astronomical vs. normal parts costs on say a Honda or Toyota. But those cars have a high initial price to begin with, so apparently it's not like Americans are so poor that we can't afford heated seats and leather options on cheaper cars. On my old Mazda5, when they were sold here in the U.S., the Mazda5 has sliding doors on both sides of the car. There was a bunch of dummy buttons (place holder covers) to the left of the steering wheel and I always used to wonder what that was for. Until I saw a video of the Mazda5 in Japan (called the Premacy) and that button cluster is for optional POWER SLIDING DOORS that are available for the Japanese market but not for our market. 😡
