Thanks Keith, I always appreciate your comments. This is going to be my new format for the foreseeable future on my review videos. Showing batteries and other components in practical use, and tracking usage and input of various things people need to actually do in real life offgrid. That was the main intent of the channel when I started it, to give people a better idea of what real-world usage looks like to help form ideas of what someone might need to consider when choosing the components to build their system. Then all these battery reviews came up and became sort of a distraction in a lot of ways, but at the same time was sort of a necessity for my main goals. I don't know why it took me awhile to think of merging the 2 concepts right into the reviews as much as I can and not lose sight of the channels goal really. So that's what I plan to do with most of my reviews from now on.
I bought mine off of Amazon. Just bought 2 to use for a Solar Power Box. I've load tested them in parallel but I haven't completely drained them yet. I got these bc they had the smallest physical size of any of the other mini batteries I could find. So far they are working great. Good to know they'll get a little over the 100Ah. Thanks for the info!
No prob, and yea it’s the smallest physical size out of the 4 different “mini” batteries I have. I’d like to have a couple of these for a diy power station and may buy another one to go with it for same reason as you. These 100ah batteries are like Lays potato chips, you can’t have just one.🤪
Thanks for this video capacity test. I already knew dr.prepare was going to exceed ah rating. My question is does it actually have low and high temp safety features? It would be cool if you did an actual review of that.
It says it does, and I didn't think to do that for some reason. I'm not going to be cutting batteries open anymore though. I cut open the group 31 size Dr, Prepare battery to test the low temp feature and make sure it worked only because they specifically asked me to do that, and I hurt myself pretty bad doing that video. I know cutting them open is what people want, but I have some neurological issues and wielding sharp objects while juggling heavy things triggers tremors in my hands and it's just not something I can really do unless I can find a safer way for me to do it (some kind of clamping mechanism maybe). I do not (yet) have a deep freezer, but this small battery I could have fit in my regular fridge/freezer but I just didn't think about it because I'm used to doing the bigger batteries lately and those big ones will not fit in my fridge/freezer... Maybe I will make a follow-up video testing the low temp cutoff on this one. If you go to 4:02 and hit pause you can see what the manual says about the low and high temp protection numbers. I'll try and do a followup and test at least the low temp. I believe there is a misprint in the low temp protection section of the manual that says 23 degrees, and it's supposed to read 32F, which is freezing and equal to 0 Celsius. and then it reconnects at 41F and (or 5C), and the high temp I believe it is saying it triggers at 131F to shutdown, and comes back on at 113F. Either way 90's is fine unless maybe it was sitting in direct sunlight with that black case. I plan to get a chest freezer as soon as I can afford one and figure out where I'm going to put it just to be able to test the cold temp protection. Living in an RV things are pretty tight in here but I'm workin on it. I have pretty good confidence in Dr. Prepare, and they had to have enough confidence in it to even ask me to cut a battery open and test that function to share on TH-cam. That says a lot to me. It's a pretty new battery and I'm sure one of the other teardown guys will get one soon. They usually seem to get stuff before I do so I am kinda surprised nobody's done it yet.
They must've JUST put these Minis out. I was browsing their site yesterday looking at the (bigger/same capacity) PowerMax with the input/output power hub, and these weren't there. Low temp cutoff is a nice addition - the Li Time Mini doesn't have it.
Yea, those powemax ones are really cool. I need to try and get my hands on one of those to check it out. I really like Dr. Prepare. I really like LiTme too but yea, their current mini one doesn't have low temp protection for some reason. Their group 24 does tho... I got a video on that one in the works. Only thing I don't like about these mini's is, none of them seem to be the same size, and a lot of them are pretty darn close to the same size as a group 24, which is still a great size to me. But, I wish they would create some standards for 'mini' so we know what we are getting... that will come in time I imagine. I think pretty soon low temp protection will also become pretty standard issue... hopefully.
@@enigmascape I was thinking about buying the Li Time Group 24 before I saw this video and checked Amazon - currently only $199! I pulled the trigger. Hopefully someone posts a teardown vid before it ships (to give me an opportunity to cancel if they happen to be junk on the inside). I agree re: lack of standard size for a 'mini', but I don't really intend to use this in a pack - for others, it might be a bigger deal.
Great info as always! Liked the portion with you actually using it. Looking forward to seeing your next video!

Great video brother do you have to buy all these batteries - that is just a lot of cash

Price
$199.99 on Amazon. Prices tend to fluctuate on all these batteries. So that's the price as of today.
