Thank alot for the 4 videos and checklists, super clear way to show that making a awesome drum sound is made up of small elements. Just tried my very first time as new to the entire process :)
Damn, that's crazy. You just helped me so much. The way you explain things is so clear and concise. Really makes sense when you A/B every little step. Thank you!
Greetings from New Zealand Colin. Really loving these insightful & easy to follow tutorials which are right on point for the indie rock genre. I'm mixing along with a 170bps track I'm working on & found these drum tutorials really helpful, although dialing some levels back in the context of my mix. I've used other youtuber tutorials in the past & ended with my tracks generally over-processed I think, but still an old guy learning new tricks. Watched your Garageband master session. Will you do your Logic version at some point? Cheers mate.
This is great. I followed all your steps and they sound so good and realistic. I used this technique on the 'Liverpool' kit - sounds so much fuller! Just one question: how can I use this new improve kit in other projects with these settings?
Been watching your videos for a long time now Colin. I always like/thumbs up them and of course I’m subscribed but I rarely say anything. Just wanted to say thank you for all you do, your great videos and content and how thorough and affable you are. Hope ya keep it up. Easily my most watched channel on You Tube.
Now that Logic Pro is coming to iPad, I’m definitely going to watch all your Logic videos. Hopefully all the options in the Mac version will be in the iOS one too.
That’s a great point, Scott! Very accessible price point for BIG feature jumps. I haven’t seen the iPad app yet, but they promise it will be able to pass back and forth with the macOS version, so I bet it will be pretty identical
Thank you Colin, this is a great upgrade on the GB series. The original vids were the ones that got me subscribed to your channel . Some great tips in here. Hey, maybe you put this on the iPad too :)
You’ve been here pretty much since the beginning, John! Very excited to hear about Logic on the iPad. I think it’s going to increase a lot of accessibility for a lot of people!
Great techniques Colin. I've found myself using parallel compression quite a lot lately, made an amazing difference to one particular vocal track that is rather muddy before any processing but now sounds great at least to me and sits beautifully in the mix.
This is incredible! Thanks so much for doing this!! You brought my drums to life. One Q though: can I do this same process without a drum machine, but with a midi drum line that I make up?
Great tips, Colin. Can't help but wonder how long it took you to learn to do all this?! Many months ago, I used your ' Brooklyn' kit tweaks (on GB, with overhead/rooms settings, and so on) very helpful. Thank you.
Colin, This series is great! Really helpful. I've been struggling with how to use drummer to "invent" beats and customize the drum part so it's not as homogeneous as the stock parts tend to be. I know that by changing the tracks to MIDI they are editable. But I'm trying to find an intuitive way to interact with drummer with a mix of MIDI generated "free hand" hits and the stock drummers. Also wondering if using live loops or the step sequencer would be useful, but having a hard time getting started with it. Thanks again for all your stuff!
Hey Antonio! Have you seen this video I did on customizing drum parts with GarageBand drummer? It all carries over if you’re using Logic! th-cam.com/video/lRttxYPSxcQ/w-d-xo.html
Great video...could hear the differences in my computer speakers. Great for this genre. How would you approach the drums for say a Gordon Lightfoot song. (using the auto drummer)
Send the drums that you want Reverb on to a bus, then add reverb and a compressor to duck the initial drum hit so you don't muddy up the drums. Check this video from Streaky to see how he uses it on Vocals - but you can also use this on the drums... th-cam.com/video/CUyMUHStPxs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8BcFC6NFkqtzTW9_

Really a good 4 parts tutorial! Thank you!
One of the very few good and useful drummix-reverb videos!
Man! What a discovery! Can go to bed happy. Look forward to checking out more of your vids
Absolutely fantastic series on using Logic Drummer. Thank you very much!

I've been wondering for years what to do with the stock room sound. Life changing advice (like usual). THANK YOU, Colin!
Thanks for this - it's been super helpful! Love the mini course format!
Woow Thanks, This Gives Drums That Live Feeling it works onders. We learn everyday

That’s awesome, John!
Thanks for this unbelievable content!
Your sharing the industry gems thank you 🔥💯
Thanks for this series - really helpful. Where exactly in the context of your six-step mixing process would you do this drum processing?
Fantastic series man! I noticed there wasn’t enough time to talk about the ability to change your microphones as well (room, overhead etc)
Would you happen to have a video for workflow on saving all this so it will pull up quickly on the next project?
This is incredible! Thanks so much for doing this!! You brought my drums to life. One Q though: can I do this same process without a drum machine, but with a midi drum line that I make up?

Great ❤ all the series are ❤️🙏
I'm going to try this right away. Do you EQ the reverbs at all?
Thank you.
You're welcome!

Great, thanks!
Is there a way to save all this as a preset to use for new tracks
Why you always using midi drums in logic and not raw drums?
Convenience

You created bus 6 sent some drums then you said aux 20 & didn’t explain anything about that?
