9:13 I was getting desparate trying to hear the difference with the filtered reverb ... then remembered that I had switched my system to MONO earlier this morning. It's very hard to hear differences in Room sound when in MONO as it seriously "tones down" any reverbs. IN stereo, the difference is quite huge.
10:19 it makes even more of a difference in the Mix. It's funny because musically the "Mud" in the drums ALONE isn't such a big problem to my ears. But in a mix with guitars and vocals it can become a real problem. So an in the mix demonstration is always valuable in this case as well, as it shows how "cloudy" it gets if these aspects are not treated.

14:30 is there a gate plugin where we can determine the curve of the release, on top of release time, I always feel it would be good to have a curve parameter similar to the the izotope transient designer.

I had no idea how to eq drum tracks although I am using drum plugins, thank you for telling why you did what you did. Greetings from Çanakkale Turkey ❤

Thanks Chris, interesting concepts discussed here.. Im slowly getting some better results in Cubase (from PT), its still a bit sticky but its getting easier. I'll pick up your cubase course as soon as my student grant comes int! Thanks Mate!

Very helpful, Chris, thank you. This kind of video helps to keep things in order.
And, people: if Chris has something to say about drums mixing, listening is mandatory.

Nice informative video! This is deffo something i will implement on an upcoming mix. I also want to thank you for all content you have here, helped me a lot when I recorded, mixed and mastered an "covid19 album" when my band laid dormant due to the pandemic.

Very helpful as always Chris I use some of these same techniques on my drums as well.
I use to use Slate Triggers but my dongle ilok didn’t work when I update to win 10. I use Addictive Trigger plugins.
    And EZ Drummer 2 now.
Do you have any videos on how you edit, EQ and mix drums?
    thanks!!

Reaper is excellent. Used cakewalk for years until they went belly up. Reaper is simple, clean and powerful!

former Reaper user here, back on Cubase. And finally: very happy, I must say. Reaper is more for people who spend a lot of time fiddling with it.^^ I hate that Reaper comes with quasi no sample content, no VSTis, only a handfull ugly half-baked onstock plugins. You have to buy extra thirdparty and install it. And you have adjust all the overwhelming settings up to the Reaper GUI (under the hood it still looks like Office 95, not very inspiring) Then you can just use Cubase. ^^

A bit too slow, but I can understand the money it can generate...
We all need this at this side of this planet...
Great tutorial, open to all different situations, not boxed to "do this", "use this", "this frequency"...
    Cool!!!

The correct way to calculate time in relation to tempo is to divide 60(seconds) with the tempo. So in this case 31ms has no relation, it should be 121ms.

No You was in right, because you're speaking about predelay, while the BPM/60000 formula Is about the TOTAL time =predelay +decay time, to be in sync with the groove of the song 😉@@mixdownonline

I find the math approach a bit overrated. I prefer to feel it out. The tail disappears in the mix differently depending on the reverb type and patch.
