@@999metalhead7 Legends 🙏❤️🙏Michael Hutchence is my second favorite front man of all time (I'm a huge fan of The Rolling Stones 😉) but for me the best live band is INXS. Greetings from Croatia, Tanja ✌️
I think some of it was the hatred between Michael and a certain someone, which sucks because there were 5 other very talented men in INXS. I keep hoping one day we might see a reunion of just Andrew, Garry, Jon, Tim and Kirk. Between them, their voices are decent enough...they don't need anyone else. (I have a feeling Michael would somehow lend a hand if they did!) It's too late for an induction this year, (2022) but there's a petition you can sign to help them out! Just look at several INXS videos on TH-cam...you can't miss it! Rock On, Michael. ✌& ❤

You're very lucky ! I would have given anything to be there ! Were you there the whole day seeing the openings acts ? Fun fact : I read in their book, Michael gave Kirk an ecstasy pill but told him not to take it until this song . You can see him chewing it if you look close 😂
I was traveling to Australia at the time of his passing and one day I was in Sydney downtown and everything was blocked. I saw all these funeral cars driving in front of me and someone in the crowd told me it was his funeral procession, I was in shock. Still one of my favorite bands/singer ever! I view this song as a lesson or reminder about the enormous variety of other people's lives with which we are surrounded in our urban environments, as when you pass a few dozen cars on the freeway and have the idle thought of wondering about the business of each. I feel certain that Michael Hutchence was inspired by Georges Perec's novel "Life: A User's Manual" when he wrote "The Stairs" for INXS. This is a melancholy song about isolation in the midst of a crowded space, a kind of starvation surrounded by plenty. Some of the song's lines are cribbed from the novel's opening chapter (which is titled "On the Stairs"). Perec has a different take in his novel, which centers on life in an apartment complex: his denizens who surround one another are all explicitly linked together in some way, although what the whole looks like is left a mystery to them. Hutchence and Perec reach the same conclusion, but Hutchence, with the additional lyrics he adds, perceives it as a problem that shouldn't just be accepted as a fact of life and dismissed.
And to think Michael had to be talked into being the lead singer...He only ended up being one of the best frontmen to ever do it. RIP Michael Hutchence. Thank you.

I'm 54 now but you move on to new music as you get older DMB, The Black Keys, etc but this is the music I grew up to. You forget this at times in your life and at that very trigger moment whatever that may be you get sucked back this and your overwhelmed by so many emotions, it's a blend of everything. Very bittersweet.
Been listening to all their songs lately.. So many great memories, the music is so uplifting in a time for me that is one of the toughest times of my life. I thank INXS for their music, It gives me so much joy and happiness. I remember having the cassette tape and the album, singing to it in front of my mirror as a teenager.. time flys. I am grateful that TH-cam has all these precious treasures that we can relive, discover, touch our hearts and brighten our world.. I read somewhere once that Michael wondered if the music will matter to others years later. 🥰🙌🌠 The music and the impact the band had on our hearts matters forever and more than you'll ever know!! Grateful!
He’s so amazing. Great singer. Not one bad note. Charismatic. MASCULINE. Beautiful. We miss you Michael. And the entirety of INXS: just a great solid band. Excellent musicians. Now that I’m “older & wiser” can honestly say: I think they were better than U2.
I agree seen both bands inxs 1991 and 93 ,and u2 92 and 93 ,u2 were a bigger act but there stageshow was overwhelming, wether on the other hand inxs were just a live band on stage and they were better.
I don’t get what’s so critically important about being considered ‘masculine’ or having to consider someone ‘masculine’? This is just a stereotype that binds people. People are kaleidoscopes, the combinations of their traits are countless, and still we try to limit people by these unnatural impositions. He’s a man. He projects a strong powerful sexually passionate persona onstage. But so do Madonna and other women. Does this makes them ‘masculine’?
Brilliant, this must be one of their most iconic numbers! back in 1991 INXS were absolutely on top of their game... and of course with Michael H one of rock's very best frontmen.. the man can't be replaced!!!

@@jazshas hah yep I just graduated and there was no better way to end off high school than with discovering this band. criminally underrated along with X. everyone says kick was their best production and it is a great album, but X was so refined and articulate, to me that was their peak as far as production goes. the variety of the music genres is also so refreshing. anyways im rambling because I enjoy talking about this band, enjoy though!
You're lucky, in a way, that you're able to "binge-watch" INXS's career. For those of us who loved them near the beginning, and then how to see how it, more or less, ended was a real gut-punch!
Always loved these guys. Unfortunately my gf (now wife) and I didn't have a dime in our pockets to buy concert tickets very often. But over the years since we've seen them all. From punk bands to Springsteen and these guys are right up there for a concert for the ages.

I’ve always been drawn to music that moves me. INXS is definitely one of those bands. Sometimes it’s so hard to pinpoint exactly what it is about certain music that makes you move and come alive. I’ve thought about this a lot with INXS, and I think it’s a combo of: Unparalleled tone/melodies/energy/soulfulness by Hutchence. He’s just so good at connecting with his audience and causing you to feel something. You can feel his heart n soul (and sometimes libido LOL) in every note. Every band member is excellent at their respective craft. They know how to gel their sound together and most of all- they genuinely look and feel like they love their music and playing together. Can’t say that about many bands. And they’re not arrogant pricks in interviews like so many musicians. Except for Michael a bit in the later years but I think it’s obvious his head injury changed his personality. So sad. Either way, their music is timeless and will live on. Much respect and gratitude 🙌❤️
It's s Sept 25th , 2024. And The X Album was released in 1991. So, this great song is celebrating 33 blessed years! ✌️💪😃👍 Storey to storey, building to building, street to street, we pass each other on the stairs! ✌️😎👍
Back when we all knew the songs and band members’ names. Lol 😂 I thank God for being part of generation x where I’ve enjoyed great bands, songs, and movies.
This is unforgettable and I wish I could have been there. What's crazy is I had a chance to see them in Spokane Washington and I was married at the time and the person that had the tickets was a good friend of mine and my wife at the time said I would regret it if I go so I didn't get to go. Funny but what I regret is not going to see them cause I got divorced soon after that 😡 👎 damnit man, PAIN FULL 👺👺😡😡

I saw this mob in a Sydney Aussie pub before the rest of the world embraced them. Was so close to Michael on the small stage...I'll never forget. Thankyou INXS for great memories.
Such a rich and strong vocal. Hutchence was always appreciated as the front man of his day. The evolution and success where jim Morrison couldn't quite go. The authentic control of tone and vibrato showed the depth of talent because he always hit his notes with strength and confidence. I feel his masterful skills as a gifted vocalist didn't quite get the recognition he deserved. The tightness of the ensemble band is rare and when Hutchence died, left a gaping hole in the music world, refilled temporarily only with their rich catalogue of videos, albums and performances. God bless.
I remember with great affection, I was a fan of INXS from the first day I listened to them, this was my first concert and it left me totally shocked, it's like the first love I will always carry with me.

still have the INXS concert ticket from 1991 Hungary in perfect condition, not for sale, maybe I will auction it before I die.
Very underrated song... But a true masterpiece...
Nothing underrated about this song didn’t have to be number one in every country in the world but a masterpiece from INXS
@@toddheath521 I wish it was over 7 minutes. That would be SUPER

How close are they to becoming inducted into the Hall of Fame? All the boxes have been checked. IT IS SINCERELY 100% DESERVING…. ✨💫💥✨⚡️🌟
Still not enough signatures on the petition 😞
Pero q pedazo de tío ,,,, me encanta,, q pena q no esté❤
Grateful!
I hope he knows that we still love him and his music for eternity! ❤
To this day, still the best gig I've ever been to. What a charismatic frontman he was.
“Do you LEAD or are you LED?” Humanity’s 2022 anthem for the year!
He’s so amazing. Great singer. Not one bad note. Charismatic. MASCULINE. Beautiful. We miss you Michael.
And the entirety of INXS: just a great solid band. Excellent musicians. Now that I’m “older & wiser” can honestly say: I think they were better than U2.
I agree seen both bands inxs 1991 and 93 ,and u2 92 and 93 ,u2 were a bigger act but there stageshow was overwhelming, wether on the other hand inxs were just a live band on stage and they were better.
as a great u2 fan let me say inxs imo equally as great but different style. sort of got tired of bono being so full of himself.
Totally better
Inxs sound is timeless, michael was the last rockstar
One of the greatest frontmen and a tight band.Fabulous 🤘🏻
Brilliant, this must be one of their most iconic numbers! back in 1991 INXS were absolutely on top of their game... and of course with Michael H one of rock's very best frontmen..
the man can't be replaced!!!
Michael Hutchence was So Beautiful💛 Wish He was still With Us!.. miss Him💗

The echoes of a life
The fragments and the accidents
Separated by incidents
Listen to by the walls
We share the same spaces
Repeated in the corridors
Performing the same movements

Building to building

We pass each other

One of my favorite tracks. Better than most of today’s pop if not all of it.
I truly thank God for showing me INXS. I’m only a youngling but literally can’t imagine not having these masterpieces of records to listen to. Just unbelievable music and no one will ever surpass this. Can’t express enough the feeling I get listening to INXS it’s just unworldly. Wish you were here Michael ;(
Im nearly 16, and this is my favourite song of all time. Im also 90% sure it was the first song i ever heard
@ Joseph
I feel the same way and can't explain it in total. I'm a senior who has just discovered them in depth. Truly a great band. Love their musical catalog 70s through 90s.
Honestly my favourite inxs song
Always loved these guys. Unfortunately my gf (now wife) and I didn't have a dime in our pockets to buy concert tickets very often. But over the years since we've seen them all. From punk bands to Springsteen and these guys are right up there for a concert for the ages.
Best frontman ever
Yes indeed 💙

Storey bro!!!
Great inxs
Dafuq dude?
This is one of the most magical songs ever written.
Storey to storey, building to building, street to street, we pass each other on the stairs! ✌️😎👍
That hair! That voice!!! Such a rare beautiful talent!! Such an amazing band
Back when we all knew the songs and band members’ names. Lol 😂 I thank God for being part of generation x where I’ve enjoyed great bands, songs, and movies.
Magnifique chanson d'INXS et la voix de Michael !!! 🌞🌞🌞🌠
VIVA INXS!
Would be the biggest band on earth today.......thanks for all
One of the great frontmen of music. Had it all. The looks, style, voice, drink and drug habit! Legend.

"How you doin out there"
Befriending the masses i love it
There's all kinds of music, and there's INXS
Know this song by heart. Phenomenal!
God bless.
Beautiful!
Wasn’t he also sick during this concert?
