Love, love Omega. I love the 150+ year history, but even more, I love you can actually walk into an AD and there are watches to buy. Not empty cases and waiting lists…….
I went on a Rolex waiting list two years ago. I gave up on waiting, and now I kind of resent them. Like you, I also bought a Tissot (SeaStar automatic) - which I love - and a Davosa Ternos ceramic (also very nice), but I still longed for a ‘worked my arse off for 35 years’ watch. I’ve decided that watch will be the Seamaster Diver 300M in either black and yellow gold or black and white (can’t decide) - with the rubber strap. Have already bought an Uncle bracelet for it. I’m so glad I’m over my Rolex dream.
Some brands make their products harder to obtain just to hold on to that "high end" status and it appears Rolex is doing that same game. Glad to see companies like Omega standing on it's quality and merits not marketing tricks. Great video and keep'm going.
be that as it may, they need to step in and mandate how their AD's allocate watches. They don't care what I say or anyone else though and they're selling every watch they produce. But their "retail pricing" is laughable. What's the point of it. Why even have a dealer network. Auction every watch to the highest bidder. The arrogance for me is that they pretend they are a traditional manufacturer but their go to market strategy is broken. They shouldn't pretend like they have dealers.
Their resale values are extortion. I don’t think it’s at the fault of the AD and sort of understand the need for an interview to join their waiting list. The AD would be writing you a blank queue as well as handing over the watch at retail, you walk out the shop and double your money on the used market. It’s a know fact organised crime we’re using Rolex to wash their cash and come out with a profit. So who is to blame, us for buying one n the used market for silly money because of need or Rolex for limiting supplies to keep them in demand.
I think Omega and some other top tier companies are geniuses because they offer a watch that not only rivals the quality of Rolex but they create absolutely beautiful works of art. Not to mention the miraculous engines that power their watches. They’ve identified a market price point that has been somewhat ignored and appears to be growing. I’m of the group that doesn’t look at watch collecting as an investment. First of all I’m not rich so I concentrate on what value the watch gives to me. BTW Omega and Tudor are among my very favorites with Rolex running a distant 10th.
My husband and I love watching your videos together (both audio and watch). We love your honesty and humor. So thank you for that, and we hope there are many more videos to come!
I can't afford either. My wife bought me a seiko skx 013 when we started dating as a Valentine's Day present. I wear it whenever we go on vacations or I'm travelling without her. They cost like a thousand bucks now so I'm going to call it a massive win.
The bezel is designed to accommodate fingertips under pressure, where you press down to increase grip and the fingers sit in the smooth scallops. Not super practical, but it works for timing pasta.
Agree 100%. In regards about being pissed off by Rolex, you should see what is going on here in Tokyo. Boutique staff standing like some sort of guards behind a rope, and no one is allowed to enter the boutiques without appointment. I repeat: You can`t enter the shop to look around, the entrance is blocked. And this, inside a mall!!! Not even a private building. I have never ever seen anything like that in my whole life, and I even wonder if it is legal.
Great review of the Omega Seamaster. I have always considered Omega the best watch for the money. Most people can save up and afford one and they have been around for over 150 years.
I share your sentiment @ 13:40min mark. So much so two weeks ago I sold my Rolex Explorer 2 and bought a Seamaster 300m and a rad mountain bike. Rolex lost me and would rather spend my hard earned dollars elsewhere.
You hit the nail on the head when you said Rolex are “arrogant” I’ve always thought that and to hear it out loud makes me smile and at least pleased that I’m not the only one thinking in that way.
I purchase my Omega Seamaster last year and I’m with you. Loved, loved and loved. I hear you talking about the rubber strap, I did order a Titanium band I noticed how much enhanced my watch looks. You should look into you may like it. Good job on your videos I really enjoy your videos.
Just subscribed - great content. I only have two watches and love them both - the 3861 Hesalite Speedmaster Moonwatch and the diver 300 Seamaster white dial on the rubber strap - pretty much has me covered… for now
I got the same watch, but with the white dial, yesterday. I went in to my AD planning to get the black dial like yours. I tried on both black dial and white dial both on rubber. To me the white dial was more legible and the dial color just popped so I walked out with it.
Love my 2014, 300m Ceramic with the blue gloss dial. It's a better fit for smaller wrists. The bracelet is wonderful feeling but no micro adjust. Omega makes a good timepiece. Good luck with yours.
I have this as my grail watch. I have about 12 homage Submariner pieces which means all I really want is the sub. Exactly to your point though, I was faced with having to buy used to get one. Out of my 112 watch collection, it's a rough guess to say 40% of those are bought as used on eBay or Chrono24. I am not opposed to buying used, but at this price point, I do want new. I want the scratches to be my stories and not something I look at and think it's all that was available. I love this watch, it wears amazing. That strap is the best in my entire collection. I still would take a new sub over this watch if I could make that swap. I don't regret getting this one even though it meant I would not get the Sub in the next 10 years. I actually like the Aqua Terra and some Breitling Avenger options next vs saving for a Sub. Your statement about wanting one, saving for it and then not being able to obtain one was spot on for me personally. I don't want to reward that business practice.
I’m one hundred percent with your last paragraph. And for the other negative commenter I only have four AliExpress Pagani homages - they are a lot of fun when I’m out using my hands and grafting. I don’t have to worry too much about damage on those.
its not pretend if you cant get one and you have to make a 15 minute video about how it makes you angry and trying to convince yourself an omega is making you happy
@@fuaris492it's technically not rare. 1.2m watches are made every year. Compared to breitling 150k a year. But because more than 1.2m people want a rolex at any point it becomes "rare" to get one.
This black seamaster is STUNNING, way better looking than the Submariner. Beats it any day. I have the black SMPC no waves dial, and the white dial 300m. Such a joy to wear them. Got them both preowned, 35% less than retail price, im a happy man
Sold my sub years ago and never looked back. I’m about to buy my grail, Marine Master 300…once people see Rolex for what they are, you discover watches and brands that are better…the planet ocean is my fav…good video….
I did have the planet ocean sold it.u are right beautiful but case thickness too big now the 300 it’s something different u don’t see in lots of watchs simple and classic design and it has history …. A classic simple design never goes away just not too much not too less just perfect
Hi, I want to ask you something. .. Can a Omega Seamaster swim in aswimming pool camicals/gloor light water and then go swimming into sea water. can this cause the anti-reflective layer to become dull. Or not or nothing happens. help help help. Wat do you think
Thanks for the awesome channel. I own an Omega 300M Quartz (Reference 2541.80.00), the original Bond Seamaster. Yes, it is quartz, but it also has so many benefits. Apart from its cinematography significance, at 41mm is slightly smaller than current mechanical Seamasters, mulch lighter and cheap as chips to maintain. It is more than keeping its value, yet still somewhat affordable to purchase on the used market. It is gorgeous and, hands down, is the watch that gets the most compliments from my non-nerdy coworkers. It looks as good as the day it was purchased in 1999 and has killed any wish for expensive mechanical watches for me. I think the exorbitant maintenance costs alone play a part in why there are so many Omegas on the used market. Rolex owners are most probably not concerned by maintenance costs, yet for the average person wanting to buy a nice watch and keep it long-term, the cost of maintaining all these fancy in-house movements with silicone this-and-that could kill the joy of owning such a nice watch in the first place.
What an interesting video. I posted something similar yesterday as I also bought the same Omega. Also tired of the crap around Rolex. It’s an unlimited production watch which is made to look scarce 😂 btw - I really recommend the rubber strap on the deployment clasp. Perfect fit.
I purchased an omega sea master. Only dislike was the bracelet. I hardly take it off and it’s coming up on 22years old. I have the black dial as well sometimes I wish I got the blue.
I have the same Seamaster black wave dial. The bracelet is ok I kinda like it but it’s a bit heavy. I don’t really like rubber straps, they’re just not comfortable for me. Do you think this would look nice on a canvas or leather strap? I just ordered a few canvas straps, one of which is black with black buckle… should get here next week
Congratulations on your new channel!! I was an early subscriber. The Tudor black bay pro looks amazing… as does the Black Bay Bronze with blue. Hope to jump on the zoom soon! Take care!
A Nato strap would look really nice.. plus if a link fails it’ll stay on your wrist. I lost a rather coveted Citizen offshore once. A probe we were raising hit my watch, broke the bracelet, and it is now off the coast of Nicaragua in 1000 ft of water. :(
I have both- SMP Polar and Submariner Date. I bought Submariner before the SMP. I hear you on the displeasure on Rolex's business model, but you can't blame them. 6-7 years ago, every Rolex was available or least within a 1-2 month wait. You could "request" any model you wanted and the AD would order one. But I blame the "resellers" that pretty much killed the watch game. Just like any other high demand product, there will be those that will buy out stock and resell at a profit. Omega still has the same problem but on a lower scale. I've been to AD's where the Polar SMP was not in stock and wait time would be dependent on Omega's output. I've been to Omega boutiques where a basic Aqua Terra 41 would need to be special ordered. Tudor has the supply/demand problem but only on certain models. But I'm glad the SMP worked out for you.
Love that watch you got, it is beautiful…I may have to follow suite and put some $$$ to the side for that one…Thanks for you hard work making your awesome CWM and CAM videos…Stay Blessed my Friend….
I just bought a Seamaster White dial and am looking forward to receiving it. The Seamaster Chronometer Blue dial from '06 will likely find another home. I do own an '98 Moon watch and that has sentimental value. BTW, I love my Phoibos Leviathan that I bought last month thanks to your review. Have a great holiday!
I first bought the current Rolex Submariner last year. A few months later I bought the Omega Seamaster 300m with white dial and bracelet. Since then I almost don't wear my Rolex at all. If you own both watches, put them side by side and compare them....then you immediately notice that the Omega is significantly higher quality and more elaborately finished. The Subariner looks super boring and simple in direct comparison. You get the impression that the 300m was significantly more expensive than the Submariner, although it was significantly cheaper than the Rolex. That's when it became clear to me what kind of brainwashing is taking place in terms of Rolex hype. Everyone wants a Rolex, although Omega makes the higher quality & better watch here. Not only technically, but also from the processing and the materials used. And the best thing is: I can go to an Omega boutique at any time, get a super nice, friendly and warm welcome and can buy any watch immediately without waiting. And if a variant is not available, it will be ordered. And in a week at the latest, I have my desired watch, without being humiliated like at Rolex, having to kiss the salesman's xxx to maybe get my overpriced boring Rolex in X years. When I realized that, I only bought my watches from Omega (now 3 pieces) and would never go to an arrogant Rolex AD again.
If you buy the watch with the bracelet, you save money from buying the bracelet separately. I think it retails for over $1000. People gripe about the bracelet, but you will appreciate it more with some time. I personally like the bracelet, it's very unique. The end links and each individual link are made from 9 individual pieces of SS.
Fully agree. I got my black smp on rubber and ended up paying like $600 for a used bracelet. Learned my lesson. Ended up falling in love with the bracelet and it was nice to have along with the oem rubber.
I never did hear the price for the watch. From what I can tell from a little research, it's $5,000 +. Is that the approximate price for that Omega watch?
I spent two years hunting for a Rolex Datejust for my daughters college graduation gift. I finally was able to pick one up. While in Japan I found a Seamaster Pro for my sons high school graduation gift.
I am a watch fanatic and I noticed your nice watches on your Cheap Audio Man channel and I was thinking about writing you and giving you the idea to start a watch channel, but there you go, you already have it, congrats!
I bought the Aqua Terra and found it top heavy, clasp had no on the fly adjustment Tfit and lume was subpar. The Rolex submariner Starbucks I picked up from AD hits all the bells and whistles
I bought this exact SMP 300 (black dial black rubber strap) brand new about 2 months ago. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! Like you, it was a total bonus getting it on the rubber strap because not only was it cheaper than the bracelet one, but I personally think it looks much better too! The next watch I’m considering is the Breitling Avenger 43 with the blue dial. I’ll probably get that one on the bracelet since my SMP is on the rubber strap. Any chance you can do a review of that one? 😊
I am between Tag Heuer gmr pepsi and this Omega. Omega black black is looking great and very light , also very comfortable on my wrist. Perfect fit and wieght. I think inam closer to Omega but love how look Tag heuer gmt pepsi
Great looking watch in black with the Omega rubber strap/buckle. The bracelet in metal is horrendous. In black and rubber strap, this watch is not overly flashy at all and is a very sporty, yet refined/elegant looking sports watch. Nice combination of all.
I agree with what you said about Rolex. I am 71yo and want to buy a Rolex Submariner. I was a SCUBA instructor for many years, so a Submariner is the Rolex for me. I want a keepsake to pass down to my son-in-law when I am gone, but with the unwritten sales antics of Rolex, in hand with the grey market I will be long gone before getting a call from the Rolex AD. I refuse to pay the inflated price to a flipper for a Rolex, or be extorted by a Rolex AD. I am buying an Omega.
I sold mine. Here are my cons. 1.Double AR Coating. I hate it with a passion. That thin layer of reflection smudge drives me nuts. 2. The helium escape valve is ugly on bracelet but works on rubber strap. Weird 3. The bezel turn action is choppy. I prefer 120 click over what feels like 60click. Those were the reasons I sold mine.
Bought my LAST Rolex back in the late 90’s. Own a vintage Seamaster Deville 18c gold, Seamaster 300, older Speedmaster, and an older AquaTerra. Omega rules…Rolex sucks!! And that’s just the way it is.
Recently went in to my local AD to look at the black one but came out with the green. It’s so much better in the flesh - much darker subtle green than the marketing photos, almost black in some light. Looks the business!
Rolex needs to rein in their ADs ... they're a big part of the problem. Happy to see the prices crashing to earth, and the flippers getting killed as every day they hang on and refuse to sell at a loss, they end up looking at a bigger loss the next day. Warms my heart, it really does. I suspect that if you're on a waiting list, the flippers on the list ahead of you are going to start dropping out as the profit motive vanishes.
agreed completely, the state of Rolex is absolutely ridiculous. I still love the look of the submariner but I'd much rather buy anything else than to support a company that's this pretentious
Congratulations!! Totally with you in regards to your comments about Rolex! I love my SMP300 as well. Also black dial. What a beautifully engineered watch!
Me too, I hate the bracelet of that because it doesn’t taper. There are a lot of aftermarket steel bracelet for that. That seamaster is very beautiful!
I just found your channel and I love it. It reminds me of the way I feel about watches. Looking at you getting your aspirational watch was great. Mine, by the way, is on order. Not an Omega because I'm not at that level just yet, but a Tag Heuer Aquaracer.
You are absolutely correct about pictures and videos not allowing you to see the true beauty you get with viewing it in person. they are so beautiful in person. I have the grey dial with blue accents, and you should see it in the sunlight.... WOW! I found the Omega SMP and AT as the perfect everyday watches. when you look at all that is in the Omega manufacture process and the tolerances of the finished product. they are underrated.
Great review, thank you 🙂👍. In depth like showing the bezel quality. I keep thinking I'm going to sell my DJ36 to get one, but never seem to. Bought it from a mom and pop store that was a Rolex AD for FIFTY years before Rolex dropped them. Like they don't know how to serve Rolex customers, right? Instead, they keep some ADs that.. Sorry, going down a dark road. Anyway, nice watch, congrats, may be joining you soon- black dial bracelet👍
Great video Randy. Congratulations on hitting 100,000 subscribers and buying this fantastic watch. The Co-Axial movement is an engineering marvel, and taken for granted by many. It was developed by the watchmaking genius George Daniels. This movement is more accurate, robust, and lasts longer than a typical lever escapement.Swatch purchased it and put it in many of its Omega watches. if Rolex or other high-end brands would have purchased the rights to this movement, they would’ve charged much more than Omega did. The only reason it goes unsung is because that many watch buyers eyes would glaze over if they got an explanation of its qualities. It’s a game changing piece of watch making technology in an “affordable” watch. Keep up the great work!
@@cheapwatchman_officialI can’t believe it’s been a year since I posted my comment. Still think your coverage of every speck of the Seamaster is one of the best I’ve seen (much like your Summer blue video too).
My Seamaster is 30 years old , still works like a charm. I had a Sub, I sold it, not my kind of watch. My favorite watch is the Explorer II but getting one is a nightmare so I gave up.
I prefer the dial details of the Seamaster to the Submariner. The sub is a bit boring to me. Also the six o’clock date position is my favorite. It’s the most balanced place for a date..
Check out the Urban Gentry & Just One More Watch & if you really want to learn about Horology check out Bill Sanders channel . Good luck with the journey it's fascinating & addicting . I have no idea of how many watches i have 😳
Randy......next life event.....go get yourself a Grand Seiko with a spring drive, you have the option of dress watch, dive watch, GMT....you won't be sorry. That said, Omega IS a fine timepiece and the co-axial escapement is a modern wonder, keeps great time and they say extends between service times.
I can so relate to everything in this video. Now my white dial smp 300 is basically the go to over my Rolex datejust, speed master dark side off the moon, and prx 80. It just wears so well and has a great presence on the wrist while not over bearing at all
I owned a seamaster. I think it was a 2011. Mine was the 38 mm case size in the blue color with stainless steel bracelet. It was an excellent watch. It kept very accurate time. I timed it often and it would only gain About 2 seconds a day. After two years, I Isold it in order to purchase their larger case size Seamaster but didn’t get around to it and ended up with a tag aquaracer. I’m hoping to get another sea master in the future I really love that design. And like you, I am very turned off with Rolex. In the early days, Rolex watches we’re not that expensive.. They were never cheap, but an average guy could easily save up the money to buy one. Over the past 10 to 20 years, their prices have soared so high they make no sense. If anything, they should be a few hundred dollars more than the Tudors.
Have the same watch from a Sub. I am glad I switched. Here is the tip… spend the $199 and get the Zealande rubber strap from the Omega Seamaster. Softer and feels luxurious compared to OEM. Made it my daily driver.
Been watching your audio channel for years, so it took me a second to realize this was different. Love the video and sentiments. Happy for you that you got your watch - Im saving for a speedy pro. #someday
Congrats on your Omega - own one myself and I too am fed up with the Rolex holdout. I want a GMT & it all looks like it’s going to be another Omega!! Cheers!!
Great video, Randy. Love that watch. You're doing a great job with this channel. Really enjoying your videos. Would like to have seen that Omega on the wrist. Keep up the good work.

My electric blue dial is the go to quartz in my collection, a beauty that still takes a beating
The blue was my first fancy watch until it was stolen during a move 😢
Cool guy and funny clips. He always says what I think too. Greetings from Germany 🎉
Take care!
Would be nice to have one in a smaller size. 50mm lug to lug is just way too large for my wrist.
Yep, the Omega divers are nice. I’ve had mine 20 years and still looks and works great. But those Longines dive watches are pretty nice too.
Omg a channel called cheap watch man. That’s all me! 800-1000 is my ultimate max. Subbed automatically 🎉
Really higher quality??? Are you having a stroke
I should have bought one back in the early 2000's, now looking again. Keep comkng back to a Seamaster. Thanks for the vid.
I bought a blue smp 300 this year , kinda wish I bought the white dial .
I had this exact watch in 2019 but sold it 3 yrs later when I bought a house. I miss it from time to time 😥
I bought the Aqua Terra and found it top heavy, clasp had no on the fly adjustment Tfit and lume was subpar.
The omega staff seem very friendly as well.
Great looking watch in black with the Omega rubber strap/buckle. The bracelet in metal is horrendous. In black and rubber strap, this watch is not overly flashy at all and is a very sporty, yet refined/elegant looking sports watch. Nice combination of all.
love omega, speedmaster is what im saving up for
Love this watch
Weird
Yeesh. And here I am waiting to get another Invicta Signature Series Pro Diver (currently have a 7045, which I find quite favorable)…
I have another one on the way too
Recently went in to my local AD to look at the black one but came out with the green. It’s so much better in the flesh - much darker subtle green than the marketing photos, almost black in some light. Looks the business!
Love the watch! I agree on why you need to games with the ADs just to buy a watch.
I love my SMP, I got it in blue on the bracelet and it lives on my wrist, the only time I take it off is to sleep or shower.
Love it, hopefully I can get one in the future. When food becomes cheaper than the watch.
So true!
Rolex needs to rein in their ADs ... they're a big part of the problem. Happy to see the prices crashing to earth, and the flippers getting killed as every day they hang on and refuse to sell at a loss, they end up looking at a bigger loss the next day. Warms my heart, it really does. I suspect that if you're on a waiting list, the flippers on the list ahead of you are going to start dropping out as the profit motive vanishes.
beautiful seamaster i am still not sure which is my fave color in it
Could you please review the Cigadesign skeleton watch.. It's automatic and at only $150.. it's designed to look really cool.
just did a review a few says ago th-cam.com/video/eAUMujv0vwM/w-d-xo.html
Omega and Grand Seiko all the way for me. Nothing against Rolex but their aesthetic just doesn’t appeal to me. Great video!
thanks!
agreed completely, the state of Rolex is absolutely ridiculous.
WOW! I found the Omega SMP and AT as the perfect everyday watches. when you look at all that is in the Omega manufacture process and the tolerances of the finished product. they are underrated.
i have the same with sedna gold and yea rolex is just a status symbol, with OMEGA you get more for your money.
After 5 years of thinking witch watch to choose. Omega or Rolex I choose Davosa Ternos Professional GMT
Thanks for another great video. And I 100% agree. Rolex is being unfair. My dream watch would be a Navitimer.
I most definitely agree as that is exactly the way I feel even though I've owned many Rolex watches over the years.
Totally Agree!!!!
Wow. This is the best video I have ever seen of the Seamaster. Thank you very much!
Matt, I find that a bit hard to believe, but I'll take the compliment
@@cheapwatchman_officialI can’t believe it’s been a year since I posted my comment. Still think your coverage of every speck of the Seamaster is one of the best I’ve seen (much like your Summer blue video too).
Conflicted on the Seamaster. Guess I need to get up close & personal. A lot of people do love ’em! Good video!
Love these videos! I'm considering getting into watches and this is the perfect place to learn about them.
Check out the Urban Gentry & Just One More Watch & if you really want to learn about Horology check out Bill Sanders channel . Good luck with the journey it's fascinating & addicting .
I have no idea of how many watches i have 😳
Congrats on getting the watch you really wanted. Black on black on black suits you!
I think that is a strategy.. which will fire backwards at Rolex.
I can so relate to everything in this video. Now my white dial smp 300 is basically the go to over my Rolex datejust, speed master dark side off the moon, and prx 80. It just wears so well and has a great presence on the wrist while not over bearing at all
I want one of those speed masters. The DSOTM is so incredible looking
I'm with you Randy. I have the exact same watch and it is a great daily wear. Omega makes great watches. I'd love to get a Speedy '57 as my next one.
I have the blue one also don't love the original bracelet and put it on a mesh bracelet - wow it looks amazing on that.
you should put it on a red strap today
Been watching your audio channel for years, so it took me a second to realize this was different. Love the video and sentiments. Happy for you that you got your watch - Im saving for a speedy pro. #someday
Awesome! I need to try one on and see how looks.
I should have included some more shots. Still working out the style on this channel
Yes love my Seamaster 300 chronograph 44 mm and good taste in music, my friend
Try the deployent rubber strap - its perfect
It is an awesome watch. I got this one and the chrono one and love them both. Got the steel bracelets.
Love your reviews, thank you. That is definitely an aspirational watch for me, love the black dial, black bezel, black strap look.
great, watch Joel. they are also available use at "below" retail pricing. Crazy concept.
Right now I have a Alpina Seastrong 300 Automatic. My first auto and it's awesome. But my grail watch is the Omega Seamaster.
Congratulations on the purchase of that Gorgeous watch. Loving this new watch channel.
Thanks for watching
That is a seriously sexy watch.. That face and bezel is the jam wih that band.
