I just walked into a coffee shop and complimented their sound system that filled the room with a huge, warm and crisp sound. Come to find out it was coming from this little thing. Instantly sold.
Same! Center Street Coffee on Folly Beach, SC. I was surprised to find that all that bass and crisp sound was coming from one speaker. I plan to get one now.
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning th-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
That answered my questions. What a shame I won't be buying Sonos because everything is android at my place and I was going to initially buy x2 for my bedroom. The search continues.
The part where he says she sonos system doesn't automatically move to the next track is not true at all. I've had my sonos system for 7 years and it plays the next track automatically.
It has been a bloody nightmare getting my Sonos speakers around the house to sync, when they work they sound great but then they randomly disconnect. Annoying.
I had this issue and I narrowed it down to wi-fi interference. I added a wired connection to my Arc in the center of the house and moved my Gen 3 Sub away for the router and no more disconnect issues.
I had the Sonos one till I traded it in for Echo studio. Reason I did that, sonos would take over things like playing songs when it wasn’t even listening or even played music on recently. There are some short comings due to it being a third party device, doesn’t act like the other echos do perfectly. I think it’s great if you don’t have other echos around or maybe want to go all Sonos. I do like my echo studio, changing fixed all the issues. It was hard to sell the Sonos, it sounded good and looked really good.
Can you expand on your point about it taking over things? Can’t quite make sense of what you’re saying. And how is the sound quality on the echo studio compared to the S1?
Can you expand on your point about it taking over things? Can’t quite make sense of what you’re saying. And how is the sound quality on the echo studio compared to the S1?
Just ordered a pair of the black ones. I have had a pair of Google Nest speakers and they always unpair and won't do voice calls. Looking forward to the upgrade. Great review!!
Would you please tell us what is used to initial setup - Bluetooth or WiFi? I wonder, because this model has no Bluetooth at all in specification. And also a new speaker has no password to our home WiFi, so how the app find the speaker? Can you check it switching a single medium at time on phone (BT | WiFi)?
As a lot of other people are saying, this was a very thoughtful and complete review. Thank you. It answered lots of my questions. Will I be able to group two Roams with two Ones? I'm hoping to move the room with me to another room, and outside, continuing the music. Do I have that right? Last question: If I get a Sonos Sub Mini at some point, would it pair with the two Ones? (I already know that a Roam will not work with the subs.) thanks
Sonos can be added together or play separate audio depending what you need. I can add my Roam at anytime to my Arc system in main TV room or Beam system in my office with a touch of a button on the smartphone app. Works the same for music to include the Arc and/or Beam systems or just use the Roam alone around the house.
Great review 👏 I wanted to buy a pair of Ones as a sound upgrade to my current pair of Nest Audio speakers but your comments about not being able to cast from Android convinced me to wait for better Google speakers. We use Pixel 6 Pro phones and Chromebooks and a Samsung S7 tablet and cast everyday.
Glad I could save you the headache! It’s such a shame to because they sound much better than the Nest Audios, it’s not even close. I hope Sonos adds Cast support one day. I’m not sure if Google will release better speakers since they killed the Home Max and haven’t done anything in that space since. - Josh
@@6MonthsLater - agreed. I had a Home Max and it was fantastic but I wanted 2 smaller stereo speakers instead. Apparently Google is introducing new better speakers in 2023.

Hi, I really like the review. Is that an ethernet connection I thought I saw when you did the unpack? (at 3:16). If not can anyone please tell me if there is a smart speaker with ethernet as well as WiFi. Thanks.
Is there a way to connect different smart speakers of different brands and play on a single song? Is there a way to also connect exceptionally premium speakers like Devialet phantom and some pocket Bluetooth speakers to connect with these smart speakers and control them with voice or phone?
You can with Spotify. They let you play on everywhere group for Alexa assistant. I actually had the Sonos one, I love it but it doesn’t play along with other echos well. If I was on another echo asking it to play a song, it would automatically play on the Sonos for no reason. I would suggest going all echos imo. Right now I have two 4th gen echo and echo studio. It works excellent.
There’s no line in, so you’d have to rely on something like AirPlay on a Mac to make that work. It can be done, but I’d personally prefer speakers with a wired input - Josh

You should be able to hit the plus button in the home app to add it, or it might just show up automatically. I see my Sonos one in the home app already and I can’t remember if I even needed to add it or because it’s AirPlay 2 compatible it automatically showed up. - Josh

You can't use it to control smart home devices if you don't use the Amazon or Google Assistant on it. Sonos Voice Control is only for music and speaker control.
@@6MonthsLater I decided to go with Echo Studio, for the Spatial sound and for the ability to connect to fire tv. Better integration. The sound isn’t too bad but it’s not as detailed as Sonos. It needs a bit of an EQ.
There is one thing you overlooked…After 6 months the sound should be the same if you hardly ply it, but then again even better if you have bled the speaker by using it almost daily. I think the Denon Heos/Home line is a worthy competitor for Sonos. Some feel they sound better, depending on the models you’re comparing. They also have additional options like, Hi Res Audio, Bluetooth, Line In, USB. I recently purchased the Denon Home 150 and the Sonos One (Gen 2). I compared them side by side for several days and had a difficult time finding a winner. I eventually went with the One. It sounded a little clearer/cleaner to me. I read a number of reviews that feel the Home 150 is better sounding. The One was also a bit cheaper. Excellent condition from eBay for $110 +tax. I got 2 of them to pair up in stereo.
Creator, you missed pretty bad on this. You went so indepth on the software of the device and NOT EVEN A LITTLE, did you get into the hardware. The amps power, drivers, RMS/MAX. Nothing. You can do better than this. I just heard great detail of the rest. Please and thank you
6 months later and I still cannot get this dumb speaker to work. the review is misleading the speaker is too complicated. it probably does sound good, when you can actually get the thing working
the unit sounds like a 10 dollar speaker, the app is shit CONSTANT glicthes and the voice control hardly ever works. There is no way you can't buy better sounding, better functioning and lets not forget better looking gear for the same money, Sonos have gone from cool functions to be about as bad as it can be on most parameters for a 2023, system.
One would need a full paper to describe the crap that SONOS does. Wanna listen to music? Good luck! You will spend hours upon hours trying to setup the software which is an almost impossible task. When you reset the whole thing to give it another go, then you get confronted with a major bug built into the system. If you ever change the email you provide SONOS to make the speaker work, you will be left with an inoperable system. You will spend hours trying to reset your password. Every time they will tell you it has been done but it wil not. And if you ever dare to request assistance from SONOS be ready to be insulted by the staff. They please themselves to tell you where you messed up but give you no answers to solve the problems. This of course, you can verify by yourself by reading a few SONOS support threads. I really wonder how in the hell this company exists? And why would anyone be giving great reviews about it.

Most companies want you to use their app. To say the app is sub par is extreme
It is though. He’s not wrong
I use Alexa on my Beam gen 2 and when I ask for a song it plays it then carries on playing similar styled music until I stop it.

Seems like you can from the bundle Sonos is selling: www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/surround-set-beam-one-sl-pair
They can be paired as rear surrounds with any Sonos soundbar (Ray, Beam, Arc) or just as all full audio speakers in a group.
So does it work without Wi-Fi or network connectivity?
No, only with internet.
The Roam and Move uses bluetooth. You need home wi-fi for the soundbar, sub, surround speakers for the Atmos and 5.1 quality sound.
