    Great review as always, definitely like how you understand what the everyday consumer would want to know and interactive to know the questions we want answering. Looking forward to the video for different Sonos options with a sound bar as that is what I am currently looking at doing. Glad to see Sonos have listened to feedback and managed to improve on an already great product in the Sonos One.

      from my experience listening to the demo 100 & owning a move. i would say they sound very similar & the 100 may have slightly better highs due to the 2nd tweeter which i would assume also give better stereo separation. however, the move is worth every damn penny. I have every sonos s2 speaker & the move is my favorite.

    Top system. I have the Beam 2 and two era 100 background speakers. Perfect, no sub needed!

      I started with a Beam and Symfonisk rears in an office on LG OLED 55C1. Sounded excellent to me. I added a Gen 3 sub a year later and I was amazed on how much the sound improved. The added sub took away the lower frequencies and majority of the bass duties from the Beam and rear surrounds. The Beam/rears could concentrate on dialogue for TV, center channel, and highs/mid-range for improved clarity.

    For anyone interested here are my first impressions using a pair of Era300’s and Era100’s…
    The Era300’s are an easy sell for me if you are going to use them in a Sonos Home Theatre configuration. My immediate reaction to replacing Play5 rear speakers with Era300’s was how much better integrated they sound with the ARC sound bar. I come from a high end HiFi and cinema background but love Sonos for their fun club like room solutions and convenience around the home without speaker wires.
    Sound bars always sound like the sound is coming at me horizontally. Due to their design and often low down placement they never sound great to me for music. However with the Era300’s as rears it feels like the Sonos cinema sound stage is more cohesive front to back of the room. In this scenario the more horizontal 3D soundstage doesn’t bother me as it’s more like a well integrated 360 experience. Play Ed Sheeran’s ATMOS recordings and the sound stage is far better integrated than using Play5’s in a cinema configuration. It makes me feel like the Era300’s are what was missing from the Sonos home cinema package since the ARC was first released. Era300’s just compliment the ARC so much better than the Play5’s. To my ears they are the first truly well integrated rear speakers for Sonos home theatre.
    If I listen to the Era300’s as a stereo pair by themselves, then I am again hearing a more horizontal 3D sound stage a bit like turning the Play5’s horizontally instead of a more HiFi like soundstage when you listen to the Play5’s positioned vertically. So this is why some people may not like listening to Era300’s for music only. It’s not stereo HiFi, it’s just different. You’ll either like to get used to it or you won’t. Personally I am not a fan of the Era300’s in a stereo pair. I (currently at least) prefer a traditional stereo soundstage from a quality HiFi setup. But I think they are very good paired with the ARC in cinema configuration.
    IMO the Era100’s are NOT an upgrade from the One speaker. They are just different and depending on the environment you place them in, your preference to listen to Era100’s or One’s may differ. I had no wow factor comparing a stereo pair of Era100’s with a pair of One’s. It’s not like the sound stage was considerably deeper or more natural, which I was disappointed with for a slightly larger speaker/driver design. I expect a pair of “Move” speakers in stereo mode, will blow the Era100’s away. I can hear the Era100’s are a little richer than One’s because their sound profile is not as scooped. There is a richer midrange, but that may or may not be preferred by you, because the soundstage can be thicker to it’s detriment. For example when I tested in an open plan kitchen/diner, I thought ok I hear a difference but it’s not “better” as such, it’s just slightly different and not worth replacing One’s for in my opinion. Then I compared the Era100’s and One’s in my bedroom where the Era100’s thicker midrange was not as relaxing to listen to in that smaller space, despite my bedroom still being a decent size. It’s not a box room by any means. I used Advanced TruePlay during these listening tests and tried adjusting EQ, but I still preferred the sound signature of the One’s in my bedroom. So I think the more scooped sound profile in the One’s works better in smaller spaces where you want to reduce any bloated/flubby bass. The Era100’s are arguably preferable in a larger space due to the richer midrange. It’s not really HiFi rich to me, which means it can thicken in a marginal muddy manner. At no point did I feel a wow factor like I did swapping out Play5’s for Era300’s in a cinema configuration. I suspect in time there will be a group of customers who prefer the traditional One’s to the new Era100’s and there will remain a good market for the One’s because their sound profile turns out to be more desirable to some people in smaller environment use cases. Have fun testing for yourselves and finding your own preferences within your own homes. Cheers everyone.

      I think you would need to add the beam to connect to PC with HDMI to Optical with Dolby Digital Dac like sound blaster for 5.1 or Beam with Fury Arcana over HDMI for Atmos quality and use the ones/100s as rears to remove the delay.

    Sonos one gen 2 is heavily discounted due to the release of the Era 100 and Era 300 down to £150/£160. At this price are the Era 100 £90-£100 better than a Sonos One SL/Gen 2? I've just purchased a pair of One's for surround and better music for my Playbase and don't think I regret the decision given the price difference.

    Thanks for the video guys! You're still my most trusted Sonos review channel !
    I have a weird question, when you get a dongle, can you test the line in latency?
    I want to be able to use this as a bedroom/PC Sonos (Currently using a Roam), but i would love to plug in my guitar in as a little practice amp.
    i have a Fender Mustang Micro plug in amp, which handles the connection out of the guitar, and applies effects etc. It also has a USB C output, but as you said it needs to be the specific Sonos, dongle, i can still use a 3.5mm jack, as that is also supported by the Mustang Micro.
    Bit weird, but i have reasons for my madness!
    If there's any way you can test this when you do the video, that would be great (or send me one and i'll test it for you😉🤣)
    Thanks guys!

    Sonos 7.1. A really good configuration for music,
    Beam a sub mini and 2 Ikea picture frames as surrounds, or Era 100
    Then an additional 2 Ikea or Era 100 in stereo pair, as support for front channels. Less volume on these.
    Run both systems at the same time. Easy to do in the app.
    Position a lot of volume on the surrounds, to get a very spacy sound in the room.

    The Sonos One was completely bass heavy ... dunno why you wanted much more bass from it - if you have no treble you have no clarity - that's why people appreciate a flat EQ response. I sold my One, but I will buy an Era 100 just to see what it's like. I bought and returned the 'Sonos Roam' - boy that was a terrible speaker.

    I upgraded my Symfonisk bookshelf rear surrounds for my Beam+Gen 3 Sub a few years ago. Recently upgraded them to One SLs after X-mas. I really didn't hear a difference in sound quality in 5.1 duties? Don't want to upgrade to the Era 100 if the end result is the same. Sonos seems to de-tunes the rear surround speakers when being used in home theater setting. I mostly watch cable TV or internet series/movies over major streaming services with my system. Probably keep my Symfonisk and One SLs until Sonos stops supporting them.

    • @simplyeniga
      @simplyeniga ปีที่แล้ว

      You’ll want to use the Era 100. The Move can’t be used as surround speakers and is more as a stand alone speaker.

    The normal USB dongles has a digital to analogue converter, but the Sonos USB dongle has an analogue to digital converter.

    When you say it has Alexa voice assistant, does this mean the speaker itself can respond when you say ‘Alexa’ or is it able to be played through a separate Alexa device?

    I liked the sound but not its size, price and features. I settled for a Sony XG300 for being on sale and its features. These bluetooth speakers are not high end audio and i am not using hi res audio tracks

    hello, what do you recommend for speaker the Sonos one Sl or Sonos era 100 speaker? thank you!

    • @mrgold3591
      @mrgold3591 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I kinda group the One SLs/Symfonisk together and Era 100 next level. Depending on your needs, you might have the 99% solution with the One SL/Symfonisk. I have Symfonisk in my master bedroom with Beam Gen 1 (rears on night stand to help with low volume listening at night). I have One SLs in my Office sitting next to a wall on either side of a sofa for a larger space; but , never above 20% volume. I have an Era 100 in kitchen for whole house audio or add in TV sound in kitchen because the Era 100 can fill a larger space with more clarity at +30% volume.

    2x 300 speakers is way better than Arc, tested it myself. Stereo pair is so good.

      There's no way! What if I add two era 300s to my arc and sub?

    • @iam_nick
      @iam_nick ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BaezLife sorry I meant to say 300, not 100! haha. I think with two 300s you dont need the arc, it doesnt make the sound so much better. However adding a sub with the 300s there is a difference.

    Better to compliment a beam gen 2 with sun mini or eras?

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, and very tough to answer but I think 2 x Era 100’s would be our first choice. They add a little bit more overall bass, but bring movies to life with the surround element. On the flip side, you wouldn’t regret going for the SUB mini.

    Received a pair of these today to add to ARC. And was impressed by immersive music experience. However one thing that I was still not able to experience was Dolby Atmos with Apple Music. Tried all possible options. Sonos support says it is possible in real life l couldn't get it working.
    Am I the only one to experience this?

      Found the solution on Reddit. Needed to do an update to the app initiated from the app then update a second time to update my speakers. Also have to click the new checkbox ‘play in spatial when available’. After I did this it worked perfectly. Love the new spatial audio support from apple and Sonos.

    Want to upgrade from Play 1's to Era 100's but what's stopping me is having to buy new speaker stands (£280)- Currently have Sanus stands has anybody managed to find a work around?

    • @smarthomesounds

      We agree the latest generation of stands are expensive. The Flexson version is currently the cheapest @ £159 www.smarthomesounds.co.uk/flexson-floor-stand-for-era-100-pair

      @@smarthomesounds Thanks for the link think I'll try and mod the one's I already have. It would only take an adapter plate so we could use existing stands.

    I was looking to buy a set of the Era 100s for surrounds but my god they charge a ridiculous price of £269 for just a set of stands. So thought I could use a wall bracket instead and they charge £69 for just one bracket. Totally put me off my purchase

    Great Video. The only place I really use a One for Music is the kitchen - the rest are for surrounds, so I might consider an Era 100 for the kitchen..
    I do find it slightly annoying that the $ price is the same as the £ price. Seems us UK customers are not getting the best deal from Sonos.
