I've had zero issues feeding ball 147's, but accuracy was sub par. Switched to focci 180's, and the rifle came alive. I never expected to shoot sub moa with a 16.5 inch .308 battle rifle that was sub 6 pounds, but it happened. I'd take into consideration that it's a 1:8 twist, so lightweight pills naturally won't give you what your expectations were.

I owned the Revolution DI for two months. I ran 30 different types of ammo through it. It was a late 2019 rifle. The gas key came loose, but that was just an ancillary issue. My main issue is the chamber is cut way too tight. I ran 1000 rounds of 308 ($$$) through the barrel slowly over the course of 8 weeks. I found that the rifle was consistently FTE and would exhibit jammed cases on a daily basis during the entire time testing the rifle. My feeling is that the E2 chamber cuts are adding both fouling and additional friction to the casing in the rifle. E2 is a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. It's better to have a smooth surface around the case neck as the case neck edge removes carbon during feeding. No AR in history has needed a chamber design like E2. E2 Chamber cuts just add additional sharp edge friction grip to the chamber and allow the area to become fouled very quickly. I also was very diligent to clean the barrel every 100 rounds or sooner. Some types of ammo would get jammed every 20/40/60 rounds. Furthermore the case ejection pattern would hammer excessively against the rear of the ejection window on the rifle (marring it beyond reason). Keep in mind that the rifle was well broken in and I was able to reduce gas from setting 10 to setting 5 over the course of 1000 rounds. The gas was set very smartly during all shooting events to give ejection at 3pm. So blaming the failures on gas is not a fair point. I had numerous FTE's at the range and it caused huge delays on the firing line. I was shooting in Mesa, AZ so I was able to drive to POF in Phoenix and visit them in person about the issues. POF was very nice on their CS, and they did swap out the upper housing and BCG was upgraded to their second generation BCG (free). But the rifle continued to have FTE's very frequently even at nominal gas settings (after service repair). Both the Rogue and the Rev DI have same BCG and chamber design. IMO POF has some work to do with these platforms. Running WOLF and reaming out the chamber is not my idea of a proper solution to getting the rifle to run properly. POF needs to test barrels on their rifles w/o the E2 chamber cuts. E2 does not belong on AR's. I love POF but I can't use their Rogue/Rev DI as a primary service weapon. It's just not at all reliable. FWIW I was able to get sub MOA with 168 SMK's on a regular basis. Likely because the chamber is very tight tolerance. However the rifle was 2-3 MOA with just about every other type of bullet. So rather picky. I sold the rifle for a $700 loss and I told the buyer the chamber was tight and needed to be cleaned regularly. I also found the recoil to be a bit snappy due to the light weight of the rifle. In the prone position you will need a foam pad at your collarbone. I really love the rifle but it's not ready for prime time.

Thank you for the detailed breakdown! I am working on my next video and am also drawing some of the same conclusions. There are a number of other small changes I would suggest POF make for this rifle to be a good service weapon option. Right now, as it stands, I might rate this as an okay-ish hunting rifle. I think this is a good start and has the potential to take the market by storm but not in its current configuration.

Tested my POF Rogue today put first 80 rounds through it and not one hickup. Sorry to see issues you had hope it got resolved. I shot 5 different brands of ammo after first 40 rounds and at 100 yards I got right at 1 moa with Federal 168 grain gold medal match ammo. That was only match ammo I had on hand. I did shoot a few other brands and they were all 1.5 moa to just under 3 moa. Best FMJ practice ammo I had was 147 grain S&B FMJ. 150 grain Aguila was all over the place as well as 150 grain Fiochhi. My POF Rogue gets 9 inch groups with M80 ball(EDIT this was a bad bad of m80 ball disregard), and with Magtech Sierra Match King 168gr it gets 6 inch groups. It gets 2inch groups with ELDX and Choice Ammo ELDX 178grs. It gets 2inch groups with Hornady American Gunner 155gr.
POF will send a list (its a long list) of ammo that the Rogue cannot shoot well to you if you email them and ask.
The POF Rogue is like they had the formula for success and last minute shot themselves(but mainly the consumer) in the foot by adding in a 1:8 twist barrel for a 308 cambering, relegating the ammo the rifle can shoot to handloads and match ammo. A pitty.

Most likely something to do with the gas system. From my own p308 edge and what ive seen with alot of others they are almost always very overgassed from the factory. Solution would be to adjust the gas or get a heavier buffer. Also got some upgraded springs from sprinco which really help too. To be fair its easier and cheaper to fix an over gassed gun than an under gassed. Not a huge deal if its an over gas issue.

I was on the fence because of these "Bad reviews", but I can tell you, the POF Rogue is an AWESOME rifle! Don't let these "bad reviews" stop you from buying one. My Rogue has been FLAWLESS right out of the box. Cheap steel ammo, brass match ammo, not a single issue. The failure TH-cam videos do this rifle zero justice and are operator errors rather than the gun. This reviewer is using soft points, which POF says not to use. The other one from Big J, the rifle runs perfectly until he adds a cherry bomb and a suppressor...did you read the owners manual bro? It clearly states that if you run suppressed, you need to add an adjustable gas block. If you want a light weight 308, beautifully built, that has almost zero recoil and zero muzzle rise, then this is your jam. I'm forced to have to make my own review video. I put a Vortex AMG UH-1 on it, great optic for short distances, inconsistent reticle dots make precision at long ranges tough.

Hmm, did you clean and lube prior to starting? First thing I did with my new Rogue yesterday was clean and lube, run a patch through the barrel before I even thought about firing a round. Hmm, no failures at all. also, your typical camera will focus on what is right in the middle of the view, not off to the side. Which is why it kept focusing on your pretty face instead of the cartridge base you were holding up way off to the side.

I used to have Armalite’s AR 10’s and they performed very very well,.. if this doesn’t perform very well,.. I may try finding some Armalite’s

      Very pleased.
It is nearing the point of becoming the one rifle if I only had one rifle to grab for the majority of situations.
When I first got it,…it was jumping off the table,… like straight up ,… the factory installed a minuscule brake with only two ports,…. I am assuming to save weight,… this does not do the rifle justice. I switched the factory muzzle brake which had 6 or eight ports off my older POF 308 and it keeps it from jumping and it adds maybe an ounce of weight which is inconsequential compared to the benefit you receive.
I have not put a ton of rounds thru it because life and work get in the way but of the shooting I do ,… I am extremely happy.
I did also install a BCM charging handle which is what I do on all my AR’s ,… I like a healthy size left side grab for charging the rifles instead of a rinky dink factory one that is on AR’s.
Being that it’s based on the AR-15 size , the charging handle is the same length as any AR-15 and works great.
I compared the charging handle on my older POF and it is approximately an inch or two longer.
I think POF made the Rogue into a fine rifle and one that is light weight , pleasure to carry and an accurate rifle but I highly recommend the larger POF brake to tame the rifle from jumping up while trying to shoot,. I’m sure a follow up shot is much quicker now to get back on target after installing the larger brake.
When it’s on a bipod, even with the added weight of the GG&G I used ,… it jumped off the table up into the air,…. Never seen a semi auto do that,… too few ports, too little weight,…. Add a larger brake,…. She’s a dream rifle.

Some commentor spends $1,500 bucks and will defend his sh*t to the end, literally! ...wondering when the malfs are coming, and where to find specific ammo that his combat STYLE rifle can shoot. The "excuse patrol" is damn irritating man. No, a rifle of this type should be damn near 100% reliable with damn near any decent factory .308 ammo... properly maintained. If you have to buy specific ammo for an AR, do not buy it. Do not trust your life to it. (Eight year infantry vet here, but I also have moose in the yard). And $1,500 bones should get us a pretty nice rifle, but not in this case, especially after it had already been returned and "fixed". Plenty of other options now. Like, the Revolution is nice. I’m sorry to hear that. The form factor of the rifle is fantastic and a well performing gun in that form would be wonderful. I have a Savage MSR10 that wasn’t grouping very well until I ran some fire lapping rounds through it. After that it was sub MOA. I have a Rogue rifle but haven’t been out to fire it yet. I’ll see how it goes. Grouping is one thing that’s easier to solve but the gas problems are a whole other set of issues. For a rifle of this cost, I would expect it to be be much better and POF should treat you right.

Daniel Forrest I took mine out today and shot it for the first time without any issues so far. I put a total of 50 rounds of both Remington 180 CoreLokt and 178 Hornady ELDX through it and it ran great. Got it sighted in at 50. Next weekend I’m brining it up where I can send it out to 100 and 200. I didn’t try anything less than 178 and 180 grain so far since those are my hunting loads. I was getting slightly less than one inch groups at 50 with the Hornsby ELDX and slightly over one inch with the Remington ammo. My Savage MSR10 doesn’t like lighter grains and I suspect the Rogue doesn’t either. The Rogue would be much better with an adjustable gas block so you can tune it up. With my MSR10 I had it all tuned up but when I shot it in cold weather I needed to up the gas for it to cycle. We’ll still need to see how the Rogue does in cold weather. So far, so good though and I expect the groups with tighten a little bit after some more rounds go through it.

Never buy an “under engineered” gun. Hell, my S&W M&P AR15 has a few hundred rounds through it with zero issues and I got it for like $500.00. I don’t like the idea of a .308 in an AR 15 sized gun. Just look at the bolt carrier, it’s just not sufficient for the task at hand. I like guns to last a long, long time and I don’t think this one will stand up to the cartridge. Just my $.02. Kudos on the engineering try, but RELIABILITY is rather important in a firearm.

    SHOULDA GOT THE REVOLUTION PISTON

    • @larrywhited3070
      @larrywhited3070 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I did get the Revolution Piston model, and so far I have gone through 272 rounds. These included 200 rounds of .308 Winchester Super X 180 grain (primarily to break in the rifle), 12 rounds of .308 Winchester Super X 150 grain, 40 rounds of .308 Remington Core-Lokt 150 grain, and 20 rounds of .308 Hornady ELD Match 155 grain. (All new ammunition, no reloads. All bought before panic buying stripped the store shelves.)
The only problems that I encountered were with the insertion of the Magpul (polymer) magazines (bolt carrier became seemingly locked in place & with the first round having tried to load--took a firm pull of the charging handle to pull back the bolt carrier). These failures were almost certainly my fault given my tendency to give a (too solid and unnecessary) hard hit to seat the polymer magazines, a leftover bad habit from the first days of the M16. I had NO further problems of any kind once I quit trying to hammer in the magazines.
Over 45 years ago I had 2 different AR-15's (.223 of course), and I honestly did not care for either, although I wanted to like them. Fast-forward to today: I can say with considerable confidence that I do like this rifle that essentially uses the AR-15 platform. (The Revolution is NOT an AR-10.). Also, when a 73-year-old guy with no longer muscular shoulders (and with using no padding) can shoot 272 rounds of .308 in 2 days and not have any shoulder discomfort to speak of, this means that the rifle is a pleasure to shoot.
I do find it quite strange that some independent videos badmouth POF, while others have nothing but praise. It would not surprise me at all if POF's tighter machining tolerances and therefore less slop sometimes results in performance flaws out of the box if proper break-in procedures are not followed. I followed the book for breaking in my rifle, and I am well-pleased with the results.
