    I too have had some marginal experiences with POF customer service. I feel strongly that things have moved in the wrong direction since Frank passed. As far as the Rogue, you simply bought the wrong gun. The revolution, Renegade, P308, and P415 are the cream and would have given the performance you were looking for. It's disappointing that they have introduced a lower tier of rifles of lower quality and missing 90% of the features that make POF rifles stand out above the rest, but it is a tall order to expect guys/gals to shell $2800 for a top shelf blaster. They tried to bring a more cost effective rifle to market and missed the mark, and sadly their reputation is already suffering. I would not buy a rogue or a minute man series POF rifle, but I have an old Gen 4 renegade+ with the 18" stainless barrel and have a legit 12K down the pipe. No failures of any kind and it still slings a one minute group with hand loaded 77SMK.

    It's a 5.9 lb 308 with a 16 inch barrel. With very little recoil. It's not a match rifle. I have had ones that were. They were more like 15+ lbs or more depending on the scope etc. With 20 inch barrels. The POF Rogue with handloading and shooting off sandbags. Will shoot moa groups. But that's not what it's made for. It's one of the best all around rifles that I have ever used. I live in big game country. Deer, bear, elk, moose etc. Mountains, valleys and open hilly terrain. So lots of walking up and down mountains and hills. You don't even notice that you are carrying it. It's good for brush and out to 3-400 yards. The Canadian Rangers use 308 to take down everything including grizzly. So if you want a one rifle to do it all for hunting (and possibly self-defense/military) the POF Rogue is perfect. Just change what you don't like (like grind the safety down). If you are hunting mountain goats antelope or long range match shooting. Well you'll need a longer, heavier and much more expensive rifle (bolt action would probably be better). So for anyone who is looking for a great all around rifle it's perfect. It would make Jeff Coopers day! A 5.9 lb 308 scout rifle!

    • @TheFish711
      @TheFish711 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s not the point. Even if they are decent for many things they could still have been way better with minor design changes.
      The real issue is that the choices were made intentionally by POF to kneecap the rogue so it wouldn’t be as competitive with their more expensive AR-10s.
      The lack of an aftermarket for this pattern of rifle prevents people from making those improvements on their own. Even then why buy a gun just to spend hundreds getting it to where to could be from the factory?
      Also, Jeff Cooper would be appalled by the Rogue. There’s more to the scout rifle concept than being lightweight and a rifle caliber. Lol

    For a sub-6 lb rifle that has decent accuracy, they have a lot of wiggle room with me regarding some of the design issues you pointed out. I swapped out the pistol grip with a BCM grip, put a giessele SSA trigger in there, added the dictator, replaced the butt stock, and added a Lantac brake and suppressor adapter to mine. After a couple hiccups, I’m pretty happy with mine. Is it the most accurate rifle? Nope. Do I need it to be? Nope. Is it the lightest .308 in its class? Yep. And that’s precisely why I bought it. Customer service has been great with my questions and issues I’ve had, and I really love the outside the box thinking they put into this rifle. Love it.

    After seeing IV8888’s meltdown video of the POF 415 I looked hard into the Rogue as my first 308 rifle. I figured they must be doing something right at POF, well the internet is filled with absolute horror stories with the Rogue. I’m sure POF makes great other firearms like the 415 and probably can even make a fine Rogue every once in awhile but I’m steering clear.. research before you buy folks, don’t matter what it is, there’s reviews out there for everything

  • @Lawraven
    @Lawraven ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sorry you had a bad experience. I too swapped the non-adjustable gas block it came with for the dictator. But I did the work myself. It really was pretty easy to do the swap and was more or less just like any other gas block change I have done. However my reasoning was that I needed the adjustable gas block so that it would reliably work with a suppressor. Honestly it didn't work out too great, and even with the adjustable gas block, it really doesn't cycle properly with my suppressor. But that wasn't the reason I bought the rifle in the first place so I certainly can't blame the rifle. I wanted something powerful but also lightweight. In that regard, it is a really good rifle.

    Re the twist / grainage.. I asked a pof rep what they recommend for suppressed shooting and he said the gun is built for 168gr. I dunno, I got the rogue for a gpr / spr, it works for me. 5.9lbs for a ar 308 buys a lot of leeway with me. good vid :)

    I bought one, but not yet had a chance to shoot it. I notice it has a lot of play between upper and lower when I twist the grip left or right. I read that it does best with heavier grain bullets, like 175g. Well, I'll see. It was sort of an impulse buy. I upgraded the furniture and put a side-charging handle on it, and it feels great and has an excellent trigger, but I just hope it shoots great. I own an HK91 and a Tavor 7, but a lightweight .308 sounded like a good idea. The SFAR seems interesting, though heavier.

      I have had good luck with two 110 grn (1Barnes TTSX the other VMAX)loads and a 130 grn Barnes TTSX load. I also had good luck with !65 grn Barnes TSX but with only 7 bullets to try. 147 grn "Perfecta " FMJ are doing 1.5 to 2".My rifle seemed to be way over gassed, and I got no response about an adjustable gas block. They just said it I needed more braking in. I had an H-3 buffer weight and it helped get ejection between 2:30 & 4:00 depending on load.

    Matt. Thanks for your input. I have some experience with this piece of equipment. I can say that I use heavier grain weights and average about 1.25 moa with this one. I understand your beef with the lack of usability with the bad lever. However, there are some pretty awesome design aspects for this lefty. I must say that I am a fan of oof I did have a knucklehead buddy of mine run some Russian steel ammo through it while I was stepped away from the table, and when I got back he was about to stick his pocket knife into the action to free it up. I'm glad I caught him before he did that. But I wasn't fast enough to stop him before he ran that trash ammo through my rifle. Shame on you d. Run that crap through your own rifle. So my advice would be to use quality ammo like the smk 175 gold medal match. I've hit the .75 mark with them a few times.

    Kudos for being patient... As for customer service in the firearms industry, I noticed it has been "hit or miss" (pardon the pun). Some companies such as my experience with Ruger and PSA were great. Others such as Colt can take "forever" just to get a response... If you can get a past issue of Guns and Ammo AR15 (I'm sorry I cannot remember what month/year it came out) but it had an editor contacted several AR 15 companies about a "problem" with their rifle and his experience was telling. The best company for customer service was Ruger and DPMS and the worst was... Wilson Combat if can you believe that... so in summary yes some firearms manufacturers have good customer service because that is "good" for business and those who do not give a wit about good customer service such as the aforementioned "POF", as the consumer in a diverse market you can take you dollars to a company/manufacturer that cares about their customers.... nuff said

POF should definitely stop putting that MOA guarantee on that sticker. Its a super lightweight battle rifle. I know it sucks, but the Ruger SFAR has similar problems. Its tough getting a .308 to run in a AR type rifle....also i do think the Dictator gas block should come standard on the Rogue......bad on you POF. I own the Renegade plus 10.5 inch .300 BO, and i can say its pretty amazing. With the gas block, I can run anything from 110gr Vmax to 220gr Subs with/without a can. The thing just runs

    This isn't a standard AR rifle. It's a one of a kind unique patented design. 1.5 moa is good for a budget AR10. It's good for most non budget battle rifles that aren't a 9lb spr..
    Unfortunately, when you go up to the big boy calibers, $1500 it's budget. The rogue is the cheap version of the revolution.
    You should have done a little more research, saved a little longer, and got yourself a revolution for about 2500
    Otherwise, you're looking at a scar for 3900 but it's 1lb heavier. Same with the Daniel defense. A good 308 gun is $2500-4500, then you need $1500-3000 glass on it.
    The point of the pof is it's extremely light weight for a 308 rifle. The point of the rogue is it's a budget revolution.
    Pick your battles

    I have the same gun and I am equally disappointed. I had POF install the same gas block. The gun seems to chew up the brass pretty bad. I swapped out the buffer to a spikes T2 heavier buffer and that along with the gas block helped with the FTE problem. I bought the gun to hunt with and usually shoot 150 gr variety of hunting ammo and the accuracy is not very good. It will shoot that about 2 moa. I'm no marksman, but I have been shooting/hunting my whole life, so I can shoot moa. This is the most expensive firearm I own and it is the most inaccurate. I tried talking to POF about it and possibly returning it to them for work. That was a very frustrating experience, they did not want to help. I can honestly say I will never purchase another POF product. I might purchase the Ruger SFAR and sell this one.

    6 pound 308 and we're worried about groups? I worry about groups on heavy rifles. Light rifles are quick. Quick rifles are for short range. Short range rifles don't need to be accurate......you follow? This is a hammer, I put an EOTECH on mine. MOM at 100y easy. Everything closer is in deep crap. You know some guns actually have limitations? I want a gun as easy to conceal as an LCP, hold as many rounds as my Czech mate, be as powerful as a 500 S&W and recoil like a 22. It'll be on the shelf next to the 5.9# AR-10 that shoots 1/2" groups.

    • @TheStax81
      @TheStax81  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lighter just means easier to carry, my dude. It is the same size as a standard AR10. Quick to the first shot (because it is lighter) means longer to every follow-up shot because of recoil and if you can't hit the things you want at a distance it sort of makes the whole platform less useful as a tactical platform as well as a hunting platform. For a tactical platform, you would be better off with a SBR in .300blk.

    I have an SFAR, I can't type my entire opinion on it right here in the comments, there are some things I think require changing to make it "correct" but early testing has showed great accuracy and potential. You may want to try one out, and they can be had under 1k.

      @@erichandyauto so far Federal blue box 180gr soft points, Federal Premium 175gr SMK, and 7.62x51 M80 all put down a sub 1" 3 shot group at 100 yards. I was running out of daylight so I only got to shoot one group with each of those bullets. I tested others but so far these were the best prospects.

      @@erichandyauto also for what it's worth to you, I was running an older Vortex PST Gen 1 4-16x50 and I have only shot the gun suppressed, I got it home, pulled the muzzle break off, swapped the trigger for a Hiperfire EDT, and I put a standard Dead Air Nomad 30 suppressor on it all before taking the first shot with it.

    I'd say that group is ok for a $1500 gun. If it was a $2500+ gun with that group, I'd be pissed.

    Don’t you understand by requesting something the gun wasn’t originally sent for you screw up the whole process of assembly? I know it seems like you think it would be easier but if every customer did that they would never get anything done.. when the gun arrives it needs to have everything that’s going to be done to it at that time stated if not it will screw up the whole process and nothing will get done.. it’s just the way it is customer service

    The rogue has been a total crapshoot and haven’t heard anything good about it.
    Sounds like you definitely had a bad experience for sure, but the complaints of the barrel twist rate and proprietary parts didn’t exactly sneak up on you. Research is key for sure.
