I know exactly when the cognition of my brain stopped telling my bladder to do it’s job. I had a stroke more than 11 years ago and a couple of days after the stroke struck, I just suddenly wet myself during therapy time in the rehab center. I just couldn’t believe that happened but it started a very long process of using pads and pull-ups and taking meds that didn’t work. I tried the interstem implant and it didn’t work. Nothing has worked for me until now. I am reluctantly going to try the Botox and I am praying that this will be my answer. I just can’t go on liking this. I am totally miserable.

Dear Dr, Ackerman Thank you so much for your clear and concise discussion, I love that you say it is not my fault and there could be various reasons and to stop beating myself over the head, as you explained I am 82 Male I have had a few UTI last one about 6 months ago resolved by antibiotics, now looking into restricting what I eat and drink, ( how much) kegel exercises losing weight thanks for showing me as to what could be done, I have a great Dr who listens to my concerns I am currently awaiting an appointment with a Urologist and will take it from there Love your sense of humour Thanks again, I am feeling better about this whole situation, as stress obviously can play a great part in this as well.

Thank you for this. It’s reassuring. I’ve had a uti for ten days, and many of the non infection symptoms you suggest trouble me. Off to doc again tonight. I’m 79 next week, hysterectomy in my 30s.

What do you think about Interstem? Is it dangerous or should I worry about nerve damage or long term effects.

I could not control my urine, it seemed that the urine was coming out on its own If I ever went to urinate, it would not happen, but after a while it would come out on its own There is a limit to any disease and now all limits were crossed If this happen in front of anyone, I would be very embarrassed but now I am fine , all thanks to Utracon this product change my life fully .

Thank you so much for this very comprehensive look at OAB which I've had for a few years, getting worse over the last year. Does OAB be the result of many UTi' please as I've had 3 over the last year, non bacterial. Many thanks.

What if the situation is opposite, i.e. bladder is capable of holding but not capable of releasing urine due to long time catheter use . Kindly advise, suggest some of your videos, if any

Was it Shakespeare who said in Hamlet "to be or not to be"?! If so, he would be "turning in his grave" with this one "To pee or not to pee"! LOL!

Speaking of incontinence. Did you miss out on the case where this could happen when something scares the day light out of a person? Or does this only happen in the movie?

No, it happened to me when I was a schoolgirl: got chased by an older bully girl after school and wet my pants.

Dr. Ackerman: OverActive Bladder is NOT Interstitial Cystitis! Interstitial Cystitis is NOT just urgency and frequency and does NOT respond to anything you've addressed here. IC is a viciously PAINFUL condition that disabled millions of people every day ruining marriages and careers and driving people to take their own lives because of the paucity of options you are offering here. Who on earth is teaching these young doctors this happy horseshit about it being socially inconvenient? It is life threatening! The pain is often INTOLERABLE. And it doesn't have to be chronic or incurable if it's treated properly. I'm horrified at UCLA now compared to what it used to be if this is all you offer patients with Interstitial Cystitis.

To advise folks with overactive ladders (woman ) to do Kagel exercises without being evaluated FIRST by a pelvic floor therapist is pretty awful. Especially coming from an MD. If your problem is a tight (hypertonic ) pelvic floor, which can cause over active bladder symptoms Kegel exercises are the LAST thing you want to do. They will make things much worse. Also, you don’t mention if a woman may be lacking estrogen that also can cause OAB. You are really missing some big factors here. And finally, your “cheerful vibe to all this is insulting. Anyone suffering with Interstitial Cystitis would find you very annoying. Ladies over 50, take this video a grain of salt and get your hormone levels checked and see a good pelvic floor therapist. They can tell you if your issues are hormone related and or tight pelvic floor related and proceed from there.
