"Why does Spike's imagination have to sound so sinister?" It's like you've never played D&D before... He is the DM, EVERYTHING that the DM says or does is sinister. It's tradition, or something.
A fictional world should always have it's own fiction within the world. Technically, the real world we live in now would be considered science fiction 50+ years ago, and yet we still have plenty of sci-fi. A world, no matter how ludicrous it is, will always imagine something else.
They could have imagined something better than their current world.
Agreed, and it's why that dang were some people were so very mad about the Daring Do reveal. I don't mind it myself. Others though... oof they thought it meant that the ponies had no fiction at all cause one fictional character turned out to be real which felt like a bit of a leap imo.

Extra sin is that Spike is just a terrible DM, he's far too hostile and then tries to makes Discord feel like an idiot for not knowing stuff he never bothered to explain yet. That's not even getting onto him crowbarring his kinks in to the game. In other words he reminds me far too much of my first DM, yes alas including crowbarring in his kinks, and that was why that was the first and last time I tried Dungeons and Dragons.
Yeah, Spike doesn't do a very good job of being a DM for a first time player. And also, he and Big Mac really should know better than to make fun of Discord when he's right there with him.

@@mirovini. it's slang for 'including something that is not wanted forcefully and or repeatedly' so in this case Spike including his crush on Rarity into the game could be said to be crowbarred in

When Discord's character was created, someone rolled a 1 for Charisma.
Luckily de Lancie voicing him adds a pretty big bonus.
No, he's like most high charisma characters: fun at first, but grating as the game goes on and you just want to do the adventure instead of listening to him talk about himself.

@@itspienoon7883 Honestly my opinion of him degraded over time too, but it was because he stopped being this cool morally gray character who was friendly with the Mane 6 but messed with them from time to time and started just kinda being an accessory to Fluttershy's character. I get people think they're cute together or whatever but honestly the most boring Discord episodes are the ones that revolve around Fluttershy imo.
@@nessesaryschoolthing That's your biased opinion. Discord is one of the best characters in the series. You are describing Trixie except Trixie never was fun, interesting or had anything even resembling charisma.
Honestly, deliberately leaving in animation errors does sound like something Discord would do.

After watching this video, another sin I would have made is that the real reason Spike didn't want Rarity talking about the game is because he didn't want to know the damsel in distress was based on her. Talk about awkward...
Discord making being in the game looking exactly like the game is interesting. Doesn't mean that he doesn't understand the imagination part of it and takes it as it is? But I guess someone omnipotent would have no need for imagination.
Perhaps it's more of a cognitive dissonance kind of thing, less for those playing in the fake world, more for him so he doesn't accidentally effect reality and have fluttershy or Celestia get angry at him for something he didn't intentionally do.
Well, Discord did kinda reveal that the reason he seldom intervened after his reformation was so Twilight would feel confident and ready... also probably because he enjoys the free entertainment.
But for real... I have to wonder how often he raged seeing Fluttershy upset or in danger.
Yeah! For example, in “To Where and Back Again Pt 1” when Starlight mentioned that the Mane 6 was captured by Queen Chrysalis and the Changelings, he went BALLISTIC because guess who’s in the Mane 6? Fluttershy.
I think his protectiveness over Fluttershy is what created the Fluttercord ship in the first place, but that’s probably just me
This is one of my favorite Discord episodes! Seeing Discord interact with Spike and Big Mac for a guys night was pretty awesome, especially when Discord made Ogres and Oubliettes real for those two in fact every time i see that part it makes me think that if i had to choose between playing the board game and playing the real thing i would choose the real thing every time, because sure the board game is fun but the real thing is way more exciting!
Wish we had gotten an episode or two of him doing this with the main six. Instead we just get a Twilight lesson that dragged on too long.
It's surprising based on your statement how dnd is considered completely fine, but Live Action Role Play or LARPing is considered weird.
It turned out that capturing Shmarity cost the Squizard an arm and a tentacle.
This was hands down one of my favourite episodes. I'm a fantasy nerd so seeing these things combine was great

First of all; as a D&D nerd, this episode appealed to me on so many levels.
Second, what Discord did at the end is what many consider to be LARPing; which is like D&D but no game boards or pieces.
Third, there are so many within the Analysis Community whom I wish that/wonder if they have played the game before (you being one of them, Littleshy.) There's Silver, Brawny Buck, Jasper, Thespio, Sketchy and even MangaKamen and Lily

The "Spike is really bad at squid game" had me dying 🤣 your videos are super funny! Too bad they only come once a month tho.
It's an episode about fantasy creatures pretending to be other fantasy creatures in a fantasy land within a fantasy land where magic and fantastical creatures are common.

37th sin: it's already have been showcased a few times that Discord doesn't want the Mane 6 to always depending on him. He wants the Mane 6 to grow into capable ponies, all on their own. Besides, Fluttershy didn't even ask for Discord's help in that scene. Yes, she could be too scared and panicking to think clearly and called out for Discord. However tho, she didn't actually need Discord's help since it was only a prank by Dashie and not a dangerous situation

I was about to go to bed early and/or send my dinner back the way it came just now, but your video convinced me to do neither of those.

Let's be honest, Discord would 100% pretend he can't tell ponies apart just to get them annoyed.

You forgot one. Discord tried to literally murder Spike and Big Mac and faced absolutely no consequences.
I assume they were in no actual danger, as discord was in complete control there and he doesn't hurt people, just messes with them in creative ways.

I will say there is a nice bit of continuity at the end where Discord in his character cosplay has one hand of parsnips, due to the backfiring spell at the start of the game.
Spike saying Imagination so sinister like is to avoid any backlash from Nickelodeon for SpongeBob saying it in his way
I'm shocked that there isn't a sin for having the Oubliette, a real torture dungeon, mentioned in this Kid's show.

Well, it's possible he doesn't find them himself. Just go on a wiki for an episode that lists the animation errors and find the relevant footage. He could just be eagle-eyed though.
This episode was like D&D meets SAO! And then D&D gets SAO's door slammed in its' face so it tries to become SAO only to fail somewhere around halfway forcing SAO to bail D&D out for its' own safety.

My Headcanon for Spike's Interest in Ogers and Oublietts and Guys Night comes from Shining Armor. It was something Shining Armor used to do with his Friends, he eventually got Spike into it. I like The Idea of Spike and Shining Armor bonding over something and being Brothers to each other, so I accept This as My Headcanon.

I was weirdly resentful of the mane 6 horning in on the guys’ thing. It’s not that they can’t or shouldn’t play the game in general, but it feels in the moment like they just can’t stand fun being had without them and just barge in - like kids who can’t stand it to be someone else’s birthday.

Not me trying to find mistakes you missed. Then I remembered you’re the type to spot an out of place pixel that appeared for 1 frame.
This episode was disappointing! When I heard about the title, I was hoping for the episode to focus on the Actual D&D, but we don't even get that in the last few minutes towards 3rd Act and it was VERY brief, Instead we have to indulge with an angry Discord. This episode could've been fun with a bit of worldbuilding.
Honestly, I love this episode because it's an episode that shows Discord bonding with somepony other than Fluttershy.
