I think it’s almost time for me to do an update on my Cold Steel collection. Long overdue!! Yeah these budget blades will absolutely help your knife collection grow . Thanks so much brother. Glad you are here . There are still 2 blades by Timber Rat that I’m still on the hunt for . I think the one was like $20 when it was first for sale many moons ago . I bought it !! But had to sell about 7 years ago ( I think I got like $30 for it ). Well .,, I did see that blade on eBay not long ago … The guy was selling for $124 !!! In the “ Buy it now “ section . I just could not justify !!!! But now I’m having second thoughts cause I haven’t seen it since . But still on the lookout . Stayyyyyy Tuned haha
Perhaps the difference is in the tanning of the leather... my Cold Steel Cinquedea was left in its sheath for about 3 weeks, and when I took it out, it was heavily pitted. Still not sure how to fix it.
It’s a real pain to fix without the right tools . I still have one by Down Under - the Eclipse that I am almost giving up on . I did a ton of sanding . Now it looks more like a custom made knife as the original finish is all gone . I’m upset over this . I only had in its sheath for a few months . It was expensive too ! Might have to send to a professional.
Timber rattler makes budget knives with budget steel....as long as you go into it knowing that. They are fun to play with but i wouldn't use them for any serious jobs like chopping and battoning, they might do it but they WILL eventually roll or chip and completely break in some situations, I have several they are nice to look at but they do not get used!
Thanks for the comment . Yeah I never put these knives thru any hard use …. I don’t put the very expensive ones thru the ringer either . Out of my entire collection, I have about 12 that I rotate for EDC . Lately it’s been the Pohl Force Prepper SERE . Such a well made knife !! Great size too . Not too big Not too small . And I think it’s legal to carry almost anywhere . But don’t quote me on that 😂😂😂
Just stainless . Probably the lowest of the low haha . I found out that the Western is made by like 5 different companies . Ain’t that something!!!???? So I guess depending what batch you are getting, you could receive a real beauty with better heat treat , or a real turd ( like mine ). I may have to order another now just to see if there is any difference. Check out some Amazon reviews . I was reading some the other day . Very Interesting comments on this blade ( Western Outlaw ).
I recommend you do some research on dissimilar metal corrosion. I was an aviation structures mechanic in the navy, where I learned about this subject. When you place two different metals together, a chemical reaction happens which produces corrosion. Your TR65 probably has the purest brass, which probably accelerated the process. This, and salt water makes it even worst. Hence the US Navy taking this issue very seriously. I hope this is helpful. Just recommend more TLC than others. 👍
now that is a timber rattler collection brother! and thats weird how the one blade rusted maybe its a different steel than the others idk that much about timber rattlers tho
They are awesome, I have never gotten a poorly done timber rattler, I have always had killer luck with timber rats, some can become rather un fun at times, but there some of the best made budgets in my opinion,
I’m glad I posted this . Just reading the comments helps so much with my own questions . Apparently there are like 5 diff companies making the Outlaw ?? Probably using different steel . Similar….. but different. Just funny how my oldest ones have no issues at all . And they say that Pakistan blades are improving ????? Hmmmmm ……. I got a custom D2 from Pakistan that looks like it was submerged with the Titanic . It’s only 2 years old and an eye sore . ( again …. Stored inside sheath ). It also had curled on me when I went to bust thru a water bottle . I gotta feeling it’s not really D2 steel haha . Hey thanks for watching brother . Loving ODIN each and every day !! Getting ready for the next masterpiece.
@@tubes5150 ive only ever had one blade rust inside the sheath and it was cuz i hadnt treated the leather yet and i use the mink oil paste it lasts a lot longer than the oil but it also doesnt rust your blade so you can put a coat of it on your blade to and itll protect it a whole lot longer than oiling them up will but damn curled on a water bottle only thing i can think of there is bad heat treat d2 steel was made to stamp out other steels it should have no issues with a water bottle lol

It was like he was watching over my shoulder !! Creepy !!!! Anyway - I did buy the Timber Wolf and the other is still in my cart . I would of bought already but the shipping and tax fees are seriously outrageous!!! $118 knife turns into $147 at checkout . I sent the company a message asking for a promo code or something . I’ve been buying from this company for years and I must have at least 40 transactions with them . All I’m requesting is a discount or free shipping . Let’s see what they say …. Anyway …. Excited about this Timber Wolf ! I love the look now let’s see how it holds up . ( don’t know what kind of steel this is ). Oh !! One more surprise blade heading my way …. Check out the Vetus Tiger Bowie . A lot of knife at a great price !!!! ( comes in a beautiful leather sheath and a case with those suit case buttons / latches ). I am super excited about that one !!!
Since they don't specify the steel type, except Pakistani Stainless, the rust indicates that the Western Outlaw is made of a higher carbon steel than typical 3Cr13 used on inexpensive Bowie knives. Watching tests with the Western Outlaw, it seems to perform better than 3Cr13.

I always put my carbon steel knives in vinegar. It gives it a black patina and prevents rust. Preserves the knives integrity. I don’t really care if it’s shiny I kind of like it being black. If the patina get scraped off, I just give it another vinegar bath. I still put a little bit of oil on it, but I never store my knives in their sheaves either.
You are the Biggest Buy Knife king
Tubes 1050 and your collection of TR knife shows your passion for them ,budget buy knives can help you get a big collection very quick ,and you have a huge Timber Rattler knife collection and even more then me. But I may have you one the Cold Steel and a few others but especially the Cold Steel.🗡️🗡️🗡️💲🗡️🗡️🗡️ TR 65 is actually the best of the Timber Rattler knives and the steel has more Carbon content so it rust more easy if stored in the oil cheap sheath and the sheath will stain the blades especially of the
Out Law Bowie TR 65 💰💰🎱💰💰
I think it’s almost time for me to do an update on my Cold Steel collection.
Long overdue!!
Yeah these budget blades will absolutely help your knife collection grow .
Timber Rattler , Elk Ridge , MTech , And a few others are definitely blades that are not only Decent knives , but those prices are absolutely insane !!
They are sure to go up in price one of these days .
( some Already have ).
Schrade is another fan favorite 🤠🙏❤️🔪
Very nice collection there my friend, I to say that is orange and man that’s a beautiful knife. That tr186 and 85 are just brutes , thank you sir for sharing very nice blades brother. Take care my friend God bless.
Well .,,
I did see that blade on eBay not long ago …
The guy was selling for $124 !!!
In the “ Buy it now “ section .
I just could not justify !!!!
But now I’m having second thoughts cause I haven’t seen it since .
But still on the lookout .
Stayyyyyy Tuned haha
@@tubes5150 will do good luck brother.
Not too big
Not too small .
And I think it’s legal to carry almost anywhere .
But don’t quote me on that 😂😂😂
I like those Timber rattlers..I have the outlaw bowie..
Do you know what steel It is?
Outlaw Bowie is the best knife ever made.
Best Comment Ever 🤠🙏❤️
now that is a timber rattler collection brother! and thats weird how the one blade rusted maybe its a different steel than the others idk that much about timber rattlers tho
@@tubes5150 outstanding my friend 🇺🇸,
@@wyatthines153 Yeah I was pissed at the seller ….
I reported my issues to him and he still tries to sell me more .
He said “ I’m going to use another steel now so it will be better “.
Wrong answer !!!
He should of said “ return that to me - I’ll make sure to fix it “.
Instead of trying to con me into another haha .
“ Fool me once ……”
I would bet that #1 Bowie is that 1055 cheap steel again. It will rust while you are watching and twice as much if you turn your back.
Hahahaha
I’m interested in the timber rattler gunslinger 1095 steel and it case harden finished
I actually ordered that Gunslinger .
I wound up cancelling that order .
It’s just personal taste .
I don’t like the blued blades at all .
I even returned my Cold Steel a while back .
The Frontier .
I hear they are great knives but again - not a fan of the blues blade plus that handle was awful on the Frontier .
The handle on the Gunslinger looks better .
It’s probably a decent blade at 1095 .
Just not a fan .
Let me know what you think ( if you do order ).
@@tubes5150 mybe next month lol, I just ordered 2 onterio bayonets from midway usa, awesome deals currently on the M7 and M9 onterio. Keep up the cool videos big dawg.
@@mikeaze423 oh I gotta check that out !!
Thanks so much 🤠
I had to come back to this video cause pretty much the same thing happened to my Outlaw! This steel isn't stainless! Mine was oiled to the point of being sopping wet and it still stained! Now, it's a GREAT knife regardless! I put an edge on it and it became a SUPER BLADE!!! Here's the thing. It stained, not rusted and, I like the way it looks lol! But, I really doubt that the steel, is stainless...
It’s a head scratcher!!!
I was told that the Outlaw is made by at least 3 different factories .
You and I got ours from the one that pays $2.85 an hour for labor haha .
I know what ya mean though …
Still pretty bad ass !!
@@tubes5150 I really like the knife. Once you put a real edge on it, it literally becomes a Superblade! But it stains. On mine, I like the way it looks. Has that used look to it ( paper and arm hair is about it though lol)! But even oiled up, it still manages to blotch up. Interesting!
Cowboy, just received the Timber Wolf Fur Trader Toothpick... MAN, it's truly a BEAST! Double edged 9+ inch newly 2 inch thick, RAZOR SHARP right out of the box badass! Whoops! It's a Timber Wolf not Rattler. But, check out the knife on BUDK. I think you'll like it...
Are you telepathic???
I just ordered this knife !!!
This is so crazy !!
This is twice now this has happened to me this week .
I ordered a few knives to be reviewed, and other than this one ( Timber Wolf ), I had my finger on the checkout button on another.
Before I placed the complete order button I hesitated.
Took a break and went to TH-cam .
A guy who I never in my life heard of , sent me a comment about how I would love this particular knife ( a big ass Bowie with stag handle ).
I was blown away !!
@@tubes5150 EXCELLENT!!! Can't WAIT for your review! I hope you're as pleasantly surprised as I was! It "is" an impressive knife!
@@tubes5150 gonna check out the Vetus Tiger Bowie too!
@@jorgefernandez6407 Awesome!!!!
I think there is 2 or 3 left ( the Vetus )
Since they don't specify the steel type, except Pakistani Stainless, the rust indicates that the Western Outlaw is made of a higher carbon steel than typical 3Cr13 used on inexpensive Bowie knives. Watching tests with the Western Outlaw, it seems to perform better than 3Cr13.
Order some rust eraser from AG Russell knives.
I was thinking about that last week -
I forget the name now .
Luckily I took a screen shot .
On a mission my friend .
Thanks so much for watching 🤠
Remember the knife from crocodile dundee in LA?
Cowboy does a great Dundee video if you look at his past videos
@@gregf8167 i know i was. Referring to the folder he carried in that particular movie
I can’t remember!!!
I gotta watch that now .

There are about 5 different companies who build blades for timber rattler, most in Pakistan 🇵🇰,
Donovan..do you knows what steel is the timber rattler bowie knife? The outlaw..
It react in my opinion like 440 A...
Do you know what steel those companys use?
Thanks in advance Donovan..
@@sergeantdef.3572 what ever they have on hand, i have even seen same model different steel, never can tell, d2, just, 440, stainless, you just never know, hope this helps 👍

Thank you very much..
@@sergeantdef.3572 sorry it didn't help much but you just never can tell what they will use, cowboy cbop and the Arizona sunset bowie, ok I have the same bowie he has a flat pommel i have a hooked pommel so that right there shows that two different factorys make the same model, it's crazy, just always remember to never store your blade inside the sheath it will cause a reaction with the leather and cause rust to form, polish blade really well wrap it in papper and with rubber bands put knife on to of sheath and pop a couple of rubber bands on it and put in a dry box, hope all is well my friend and thank you for watching, your always welcome here my brother, what part of the world are you in,

Real talk MARVELS MYSTERY OIL best thing for 1095 oil

My brother found at a fair somewhere and snagged it up for me .
I never knew it existed !!
Great video brother 👍#22aday #Community
Thank you so much 🤠
They are okay knives just put a good sharp edge on it
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
And I would would agree that they are okay Knives .
Magnificent for the price though haha .
My bowie replaced my parang. Lol if you ever learn to properly edge them and maintain it on like donky kong. 7cr is not crap especially if you grew up in the 70 n 80. Put timber 7cr up against other cr and youll see what was written. Should make competition stop price gouging.
The buffalo Joe isn't full tang. So, me personally, I wouldn't buy it 😐👎.
Don’t be so negative towards the non full tang aspect .
Plenty of great blades out there that are not full tang that will last you a lifetime plus .
I don’t know if the Buffalo Joe would fit that category haha 😂.
Just saying ….
Cowboy C Bop
There's no such thing as a good fixed blade thats non full-tang 😐.
You just gave me a great idea for a future video .
Thanks 🙏

Hey Playa, tell me why you white boys like so many knives. Is it a lack of manhood problem? I see all the long knives you have. Are they making up for something else being too short? Each his own though whatever makes you feel more like a man.
