Chad do they do any ocean boat racing there? If your ever get down to a marina in a beach place id like to see what bigger boats are rolling there. Not your usual content but id be cool to just have a look at marina boats.
@ yes, true in most western nations... but the point I was making is that their government might not be seen, from afar, as freedom loving but in fact offers many freedoms in their citizens daily lives.
Videos like this show how universal the desire to be faster than your friends is. These farmers racing tractors isn't much different than the farmers I grew up around racing their farm trucks or farmers in Scotland racing the sheep they're dating.
This is fantastic. Thailand really is the "right brain" of Southeast Asia for so many interesting reasons. No where else in 1000 miles will you find this kind of creativity at work. You see it in their custom motorbike culture as well (trucks too). They really are imagining, making and just TRYING genuinely new things. Man I miss those guys.
Then you maybe never had visited the Philippines.. I am not only talking about jeepneys, but custom vehicles you see nowhere else.. bikes with pumpboat motors, bikes converted to a car, and so on.. :D
I live in the deep South in the United States and these are my type of people. If I were in Thailand this is where I would be, and these folks would fit right in here in the South.
Having lived in the South, I would say those would be your kind of people only if they underwent genetic manipulation, because most of the people in the deep South don't seem to like any kind of foreigners; they don't even like American born whiteys from other conservative states.

Good one Chad,,, They will race ANYTHING in Thailand and i wish Australia was like this,, back in the 1970,s it was. Local Drag strips here now are lucky to have 300 people in the stands due to a number of things. The Thai builds are immaculate and performance is great and people never stop trying to get to the next level. I just wish we had a few thousand of there workshops here as the cost of living here has driven prices to insane levels. $20,000 to do a repaint on a straight undamaged 1993 GMC pickup in the original colour and 3 months,, CMON. Paint strip and colour change another $8,000. Its cheaper to Import a finished Car from Thailand as 1 there right hand drive and 2 freight is cheap around $4500 in a container. 60 days quoted Dec 2022. The Thai,s would do my GMC OBS C1500 pickup in 2 1/2 weeks. I have heard of Up market Jaguars being sent to Hong Kong or the Phillipines to be restored.
I got some quotes to get my MX5 painted here in New Zealand & they wanted insane amounts also. I ended up doing it myself only cost about 500 in paint etc & my job ended up better than on some new cars.
WOW !!! $20,000 for a repaint, same color ! That's literally insane ! And I thought it was high here in the states. But here you can take it to Maaco and get a same color, repaint, with decent paint for under $1000. At least the last time I checked it was ? Obviously, the powers that be in AUS don't really want anyone to repaint a car. Just throw it away, and buy a new one, right ?
@@glennjames7107 I've never seen a 'decent' paint job from a Maaco, to be fair. The problem with repainting old cars in the US at least is that cyanoacrylate paint got banned.

The guys ride these machines with their legs wide apart, not just for balance or stability, but because of the huge pair of balls necessary to compete in this mental motor racing sport!
So much fun. They can race absolutely everything that has an engine on it and then invent some. Their equivalent of a "top fuel" are crazy. I was at Do Home Laem Chabang this afternoon. Really a great DIY shop. You can buy one of those motor complete with a headlight system integrated into the design brand new for less than USD1k. Next row you can buy a welding machine, TIG, MIG whatever you like, next row you can buy some aluminum or steel tube, then go to the next row for whatever you need....then go back home and get creative.
I've noticed the Thai spirit of competition when riding around on my scooter in Thailand. On occasion If I blast past some dude, he will blast by me in grand fashion. Love that spirit. I might need a turbocharged scooter If that is even possible.
