    HI Chris. Great video as always. You would be surprised at how many times I have seen cars that had bad horns and the repairs followed your example rather closely. One thing about the horn relay. If you hear a click, that only means that power is getting to the coil. The contacts are checked by checking the voltage as you did earlier. In my experience, if you get voltage to the connector, the relay is good. If you get a click and no voltage, the contacts are bad. And if you get no click and no voltage, it might be the relay but can also be the fuse or horn button. Its always good to see the younger generations understanding cars as well as you do. Keep up the good work! -Still keeping em running at 61

    I couldn't tell in the video, but what do you set the multimeter to test the voltage going to the horns? I don't feel like mine are as loud as they should be because the same pair on a different car sounds a lot louder so I'm not sure I'm getting the correct voltage. But I do want to test the circuit out just to be sure, I just don't know what to set the meter to.

    • @chrisfix
      @chrisfix  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Viper Jay 5 You set the volt meter to 20dcv. That will ensure you are getting the correct voltage. If you have the correct voltage, then you should make sure you are getting the correct amount of amps (using an amp-meter).

But after listening to this, I'm certain it's just the low horn that's bad. I'll test it out before making the purchase!

    Hey ChrisFix. I can't seem to find any relevant video that shows how to diagnose the ABS system. When I purchased my first car, I didn't really pay attention to the ABS. I realized that one of the past owners must of taken out the light on the ABS from the dash so it will not turn on if it goes bad. During the winter I tried and tested it on the snow to see if I even have ABS by doing a hard break. The ABS did not turn on or engage. I'm convinced that My car does not have the ABS working. I think something might be disconnected or could be something else. Have you done anything that covers this? I'm not sure exactly where to start, but would like to work on this for the summer.

    Hi Chris, I hope you can make a video, if possible, of a work around on sticky horn pads in an airbag setup. If possible. Thanks!

    Great video, I would assume this would be the same with a 2008 Ford Edge? Thx for sharing.

    Hey Chris. My 2011 Ford Ranger has only one horn and it doesn't sound very good. Can I add a second horn to it to give me a better over all sound. What do you suggest. Thanks

    Great video. Q: I have a 2018 Kia Rio with a single tone horn. I want to remove it and install an aftermarket high+low horn like the one here. Is it safe on the relay, fuse and the alarm system since the dual tone will draw more current and what should I do?. Thank you.

    Could you possibly make a tutorial on how to change the horn on a 2000 Ford Expedition

    Chris ... its actually resistance check that you just did in the there. Continuity is some thing where in the multimeter beeps when there the circuit is complete. The reading you got on the display is 0.08 ohms thats the resistance of the coil in the horn assembly.
