    I kind of wished this series would have been something of a fantasy adventure series where it followed the games loosely. Like Tak, Jeera, Lok etc. can still be the main characters. But season 1 could have followed the first game story, then season 2 could have followed "The Staff of Dreams" storyline, then season 3 "The Great Juju challenge". I think the series would have been received well by fans of Tak if you did something like that instead of "random thing of the week" formula.

      @DeadlyAlienInvader 2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      I agree with you, it should have been an action packed show like Avatar, MLAATR, Danny Phantom, and Jimmy Neutron-as I expected it to be. But unfortunately, because it came out during the beginning of an economic crisis, and tons of talented, veteran writers went on strike, tv shows only wanted to produce full-blown comedies because they were cheaper to make and usually bring a gold mine of ratings, even if they’re terrible. So, as much as I wish the TV was closer to the tone of the video games, I can understand why they went with the comedic sitcom route.

    First of all thanks for this video. You have no idea how much it means to me... I am one of the animators who worked on the show. The show was basically made in Data Quest Animation Studios in Hyderabad India.
    We did 12 to 14 hours shifts at the time ( including graveyard shifts) and basically didn't even get to see the end result. At the time Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was also being made there and a bunch of other big studio projects. so most of the animators were constantly juggled around and the management was basically a shit show.. Anyways watching this video brought back a lot of great memories (and not so gr8 ones).. Thanks.

    I never liked the show much, but it stayed completely alive in my brain for one reason and one reason only: There's an episode where Kiko(?) is mourning his missing family and whistles this sad lullaby, and when I read The Hunger Games for the first time (way back in 09, pre-movie) THAT'S what I imagined the whistle for Rue sounded like in the book. And since I've read the books many times in the past decade, I've always remembered that and, by extension, this show 😅

  • @TheMaghorn

    I always thought the show came out 4 years too late. I think it would have done much better if it had aired alongside the games, because it would have been in the public eye and probably would have been more consistent with the games. The main cast are much more competent in the games than how they're presented in the show, and they make implications that the show takes place after The Staff of Dreams through references to the games, but everybody still doesn't respect Tak even though he's saved the world twice, which really hurt the show for me.

    Surprised you didn't menetion how the series also goes by the "denser and wackier" rout, it does a couple of surreal gags, weird moments for the sake of it, which...explains why I thought the series was fine. Mind you, I never played the games. Bonus points goes to Kari Wahlgren voicing Jeera (who's a series-exclusive character) in this, as well.

    As I kid I know I saw the show, but no episode in particular stands out. However in the city I used to live, in the local McDonald’s used to have video games. It was in this huge green block right smack in the middle of the play place, with two screens on opposing sides of the block. Each screen had two old controllers for the option of 2 players. The games never got changed (as far as I remember this was in 2007) so one side always had a Spyro game, and the other had the Tak game. As for which Spyro game, I don’t remember which one but I do recall a pink dragon behind bars asking to be let out, and my dumb kid self not being able to figure the level out. As for the tak game, I remember less as it was a platform level I think and I also remember not being able to complete that one either. I moved in 2013 so I have no idea if that old game block even still exists in that specific store/location but it’s highly likely it got renovated and removed.

    When I was younger tak and the great juju challenge was the one game me and my brother loved to play together (even if I was always stuck as Lok, he is not bad and pretty fun at times but I wanted to be tak sometimes) and I had pretty high hoped for the show. It was not all bad I will say, I enjoyed some of the episodes and it was entertaining for a bit but it did become repetitive and yeah the whole year off for a season thing helped killed it, but I do still love the series and I can't wait for the reboot. (Also i don't care, Dead juju is great period. One if my favorite characters in the show and games)

    The games were amazing and incredibly fun. The show... not so much, and they also dropped the ball on bringing in the game fans because they did that thing cartoon producers do where they change up the whole lore and even character names for some reason.
    Jabulba wasn’t Tak’s Uncle.
    Lok was believed to be the Great and Mighty Warrior of the Pupununu people until the events of Tak 1.
    Dead Juju was changed to Party Juju... because he parties I guess, but the joke was the Juju of death was a cheery fun loving guy.
    Flora never made an appearance as far as I’m aware, and she was basically Tak’s navi for the first game. (Neither did the Moon Juju for that matter)
    The Woodies were NOT gigantic monsters but were people sized. They were still a threat though because they were incredibly hostile. Well okay, some were big, but not the type of Woodie presented in the show.
    They completely dropped a lot of the quirkiness and humor of the games in favor of a generic animated cartoon formula, and it sucked.
