This was truly something. Dale was probably the greatest NASCAR driver in the world. I think it should have gone for more money because it is just gorgeous, it is serial number 3 a.k.a "THE INTIMIDATOR" it was led by an original 3 car and it comes with an actual raced engine from the 2000 Daytona 500. I was at the auction and it was my favorite car at the auction
Bless Dale's heart we all miss him. I can't get to the place where I watch Nascar anymore. Dale died in 2001 & its like its just not racing anymore. Dale Sr was the greatest driver of all times.
To me...anything affiliated with R Childress just turns me off and pretty much lose all interest if that "guy" is involved...Make no doubt about it..the #3 should NOT be on Austin Dillons car or anybodys stock car for that matter...I mean for fuck sakes..if I was A Dillon..I wouldnt even dream of driving a car w/ the #3 on it..I'd feel so uncomfortable and wrong for doing such...theres just no way...and yea..yea..people I get it..its just a number..this n that...NASCAR has never retired a number before...they should have in this case...BIG TIME..
I have to agree with you about Childress, I'm not sure why he's done some of the things the way he has involving the #3...the Petty's have enough class to just keep on leasing the #45 every year in honor of Adam, you'd think Childress would of at least done that. As for NASCAR retiring the number..... do you really expect Brian France to do ANYTHING right?
Absolutely agree....NO ONE should EVER have the #3 on a CUP car, mainly cuz it should be retired!!!!! To date no one has won 7 cup championships except Petty....and I don't see it happening anywhere in the near future. I wasn't an Earnhardt fan per say but I did respect the way he went in his own direction and wasn't afraid to stand up and fight for what he believed in. Yes,he was a VERY sore loser ,but he didn't react any differently than anyone else did in private. Love him, hate him....whichever ,but respect is something he had from EVERYONE whether they spoke it publicly or not!!!!!
agreed. that number should never have another face with it. I guess time healed his wounds.....probably got offered a ton of cash from nascar to bring it back in hopes to save what's left of Dales sport. sad but probably true.
It was teresa Earnhardt that sold the rights to the #3 and #8. I watched a video of how she broke that family apart and sued Dale Jr and the other Son Karry Earnhardt. She went after all the kids like a tornado after his death. This is why Jr went with Dale Jarret #88 and drove it until he retired.
Bob you are exactly right if they don't do something with Nextel cup or NASCAR should I say I'm afraid to say within the next couple years it will be all but gone
@@tltsw Duh huh you don't just get to pick a number and it's yours. When you leave a race team the number stays with the team. Jr couldn't just take the 8 with him. i have mixed emotions on this car because the car itself was not dale sr.'s only the motor had anything to do with dale and that should have been in a museum along with the car it was out of it would be cool to own it but sooner or later it will be forgotten who the motor came from or it will be destroyed by someone and the history along with it just think about how many cars and motors have been lost or forgotten from other legendary drivers and then you can realize how important it would be to put them in a museum rather than sell them to someone who will eventually end up selling them to someone who doesnt care about the history of where it came from
@dale225 No, Theresa's maiden name is Houston, Brenda Gee was Sr's second wife and Kelly and Dale Jr's mother. Robert Gee was also a respected car builder and one of the first employees of Hendrick Motorsports.
Making money off of your dead friend. You should be ashamed of yourself. The only good thing you could of done was to give it to Dale Jr. Sad ...very Sad Richard.
@ LS Killer When your banging your sister do you kiss her with that mouth? Richard Childress as a stock car driver couldn't win racing against the pace car and wouldn't have a pot to piss in if Dale hadn't made him a multi-millionaire. The people that sell these cars for charity arent out anything they write it all off on taxes. If Childress was a real friend of Dales he would have had Nascar retire the number 3 instead of letting his no-talent grand brat use the number and maybe mention that he and his grand brats wouldn't even be in racing if it wasn't for Dale.
sell the car? they made 50 to sell. Sell the motor? Its just another used up cup car motor. Im sure he has tons of old Dale Sr engines sitting around the place taking up space. A lot of them probably parted out and scrapped. Why not sell one for someone else to enjoy it. THe big money Cup teams only run a motor 2 or 3 races if that many before trashing it parting it out or selling it to ARCA

At ...$600,000... the car and or motor will not be driven to the point of forgotten and destroyed. This kind of collection will be preserved.
Kevin Peterson it’s got the heart of Dale’s race car and that’s all that matters too some
