      more like what THEY see as the justice and betterment of the world. Hence why morianne seeks out the dragon to controll him and lessen the second world breaking while "guiding" him. Turns out blue ajah don't know nearly enough and the worlds course is bad enough that it actually needs to get broken first before it can mend cleanly but I digress. They do protect a number of people and are generally good though but at the same time is almost as politically active as the grey and have a habit of trying to move people in the "right" way without their approval. Something morianne discover personally when rand block her out ENTIRELY and force her to make an oath of servitude to let her back in. Long story short her whole worldview falls apart and she litterary on her knees begs him to listen to her and him being quite agitated and pissed at aes sedai in general asks for an oath of servitude in return.
      Yellow sisters like to not just heal injuries but also the world which means some of them have a bit more bite than at first glance. The green is quite interesting in that some of them consider binding the male key players as guardians to get ontop of fighting but at the same time green ajah treat their guardians quite well for most part.....yes good enough to share lodging in more than one way.
      brown are brown and a small number of them end up in rands following just to study the dragons effect on the world and record its passing. Long story short all of them have more and less pleasant sides to them where red sisters discover first hand that male and female force together is stronger than just female and gets concerned they might have stilled to many men so that the gift is weakening and becomming more rare even among women. A suggestion from red sisters of all things is to marry stilled men and carry their children to counteract this.

    Ah, this topic! I remember as of 1991, when "The Dragon Reborn" came out, the first two books hadn't really gone into detail about the other Ajahs much. I was in High school and my mom let me get out of school so that I could go to a book-signing where Robert Jordan was appearing, When I spoke with him, I told him about my fascination with the Aes Sedai and the White Tower and asked him if he was planning to tell us more about the rest of the Ajahs. I don't remember exactly what he said verbatim but he did say that he was planning to reveal more about each of the other Ajahs as the story progressed. Now, looking back, there were probably a lot better question better questions I could have asked. But, yeah, I was a goofy kid and I was nervous as heck. (Blue)

    The reds are actually dedicated to investigating/punishing misuse of the one power among both sexes. Since the breaking they have primarily focused on men for obvious reasons, but are still usually the ones tasked with investigating other Aes-Sedai and female channelers outside the tower. This also explains why they don't bond warders. It's not so much that they hate men (although many of them do), but more because in a fight with another power user, warders are worthless and a major liability.
    They are also the most active in seeking new recruits for the tower, which is one of the reasons why they are by far the biggest ajah in the books; and why Moiraine (blue) bringing in Nynaeve and Egwene is such a big deal.

    • @j-jackquinn5540
      @j-jackquinn5540 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      and also shows why blue is so small because neither of those 2 even chose blue, (Queue actual spoilers) in my opinion Egwene would definitely have made a better blue than green which she had planned to become

      Holy shit, that explains way better the headbutting between them and the Blues. The obvious reason (different view on stilling channeler men) always seemed a bit lackluster for me, and their rivalry had always been portrayed as something very deep and even historical.
      They are basically the police force against the blue ajah political activists :D It is so much clearer now :D

    • @Devin_Stromgren
      @Devin_Stromgren ปีที่แล้ว

      The Red don't officially hate men no, but if a woman becomes Aeis Sedai and ALREADY hates men, which Ajah do you think she's most likely going to choose? And then this would foster a culture of man-hating within the Reds in a sort of feedback loop.

  • @paulvmarks

    When I did the test I came out as Blue Ajah - although with Brown Ajah in a strong second place. The interesting thing is that I would interpret the word "justice" is having a very different meaning to what the "activists" believe this concept to mean. But then there is always the "Blue on Blue" (really Blue against Blue) type conflict.

    I got Yellow with Brown at 2nd place. I always thought Yellow would be one of the most useful ones whilst reading the books, especially from living in that kind of dangerous world. If you're able to master healing to the point where you become so adept at it you can basically heal yourself as fast as Wolverine does, you'd be almost unstoppable and it would make it a lot harder for people to take you down. In this case however it's all through sheer practice, adeptness and skill from years of training making it a conscious thing.

      considering how many people don't really appreciate the hard work of people in medicine in our current day and age, I am not surprised to see Yellow further down the list. Red is just... the obvious choice for people who just search for a purpose and a direct impact on the world (which are probably things many Accepted strive for when they choose), Green is kind of similar but less "I want to do good now" and more "I want to be ready when I need it".... Gray is the same again but in a "want influence on the whole picture" way. Brown is all the bookish kids.
      For Yellow, I suppose you'd need quite a bit of willingness to help others and a tough stomach and resilience. Being a doctor is mentally and physically exhausting and you don't even save the world in return for that work...
      And that Blue and White are the two least popular Ajahs is not surprising at all... White is just a bunch of philosophy nerds nerding out and Blues are the kids who would go organize protests and those are pretty rare, too...

If that all goes down as expected, we know from Moiraine that she will not be able to heal him, and we'll likely see the Yellows really do their thing. Also, even in the books Moiraine was an unusually talented healer, for a Blue. I have always had this feeling that Jordan made from Red Ajah something similar to Slytherin. In a sense that if a person is Red, than she is 100% evil. Daniel compared Reds to hunters, I'd say police or Red Cross would be even better comparison. And after all, would anyone of us want to live close to a person, who with 100% probability will soon go mad, became super strong and most probably start hurting others? No, most probably we will try to get this person placed in some kind of a safe environment, away from us. And yeah, medicine will be bitter, any might have very unpleasant consequences, but this is the question of one person suffering versus many people.
    I also don't think all Reds would choose to go without Warden, after all, their chosen specialty is a dangerous one, and they are actually the ones working with most danger on a day-to-day basis. So yeah, this is totally on Jordan. I actually really like how in show they at least a bit tried to humanize Reds, for example with Liandrin back story.

    • @Devin_Stromgren

      The lack of Warders is a Ajah culture thing. The Red don't officially hate men, but if a woman becomes Aeis Sedai and ALREADY hates men, which Ajah do you think she's most likely going to choose? And then this would foster a culture of man-hating within the Reds in a sort of feedback loop, to the point where the Reds who don't hate men would be ostracized within their own Ajah for taking a warder.

    My impression of the Blue Ajah was always that their primary purpose was to gather information for the tower. They seemed to have the biggest network of informants and spies.

    I got Blue Ajah, with Grey and Brown a bit behind practically tied for a 2nd. That honestly fits me fairly well.

    I am a blue. Not too surprising. Thanks Daniel for the fun video and quiz!

    Thank you for your wonderful breakdown of the Ajah's. Like you I am a fellow yellow sister with a leaning towards the blue, which for me makes sense. Which secondary do you lean towards.?

    Thanks for this video - much more coherent explanations than mine, you helped my husband, who is watching the show with me without having read the books, a lot! :)
    I got brown with 89%, closely followed by blue, then grey, then yellow... Well, I'm a scientist and a nerd, so it fits :D

    Blue! With leanings toward Grey. Very interesting, but fitting. Blue is my favorite color after all lol

    I got the Brown Ajah, followed closely by Blue and then White. That fits me rather well!

    If I remember right, it's also the task of the Blue Ajah to seek out young girls who can channel, and bring them to the White Tower.
    But it's been quite a few years since I read the books, so I might be wrong about that.

    I’m 🔵 with a close ⚪️ and 🟢. I read most of the series in college and never finished it. I’ve stated EofW again and am enjoying it.

    I got White Ajah and Yellow was a very close runner-up. It's actually exactly what I expected to get
