You might hate yourself but I appreciate you because who else is crazy enough to buy all this ancient and unreliable (but cool and interesting) radio gear
Glad to hear y'all are on real radios lol Soooo Opensky 1 was 4 slot, however to increase voice quality Opensky2 bumped it down to 2 slot. SOI is kinda strange as it technically is 4 slot, but only uses 3, two for voice, one for control msgs
The moment you realize why your WHOLE FRICKING state (I live in PA) ran that system. Oh my no wonder why all the state police people I was talking to about radios where happy about motorola.
My county... Oakland County, Michigan... used OpenSkam from 2010 until just last year or so. Good riddance, but P25 Phase II w/encryption isn't really much different to the casual scanner/resident like me.

Can confirm the unreliable part... Not with this kit, it's been pretty good.. but I have access to a real Opensky TRS, it's.... Less then ideal
I love these unique out of the “mainstream” radios you come up with…always enjoy watching these
Mainstream is boring
Keying all those radios with one hand was pretty funny.
I need to just get a strap to hold the damn camera. Sometimes I need two hands lmao
Opensky is a 4 slot digital system, we removed the last of the Opensky in Reno about 5 years ago.

would be nice if there was an 800mhz ham band for used public safety equipment, even if it was only a couple mhz wide
Ikr. Like, give us a 3 MHz block as Secondary users
we have some 900mhz space that's close enough
@@ScuffedRadio the problem is, most radios cannot be band expanded into that range without significant hardware and software modifications
Yea sadly for 800mhz gear, if it doesn't start with an 8 it's a no go
@@adryd No I mean it's a difference of 100mhz just use 900mhz stuff
it sounds like my microwave when trying to get the setting to work
I'm pretty sure these radios have a popcorn setting.... Might need to look into it
"Key with foot" 🤣
MR Foot is good at what he does

I'd like to thank PA for making my shenanigans possible. Everything I've got for Opensky is cheap stock from the failed StarNet system lmao
@@anongator I know its very cheap, I want to see if I can get a freebe from a friend.
Just need a couple friends now. I feel your pain
If it makes you feel any better, I hate you too for this 😂
CLASSIC!😂
Makes me want to dig out my VSELP Astro Sabers
Cool stuff. Ima follow you for sure 👍
My lord just update the Anytone uv 878 firmware that came out recently and join the party
Ewww, I don't do ham stuff lmao
I thought open sky was a cellular thing
It's another trunk mode. So it's got sites, it just so happens that you can use a vehicular repeater to make your own off network site lmao
@@anongator was it 800 only or what?
@Rockymtprep 800/900
Yup, it was originally designed for packet data and is based on the CDPD air interface. It's almost like the private LTE we have today.

Two of my units are from there. The rest are all PA StarNet
@@anongatordude they is so cool I got a encrypted radio but more sophisticated one :)
Why would you do this to yourself?
Some people prefer to cut themselves when they get depressed, I prefer to expose myself to opensky
