I love Joe, total fan! But, he makes me happy that I'm a thrash punk-metal guy... everything up, and GO!! Holy sh!t he's particular... and well, he should be for the amazing stuff he does! Oh, and my fave amp? Marshall Silver Jubilee re-issue. Monster! Cheers everybody!
I'm not even that familiar with his work but I love the jsx AKA 333xl so I probably love the jvmjs because it could sing. That's the thing about the jsx it can really sing. Most amps just crunch.
Maybe for completion sake, but the JVM is there, so you're covered. Remember that Joe used the clean channel on the JSX and pedals, he's admitted this many times. The Amber channel was from a Peavey Classic 50 (which he did record some stuff with, apparently) and the Ultra was based on the Crunch channel of the XXX. And Joe never used that channel, it was marketing for the consumers who wanted that high gain. So what you hear on old Joe records is the clean channel on a JSX with pedals. And the great thing is that the JVM Clean Green channel is identical, IDENTICAL to the JSX Clean. All the headroom, everything. Incredible pedal platform, just like Joe wanted. If you want those other two channels from JSX, you can find then modelled elsewhere. Having them here in AmpliTube would have been redundant (for the cleans) and unneccessary (the other two channels he barely/never used).
@@philfrank5601 Can't really say I ever read him admitting on using a DS-1 on the clean. By the way, he could've used it as a boost and nothing more. If you have a gig video with the JSX and it can show, him playing rythm or lead on the clean channel, it could prove it. But I haven't seen it. AND I've noticed the schematic on the JSX, not really based on the classic 50 everywhere and the crunch and ultra channel of the XXX are the same pretty much...they differe in some values but it is the same channel, it doesn't not add gain stages. Same for the JSX. You can mod a JSX to an XXX and vice versa. The XXX/JSX are great amps. For my the usual JVM is the real asshole lol, never liked it, never liked a big band that used them live and I watched in the audience and it was the same problem. Rumor, again, has it that Satriani did require a lot of changes for the JVM, decompressing the amp and lowering the gain etc.
@@ikmultimedia I love that Rockman "cryin'" sound, some kind of "out of phase", you know, something similar to a mid opened wahwah, "a la Brian May", very "singing sound"...Maybe live it's a sound without presence enough, and that's why Satriani used Marshall?
As a Rockman fan myself, I’d probably suspect it wasn’t aggressive enough a distortion for live purposes, and live, he obviously was the only guitarist, so he likely needed to fill the sound out more with a raunchier distortion, which we know he usually did with a Marshall/Boss DS-1. I think that part of the appeal of the Rockman sound was its consonant, ‘easy on the ears’ overdrive voicing, which probably is why it was featured on so many pop and rock records, and which also drew a lot of detractors. And the headphone amp version wasn’t really tweak-able, which would’ve required Joe going down that modular amp/full range system rabbit hole one had to go down if they wanted that sound with ability to adjust in a live setting. That’s my speculation, anyway.
You could go straight to AmpliTube 5 which is on pre-order (and special introductory pricing) as that is set to release soon www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube5/
I had one here for a month. Stellar tones. And lots of em'. Also 80lbs i estimate
Wow he seems like such a genuinely nice guy!
I have one of those JV410HJS amps. It really is a great and diverse amp.
Love the new addition to the Amplitube family. I love having a new set of tools to create with.
Yes! Been waiting for this interview! This collection is awesome! Thanks IK and Joe!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!

That is a great amp. The JVM410HJS will do that.....AND a whole lot more. I LOVE mine.😁

It kills me that you didnt also model the Peavey JSX

Hell I’d be happy if he would just comment on it at all at that point!
And the digitech rack harmoniser for ‘why?’
His JSX was the clean channel with a Boss DS-1 back in the day.
I waited 25 yrs for this... check my video for a demo 🤘😄
Just checked it out! Sounds great. Excellent work man. I'll pass it over to the team 🤘 Remember to use #IKCreator to get featured on the IK site.
ikmultimedia thank you! Glad you liked it 🙏 keep up the good work you guys!
Never understood why Joe never used Rockman gear live, actually that Rockman sound was usual in his first records and gave him that "melody sound"
I used to use a Rockman out to two amps in a great stereo setup. In middle school before I got my late-80s JCM800 but still. It was great.
