AFTER OWNING OTHER TOP LINE MARSHALLS THIS IS BEYOND A DOUBT THE KING OF ALL MARSHALLS. BRAVO TONY MY FRIEND ONCE AGAIN GREAT JOB AS USUAL, I AM GLAD YOU MADE THE STATEMENT ABOUT THE 410 H APPLES AND ORANGES.
Well in my experience they are very different. I owned 2 or 3 410H and this is my second 410HJS. So different... and I think that Joe Satriani really did put lots of input to this amp and Marshall delivered... they are pretty rare really - made about 2014 so 10th Anniversary coming up. I'll be keeping this one... whether tube amps come or go, there really is little around that covers near enough every angle of tone like the 410HJS does. Thanks for the post... and if you have one hang on to it! Thanks for watching...
Great to know. It was brilliant then, and its still brilliant now :) Hang on to it (I think most do) great amps... they should have designed the external a little differently (I don't mind it myself) and it would stand head and shoulders above many amps... so versatile really and even with midi :). Thanks for the kind words and for watching.
I saw that from the Ozzy. Well Marshall is subscribed to my channel and maybe they will comment? Who knows, but I wish they would. Personally, I remain a little unconvinced that Marshall would release a product with that hum (as they showed) as historically that certainly would not be. Let's keep our eyes on that aspect and see what transpires - I doubt it will remain as a problem. Good point (not applicable of course to this amp) and thanks for watching.
The HJS is a fantastic amplifier, though I personally think the YJM100 (I still have mine) is the best amp they've ever made, right along with the 2203 :) Happy to see you still active on TH-cam and continuing to deliver unbiased reviews one can trust. Merry Christmas to you! :)
@BudMoves - hey long time no see :) but great to hear you... and I trust you're OK there. The YJM100 is a really great amp. Like the HJS that's a monster too and I like the features on that amp also. Yes have a great Christmas too BM and sincerely nice to see you on here...
Great video Tony. I think Joe had a lot to say about this amp. We all enjoy these honest reviews. Can't wait to see the next couple of video's. All my best from the Lake District 😎😎😎😎😎😎🎶🎶🎶🎶
I think Joe did too. Comparing the 410H and the 410HJS they are just so different. I'm currently messing about with Guitar Synthesizers and pickups etc. which is interesting because they have moved on somewhat. Historically in 2006 I used a guitar synth for a Saxophone on a track and it was brilliant I have to say, but having said that the other stuff on that guitar synth were not that good. Later I used that same synth for a few tracks sort of strings and that sort of thing, but looking at this stuff now I can see the potential for sure. Those reviews should be interesting to some, maybe not all, but if viewers have an 'open mind' to the synths then they can absolutely be worth a look. I'm not perfect, I get things wrong (but at least I try hard) but try and show the gear just like a regular guy that I am... most buyers are not perfect and the reviews I guess would be a general reflection of what most users might experience, with a bit of other things that no-one ever shows. In any case thanks... and thanks for watching too.
@@tonymckenzieofficial looking forward to see what you think of the Synth Units. I have both but have used them l bit more at the moment. I try and create guitar synth soundscapes on the Headrush, Boss and now Fender Tone Master Pro which do sound pretty good and but the latest Boss unit is really good and I'm using this a lot at the moment and will have some video's out in the new year. Great stuff 🎶🎶🎶🎶👍👍😎😎😎😎
Oh I'm not really what I used to be - gets harder as you get older for sure. Occasionally if the brains in the right place then I can play as I used to, but its really getting that inspiration... and tube amps certainly can do that. Thanks for the kind words and for watching.
Well you should try and at least have a go. Most guys think they are pretty much the same, but there are some major differences IMO and the HJS really is exceptionally versatile too. Many guys love the 410H and my video is not aimed at knocking those. For me the 410H I never really got what I wanted and when the HJS came along it was immediately obvious that those were quite different. The thing is, of course, its what works for the player - something some forget, and the right amp can be a wonderfully inspiring thing for sure. Thanks for the post... and have a great Christmas...
Hello Tony. Fantastic review, you really do your research on your products. Also wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Signed John Zepbass Gregory from Munster Indiana. U.S.A. ( Bass Player).
Hi John... great to hear you and yes I hope you have a great break and Christmas etc. - hey is it warm or cold in Indiana? My guess is its cold? :) Regards...and thanks for watching.
You know what Tony you’re a fucking bad ass. I used to own the original JVM as well, and I could not get along with it. I bought a noise gate the best on the market, and it just wasn’t gonna work because unlike the HJS, which has independent noise gates for each channel one noise gate on a JVM just didn’t work, because if you play with any dynamics and change channels, one setting on the noise gate is not gonna work for the other channels. I have to take exception with your comment about the weight of the amp. It’s fucking heavy and if you do gig like I do, it’s not something you want to carry all the time especially when you take it out of your basement studio. I’m hoping somehow with the resurgence and new ownership that maybe they’ll make, an HJS mini but probably not gonna happen, but integrated noise gates on an amp are the best noise gates, especially when you have one for each channel. Joe Satriani was onto something here when he did this ,you don’t need Reverb on each channel that’s a waste of space. Anyway, great fucking video man keep them coming. One last thing. I would’ve liked if you would’ve explained what the choke actually does for the people that are not familiar. It filters, unwanted and noise from the AC current. One last thing, I changed my power tubes from EL34’s to 5881’s. What a sound. I biased it accordingly. Mods In the spirit of EVH!!Santiago Alvarez from Marshall did a great job designing this amp to Joe’s specs. Peace from Indiana
@markspinner2402 Ha I agree it's heavy! (I was making banter really for the video :) You know what - I sincerely wish they would make a HJS mini - it would sell for sure. Mark these are all great comments you made and I agree with you - and great that you went to spend the time on a post like this one. No doubt you get it... if they had designed this amp to look differently then the HJS I believe would literally be legendary, but many don't see its actually a different amp, which is a pity. Oh Santiago is a very nice guy and back around the AFD and YJM100 I spoke with him for bits of info - very helpful he was. He left Marshall but I believe he's back there now... maybe. I hope Marshall amps continue to make some really great amps and the demand remains for them - in my experience they have always been a very good company and one that actually was and is very friendly too. Hey thanks for the kind words... those are appreciated. And of course thanks for watching.
My favourite channels with respect to guitar on TH-cam has young men (like myself) with grey hair; simply those they have Rock'n'Roll at heart. Great review and it is always good to see you back young man, keep it rollin'
Thanks for the kind words. Ha I have been on here since 2009 and made 425 videos covering 10 million views. Man its been a long hard road. Age is in your mind I guess and as I work (still - but because I want to) in technology in real life, I love tinkering with this stuff. Even the 'simulators' that I often harp on about and their effects... are in their own way interesting and hard to ignore these days. It's physically harder as you get older but when I get a piece of gear that really is new and inspiring I tend to play better :) It's all relative of course, but I try and offer a real world view of the gear and experiences I have had with music gear. I survived prostate cancer from 10 years ago and have had other health stuff going on, but here I am, still making this stuff... Ha my hair is now pink :) with a bit of grey too :). In any case... great to hear you... and thanks for watching this stuff... it IS appreciated.
A Marshall that sounds good played clean, that has to be a rare beast. To my ears the clean tones still had a slight edge to them, but audio on TH-cam never sounds as good as hearing an amp live. I owned a JTM 60 and wondered why i was unable to get the clean tone that i craved for, once i tried a well used but still working Vox AC30 i wanted one, so the Marshall went. I still have the AC30 that i rebulit and cured all the know weakspots on and will never sell it. Great amps and guitars take years to find, but once you find the perfect combination you just want to keep on playing them. Hope you are keeping well Tony, and have a Great Chistmas and New Year.
Honestly, its THE cleanest Marshall amp I have ever heard - and it could have been a bit cleaner - but you know me... ha always on 10 :). Well the AC30's are great amps - seemingly many models and I don't know them well though. So the JVM410HJS Satch head I honestly think JS REALLY wanted a true clean - he plays so many styles of music. I sold one of these (silly me) but grabbed another some years later (probably 2018/19 or something) and intend to keep it. Really hard to find in good condition. Yes I'm settled back now and making videos (they take so long) next will be Guitar Synthesizer which has moved on in leaps and bounds. Yes you too have a great Christmas etc. too...
Tony - Excellent revisit to the Marshall JVM410HJS. My favorite review videos from your channel were always your original JVM410HJS video as well as your reviews of the Mesa Boogie Road King II and the Diezel Herbert. Might have to watch all three over again now! Many Thanks.
Tube amp with the tube sockets attached to a pc board!? This is a big no, no. The best Marshall ever build is an old school JTM 45 with two KT66 power tubes from late sixties. Simple but perfect amp. period.
I can't disagree that the JTM45 is a brilliant amp of course. But remember this design does NOT have the tubes facing down (a really bad thing - remember the Peavey Mace? 160w of pure hell then later sawdust) and I do think the tube bases are not problematic at least from all the amps I have seen. Of course some are though... thanks for watching.
My 2 JVM'S sound awesome! The trick is from the OD green on back. You use a BOSS SD-1 as a clean boost. For the od orange and red NO boost! Also understanding. That the channel volume and master volumes. Push the power amp and preamp tubes. This means you can get power tube saturation at a very low volume. If you crank the channel volume very loud you cannot crank the master.
Thanks for these tips... always useful especially if you post on here for others too so appreciated. A very good amp for sure... and thanks for watching.
Right on! and really great to hear. Only more recently have those 'reviewers' swung around to the 410HJS and 'decided' its good, and to be honest in a way that is surprising. From day 1 I found the HJS as right up there in the Marshall stack :) Thanks for watching.
I really tried with the 410H but it was a bit different and I never really made it work for my music as others do. Hence this one I like. Thanks and also thanks for watching too.
I bought one of these on your recommendation Tony about 9 years ago. It became my number touring amp. I still use it to this day as my number one. In fact, I was so impressed I bought a second one as a backup. I got the very last one off the production line. You’re going to part with over £2k for one now….if you can find one!
Exactly. I also think its one of the most flexible Marshall amps there is, indeed one of the most flexible amps period! Glad I did not let you down at the time :) and thanks for watching.
I have had 2 or 3 410H amps and did lots to them. I even fitted a 'choke' but to be honest it was not worth the effort as I heard little difference. Not hard to do, but no real change. I have reviews on my website of the 410H here: tonymckenzie.com/marshall_jvm410h_review.htm that you might find interesting... and of the HJS here: tonymckenzie.com/marshall-jvm410hjs-satriani-review.htm and both reviews unbiased etc. My view might have changed a little since those days, but probably not by much and its an interesting subject comparing the two. If you find a HJS my advice is to grab it... Thanks for the post - interesting stuff and thanks for watching.
I really like my 410H but never had a chance to buy or try the Satriani model. I would never sell mine, but I would buy the Satriani model if it was ever released again. I am wondering if Marshall will ever make another all-in-one premium tube amp again. I would buy one even though I never carry around a heavy amp anymore in my older age or play big events. I have had a Marshall SV20 and 212 cabinet on backorder since November here in the States. I have other smaller amps and am new to the FX/ amp modeling scene. I have a HeadRush MX5 as my first unit last year but will probably upgrade soon. Especially after watching some of your reviews. Keep up the good reviews. PS. It did take me a long and sometimes frustrating time to master the 410H. Over a year and many hours but it can be mastered enough to really enjoy it IMO.
You know what, I really like Marshall Amps and the company has always been helpful. Currently from my position here in the UK I honestly don't know what Marshall will release (if anything!) as we move forward. I sincerely hope they do. I could imagine the 410 HJS in the 20w Studio format and I'm sure it would sell so many. I visited Marshall a year ago and spoke with Terry Marshall at the time and he assured me that Marshall would still carry on with the amps... but other than the Studio JTM I have seen really nothing. For me its very sad to see. I had two 410H amps and never really got it where I wanted it, but the HJS was honestly instant. Glad my reviews help at least a little and I always think that someone that makes informed decisions is far less likely to make a mistake. We have all bought something that was not what we thought... me included. :) Thanks for watching - appreciated.
@@tonymckenzieofficial I agree, a 410 HJS in a 20w Studio format would be a great idea and I would definitely purchase one. All of the big retailers Sweetwater, Sam Ash, Guitar Center) here in the USA just started a large sale on all Marshall equipment with drastic price cuts. The strange this is that none of these retailers have most of the Marshall items in stock and everything is on backorder. Unless Marshall is planning to import mass quantities of equipment to the USA, this large Marshall sale is worthless. I have had a Marshall SV20 head, SV212 cabinet and ST212 cabinet on backorder from Sam Ash since November 2023 when the last Marshall sale was happening. It will be interesting to see how this all works out and if Marshall is still supplying USA retailers with the equipment. I will be ordering/backordering another Marshall amp but haven't decided which one yet. Another 100-watt tube or another Studio. Hmmmmm, wonder what Tony would pick?
100 000 knobs! My Selmer amps has Volume, Bass, Treble. A '68 Strat, a Binson echorec, and a Mudhoney overdrive. That's all the sound I need, and it's awesome!
Well the knobs really are one set per channel. That removes the majority of them and other than that, well noise gate, and a few extra that enhance the tone and there you have it. I know what you mean of course, but if you used one then you might have a change of mind. Thanks for the post and for watching....
5:03 00067 is JJ sourced selected for resistance to microphonics (short plates) 5:21 00055 is Shuguang long plates (high gain!) I always replace the 00055's with JJ ECC803s's for less gain and more low end detail - your mileage may vary .....
I can't be sure about the JJ or other selection myself, but thanks for the info as that is very useful and something I never went and tried to find out more about - you saved me some work :) Appreciated. Thanks for watching too.
Great video about a great amplifier and I can't believe some of the ridiculous comments. I have played through just about everything and I have always stuck with Marshall amplifiers . I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Marshall years ago and he was an amazing guy.
Oh it does not take long to get those sort of comments... Just tell things the way they are... and hey presto... This amp really is the most flexible and great sounding amp I said (and many agree - especially owners of them) but of course you will also get comments from fans of other companies where the amps are basically Marshall amps and the companies 'try to make the Marshall designs better'; a sort of futile thing really. :) Yes I met Mr Marshall too years ago, and the team down in Milton Keynes are all very nice people too. Check my Marshall factory visits out on my channel... and thanks for watching.
You said at 8:04 in the video that you can't buy these new anymore. Were you just talking about replacement circuit boards? Or buying a new JVM410H in general?
I was commenting that the JVM410HJS is not available any more :( and stopped being made some years back. The JVM410H is still available of course. Thanks for watching.
I've been drawn to this amp, but having really bad reliability issues with my 6100LH I've ditched the idea of building my tones around multichannel/featured amps. So now i happily rock a 1987X and good pedals to give me the gains. My latest adventure is using an NU-X Amp Academy to run the output stage of the 1987X and it is VERY good, total volume control and a good Di. option!!! I was raised on a Super Bass mk. 2 so I favor the big punchy cleans before any gain.
Thanks. And I did fit a choke to my 410H stuff. It did not really change much so if you want to have a go at that I would recommend don't bother... thanks for watching...
Yet another In Depth video on a killer amp Tony,I had a chance to buy one for 1500 but couldn’t squeeze out the money at the time I wish I had bought it because it’s one of the best sounding amps I’ve ever played through. And it’s built like a Tank I don’t understand all the hate for Marshall amps lately to me there o e of the best amps made especially the made in UK ones.
Watch for another one you would not be disappointed, even in these days of 'simulators' (that are often hyped as something better than the reality of things). The way I think of Marshall, is this, (and some will disagree) that without Marshall and their 're-evaluation' of Fender amps at the time, there might even not have been so many other brands of since then and even today. I could name them, one brand after the other, all 'claiming' the Marshall crown under some other hyped name, when in reality, those circuits are just reworked Marshall amps. Your post made me think about the state of play if Marshall had never existed... I wonder how it would have all turned out? A very good post and thanks for watching.
In my 30+ years of playing guitar I have owned just about all the major brands and some very good off brands when it comes to amplifiers. I still feel Marshalls are overall the best as far as quality and the ability to play different styles of music and sound good. Overall I feel they are still the best.
Me too, although I really don't know today where they will end up with Chinese investors maybe driving the ship. Get the Marshal UK made amps while you can ;-) and thanks for watching....
Fascinating. May not be a lightweight but it's still less than most combos. If I had one it would never move anyway. One Tony to another, thanks for the review.
Jvm is a cool amp. The best is personal preference. I truly love the Jubilee. 1987x is a great amp. The HW 1959 SLP is a great amp. The 2203 is an awesome amp.
Ha I agree... stop it ;) I bought a 1987x recently reviewed (1996) and have a 1959HW, JTM45 and a few others ... they all have their place really but can be loud :). Thanks for watching too.
Hey Tony. I got my 410JHS in 2017 I think. And I can say the same as you do. This amp is something different and not really comparable to the regular 410H. I am very pleased with the tones it offers although I might mod either OD1 or OD2 to have a bit different gain structure - maybe. Anyway for me it is a keeper. Best regards from Denmark Keep Rockin' /Carsten
Exactly. I think the 410H 'look' never really helped this amp in the first place and my guess is that many take one look and don't go further and that's a shame. The HJS is IMO entirely a different beast as indeed you also confirm. Great amps and hang on to it... Thanks for the post Carsten and for watching.
I gotta say that the YJM100H, for me, is THE most versatile amp Marshall made. I regularly mix & match octal-based power valves and smile every time I power up with the autobias. Imagine tone-shaping with any combination of 6L6, EL34, 6550, 5881, 6CA7, KT66, KT88 and so on...
I get that! I reviewed the YJM100 also some years ago here: th-cam.com/video/--CSLX066J0/w-d-xo.html in case you never saw it. A very good amp but they seemed to have some issues re the power reduction from what I heard later. Thanks for watching.
You should sell them and 'cut the association' with those horrible tube amps :) (not). BTW its a JVM410H and a TSL100 - sometimes also called a 'JCM 2000'. Thanks and best of luck in Coocoo land where that 100w is akin to 20 in the real world... ;-) I'm surprised you have not sold them? Insurance? :) - Hey I'm just joking with all this... thanks for watching.
I have one of these, but just not in hand now. It belongs to my great guitar playing friend that will give all his gear to me if he dies, so I hope I don’t ever get it. We started ping guitar together in 1986 so we may both go at the same time. Luckily if I do get it, it won’t be all worn out as he isn’t even playing it. He bought a Quad Cortex and just uses that now. I think he fires up the JVM 410 H JS Marshall every once in awhile. I’m a fan of a lot of Marshalls though. I have a JMD:1 50 watt, 3310, 3210, 3203, Lead 12 mini stack, Zakk Wylde Mini Stack, 1987x, and some great tube preamps - JMP, Jubilee, JCM800, JTM45, 1959 SLP, JCM900 SL-X, Two Notes Revolt Tube (Plexi channel), AMT SS-20 (Plexi to JCM800 modded to JVM) that I use with an Axiom Effects PAE-1 pedal (PAE-1 stands for Power Amp Emulator - greatest analog emulator for the tube power amp sounds and full controls), and some jfet preamps - Origin Effects Revival Drive Hot Rod Edition, Sinvertek MGAT-1 hyper preamp (JTM45, 1959 SLP, 1987X, JCM800, and JVM sounds), Master Effects Martyr (OD1 and OD2 of a Marshall 8100), Bogner LaGrange (Plexi), Bogner Blue (I use in Plexi mode), Joyo British , Cmatmods Brownie, and a great Digital version of 68 Super Bass, 68 Super Lead, and a Brown model (variac’d at 90v 68 SL) in my new UAFX Lion 68 I run into power amps and real cabs. Plus two Mahaffay HiLo Watt Plexi heads (1/4 watt JMP tube amp with three gain stages going from normal gain to Bright, to Variac’d Brown Sound, then dummy load, insert style fx loop, then class A solid state 33 watt reamp built in), and a D.Kowalski Dark Gene (green version - 1/2 watt Baby Plexi up to JCM800 type sounds). You could maybe say I like the Marshall sounds. Just a little. Enjoyed the video and deep dive!
Ha brilliant post and I read every word! Clearly you have been around with all that stuff... and great to hear what you have been up to. The 410HJS are a little scarce from what I see these days and that's a bit sad really. Better than the visual equivalent and with tones for every style. Well, if you end up with the HJS I am sure that you will be pleased with it notwithstanding the demise of your friend. In any case sincerely thanks for watching.
My 1985 50 watt JCM800 is my favorite amplifier of the two amps I currently own. The other is a Mesa Mark IV. Depending on what the gig I take the amp that is appropriate. I usually take the Boogie for its flexibility. But if it's a raw rock n roll show the Marshall usually gets the gig.
My JVM410H is on the way. I have wanted that amp for so long. I had a DSL20 head. It started making weird noise within a couple of days. Sent it back. Thought I’d just go for the UK made Marshall. This is be my biggest guitar gear purchase ever. Pretty stoked. Which one is your most favourite tube amp, Tony? Tone wise and build quality wise. I trust your reviews.
Undoubtedly my fave amp for tones and the best build quality I have ever seen is Mezzabarba M Zero One I reviewed here: th-cam.com/video/C4WLh0vYaIs/w-d-xo.html and that amp really is what all others should try and emulate... but unlikely. The Mezzabarba has escalated in price since then and is now (approx) : $4000 - see it here: www.mezzabarba.com/mzero-overdrive/ and when you look inside with my review watch and you will see some of the best work there is! But hey the Marshall is great :) Thanks for watching.
@@wickedmetalhead I'm sorry that your DSL gave up on you. Did it atleast sound good while it worked? About the JVM, don't you feel a 100watt, arena ready amp is a bit overkill? I'm just assuming you play at home, based on the fact that the JVM410 is now replacing the DSL20, which is regarded as a "practice amp". Significantly quieter and lower in power.
@@rollingstart_90s Yes. The DSL sounded good when it worked. Also, you are right about the 100W amp being overkill for home playing.. but I have tried that JVM in a store and its master volumes are very useful in achieving lower volumes at home. Also, if it is still very loud for the home, I plan to get an attenuator somewhere down the line.
@@wickedmetalhead Oh! It is great to know that Marshall has managed to build a big 100W head, that can be adjusted for home use. Most big amps do not work well at a home setting, which is why I was a bit cautious. Based on your experience at your local store, it sounds like you most likely won't be needing an attenuator. I'm pretty sure you'll be very happy with the JVM. Great choice!
Yep, the color on the tube makes them better or worse. I see sounds in colors at times and even I dont believe that tube selling point😂 Love your channel Tony! Just dont fib about things, fiby mcgregor. Yeah, your right for thinking that.🤨🤣 Not that, thats uncalled for. Stop thinking about that, you🫵🏻. …….🤪🤣
Singular thing that makes tubes good? Simple: they test, and test, and select, and test and burn in... then what? you then have a good tube... I never saw another way to end up with generally brilliant tubes - TAD imo make the best for that, but man they cost... Thanks for watching.
Of course it is! Ain't that like 4-8 different Marshall amps in one? Like, the 9000 & JTM45 cleans, 1987 & 2204 crunch, JCM 800 2205 and Silver Jubilee gain channels, JCM 900 and JCM 2000 lead, and ultimately, the AVM and JVM hi gain tones?
I'm still looking for the JCM900 in there, but how I see it, is that if this amp is good enough for Joe Satriani, then its good enough for me. That says everything really... thanks for watching.
Well I couldn't agree with you more. I largely ignored this amp because I thought I'd never get to see one and if I did, I wouldn't be able to afford it, so out of sight out of mind. THEN, my favorite junk shop just had it sitting there all pristine and wondering where I've been all this time, ha! This amp is mind-bendingly great. I still love my Fender '65 reissues, but if I were to be told I could only have 1 amp, this would be it. I do note that it is a bit of a pain to find replacement footswitches. The amp is totally clean, but it looks like someone dragged my footswitch behind a car. It looks identical to the one that comes with the JVM410, do you happen to know if it is? I'd like a newer one should this give up the ghost. Anyway, good video, and I wish I'd just bit the bullet and bought this thing a decade ago and been done with it. You just never know what you'll find at Atomic Music . If you value not being broke, it's best to avoid the place altogether . Hope you have fun places like that near you too. Cheers.
Great story... and I sold my first one but realized later to buy another. A brilliant all round amp no doubt. The pedal might well work on the HJS from the 410H although I have not tried it. ANYONE OUT THERE TRIED IT? POST HERE. Thanks for the great post and also for watching.... just a brilliant amp.
@@BlueSkiesBlackDeath I really enjoy Atomic Music and have bought numerous things from them. Its used stuff of course and I live close enough to see things first hand, which is quite helpful. I wouldn't shy away from reverb buying from them.
@@twlowe19 ok yeah I’ve bought from them too and there’s a guitar I want but I’m kinda of on the fence about this one not being able to see it in person since I live in Michigan.
I would like you to know how much I appreciate videos like this one! It's really really interesting. I'd like to have your opinion: what would be a fair price for this amp on the used music market? I would like to buy one but I have no clue about the price for an amp like this in very good condition.
Well they tend to come and go at varying prices depending on the country... in the USA the Marshall gear (all Marshall gear) costs more. In the UK I would expect the JVM410HJS to sell between about £1200 and as much as over £2000 depending on the overall condition AND the fact that its long discontinued... it could, if someone really wanted on sell even higher. That's just an opinion of course... Thanks for watching.
I do too - I have never had any issues with Marshall amps since the TSL100. I replaced the board with current made board and it has also been pretty flawless really. Thanks for watching.
Hey great to hear you. Man that Hagen is a really excellent amp and I was (an am) still grateful that you sold it to me. It has a VERY great rock/metal tone and I keep the Diezel Hagen exactly for that stuff. I thought for the HJS that I would show it at a ten year Anniversary - as it looks like a 410H my guess is that many get 'confused' about the HJS, but once you try one... a different story. In any case, hope you're doing OK there... and sincerely, good to hear you... Thanks for watching.
Never had a fault with the two I had... it can happen I agree and awkward to fix, but STILL a great sounding and versatile amp. Thanks for the post and for watching.
Wow, a "best Marshall" video/article/rant/treatise that isnt about the Silver Jubilee? Kudos sir, a thousand times over! Also my guess, with EL34s being such a workhorse power toob, is that 15 02 = week 15 of 2002.
The date IS possible I guess... but the amp was made in 2014... so out of sync really for 2002 maybe? Maybe Marshall stacked up the tubes in buying... who knows :) and hey thanks for watching.
@@TheBoss0Time I didn’t say they are not “reliable”. If reliability is the issue, then certainly all solid state is the most reliable. But for sentimental value, and the fun of working on them, a real tube amp means point-to-point wiring. Anything less is a toy! For my own playing, my 100 watt RMS, solid state Hartke does the job, maintenance free.
@user-qm7nw7vd5s Does it REALLY make that difference? I had a tube amp with NO types of boards in there at all! The difference? Yep a nightmare to solve issues on. Personally I use both types of amps PCB and turret and while I agree some pcb's can be bad designs, generally I don't see trouble on either. But I'm sure its possible. The 1959HW is a nice layout that I liked, but it's a single sided board and that in Marshall amps can have its issues if not handled correctly when changing components... Thanks for watching.
It depends on the quality of the board. Some are good, some are not so good. When it comes time to replace components on a PCB board, you should have good soldering skills. Hand-wired are usually easier to work on, and time is money.
It was a masterpiece but designed with the dreaded 75 watt Celestions which allows you to hear each mode as it was meant to. Other speakers will either make or break each mode. The speaker mix that came in the 2x12 combo sounded even better IMO, more vintage-y, less modern.
@ericandrews1661 I just remember Greenbacks gave the mid-gain crunch section really authentic 70's/80's tones but ruined the clean and high gain modes. V30's made all the modes sound like, well, V30's.
Silver Jubilee reissue is made from what I saw when I reviewed it to the highest standard of quality too. Thanks for the kind words. Some think I'm Satriani and complain when I can't do that... oh well. Thanks fore watching. If only they realized how long these take to make...
I have :) I had one a while back. Purple levant. Yes a good amp, but for me I often need more drive than the Vintage/Modern offered me, hence this one... I'm sure we all have our 'fave' amps whether Marshall or other brands, but this one I do rate in the top three amps I own. Thanks for watching and have a great new year...
Hi Tony, Merry Christmas! I love the sound of the old Marshalls. I purchased a Two Rock for my clean tones and a pedal platform, when I went looking for an amp with a nice gain none of the Marshall's really made me want to go in that direction sadly. Long story short, I finally decided on a Friedman Dirty Shirley and I absolutely love it, no regrets. Anyhows, thanks for the feeds man :)
Yes and have a great Christmas and new year! Two-rock amps are a little like Rolls Royce's :) A bit expensive but I guess you get what you pay for (well I know you do). Friedman make some good amps, and the underlying designs are really like (just an opinion) Marshall amps but enhanced much further. In any case thanks for visiting... appreciated.
Hey Tony, just got one 2 days ago 😃 I have to replace Power tubes, as in the amp are still the original ones. I would like to change them "just in case" 👍🏻 What tubes would you reccomend? Thanks Tony
Tubes seem all over the place these days. The commonest brand is JJ (probably put most out of business by now :( But if EL34 I would look at these: www.tubeampdoctor.com/en/tad-el34-str-redbase-tad-premium-selected be warned they are NOT cheap. But as premium matched tubes they will be great and extremely unlikely that there will be ANY issues. This is what they said: The new TAD EL34-STR REDBASE™ developed completely from scratch! Yet, the results are phenomenal. In the tradition of the legendary Telefunken EL34, the TAD EL34-STR REDBASE™ provides a gorgeous, dynamic and amazingly open in-yer-face tone with just the right amount of angriness. Expect a clear, harmonic and open top end, a lovely spot-on mid range, with vocal low-mids and a great bass response as you would expect it from a TAD EL34. Extra rugged glass envelope, golden control grid wire, two especially large cooling grids and special high-precision construction with smallest tolerances guarantee for maximum stability and reliability.. The TAD EL34-STR REDBASE™ differs from other EL34 tubes in particular also by the extreme quality control in the production and the special formatting of the tubes by TAD in Germany before the actual matching. I would buy those myself! I've never had a single TAD tube issue ever. And that says a lot. If not those there are even others on the TAD site. Hope it helps. And thanks for watching. I trust that amp you will love - and keep it a very long time.
I remember your first review of the original 410H. You hated that one , so I don't understand why you bought another of those later on 😁...Never tried out the Satriani version. I had an original 410H as well and like you at the time I preferred the TSL 100 over it. I had my amp tech take care of the incredible hiss but eventually sold it 12 years later on. Sure, the TSL 100 had some things I didn't like and it was very prone to overheating and the bias kept drifting but I always liked the basic tones more than those of the 410H. At one time I had 3 TSL's just because they weren't that reliable. A few years I sold all my Marshalls except one (modded 1959 SLP). I've had a 2203, 2204, an original '78 Jubilee, a 900SL-X, an 800 KK, 3 of those TSL 100's, a 410H and an old '75 1959 SLP but the Marshall I used for the longest time was my first TSL 100 from 1998 (it also was my best sounding of the 3 eventhough they all had the same tubes). Currently I only own 3 heads now : ENGL Blackmore, Friedman BE 100 Deluxe (which you probably hate 😆), my modded Marshall 1959 SLP and a Neural DSP Quad Cortex. But what I wanted to say was that people kept telling me to buy that HJS when I was in the market for a new amp but I never saw one at the time . Then a second hand Friedman came up in my area and I went for that one.
Ha you're right. I sold it, had the Satch amp later, and then thought of trying to improve the 410h from seeing inside the Satch amp. Ha I failed :) The 410HJS is literally worlds apart from the 410H. Just trust me on that. The TSL100 is als an awesome amp - many hate it because of the bed design board prior to issue 20 (most of the ones out there are needing a replacement board from what I see). But I made my 'Eniac' album on the TSL100 and the recorded tones were excellent for track 'Metropolis' and 'Lightpipe AI' and some of the others like 'Taste the Rainbow'. The TSL ruled the earth :). Man you've been around the Marshalls like me. Well honestly I take 'Friedman' as I find them. I tried one, but failed because it was not what it should have been by far, and if something like that happens to me personally I am a bit careful - especially at that money here in the UK. I owned an Engl E670 which was/is a brilliant amp and I sold it but should have kept that one. I have a 1959HW which I like also and the 1959 style amps absolutely have that original sound... re toppy but so obviously Marshall. I never bought the Quad Cortex, and although I have looked at so many simulators while they are interesting I prefer the amps as they 'feel' different really to me. Ha find a HJS - even just play one spend a bit of time with it and I'm sure you would like it. You obviously like the Marshall style of stuff. And hey, I STILL have my TSL100 :) but with rev 20 board and its perfect. Thanks Stefan for the info - always nice to hear what guys use and that sort of stuff... and have a great Christmas and break.
@@tonymckenzieofficial Hey man, thanks for responding. I am with you on modelers, I always prefer amps, I just wanted one for just having it. I sometimes take it with me as a back up. Have a nice Christmas too. 👍
Ha I really like the 1987x (in my case) and those are cool but a bit inflexible, and that was the real reason I pushed the 410HJS to the top of the Marshall list for me. Of course we would ALL disagree on Marshall amps... and Jim M said the 6100 was the best they ever made? Thanks guys for watching.
@@p_1210 I did add a little extra gain to mine, but not an extra gain stage. I didn't feel like it needed an extra gain stage. My amp has a switchable clipping circuit for heavy distortion that I rarely use. Mine is obviously not a Marshall, but I built it based on that circuit with with components I like to use. It's the only way I found to get exactly what you want, (to build it yourself, or commission a build).
New subscriber! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Jubilee studio, the JCM 900 sup lead the studio vintage even the orgin. My apologies if you’ve already covered these. Let know if you have though and I’ll go back and watch them.
Indeed I DO have thoughts of them but not the 900 as I don't own one and (scarily) never have. Watch this: SV20: th-cam.com/video/AXLpIjGPGAs/w-d-xo.html SC20 Stealth: th-cam.com/video/spmM0DQgDIg/w-d-xo.html Maybe the Studio 2525: th-cam.com/video/8wM3gqZbyN4/w-d-xo.html and lastly the ST20: th-cam.com/video/1JOwtfTd7KE/w-d-xo.html - there are very many amps reviewed on my YT channel in this play list here: th-cam.com/play/PL764D9C7505FDEC8D.html but be warned that there are approximately 106 amp reviews and mods etc. that might keep you watching for a very long time. Thanks for the sub, really appreciated - and thanks for watching.
I too built a JTM45 amp (the cream one you might see in some videos. But it's not quite the same... and mostly, the kits really are slightly different. And of course they are not made by the 'Father of Loud' :) Thanks for watching...
@dsuperhawk Ha sadly not... but... if you add row one to row two (counting 1 to 10 and then x2 it makes 20! Does that work? :) great post... and thanks.
Great question. I did own a DSL100 (in green covering - special edition) made in the UK at the time. That was a pretty good amp and at a pretty low cost. I have seen the DSL Vietnamese versions and they look OK to me... but I have not used one extensively. First time I went around Marshall Factory about 10 years ago with Phil Wells they were prototyping components on a printer to send to Vietnam so that Vietnam could copy what Marshall sent over. Very interesting how they did that at that time I thought. But really Vietnam reduced the cost of the amp with labour price I guess. There's lots of the Vietnamese ones out there and if they were really bad (think TSL100 board) then I think most guys would have heard about it. So they are probably good for the cost. I always think though personally its best to base my comments on my own experience as you know, the internet can sometimes not always reflect the real position. But very good post and thanks for watching.
Hi Tony, I have one of these, and completely agree with you! Since you live in the UK, is it possible for Marshall to make me a head shell for this amp? When I bought mine, the seller damaged the factory head shell. No US dealer can get me one. If you can, I would be very thankful, and can pay you in whatever format you prefer!! If yes, I can contact your website. Thank you!
I believe that Marshall repair products... but they highly likely won't sell me a head shell. The regular 410H I reckon is exactly the same (for the black version) but I honestly have not seen any. Then if you're not UK the shipping etc. would really cost IMO... I could contact Marshall and ask... but I'm not really convinced they will sell one to me. Let me know.. Thanks
Funny enough, speaking of heavy, i used to have a peavey jsx (satriani) 2x12 combo that literally weighs 85 lbs. It eventually died a horrible death, and where i live, it would be cheaper just to buy a used one. Lol
I am surprised by your choice. I have a JVM410. My mate bought the Satriani version after trying my standard. He absolutely hated it. So I had to try it out myself, and sound really dull. I love my standard version and would never by the Satriani version.
Interesting subject. I guess its down to subjectivity etc. and the way we play - my style is pretty unorthodox and I do need particular 'feeling' amps for it to work for me... I really did try the 410H but I never mastered those... others of course have. Thanks for the post and for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial you do know the current state of Marshall right now., i really hope to think that the Code series is what the Boxster is to Porsche in the 90s to mid 00’s. By no means the greatest product put out there by the company but definitely one that mattered to the company’s existence.
@@charvlim5159 that would be the DSL series right now, keeping marshall afloat. the boxster was an excellent driving car, in every objective sense. the engine problems were existent in the 996 series of 911/carrera models too. the bad reputation of the boxster came mostly from 911 owners, being mad that feared for the prestige of the brand. i own(ed) both cars, a 2.7liter boxster and a 3.6l 996 carrera. while the 911 performs better, the boxster was the nicer driving car overall, especially around the nürburgring. way more predictable and easier to go quicker through corners, just losing out on the straights. used mine as a daily driver for almost 4 years, while the 911 oddly was my summer car (just to preserve resale value).
Top 3 amps, ah that would be telling, but maybe at some stage I could get the top three, compare them and then ask viewers in what order of top 3 :) Hey that would work :) But its not a bad idea actually. So you get the top 3 but in no particular order and just have top 'arrange' the order? Will that work? Hey thanks for watching.
@davidglobex189 - a few asked me that question... I won't answer it today... because TBH it would make a good video and one I'll probably create. Those three top amps are all different makers and each one has a reason why it's part of the three. So let me stew a while and I'll get to make a video featuring them! Deal? I hope so... and thanks for asking.
Well I never did get the Triple X here, but Joe is a really great tonemeister and I'm sure whatever he touches will be pretty cool. Thanks for the info... and for watching.
Well I think it is. IMO the Preamp is reworked... just an opinion but I have owned both and I won't ever go back to the standard unit. Thanks for watching.
I feel like they’ve run out of amps to demo these days. Like movies lol. “Let’s resurrect this amp” then the market goes sky high. Like all my dang Mark III stripe boogies lol.
I had a 205h with the OD1 mod and a choke. It was rather nice, but I also find the stock versions too stiff in the OD1 green mode, far too compressed in the orange mode and flubby in the red mode. I also found the FX loop to be a massive tone sucker, even with buffers. You can make them nice if you're willing to put money into them, but an SV20/Silver Jubilee with a Mr Scary mod and a clean boost will probably get you most of the OD tones you really want.
I have a guy that he and I swap amps all the time. He has both 410 editions sitting around in mint condition. Then he asks if I have an original Jubilee. Yep, got the 2553 and 2555 lol. We were thinking of a trade, but I’m not super impressed with the 410. Either version.
Nothing beats a Marshall, or a review by Tony! Excellent deep dive into a legendary head 🤘!!
Indeed it is a legend head... me.. I'm more of a leg end... :) Have a great Christmas my friend...
@@tonymckenzieofficial Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thanks Tony for taking us through the details of such a rare amp, lots to be learned
If you see one try and plug in and have a go... really not that common. Thanks for watching and have a great Christmas.
Yepp to all
Is this the same head Alexi Laiho used ????? I can't recall if his was just an H , or HJS ?????
I bought this amp almost ten years ago after watching your video about it, it is a really special thing, thanks for your honest reviews all the best!
Marshall have started fitting vietnamese transformers recently instead of the dagnall transformers .
With a huge quality drop and a 1khz hum
I saw that from the Ozzy. Well Marshall is subscribed to my channel and maybe they will comment? Who knows, but I wish they would. Personally, I remain a little unconvinced that Marshall would release a product with that hum (as they showed) as historically that certainly would not be. Let's keep our eyes on that aspect and see what transpires - I doubt it will remain as a problem. Good point (not applicable of course to this amp) and thanks for watching.
I whole heartedly agree Tony! Best amp ever!
Hi Peter... trust you're doing OK and thanks for watching.
Thanks Tony. Always love your in-depth reviews and demonstrations.
Hope this was interesting because its one of those amps that are pretty rare to start off with. Thanks for watching.
The HJS is a fantastic amplifier, though I personally think the YJM100 (I still have mine) is the best amp they've ever made, right along with the 2203 :)
Happy to see you still active on TH-cam and continuing to deliver unbiased reviews one can trust.
Another great review! Thanks, and Merry Christmas and Creative New Year!!!
Same to you! aipsong... and good to hear you... thanks..
Never was a fan of those things but you made it sound great Tony. Great review demo
Oh I'm not really what I used to be - gets harder as you get older for sure. Occasionally if the brains in the right place then I can play as I used to, but its really getting that inspiration... and tube amps certainly can do that. Thanks for the kind words and for watching.
Interesting video... I've never tried this version but I have the JVM 410h and I love it.
Hi Tony, right now it is just all rain & in the 40 degree mark. So far they say we are going to have a wet Christmas. Take care my friend.
Love the channel Tony! Always great information.
Thanks for watching - and appreciated.
It’s the best sounding amp for rock/metal I’ve ever heard. According to my taste that is.
Yes agree... and thanks for watching.
I am so buying one - you Dudes got me sold! and I play Mesa
@@Adrian_Reza1971 I don’t own one, but the other guitarist in my band does. We used it a lot on the latest record. Mixes well with other amps too.
My favourite Marshall is the JMD:1 , 100 watt , tube , 4 x 12 cabinet . I should not have sold it . Thank you for excellent videos .
See, we all do that sort of thing and later... it does become a regret - I'm as bad as anyone else for doing it! Thanks for watching.
A Marshall that sounds good played clean, that has to be a rare beast.
To my ears the clean tones still had a slight edge to them, but audio on TH-cam
never sounds as good as hearing an amp live.
I owned a JTM 60 and wondered why i was unable to get the clean tone that i craved for,
once i tried a well used but still working Vox AC30 i wanted one, so the Marshall went.
I still have the AC30 that i rebulit and cured all the know weakspots on and will never sell it.
Great amps and guitars take years to find, but once you find the perfect combination you
just want to keep on playing them.
Ha thanks... Diezel Hagen... :) and thanks for watching... I go back sometimes and watch them myself!
Santiago's Design is hard to beat ❤
Absolutely... I totally agree. And thanks for watching. He did a lot with the Malmsteen head...
Yup...still my favorit Amp to this day and i owned almost everything out there 👍🏻
Right on! and really great to hear. Only more recently have those 'reviewers' swung around to the 410HJS and 'decided' its good, and to be honest in a way that is surprising. From day 1 I found the HJS as right up there in the Marshall stack :) Thanks for watching.
I love my JVM 410H.......it's a beast!!
Marshall should make a 20 watt version of that.
I absolutely agree.... and thanks for watching.
There is a JVM1 1W version, but good luck finding one.
I have the standard JVM410 that I think is great; but those in the know say the JVM410 JS is on another level.
Cheers!
Great vid. Very in depth. Just got a JVM410h. Got a lot of info here since you use it as a comparison a lot.
Glad it was helpful! Check the two out and see what you think.... and thanks for watching.
5:03 00067 is JJ sourced selected for resistance to microphonics (short plates)
5:21 00055 is Shuguang long plates (high gain!)
I always replace the 00055's with JJ ECC803s's for less gain and more low end detail - your mileage may vary .....
The 1987X is a good amp for sure... I have had two :-) Thanks for watching...
I have the JVM410H but it has the choke mod. I love it to bits. The reverb is so lush. I believe the jvmjs doesn't have reverb.
I did some mods on the 410H years ago... I remember it well and its shown how to do that on my channel... thanks for watching.
I own a JVM 410H. This is a very useful, very helpful video.
Love your show - I'm sold on this amp head
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching.
Actually got to play one of these and loved it
They are certainly a very good amp... thanks for watching
a real good tone cranking the clean channel and pushing the output section into a marshall 4x12 with this amp!
Thanks for watching...
Fascinating. May not be a lightweight but it's still less than most combos. If I had one it would never move anyway. One Tony to another, thanks for the review.
Well glad you liked it tony... its a corker of an amp.... and thanks for watching.
Best regards from Denmark
Keep Rockin'
/Carsten
Thanks for watching.
love your vids
cheers from Greece
🙂
Thanks for watching this stuff... appreciated and trust you'll have a great break etc.
I've got a
JVM 100h and a tsl 100h both stuck under the stairs, i use a boss katana 100 mk1 combo now i don't miss them
At all
You should sell them and 'cut the association' with those horrible tube amps :) (not).
Did you ever do a review of the Ingwe Maalmsteem signature Marshall? That might be cool to compare that one with the JVM JS.
Yes I did here: th-cam.com/video/--CSLX066J0/w-d-xo.html and I'm sure you will like that amp...
Nice job Tony!
Thanks for the visit and of course for watching...
Oh I had a MK IV for years and a brilliant amp. And JCM800 is a classic for sure. Thanks for watching.
@@rollingstart_90s thanks bro! :)
That says everything really... thanks for watching.
nice work once again Tony! I feel like Marshall is very overdue for a new flagship dont you agree?
Indeed I do... I sit waiting patiently... Thanks for watching...
Best Review ever...!!
Thanks for those very kind words and for watching.
Your Ibanez rock ⭐️
Yes a RG550LTD! Thanks...
Is Atomic Music not a good place? I ask because I might buy a guitar on reverb from them.
Yep, My Engl got transformers that size too. Almost Identical actually now that I'm looking.
I did have an E670 Engl - a darned fine amp... thanks for watching.
I just bought a Fireball 100. Love it.
The emulated line out on mine sounds warmer than my Suhr Reactive load I.R. output.
Thanks for that post Peter... I did not use the em out but useful for many to know... regards...
HA! I’m so glad I got mine. I have to agree. 😊
Don't let it go... and thanks for watching.
My opinion as well Tony!!❤
Thanks... these replies take hours and I roll from the top down. If I don't answer a post at any time, its just that they take long to enter...
As far as modern amps go. I think these Marshall's are built really well.
I do too - I have never had any issues with Marshall amps since the TSL100. I replaced the board with current made board and it has also been pretty flawless really. Thanks for watching.
I see you still have my Hagen! lol
Agree the HJS is the perfect one amp! A real Swiss Army knife for tone!
You would love the new VH2! No doubt!
Good to see you still doing your thing.
The JVM is an PCB nightmare. When they shit the bed, they are a nightmare. Have an 06 with the floating knobs . Fun for sure!
Never had a fault with the two I had... it can happen I agree and awkward to fix, but STILL a great sounding and versatile amp. Thanks for the post and for watching.
Add the fact the tube sockets are PCB mounted, which is one of the reasons why Marshall suggest 40mv bias while people like almost 70mv
Excellent indeep review. I have two of these babies. 22 kg ist not that much heavy. Most 2x12 cabinets weigh more.
Oh I agree - one of the best amps for what I do and even the cleans are excellent too. Thanks for watching.
Very good Sounds 🤘🤘🎸
Glad you liked them... and thanks for watching.
Printed circuit cards in a Marshal tube amp? I don’t think so. Got to be point-to-point wiring, or bust.
@@TheBoss0Time I got a Super Reverb RI with a PCB board and it just doesn't sound as good as a point-to-point SF or BF.
Some of the best Marshall’s, the JMP were with printed circuit boards since 1973.
@ericandrews1661 Well I agree... I use 1961 cabs, handwired cabs, that old 'hendrix' type cab and some others and they all sound good.
One of best Marshall amps ever made in my opinion tony apart from the silver jubilee that's amp is mega brilliant demo as always 😊😊😊
Silver Jubilee reissue is made from what I saw when I reviewed it to the highest standard of quality too. Thanks for the kind words. Some think I'm Satriani and complain when I can't do that... oh well. Thanks fore watching. If only they realized how long these take to make...
i was already considering buying a jvm410h... now i need to search classified ads to find myself one of these xD
They are VERY different IMO... and thanks for watching.
Greatest un-appreciated/unknown Marshall amp is probably the Vintage Modern. Check it out.
Hi Tony,
Merry Christmas!
PS, Thank you for the education on the amp's inside, very interesting stuff.
Ha I'm certainly no amp tech, but at least I show what people are buying and I always think that matters... Thanks...
This is what they said:
The new TAD EL34-STR REDBASE™ developed completely from scratch!
The MARSHALL MAJOR is the best amp ever made period! Walls will shake, roofs will crumble, at 200 watts of KT 88 Tube Power!
Ha indeed they will... Ritchie will tell ya. :) but 200? Ouch... and thanks for watching.
@@jamesalfano5740 I almost bought a 200 watt Hiwatt major that had belonged to Punky Meadows but I couldn't come up with the scratch
1987x is the best they made imo! Also a modders dream…
I agree. Actually, I couldn't decide, so I got a two channel Ceriatone, and wired it 1987/2204. It's all I need.
@@qua7771 mine has a master and extra gain mod but looks completely stock! It’s the sound of rock n roll and covers many genres.
I'd like to have your opinion about the Friedman Twin Sister!
I don't have an opinion of that amp. Thanks for watching.
Question
Is this just guitar sound and Amp or is it added!??
Only the amp and guitar... a very versatile guitar amp. Thanks for watching.
I embarked on project building a JTM 45 clone kit and cost me about £600 to build and sounds great I think a new JTM 45 is about £1400.
I too built a JTM45 amp (the cream one you might see in some videos. But it's not quite the same... and mostly, the kits really are slightly different. And of course they are not made by the 'Father of Loud' :) Thanks for watching...
That's a lot of knobs to deal with. Do any go up to eleven ?
@dsuperhawk Ha sadly not... but... if you add row one to row two (counting 1 to 10 and then x2 it makes 20! Does that work? :) great post... and thanks.
Fair point...
The suspense is killing me!
What can I say... :)
What are your thoughts on the Made in Vietnam DSL amps?
Does Marshall still make any of their amps in England? Or VOX?
Thank You and Merry Christmas.
@@tonymckenzieofficial very helpful comment. I trust your experience and judgement. Thanks, Tony!
Thanks
@@tonymckenzieofficial Thank you Tony, if you could ask Marshall about making a head shell that would be wonderful.
Funny enough, speaking of heavy, i used to have a peavey jsx (satriani) 2x12 combo that literally weighs 85 lbs. It eventually died a horrible death, and where i live, it would be cheaper just to buy a used one. Lol
Wow. This one here is heavy, but 85 Lbs is REALLY heavy. :) Ouch there goes my back... Thanks for the info and for watching.
That was a very strong intro., i could have swear that i was going to see a video about the Marshall Code series 🫤
Oh ye of little knowledge...
What are your top 3 amps?
fender deluxe reverb, fender tweed deluxe, fender chris stapleton Princeton. All Fenders none of this marshall crap with mini pcb potentiometers.
Ha.. come on now, if you ONLY have Fender amps that's not really a top 3 :) or is it? Great comment and thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial in no particular order, of course. It would be near impossible to order them, I believe.
Im genuinely curious, What are your top three amps? Perhaps one of the others besides this Marshall are still within buyers reach.
You want it,youll save.
Well hello longtime friend, it’s been a while 😊
Still here :) but a bit older :). Thanks for hanging in there and of course for watching.
tony can you open up a friedman IR-X and show the insides?
I don't have one?
When Joe Satriani got involved with Peavey Triple X series the result was the same. However I still like the Triple X serires.
Well I never did get the Triple X here, but Joe is a really great tonemeister and I'm sure whatever he touches will be pretty cool. Thanks for the info... and for watching.
Hey Tony, what do you think of the 2203KK 800?
Great amp especially (of course) for rock :) Thanks for watching.
Is it really far from the normal jvm410, tone wise, besides the noise gate and choke?
Well I think it is. IMO the Preamp is reworked... just an opinion but I have owned both and I won't ever go back to the standard unit. Thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial i see. It sucks that this aint offered as a standard production unit.
@ when the Mr. Scary mod was released, I thought it was for the Badlander only I though? They make it for the SV now too?
Is it a Jimmie Vai Malmsteen amp…..JVM?
:) Ha good one.... and thanks for watching.
I have a guy that he and I swap amps all the time. He has both 410 editions sitting around in mint condition. Then he asks if I have an original Jubilee. Yep, got the 2553 and 2555 lol. We were thinking of a trade, but I’m not super impressed with the 410. Either version.
The HJS is hands down better than the regular 410H... Jubilees are OK of course also. Thanks for watching.
