Pro tip, with sisig, mix the raw egg while the plate is still hot to cook it. Glad you're introducing Pinoy food to Aussies. Ensaymada is really more like brioche in my opinion. Also, most street food are almost always paired w dipping sauce, mostly spicy vinegar (sinamak)
Great tip about the sisig! We’ll definitely remember that for next time. Ensaymada did remind us of brioche too. We did get some vinegar dipping sauce with the street food, I should have mentioned it in hindsight!
though halo-halo could be translated as mix-mix because halo is mix BUT when we say HALO-HALO it is more proper to translate it as MIX OF-MIX OF or a "mix of a bunch of several varieties" or "caboodle of..." or "smorgasbord of...."
That’s really interesting! Thanks for sharing the proper translation of halo-halo. We love how many different ingredients are mixed together - it really is a smorgasbord of deliciousness! 😋
Thank you for making a Filipino food vlog in Sydney and having an open mind trying Filipino cuisine. It was delightful to see that you truly enjoyed Filipino food and dessert. If you haven't notice most Filipino cuisine its all about the balance of sweet and salty or sweet and sour or tangy, sweet and salty taste profile etc. and for the most part it comes with condiments to adjust the taste to your liking. You have the freedom to make it more salty or more sweet or more tangy/citrusy. Unlike other cuisine its frown upon if you try to change or alter the taste profile with condiments to your liking.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! 😊 We’re so glad you enjoyed the vlog and really appreciate you pointing out the balance of flavours in Filipino cuisine-it’s something we’ve definitely noticed and loved. I'm kicking myself that I edited out the part where I talked about the condiments with the street food, that was a Filo rookie error and I'll be sure to highlight that more next time! - Jon
Great job with the vid! Though, I'm surprised you didn't dip any of the street food items into the vinegar. Those were all definitely meant to be dipped.
Thanks! Rest assured we did use the dipping sauce, in a lapse of editing judgement I cut that part out! in hindsight, I should have mentioned it too, sounds like it was a key part of the experience. I'll remember that for next time! - Jon
Thanks for the tip! We’ll make sure to mix the egg into the sisig next time while it’s still sizzling. We’re always learning more about how to enjoy these dishes the right way! 😊

We pair most of our food with rice... For Sisig, garlic fried rice is the best pair.
Yum! Garlic fried rice sounds like the perfect pairing with sisig. We’ll definitely try it that way next time - thanks for the recommendation! 😊
Best to pair the food with white rice bc most Filipino foods are salty. Rice balances it out.
For sure! Crispy Patta without rice makes for quite a salty dish! Thanks for watching.😀
I am here sometimes and tried most/all of them - I'm glad you are in the area trying the food, glad you liked it :)
That’s awesome! Rooty Hill has such a great food scene, and we loved exploring it. Any favourites of yours we should try next time?

Filipino food seems better abroad than in the homeland lol. Zero quality over here.

Thorough review! Nice!
Thank you so much! We’re glad you enjoyed the review! 😊
dishes are usually a bit salty and too flavorful most of the time because they are meant to be eaten WITH plain rice
That makes a lot of sense! Thanks for watching.
You are also supposed to mix the sisig to cook the egg while the sizzling platter is still hot.
We appreciate the tip! We’ll make sure to mix the egg right away next time so it cooks properly on the sizzling platter. Thanks for the advice! 😊
The egg should be mix with the sisig the moment it’s served ang still hot and sizzling.
Thanks for the tip! We’ll make sure to mix the egg into the sisig next time while it’s still sizzling. We’re always learning more about how to enjoy these dishes the right way! 😊
