You definitely missed out on some of the Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. I know that some of those had Chinese cooks from the mainland back then. There are some great vlogs on how to visit them in 1 day. Just search on TH-cam. You might want to do your version of it from a Chinese perspective. I think you'll have a great time here because you seem warm and openminded. Filipinos do like to talk. Just be careful with your phone, camera and wallet. We have some great pickpockets especially in tourist places. It's pretty safe but we have some bad people, too. Don't go to places that locals warn you not to go, especially at night. Stay in the main areas. Main business districts in Makati, Ortigas, BGC and Eastwood are safe even at night. Most of our Chinese clients worked and stayed in Makati. Some of them put up their own restaurants year ago.
It's correct.. You really need to research the places beforehand, because the Chinatown is very decentralized, and the good stuff is often very far from each other.
