B&W2's postgame is probably the most enjoyable for me. Rematching significant characters like Cynthia, N, Hugh, Colress, former rivals Cheren & Bianca? Check. A side activity in Pokestar studios that lets u make wacky & fun movies (& depending on ur performance can have different endings)? Check. black 2 and white 2 had great postgame , the pokemon world tournament , pokestar studios, the black tree tower and white tree hollow , battle subway , the medal rally it was the best imo
I honestly think I was kinda blessed with ORAS. They were my favourite games growing up and i replayed them so much. But also being able to trade all mons via internet and collect all of the legendaries was just such a joy to do. I even caught my first few shinies there (first was the Luxray in my profile pic) with the dexnav and it was so much fun. Truly love these games.
My problem with the legendary’s was the fact they didn’t give them any special encounters . I like their addition but didn’t feel like they belong there
Gen 6 made breeding and trading so fun since it was so easy do it. I remember doing giveaways of my breedjects and even using google translate to ask people in japan to hatch my eggs since you could do the homebrew egg id checking trick to hatch shinies if you found the matching trainer id
Although I would place BW2 over USUM, I gotta respect the rainbow rocket thing. Giving Ghetsis a chance to try and assault a child again is brave. Edit: FOR THE 3RD TIME
Great video! The PWT was so fun. As a middle school/high school student learning the piano and music theory, I loved all of the remixes of the gym leaders themes. I loved learning how to play the gen 5 songs on piano.
10:37 PLA has the best postgame story but it’s kinda cheating since it’s the true climax of the plot and the game rolls credits in a place that leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Even worse, the timing of the credits rolling meant some players simply stopped there and didn’t get their questions answered or their minds blown.
I only played part of Explorers of Time because I was younger but I did play all of Rescue Team DX and it was kind of a short story and a super repetitive post-game... Is Explorers of Sky just more dungeons in the post-game?
Platinum also gives you the distortion world. You get all three legendary box arts. Emerald gives you all three legendary exclusives. You can pick which lati you want.
Oras also is one of the best shiny hunting experiences. a good variety of shiny hunting methods, some involving a little bit of skill instead of pure luck. pair that with the poke radar and friend safari from X and Y, and you’ve got the best generation for shiny hunting
I’m happy to hear someone speak so highly of US/UM. According to Nintendo’s sales reports, USUM did the worst in sales. From XY’s release in 2013 to SWSH’s release in 2019, USUM did the worst and I took that to believe that people liked the originals. I was baffled by that because I feel like USUM offers more context during both the main game and the post game
Don't take it personally, the third games ALWAYS do worse than the originals, and the second generation on the same console always does worse too; Gen 5 was less than Gen 4, Gen 7 less than Gen 6, etc...
Most people admit that US/UM are clearly the better games. It's just that regular S/M came out first, while the Ultra versions aren't different enough from the original versions for most players who already bought S/M to then "double-dip" on the new releases, even compared to Yellow, Emerald, Platinum, and maybe even Crystal. Releasing them as a pair of updated games instead of a single third version also didn't help with the marketing. Personally, I would've done the same had I not been lucky enough to hold off on my purchase of a Gen 7 game until after the Ultra versions had been announced.
@@Compucles I agree they are better. You’re probably right about S/M having more attention because they came first. If I remember correctly, they came out the same year as the 20th anniversary. So that’s probably why they gained so much attention. But I also agree that two versions instead of a single, definitive version doesn’t help.
@@oscarzxn4067 I bought them because I’m that kind of fan 🤣. I’ll admit I bought the Let’s Go games just so I wouldn’t feel like I missed something. I think USUM should’ve came first. I feel like it had more to offer and it just seems more vibrant than the first game
I've learned so much from this video! There are so many cool things I had no idea were in some of these games! Even though i've played all these games, it still feels like I have a whole generation to go back and play! This was a really cool and intresting video, thanks! I also found myself agreeing with almost all your opinions so this was also kind of relatable.
As I was compiling the list I was thinking the exact same thing! Dude was a staple in postgame content for generations! How are they gonna just drop him like that?
I love that in recent years Gen 5 is getting more of the attention it deserves. Unova used to be criminally underrated, and I still find myself playing White & White 2 on my original system.
@@emperorcuboneI can understand, since I've played through all of those games too, and have enjoyed each one. Each region has it's own merits, but for me Unova is a place I'd like to call home.
I spent most of my free time in ORAS's postgame when I was in high school. It was just so good. That was the only game I ever tried to complete to Pokedex in. The DexNav made it super easy, soaring was awesome and the best way to fly, the legendary encounters were awesome, and I even tried my hand at competitive battling because of all the experience I kept gaining. The Delta episode however, was the best part of the whole thing. I don't really care much for Zinnia, but man I appreciate that she has a story for you to explore. Also that little bit with Looker at the Battle Resort foreshadowing Sun and Moon was really cool. Hoenn has always been my favorite region, ever since I first played Emerald. I really wish that we did get a Delta Emerald, but either way ORAS - and even gen 6 as a whole - was a special time for me despite everyone's criticism. I understand the frustration but personally, it was awesome.
For the Ultra games I definitely agree! For the originals, they could've just used a bit more Alola specific activities besides the things everyone has like the Dex, or shiny hunting, etc...
@@emperorcubone I was more taking about the originals, but I get what you mean. Maybe expanded battle royal or poke finder would have been interesting or even a fifth island, but idk, I’m glad it at least has something as opposed to sword, scarlet and X.
@emperorcubone EC, I feel like you ignored/brushed over the part of the Alola postgame that comes before all of the Battle Tree stuff, and that is the various paths and areas that open up on Poni Island which all end up at the Battle Tree; those postgame locations are particularly important for completing the Zygarde cell/Totem sticker side-quests and since you brought up similar points in favor for Sinnoh and Unova
Even though Ruby and Sapphire are my favorite games, I have to say that you ranked it to high. You can catch the Regi’s before the pokemon league so it is just Latios/latias, beldum, Rayquaza and battle tower. Love your content! Great video as usual
I remember when I finished Sapphire version when I was a kid, and was wondering why we weren’t given access to Jhoto like we had Kanto in the previous gen. I know it won’t happen but I just wish that Game Freak would do another generation where we can travel back and see the changes in a previous region. Granted, preferably without relying too much on such access like I heard a lot of people say about Jhoto.
I remember putting in so much work to get the free gen 1 and 3 starters in hgss. It's probably one of my all time favorites with gen 5 and 9. ORAS though was probably the best done game in the series preswitch. Devnav was just wonderful.
I personally love little side quests in the post game. Preferably a lot of them. Also they should be well thought out and interesting. *Not all side quests are created equally.*
@15:10 I feel like this is not a good excuse for ORAS to not have the Battle Frontier. Solely because they opened up with more lore on Rayquaza and gave it a Mega Evolution. It was like they expanded on Emerald, in ORAS, through the Delta Episode.
I feel Emerald and the battle frontier should be higher. They offer you challenges in different ways. You had the pyramid which was an edurance run, making you value moves to keep you healthy more and attacks with les power but more pp. The battle factory you had to be tactical and use what you were offered in rental pokemon, requiring of you a good understanding of pokemon and their stats and what you were lacking and what could help going forward. I will admit the others were more standard affairs, where you could win with regular tactics, but I've not come across much in the series that challenges me in a way as removed from regular play or competative play as the frontier. Plus there are all the contests, another way to make you build and riase pokemon in a different way, using different moves and synergies. And all the secret bases for fun and ways to express yourself. Emerald may be weaker in terms of postagme story and catching and legendaries, but they never were that appealing to me. You find the legend, you do that status move, you weaken it, then you sit there throwing ball after ball until it works, then move onto the next
I guess that's just not something that appeals to everyone; I know I'm not the only person that thinks, "If I'm gonna do so many hours of battling I want something to show for it." Even if that's just a level 100 Pokemon, that seems better than renting Pokemon I can't actually keep...
I’ve actually never been able to beat my copy of Soul Silver before. It’s a shame I’ve missed out on such an amazing postgame. Since the man himself was flabbergasted, I shall explain myself. I have always chose Meganium, which puts me at an immediate disadvantage. After that I always think I have a pretty balanced team, but I always end up being roadblocked by Claire, then completely stonewalled by the elite 4 after the fact. Now I am no Pokémon novice. I’ve beaten most of the games I’ve played. But for some reason, (probably Meganium) Johto has always been my Achilles Heel.
My first pokemon game was HeartGold, where I only leveled up my Typhlosion, so I got road blocked by Clair. I had to make the executive decision a few years back to finally delete the save (which had my first and ONLY shiny Pokemon), so I could actually beat the game 😔
What are you considering the fine line of post game starting? At first I thought it was credits rolling but then you talked about Legends Arceus. The Volo missions and the Giratina Mystery happen after the credits of that game but you didn't mention it.
I spent so much time in HGSS that I have more memories of playing the post game than the main game. As for Platinum, there is so much content that the strategy guide could probably be used as a lethal weapon. I used to think XY had the best post game, but after seeing this video I kind of agree it was lacking compared to the likes of HGSS and ORAS. I don’t think it’s one of the worst though.
I would've loved to learn why people love the Battle Frontier so much, but instead they just insulted me calling me dumb, and didn't explain any reasons for it other than "strategy." Like I can't do that and actually keep my Pokemon at the same time?
I truly think if there had been 1 game in-between the Alola entirs, (like Sinnoh remakes, etc.) USUM would be heralded as some of the greatest games of all time!
@@emperorcubone agreed! i think it'll take some time but eventually the nostalgia will settle on older games and people will start seeing games more objectively... i remember when i got into the community everyone hated gens 4 and 5 (except for hgss, they were always loved) and nowadays they are considered the best while the dust has settled on the first 3 gens i'd say. i can't wait for that to happen to the 3ds entries since they are often overlooked!
While I love gen 2 (my og gen), I found X & Y's postgame more full of stuff to do. Just wish there was a full battle frontier. The Maison isn't bad though
In Kalos I mostly just went back and battled the rich trainers in the facility next to the daycare. It wasn't hard and they gave out lots of money; of course that's not postgame except for the Elite Four being there, but that's where I spent most of my postgame anyway...
The fact of the matter is, post game has been relegated to dlc now. The same will happen to SV once dlc comes out it will have post game staples like SwSh did. Too bad.
I like that Gen 5 was high up that said I think the Gen 4 games (excluding Legends Arceus if that counts) have a worse Post Game then the Gen 1 Remakes (not the originals) because you have to complete the Pokedex to get most of it. At least Let's Go lets you battle the Gym Leaders again easily and lets you fly on Pokemon like Charizard.
I really appreciate when you think about it, ORAS being the best remakes cause it offers so much content and allowing Gen 6 to possibly finish the entire Pokedex easily.
They may technically have more content, but they sacrificed most of the improvements from Emerald to do it! I don't just mean the Battle Frontier but also stuff like the extra story elements like with the Team Magma hideout and the incredible showdown in Sootopolis with Rayquaza descending to break up the fight, as well as the Gym Leader rematches, and a few other things.
In my Omega Ruby playthrough, I took like a 6-8hr break before the Victory Road just to explore Soar better and to spice things up, I'm planning on catching Pokémon on routes and trying to locate more of the legends along with the Delta Episode.
@@emperorcubone i think what does it for people, myself included, is the variety OF said battes. HGSS has a breat battle tower but its just SIMPLE BATTLING. like a boss rush kinda. where Emerald has what 8 building with a unique and mandatory way of HOW to battle. i think that point gets glossed over too easily. true it may not be for everyone, but for battle junkies, its the variety that does it for us.
@@emperorcubone late reply - overblown is HIGHLY subjective lol. I spent INSANE amount of time in Battle Frontier and it was some of the best time spent in ANY pokégame by far. an absolute paradise for a competitive player (and eaaasy Top 3 postgame, insane to put it any lower quite frankly)
Scarlet and vilots variation of the following mechanic needs work, so does the new breeding mechanic. I'm hoping the dlc comes out with some sort of expansion for them.

Emerald has the best post-game. Why? The sheer variety of challenges in the battle frontier. All the other battle frontiers are just too straightforward. Plus it is fun. I spent more hours playing the emerald post-game than all other games combined.
Okay but help me out; like I said I didn't really play it much so what does "variety" mean? Is there more to do than just battling or is it like, this one does double battles, etc...
@@emperorcubone basically for people who love pokemon for battling, Emerald is high on the list because it provides variety on the challenges related to battle. I personally have spent 800 hours on Emerald, mostly thanks to Battle Frontier. It's basically the thrill of getting post-game Pokemon gym badges, but with a far higher difficulty. I've levelled up several of my pokemon to lvl 100 precisely because I want them to be used in the Battle Frontier. The satisfaction of beating a Frontier Brain is unlike any other.
@@daniaaalI miss breeding and training Pokemon to level 50 or 100 just for the frontier - breeding Pokémon with specific natures for the auto battle facility, putting together multiple of the same Pokémon with specific move sets for the other facilities, training up a Linoone for pickup in the Pyramid, etc.
9:00 im agree with this. its better if there's battle frontier provide the Exps/any progress for my pokemon rather than make the game like amusement park. now im understand why im not really interested on Emerald Battle frontier in the first place since my first playthrough.
1 say 1. Delta Episode 2. Opporation Rainbow Rocket 3. Seven Sages/Alder, 4. Kanto League if you want to count it as postgame, and after that it's not really worth it.
Nah, it was super lame. Terrible characters, basic backtracking and joke battles, and worst of all they ruined an actually great area (Sky Pillar) and turned it into a glorified ladder full of poorly written exposition.
I definitely feel like the reason the emerald battle frontier is the best is because there was 7 battle facilities instead of 5 or 1 like the following games plus it's the only one that appeared in the anime

I don't typically play through post-games; hard enough finding the time to complete the main story of games as it is, especially RPGs (Pokémon is an exception thanks to it's shorter length and less cutscenes). So it is funny to me hearing the... discourse that takes place over the concept of post-games for the Pokémon series. 2:06 - The Master Trainer was a distinct concept, but yeah, a right chore to train up all those Pokémon. The key problem with Let's Go is that it has no excuse for it's sparse post-game because it could have taken the content from Fire Red/Leaf Green's post-game content at the very least. 2:46 - That is how I actually experienced the Isle of Armor. My brother and I ended up doing all of it before we even took on the first Gym. Well, except the Kubfu part. I have no interest in Legendaries. 4:21 - X and Y was one of the few post-games I did... or at least, the Looker missions. Short, bit of an odd ending but a fun idea. 7:03 - I've warmed up to Fire Red/Leaf Green more over the years but I'm still annoyed at their arbitrary locking of newly made evolutions behind the post-game. Golbat just being unable to evolve into Crobat for unknown reasons until you got the National Dex was baffling. Sevil Islands was nice concept, particularly for giving Moltres a place of it's own and teasing Archer for his Gold/Silver role. 8:01 - Black and White is another of the very few post-games I ever did. The new areas were nice to run through, particularly as a means to finally use my Volcarona (went through the entire League with it as a Larvesta because of it's high evolution level), though I was disappointed you didn't get to fight the sages. 9:02 - Neat, Pokémoa artwork. I did play a fair bit of Pokémon Emerald's post-game. A child me attempted the various facilities of the Battle Frontier many a time with little success. I think won maybe one or two of the areas. I also agree that I don't quite get the hype for it; I'd rather go adventuring through a new area with my actual team and seeing them grow further. That said, the new characters were neat. 12:01 - Gold and Silver's Kanto is one of those "fun in concept, poor in execution" ideas. Johto's horrible level curve rears it's ugly head here and makes it more annoying than exciting. It is cool to see how Kanto has changed but the gameplay portion is where it's let down. 14:57 - Oooh, I can see this being a controversial placement on this list. Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire was the first time I heard folks complain about Pokémon post-game. I can see your points here, but a big emphasis on a lot of this post-game is catching new Pokémon... which given I'd have beaten the league at this point, I would already my full team of six pretty solidly set.
HG/SS. You could debate Black and white 2 but the content in that game is just undefeated. A whole other region,Safari zone, pal park,Battle Frontier, over 15 legendary Pokémon,GB sounds (gold and silver soundtrack) and so much more.
Ah, well see there's the disconnect; the game should be about playing the game! Not using it as a means to an end, and a great many players have never even tried a competitive battle, so when that's all you're offering it's going to turn some people off...
I dont think a dlc that you have to pay extra for counts as post game. A post game should be part of the base game and not locked behind a paywall, especially when the game is already barebones.
@@TheJoker-rs8wyThey are part of the basegame. You are confusing basegame with maingame. A basegame is any game that you get after buying WITHOUT any addons, dlcs or packs
Okay this might just be me or just be pointless, but where do you consider the latest games with DLC in regards to being post game. I know plenty dont like the idea, but it is cheaper than getting a third version or low quality sequel like the Ultra games. And its usually the content after you complete the main game. Even if you do like I do and make three users to play as all the starters and build new teams from that.
Just because that part of the game in real life came out after most people beat it doesn't make it *official postgame; if you can go there before the credits role I'm counting it in the main game, like the Isle of Armor. (As for the DLC vs. 3rd version discussion that's a whole separate issue, but let's just say I'm not in favor of the $90 variant to fix a broken game...)
I will never not refer to SM'd postgame as anything more than birdwatching, which is why I prefer USUM overall as a game. Say what you will about the story at least the postgame exists.
I have a soft spot for SM original Post Game. I know USUM is gameplay wise much better and had a full nostalgic villain group meeting and probably had way more to do, but the extra story of vanilla SM and how it connected to Ultra Wormholes, Mohn, UBs, the tradition of Looker cameos, etc was wonderful.
I think everyone was looking to past reamles for their expectations when we really should've been looking at the other remakes on Switch, cause BDSP was much closer to Let's Go...
They really dropped the ball. Nobody wants "faithful" remakes. They want changes, improvements and expansions to the stories they once knew to make them the definitive ways to experience those regions. BDSP did the bare minimum. HGSS and ORAS are prime examples of what to do with remakes.
My list at the top is similar, being: BW2, ORAS, HGSS, USUM, however unlike most people I generally find hgss postgame to be rather love it or hate it at different moments of time, whereas BW2 and ORAS are genuinely my most played games of all time. BW2 offers what I think will never happen again, being legendaries that you have to "stumble into." As a kid (ages 7-13) there was still tons to figure out and explore. Half the region was postgame, giving so many battle options, like the black tower which was a fun puzzle/battle game that was excellent for grinding levels, the subway which allowed for interesting battle mechanics to shine, and the battle houses riddled across the region. The rewards for the regional pokedex were infinitely more fun than before and id argue were better placed than any we currently have. I have many happy hours exploring and completing the pokedex, getting that guarenteed shiny haxorus, the shiny charm, etc. This along with the ridiculous amounts of legendaries to stumble across and the postgame kyurem/zekrom quest and the memory link is just absurd. The games were way more polished and enjoyable to a ridiculous margin compared to any other pokemon game and no other game has since rewarded "the exploration" since. ScVi got halfway there, but lacked/lacks the "fun" of it all and things feel far more tedious than they should, along with the lack of proper content other than "go make comp pokemon!"
Hmm, if the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk counted then probably around like #5-7. Mostly on the strength of the Blueberry Academy since Kitakami was a bit underwhelming.
I’ll be honest, I don’t think I really enjoyed any Pokémon postgame until Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet, and the only reason I enjoyed those was cuz the gameplay was strong enough to keep me coming back lol. The only one I can remember really enjoying other than SV and Legends was XY, and that’s probably just nostalgia cuz I started with XY (plus the Looker Bureau story is really good on a first time playing it, but it isn’t that fun if you’ve already done it lol).
Personally, I think that you'll be rating scarlet and violet much lower in a few years. I enjoyed playing them, but after I beat them I stopped playing. I'm not a fan of raids, and I found the battle tower and battle cafés in sw/sh much more fun. Overall, this vid makes me want to replay the older games to see if they live up

That would great to play all those on piano! It's pure musical genius!
10:34 it helps that catching em all in PLA is actually, you know, possible without trading
I love the X & Y Looker story!!! 😥 Emma is one of my favorite Pokémon characters.
The Pokémon game with the best post game is Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky
Haha, well I was only looking at mainline games, but you have a point!
I only played part of Explorers of Time because I was younger but I did play all of Rescue Team DX and it was kind of a short story and a super repetitive post-game... Is Explorers of Sky just more dungeons in the post-game?
@@FizzikkOfficialpost game is the extended main story basically and TONS of new dungeons, also insane plots twist at the end
You also straight up get told to kill yourself in said post game@@mathewgonzalez4153
Did some great chain fishing then!
I personally didn't buy it because I felt it could have been DLC and seemed a bit like a scam to me
@@oscarzxn4067 I bought them because I’m that kind of fan 🤣. I’ll admit I bought the Let’s Go games just so I wouldn’t feel like I missed something. I think USUM should’ve came first. I feel like it had more to offer and it just seems more vibrant than the first game
The last part about HGSS almost sounded like an actual advertisement for the games
I'm glad I could shine a light on some of the secrets!
I am still surprised that looker hasn't been seen since gen 7
As I was compiling the list I was thinking the exact same thing! Dude was a staple in postgame content for generations! How are they gonna just drop him like that?
I love that in recent years Gen 5 is getting more of the attention it deserves. Unova used to be criminally underrated, and I still find myself playing White & White 2 on my original system.
I still prefer Gens 4, 6, or 7 but Gen 5 still has its moments.
@@emperorcuboneI can understand, since I've played through all of those games too, and have enjoyed each one. Each region has it's own merits, but for me Unova is a place I'd like to call home.
By the way, keep up the good work! Your videos are great!
12:19 too bad the Red battle is locked behind weeks’ worth of level grinding
I think gen 7 has a decent post game. Not the best or the worst. But still fun and gives you some things to do.
Thanks! I'm just glad people can be mad at you now instead of me, cause there are some serious Hoenn diehards out there...
I remember when I finished Sapphire version when I was a kid, and was wondering why we weren’t given access to Jhoto like we had Kanto in the previous gen. I know it won’t happen but I just wish that Game Freak would do another generation where we can travel back and see the changes in a previous region. Granted, preferably without relying too much on such access like I heard a lot of people say about Jhoto.
having a jhoto kanto unova side by side would be completely insane, thats like 40 towns and 28 badges
Excellent video as always
I loved Emerald and HG/SS's post game
I remember putting in so much work to get the free gen 1 and 3 starters in hgss. It's probably one of my all time favorites with gen 5 and 9. ORAS though was probably the best done game in the series preswitch. Devnav was just wonderful.
This all sounds about right!
The Kanto part of HGSS and the Rainbow Rocket attack in USUM are the only post games that I make sure to finish when replaying a game.
Delta Episode is worth it too, if for no other reason than the free Deoxys!
Facts like kanto doesn't even feel like a post game to me, it just feels like the second half
I loved the Looker sidequests so much I replayed the game to do them again
I think this is the first YT tierlist vid where I agree with every single ranking o_0
That's quite a feat! I'm impressed...
I think you overlooked Let's Go a bit, you have both GL and E4 Rematches with updated Teams.
Seriously? I've played through mine at least a dozen times!
What’s giving you trouble? If you have a balanced team you’ll have enough coverage to beat the elite four
The level grind is hard
My first pokemon game was HeartGold, where I only leveled up my Typhlosion, so I got road blocked by Clair. I had to make the executive decision a few years back to finally delete the save (which had my first and ONLY shiny Pokemon), so I could actually beat the game 😔
15:00 Soaring doesn’t open up in the postgame. It opens up after you get the Eon Flute BEFORE the eighth gym.
Kay, you got me. Five minutes before the postgame...
You can also re-battle the team star members as many times as you like
What are you considering the fine line of post game starting? At first I thought it was credits rolling but then you talked about Legends Arceus. The Volo missions and the Giratina Mystery happen after the credits of that game but you didn't mention it.
Well sure, I didn't hit every single point in every postgame, but the credits rolling was pretty much the defining line...
I genuinely love the swsh post-game lol. I generally don't bother with Pokémon post-game but I've done swsh's multiple times
I'm with you about the battle frontier. I've never cared about it, played it for a little while then just said "this isn't fun" and stopped
I would've loved to learn why people love the Battle Frontier so much, but instead they just insulted me calling me dumb, and didn't explain any reasons for it other than "strategy." Like I can't do that and actually keep my Pokemon at the same time?
thank you for giving usum some love :) nobody every appreciates the amazing post game it has which is a shame considering it's my comfort game
@@emperorcubone I spent a lot of time in Lumiose. There's a ton of little things to do, like working in the hotel and of course the Looker storyline.
I started with Silver Version! The post game is what sold me on being a life-long fan. White 2's PWT IS MY FAVORITE
Yeah, a game like that will draw you in for sure!
emerald battle frontier is one of the best pieces of content in any video game ever imo
The fact of the matter is, post game has been relegated to dlc now. The same will happen to SV once dlc comes out it will have post game staples like SwSh did. Too bad.
amazing video! Thanks!
I like oras post game the best since gen 3 is my favorite
I can’t believe a PokéTuber has the courage to call Emerald post-game mid. I agree, but you’re a brave solid for that lol
I guess by definition it is in the very middle, but as good as the whole game is the Battle Frontier is overblown...
I did find the ace tournament in scarlet and violet to be neat

@@emperorcubone well I like to think it's their break

Wait but half the islands in FR/LG are before the post game, it should count only half as much.
So glad that new post game content seems to only be dlc now. Very happy to pay even more for an unfinished game
(did not actually buy the new Pokémon games lol)
Scarlet and vilots variation of the following mechanic needs work, so does the new breeding mechanic. I'm hoping the dlc comes out with some sort of expansion for them.
Oh I'm with you, I hate the new breeding method!
WAIT REALLY black 2 has a hard mode! Ok im going back to that game asap but I have to admit oras is. My favorite game its firstly my favorite region so bias i know but its post game really is amazing.
Great list I don't think it could fault it 1 bit. You done well to plan this out l.
7:28 it’s so dumb that you have to unlock trading with your friends in the postgame tho
Good list. I love replaying HG and SS as well as ORAS. 🎉
1 say 1. Delta Episode 2. Opporation Rainbow Rocket 3. Seven Sages/Alder, 4. Kanto League if you want to count it as postgame, and after that it's not really worth it.
The Delta Episode, nuff said
For real!

The cutscene where Rayquaza takes you into space to destroy the meteor is EPIC!
@@michaelnelson1127 indeed
Nah, it was super lame. Terrible characters, basic backtracking and joke battles, and worst of all they ruined an actually great area (Sky Pillar) and turned it into a glorified ladder full of poorly written exposition.
I definitely feel like the reason the emerald battle frontier is the best is because there was 7 battle facilities instead of 5 or 1 like the following games plus it's the only one that appeared in the anime
Honestly not having a battle tower should make scarlet and violet way lower
18:00 profesor elm gives you a hoenn starter too!

Emerald that low is criminal. For exactly the reason you said it would be. Pure bias lol

I would put Emerald a little higher and ORAS a little lower, but solid reasoning overall.
HG/SS. You could debate Black and white 2 but the content in that game is just undefeated. A whole other region,Safari zone, pal park,Battle Frontier, over 15 legendary Pokémon,GB sounds (gold and silver soundtrack) and so much more.
Couldn't agree more, on all fronts!
Gen 8 had a great post game because it was all about getting you into competitive play.
Ah, well see there's the disconnect; the game should be about playing the game! Not using it as a means to an end, and a great many players have never even tried a competitive battle, so when that's all you're offering it's going to turn some people off...
Very interesting video Idea. It's very good
Thanks! I thought it might shake up the usual list format with things going where you wouldn't expect...
3:35 Crown Tundra counts as post game bit not Ilse of Armor
I dont think a dlc that you have to pay extra for counts as post game. A post game should be part of the base game and not locked behind a paywall, especially when the game is already barebones.
@@TheJoker-rs8wyso we don’t don’t count Crystal, Emerald platinum, black 2 and white 2, ultra sun and moon postgame as there not part of the base game
@@TheJoker-rs8wyThey are part of the basegame. You are confusing basegame with maingame. A basegame is any game that you get after buying WITHOUT any addons, dlcs or packs
I wanna see what problems you have with the Paldean region you have, please.
I haven't forgotten, that one will be coming, don't worry...
The trials can be post-game content for future Pokémon games.
Routes 17 and 18 are actually available once you get Surf in BW
True, but how many people bother going back before they've pressed through to the end?
@@emperorcubone If they wanted Larvesta on their main team.
BDSP had so much potential with giratina but....
Here we are
I think everyone was looking to past reamles for their expectations when we really should've been looking at the other remakes on Switch, cause BDSP was much closer to Let's Go...
They really dropped the ball.
Nobody wants "faithful" remakes. They want changes, improvements and expansions to the stories they once knew to make them the definitive ways to experience those regions. BDSP did the bare minimum. HGSS and ORAS are prime examples of what to do with remakes.
BDSP had so much potential*
There I fixed it
@@SegaMarioPeople do want faithful to a degree. As in it captures the same vibe while improving on the original. BDSP only accomplished the former
@@vaporterra Yeah. And that's what the most beloved remakes achieved with both the former and latter.
My list at the top is similar, being:
BW2,
ORAS,
HGSS,
USUM, however unlike most people I generally find hgss postgame to be rather love it or hate it at different moments of time, whereas BW2 and ORAS are genuinely my most played games of all time.
Where does Scarlet snd Violet with DLC count?
The looker missons in x and Y were pretty darn good.
