I Made A Bunch of Fantasy Cloaks! *in 3 days* | Easy DIY Sewing

- Bring back cloaks! As we are now heading into crunch leaf season it seemed the perfect time to make myself a collection of cloaks for every occasion.
Plus, these are so easy to make!! I 100% recommend for con crunching, last minute halloween costumes, ren faires, LARPs (Live Action Roleplay) - or just replacing a mundane dressing gown. It felt so nice to make something simple for a change, definitely a much needed break from the usual manic rush.
I knew there were some styles I'd be able to get out really quickly and others that would take a little more work, so for anyone who wants to make a fantasy costume on a budget and with no real sewing skills required then some of them might be helpful to you.

This was the perfect vibe as I work on my renaissance faire outfit! Maybe if I have time I can whip up a cloak to match. Congrats on the wedding and hope the dress sewing isn't too stressful!

@@MadameMyriad A linen kirtle using Morgan Donner's drafting instructions! I'll probably add a wool outer layer as well when I get the chance, but we're having a bizarrely long summer here in southern Canada, so anything more than linen and a light cloak would have me roasting- and you can't skip the cloak!
I love those, every time I see one I want to make one! Morgan Donner’s videos are so good to follow too, I used one of theirs when making my Rapunzel chemise.

They were fantastic! Gandalf and the hobbit ones were definitely my favorite but I'm a Middle Earth so I can't say I was surprised that they were.

I haven't made any cloaks for myself but am now wondering if I need to make an elf cloak to go with my Middle Earth Loki cosplay.
I wish you heaps of fortune in getting everything done. I know you already have it all planned out, but a Middle Earth wedding would be spectacular. I speak from experience. Leaves of Lórien wedding bands and all.

Our wedding is very budget and planned in a month but we have gone with some middle earth inspirations where we can, our long term plan is to hold a massive medieval feast for our 10th anniversary- assuming we have a better income by then 😄
@@MadameMyriad I'll post pictures once it's done. Right now I'm at the "is there such a thing as too many beads and sequins?" stage of the main dress. But it's for Motor City Comic Con at the beginning of November so it'll only be a few more weeks.
I would love to see and hear about what you are doing/have done for your wedding. It tickles me when people plan a wedding for themselves that makes their hearts smile instead of maybe going a more traditional route.
We went budgety for ours; Wedding was held in my parent's back yard which we decorated a la Bilbo's birthday party, my mom made our wedding clothes, we made our own invitations, we didn't have a wedding party, my bff Jill officiated, and my daughter and I made all the food. And we were definitely hobbity with the food. We could probably have fed a small army. It was a perfect day.
I stumbled across your channel two weeks ago when you posted your hallway makeover, and I'm so glad to have found you! The cloaks all turned out lovely, and seeing them come together (at least in parts) so easily really inspired me to sew something of my own again. Your channel is very much giving me British Rachel Maksy vibes, and I'm soo here for it! Wishing you all the best of luck on the wedding dress, in case it isn't finished yet, and looking forward to your next video! (By the way: How is there a giant sarcophagus in your living room? It brings a real National Trust/English Heritage aura to the room, but I was not expecting it at all, haha.)

I'm looking forward to spotting him in more of your videos, and I'll let you know what becomes of my sewing. (I originally wanted to upcycle an old dress of my mum but then got lost trying to decide whether I should use a pattern or just wing it, which is where I'm stuck now, hoping that a decision will magically manifest itself any day now haha.)

I literally bought a Leaf of Lothlorien brooch a couple years ago specifically to sew a hobbit cloak, then never got around to it!! With delicious Autumn now here, oh yes, will absolutely sew that ASAP!!! :)

As soon as I settle on a sketch for my elven circlet (have a whole board on pinterest with crown ideas that I have to choose and decide from!), and get the jewels, then have the time....yes, as soon as I am done I will send you a photo! :) It may end up a photo of me wearing it while draped in a hobbit cloak- until I get my Galadriel cosplay sewn someday! :)
