Yeah It was awesome... Rebirth definitely the best Green Arrow story in my book, Schmit & Feyrerra ( sorry if I misspelled ) arts also what makes it so good. I enjoyed Bensons sister run as well despite the arts, too bad it was sort lived.
Great Video: We don’t give enough praise to O’Neal and Adams enough love for their work here. Them lookin at their world and talking about it is very rare.
Judd Winick's run is criminally underappreciated. Month after month of solid storytelling, giving us an Arrow family dynamic that stands up to anything before or since. I particularly like the issue where Connor and Roy had a night off and decided to paint the town together (Roy took them to a strip club, Connor took them to a cool indie book store, and they stopped a convenience store robbery together using their different M.O.'s). Just a really good character issue.
yeah! the Judd Winnick run is awesome!! the whole deal with star City trapped in a magic dome, patrolled by law demons? great! the whole Brick storyline? golden.
In the Silver Age, GA's only major post 1964 new stories were in the JLA (and a couple of B&B Team-ups). He was redesigned by Neal Adams in B&B # 86 in 1969 and Denny O'Neil made him a key figure starting in JLA # 75.
the Judd Winnick run immediately after the Archer's Quest that builds on the Smith and Meltzer stuff is really good as well. Green Arrow is my favorite superhero, and I feel like if a script could capture the actual character we've seen in the comics, not just broody batman analog man, (not Amell's fault, that tv show is poorly written) a pretty great movie could be made about angry self righteous social justice eco warrior Ollie.
Along with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman, Green Arrow was in publication (though generally as a backup feature) throughout the 40's and 50's, unlike most other heroes.
The best Green Arrow Runs .Green Arrow By O'Neil & Adams .Green Arrow By Grell .Green Arrow By Smith & Meltzer .Green Arrow By Lemire .Green Arrow By Perey & Schmet
Green Arrow is the best and awesome i loved the New 52 run of his so much the show along with that run of the comic which took some stuff from the show was two of the reason Green Arrow is one of my favorite Superheros i am so sad to see the show ending after next years season
I generally don't have problem with hero deaths and resurrection. After all "hero never dies" ;D What I consider as problem though is when heros die for cheap shocking value and are resurrected immediately after that. If hero end his journey he should end it in epic way (and not like Ted Kord) and where he is resurrected is during legit reboot, not immediately after event.
I tend to think that eventually characters have to die - after all, it will be several generations since WWII- just how long can Steve Rogers BE Captain America? If you want to revive a hero revive their legacy but let someone else become that hero (Terry McGinnis in Batman Beyond for example).
They need to stay after a while. Then it becomes an overkill. Professor X and Jean Grey died too much. 😪👎🥱🥱🤮😴😴 So boring. Then bringing back Destiny and other annoying characters. Cop outs. Death means nothing,
Green Arrow was (is?) my favorite character. What damn reboot did to him is what finally made me quit buying DC, and eventually comics altogether. What made GA special? His personality. His many flaws. He was undoubtly heroic, but also so very capable of letting people down. That made him interesting, made him stand out in a world of paragons. What the hell was that New 52 shithead? I couldn't stand him! For DC to whipe the slate clean like that, that was the stupidest thing they could've done. They lost me, probably forever. The way things are looking it seems I wasn't the only one.
New 52 was terrible on SO many levels. All of Batman's history happning in the span of five years(meaning he had one Robin per year, lol) Green Arrow being trash, GA/BC not being canon, the first Teen Titans being formed by Tim Drake (TF?). But Ollie got MUCH better once Rebirth came along
Amany Ekongolo Bebe Agreed. As a kid it was Marvel all the way, I had very little use for DC. But when I grew up that changed. Because in DC you could feel the weight of history in a way I felt you couldn't in Marvel. DC's story spanned generations. They did away with their greatest strength! I've heard Rebirth is good, but they probably would have to put everything back more or less the way it was to bring me back.
@@mikaelolofsson2852 I still have no clue why they don't bring the Justice Society back, they keep teasing them, but they never go all the way. You'd think a company would be proud to have the first superhero team ever made under their banner, but i guess they don't know in what story they should use them
Lemire run was good in the New 52. Gritty and violent. Beginning of the run was crap. Made him younger like the show. ,52 made all the heroes younger. Dumped sidekicks. Weird reboot
Either longbow hunters or the Kevin Smith one calling it before watching it. EDIT: was mainly wrong as although they mainly mentioned Kevin Smith they mainly talked about brad metlza’s run.
I actually only read this run simply because I'm fan of Kevin Smith both on his podcast Fatman on Batman and his comedy special Silent but Deadly. That being said would definitely be down to watch a Green Arrow movie by Smith. Perhaps rework Escape from Super Max for the DCEU mix the return of Oliver Queen with Suicide Squad.
A 12 minute video on GA comics and you talk for 1 minute about Oneil/Adams and Grell runs and the rest on Smith and Meltzer runs??????? Should be the other way around. You have failed this video!!!!!
I kind of like the idea of Green Arrow being a well read leftist on the side. More like the Frankfurt school than Tumblr. He's just not preachy about it.

Jeff Lemire’s Run on the new 52 was classic I loved it I have it digitally and Physically

In my opinion Percy's Rebirth run is the best Green Arrow run ever, 6 volumes of greatness

I seem to remember that. I think I read everything from the resurection to DC borking up their whole damn universe.

I realy disliked Winnick BEFORE his GA run. But I thoroughly enjoyed him on Green Arrow.
Ryphius Rabenfuß Winnick’s Under the red hood and Red Hood Lost days is really good
You are not the emerald archer, you are only his quiver.
Genuinely thrilled you mentioned this run. I loved it thoroughly and it doesn't get mentioned often.
So many good aspects of this character.
I can't be the only one who sees Captain America before he took the super soldier serum

not mike grell.you have failed your city.
Actually a great video and look into Green Arrow, well done WhatCulture Comics!
I need to read some older GA comics now that the Rebirth GA series just finished its run. I really enjoyed it, and this gives me a place to start.
Y’all gotta put his mic in the middle of his shirt!
I was always a green arrow fan and a John Constantine fan as well green arrow is one of those characters I really like from DC comics
Not even punctuation can save that.

Create a petition to change Green Arrow’s hideout name from the Arrow Cave to the Quiver.
Kevin Smith NEEDS to write more comics. He has written definitive runs on Green Arrow and Daredevil.
Read Batman - Widening Gyre or Spider-Man/Black Cat - The Evil That Men Do and reconsider. :P

"VVD beard." Love that. YNWA
IDK, Quiver is overrated imo. The pacing is lopsided and the scripts far too wordy. Outside of Grell, the Judd Winick Green Arrow run is fantastic.
when I got back into comics in the 2000s, I loved Kevin Smith's initial run (Quiver) and its take on various characters in the DCU
The only book I read was Jeff Lemire’s and Andrea Sorentino (i think it’s how it’s spelled). I thought that Tun was amazing!
Maybe Oliver & Felicity will retire to Seattle and open Sherwood Florist at the end of "Arrow."

Oliver Queen is Miller Lite compared to Batman's Irish Carbomb breakfast
