I hate doing valve covers. I have done Subaru’s Toyota ‘bmw’s Range Rover ‘s , vw’s gm’s mercedes lancer , Peugeot but the most thing I hate is There a banch of things to remover just for a gasket
I worked at a Tool & Mold shop for 40 years, where I worked with every German automotive company yo can think of. They had & have to go with NEW technology, using plastics for weight & economic reasons or they wouldn't be in business today. BMW & all automotive companies for that matter, have moved from heavy expensive metals to lighter Plastics, not only on the mechanical side but also for the aesthetic body parts. The one area that every car manufacturer has issues with is "seals/gaskets"....but cars have always leaked as far back as I can remember. If you want to get away from the leaks, then buy an electric car. Then you have a whole bunch of other issues.
Thanks for your videos, I have F15 x5 35i recently replaced main battery due to battery aged code. Wondering if you recommend replacement of auxiliary battery as well? I am not sure if there will be aged battery code for the aux battery, I am hesitant to replace aux battery as it is uncommon size and I read in service manual its only used for hvac rest and rear heated seat function.
Was able to get that VC installed with no issues. Only problem I had was a stripped coolant flange thread but got that all fixed as well. Thanks for the videos and replies to my questions.
thank you for info on alluminum was thinking going alu but thanks to your video i wont now consequently my oem valve cover is still holding up on my n54 129,000
Hi, i love your videos! They have been helping me with my own repairs on my bmw. Do you have any idea why my e70 makes a buzzing noise every 2 seconds or so? I hear the buzzing noise when the car is both on and off; its barely noticable when the car is on due to the other sounds, but when the car is off, its very prominent. It would keep buzzing for 5 minutes after I turn off the car. Other than this noise, the car runs fine! No check engine lights or codes!
Hey buddy!! I changed my n52 valves cover, valvetronic, oil filter housing and oil pan gaskets from elringo 5 days ago, and i did that exactly to specs torques and following your videos, today i noticed a bit of oil leak or kind of sweat coming from the side of the engine on the 2 valves cover bolts that down the valvtronic, im just wondering have you ever had that experience? before i undo everything to get to know where its exactly leaking from thank you mannn i love your videos so useful
Most likely valvetronic motor seal is not sitting right, but wait a little observe don’t jump into conclusions possible that it is just excessive oil. Clean it up and see if anything comes back
@@Zeiten what i noticed earlier today, that the oil is not leaking from the top, it’s one of the cover bolts that’s sweating and kinda of tiny leaking, im not sure if i could torque it more than its already torqued to 9nm, any suggestions mate?? Thank you very much
Hi Tim! ty for all your videos that you has posted AND Im sure you helped many many people including myself! and also for answering my Questions on my 2013 x5 35i E70. you have helped me many many times ty! Question::: my n55 ... for example>> if for some strange reason the i had a Problem ( or felt like i had a valvetronic motor issue) valvetronic motor problem. and had to drive back home to the city, can I just disconnect the electrical plugin connector on the valvetronic ?? Or do i have to unplug the cam sensor also to be able to drive the vehicle a 4 hour drive back home in the city? I did hear that you had to disconnect the cam sensor also, if not the vehicle would not drive or start?? can you clarify this question about a disconnected valvetronic and would it damage my n55? ty SIR
In severe cases disconnecting valvetronic motor might be beneficial but if you do have an issue with the car will go into limp mode on its own. Disconnecting camshaft sensor absolutely not necessary and even bad idea i would say.
@@Zeiten O ok i just asked this intriguing question ( i dont have any problems with mine knock on wood) .i read of people saying that you can just unplug the valvtronic motor and a cam sensor and drive "normally" to wherever you are going and get a new valvtronic motor replace . i feel it was a question i needed to ask and undersatand. and yes . gotcha. it will go into limp mode !! ty Tim Sir
@@Zeiten ,TY! This is the reason i ask you. nobody said anything about the vehicle going in "limp" mode. the understanding/saying was that, if the valvetronic motor failed, you can still drive the vehicle and NOBODY said limp mode, ,but thanks to you, a Qualified/Certified BMW Tech, has answered the question!! ty Tim! have a great weekend (dont break your car!!) lolol ty
@@Zeiten Hi Tim my 2013 bmw x5 35i ,yesterday just driving down the highway, light came on in the instrument dash panel. i checked codes with my Ancel- BM 700 reader, codes 32c9,32d7 32DF,32D9 ,32DA.32D8 Codes appeared, which means right side ABS sensor.the vehicle drives fine. question is::: im wondering of the (1) Ohms resistance if i was to check it on my vehicle?? (2) also can i check to see the A.C voltage from this sensor? how much should AC voltage should i see by spinning my wheel?? ( there is No noise from that left side wheel bearing, so it should be good) this area, where i live is a fair amount of rust and salt on the highways during winter and want to test before touching it, i will surely break the sensor if i try to take it out of the hub assembly.so i wanna do testing first and foremost. this vehicle has 197 thousand kilometers ty Tim for you comments and feedback and input!! ty
Hey, man i have a question i just found out oil inside the plastic tub connected to the throttle body and idk what could be the problem? i have a 2011 bmw x5 twin turbo by the way im new to the channel.
I assume it’s n55, most likely your crankcase ventilation is not functioning properly it’s built into valve cover so most likely it will need to be replaced. Something worth checking out
How come you never use torque spec in any of your videos ? For example with the oil pan gaskets don't you want to make sure everything is torqued right so you will never have to go back there again?
Hi I have a 2010 x5 xdrive30i with the N52 E70 and recently it’s started acting up on a cold start it will start up and then the rpm will go up and down for a second or two and turn off I can get it to run if I hold the rpm’s to 2500 for a fews second after start could this be a bad fuel pump any help would be great thank you
Since I watched all your videos about BMW I think you are the one that need to be trusted how can I bring my BMW x5 2012 to have it diagnose I have an excessive oil leak how can I approach you your long time fan and subscriber watching from LA

Thank you, 2wd is ok but awd is truly pain in the butt😁 i’ll be making videos soon for this job on different BMWs

Most likely not the fuel pump, look into vanos solenoids and of course scan the car first, impossible to tell without any data
@@ZeitenI forgot to mention I did scan the car there was no pending codes or check engine light on I will take a look at the vanos
Vanos solenoids/small o-ring on oil filter ca, possible air leaks, disa valves in some rare cases can be the reason too
Do you make house calls? can you come to my house for fixing?
Sure if you are in Los Angeles, that’s what i do every day😉
