Tim! This is Reed! The ex owner. This is my baby! Thank you for taking such good care of it. I fell on hard times and wasn’t able to care for it the way I used to! Also, tire after tire kept popping on me hence the weird layout!! Thanks for making this happen. I feel that this car was donated in a way to science and for the better good. Love that it lived in for everyone 🤓🙏🫡. Thank you!!!!🙏
It's a deal now and days. But like you said, doing it yourself is the only way to own a BMWs unless your a billion air. You can have it done, let's say not a problem. But for most of us who have the natural talent and know how, which most of us grew up doing sence we were kids. Now have the car we have always wanted but could not afford then. Now is the time to put that talent to work and save astronomical amounts of money on our dream car. Because after replacing any and all needed parts you might say self trained to perfection. Look at Dave kindig "bitchin rides". Now million air and self trained designer in the custom automotive field. Anyone can do it, it's what you can teach to everyone with a BMW and do the best thing, (save money) and never again visit that rip off dealer that only wants one thing, your money. Thank you Brother Technician for doing a very helpful service to everyone. For those who know, and most of all those who don't. Great channel Sir. Always, 23 year BMW Master Mechanic.
Yessss! Can’t wait to see the progress on this! It’s also super helpful to see you walk through all the issues. I’ve got a 2009 328i SULEV w/ 90k miles and this will undoubtedly come in handy.
Great project car! Looking for to the series. Your channel is my #1 source of DIY information for my kids' BMWs. Thanks to you, I've been able to do all the repairs myself. Keep up the good work!
fantastic project! 2 years ago, I didn't even know how to remove wheel lol and one day, i got quite junky 2008 bmw 328i with 1200$(non-drivable, no ignition, lots of missing parts(i.e. side mirrors etc). I've studied so hard on bmw and used "bimmerpost", "INFP bmw diagonsis tool", bmw service mannual, and millions of youtube videos(i.e. from zeitan or FCP euros etc). And For over 1.5 years,, i replaced over 65 parts in total, in practically most of parts that you need to change over time.., (including 100% of what you mentioned in this video lol ) , and now, man it runs as smooth as butter I haven't watched your recent video, but the first repair since i got this bmw was to replace "valve cover gasket" and your video was very helpful, especially tips for removing breather hose lol. IT SAVES ME TONS OF TIME FOR ANOTHER REPAIRS LATER(i.e remove intake manifold to replace my DISA/Starter/Crankshaft position sensor)!
I would expect a lot of the oil is leaking from the oil filter housing if one of the two top bolts is broken or missing. That is the most common cause of belt shredding. I work in oil leaks from the top down. The oil pan gasket is a last resort. Often a quarter turn on each fastener is sufficient to stop leaks unless the gasket is brittle. Good luck in the project!
It would be interesting to see a video on the convertible top. How it works, some issues as far as the mechanics, and potential water leak trouble spots etc.
I am looking forward to this! I as well have the 2011 N51! I would like to see rear shock absorber and mount replacement! I only have slightly over 100k miles on mine and would like to know more about the SULEV warranty! Are you able to share any thoughts on that! I have already got valve cover gasket replaced with an independent mechanic - but I wanted to know if BMW will honor the oil pan gasket ? Do you know? I live in Pennsylvania - and the car was first registered in New York.
Hi Tim, Can you talk about the AUC sensor? I have F26 replaced new updated Sensor but the code still shows up, different code. not sure why.. research online shows people dislike that sensor a lot and does not seem easy to fix..!
perfect timing bro, if youre doing shocks im interested to see that since i need that done soon lol. but nice car man and its worth it to save it especially if youre doing it yourself
I’ll second this. I don’t know what all needs to be replaced on mine but I’m nearing 100k miles and figure I’m getting close. Any overview on typical suspension work that has to be done would be great. I also have the sport package which makes it not as easy to find accurate info.
@LandonWest shocks and control arms coming soon, in the next video which will be posted on coming Monday i will point that out. As for repairing all of it diys are come very soon😉
Please record everything! Maybe make a spreadsheet of parts cost? I have a 328i e92 with 173,000 miles as well so i would love any content you do on the car! i think its a good buy, it looks pretty nice as is! Where do u buy your parts from? fcp euro is my go to, is that fine? Best of luck!
Will do, i’ll do full break down in the end and also in every video and diy, check out the e90 playlist on the channel, i do talk about parts in ever diy. Regarding fcp euro Ive had issue with their parts, i do have a wholesale supplier
Just found your channel. I DIY my bmws and have done all these jobs. If you love these cars and love DIY it's worth it. If you are trying to "flip" it might be tough to justify since all buyers are suspicious that these same repairs will need completed. The oil pan gasket (i've done 3) is a pain - not hard just laborious and dirty since everything is typically caked in oil. Would start with a smoke machine before taking anything off to see where that leak is coming from - if you're lucky it's the VCG which you're doing anyway. But it could also be a number of different sources. I don't look forward to removing that broken bolt! lol!! Look forward to your coming videos and sub'd
I have a 2011 328i N51! I get a shudder when coasting at low speeds at high speed it goes away i think its the toruwe converter but not sure would like to get ur option on it i was thinking of changing trans fluid and addid a shudder conditioner would u recommend thanks in advance car has 108k miles i also need to replace the radiator at the sensor is messed up and gave me a check engine 🤦🏻♂️ and the ibs
As for radiator it is covered under sulev warranty so check with your local bmw dealer (depending on what state you are in) as for shudder sounds like suspension issue to me and has nothing to do with transmission. Never ever add any additives to transmission, check your front control arms and tire threads as well as tire balance
@@Zeiten oh alr I will check out these things in the next few days thanks for the reply! Also it's like a shudder/vibration and the reason why I was thinking torque was because it happens in low speeds or whenever I slow down from let's say 60-80mph and drop to 30ish and try to accelerate again it does that shudder/vibration and feels sluggish the rev moves really slow until I really punch it
Yep and that was just a Honda Accord so I have no idea what the previous owner was thinking, those tires were like $70 a piece. But I was very young and didn’t know better to notice and replace them in time. I’m lucky to still be alive!
love that you got an N51 to play with! I drive a 2011 328i xdrive sedan w/ the N51. Looking forward to the content!
Thank you🙌

Very low mileage there are plenty of things that can go wrong but not necessarily will, if you have any questions just ask im here to help🙌
Great buy! I have the exact same engine and year, mine is a sedan though so I’m very excited to see more DIYs on this car

Looking forward to seeing the repairs
Coming soon, next Monday😉

LOVE THAT YOUR DOING this same car I got as well 2007 328i but 4D sedan 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🥇🥇🥇
E90 is my favorite platform🙌
I will be following this project since I have 09 E90 Sedan🫡

Mine always leaks on the pillars 🥲

Check with bmw of North America if your state has SULEV warranty. Oil pan gasket is not covered though anywhere. Rear shocks - noted😉
Always liked this convertible
👍
My $500 2001 BMW E46 cost me nearly $25,000 so far.

Great investment! And great content!
Please make a DIY video for E93 roof maintenance including seals and drains for leaks as well.
That’s a bit out of my wheelhouse but i’ll see what i can do👍
Can you show how to replace roof top lock sensor and locking mechanism micro switches for top ?
🤯most awesome channel 👏👏👏👏
Thank you🙌
Did you get a chance to scope the cylinders and review the maintenance history? Looking forward to your repair videos,
There is no maintenance history when getting into deals like that😁

Woohoo new episode
😁🙌
Can you do the radiator on that E93? I hear there are some braces for rigidity in the way that may make it more difficult to replace.
It is absolutely the same as in this video

Those extra braces are not on the way at all
@@Zeiten Thank you very much!

It usually happens after I drive the car for a while on cold starts it runs fine seems to happen when it gets warm
@youngace1229 check your driveshaft center support bearing and flex disc first
Would be great to see how you do a coolant flush/replacement of the mickey mouse flange, and also a brake fluid flush!

It is a fun project🙌
When I bought my first car all 4 tires were from different brands 😅 one bursted on a highway a few weeks later
Unfortunately I’ve seen this a lot🤦♂️
Yep and that was just a Honda Accord so I have no idea what the previous owner was thinking, those tires were like $70 a piece. But I was very young and didn’t know better to notice and replace them in time. I’m lucky to still be alive!
@JenyaFookleff i think most of is have been there once or twice😉
Do a rear shoe replacement/ebrake repair.
Oil pan gasket please
I t will be on the channel very soon😉
These become cheaper than even e46 models. E36 will be out of reach soon!
Market will correct itself, it is a natural e90 platform will be a bit more expensive than e46 soon
BMW is trash
