    I've noticed that on my WQHD screen that it does have a slight issue with ghosting. Also the 300 nits is alright and not dark at all but at full brightness on a sunny day it can seem a little bit dark. If your looking to buy this laptop keep an eye out on lenovos website for "real sales" and not the artificial permanent sales they have going year round. The deals usually come with various warranties at discounted prices and will actually be quite competitive with laptops in its price range. Great Review :)

      Thanks NeelHD for the extra information to other viewers. I have notice the same thing about the pricing of warranties guessing that's the easiest way to discount pricing without losing too much profit on the device itself. Thanks for the feedback mate =).

    Hey Bsian, thanks for the review, you covered every detail I was needing. I have a question about the ports that are right next to the HDMI port. You had a ethernet adapter, I was wondering if you could send a link to where I can purchase the same converter. Also, could you give a little more detail about those ports? (you start to talk about them at 3:20) Thanks again, great review!

      Hi Tomas Gatica, sorry getting back to you so late, TH-cam doesn't seem to give me all the comments to all my videos but here is a link to that ethernet adapter I mention in the video (www.lenovo.com/au/en/accessories-and-monitors/cables-and-adapters/adapters/CABLE-BO-Ethernet-Extension-Adapter-2/p/4X90Q84427). As for I was talking about the dock for that interesting port I did later did a review of one of those docks called the Lenovo Ultra dock you can check it out here where I talk about that port from the dock side (th-cam.com/video/Ld1k0Ows5N0/w-d-xo.html at the 4:30 mark). Hope this helps and thanks for the nice feedback mate.

    Thank you for the review. I watched your review of the ThinkPad P43s earlier. Between these two computers, which would be your go to laptop.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mark, both are very different laptops. The X1 is about lightness and P43s is more on power. I wished the 7th Gen has the 9th Gen cpu. If it did I would go with the X1 but because I do video editing the ability to put more RAM and discrete graphics is more beneficial to me so P43s would be my pick in my situation. If the X1 7th Gen had 9th Gen cpu then I would actually choose that over P43s as more cores CPU trumps over RAM for me.

    We need business laptops that will travel well and are light and have vpro and touchscreen. This one seems to be a winner but the price once we have it all as we want it is very high. What are the main reasons we should go with the 7th gen vs. the 5th (or 6th) gen that also uses vpro?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stephanie Holm, welcome to my videos. The main difference between the 5th to 6th Gen is the addition of the privacy shutter in the webcam and the bump up to 8th Gen Intel Processor. As for 6th to 7th Gen, the most noticeable difference is the speakers massively upgraded and relocation of power button to make room for the new speakers and that’s mostly it. This is one of the lightest laptops out there and of course there is a price for that too which is its con. Hope that helps.

    ThinkPad x1 carbon vs latitude 7400, which one would you choose?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      X1 carbon no questions ask if didn’t have to worry about money. Since both pretty much have similar spec the X1 carbon is insanely lighter and if it’s the 7th Gen then it’s also runs much more cooler and quieter too.

    Very detailed and to the point reviews. One thing I miss in your reviews is attention to the reflectivity of the screen. There is many laptops screens with either anti glare coating or glossy or glossy with ar filters. My observation is that most of them reflect too much. Lenovo has an anti glare screen but it is a very weird screen. I can see reflections all over and it is more annoying then glossy screens. I must say that only XPS and Apple can make glossy screens that are not as reflective and very pleasing to work on. Whatever coating they use works. Other glossy screens are like a mirror and it is hard to work on these laptops. Also all the new anti glare matte screens these days are not as sharp as older laptops. What is your opinion about glare on this laptop? For me it is a very disappointing screen for such a great laptop. Yes there is 4K glossy screen but it drains battery and it reflects too much due to lack of ar filter. Does anyone care about the reflectivity these days?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi bwspot, welcome to my videos. I have been thinking about your observation on reflective ness of the screen since the start as even I notice this majorly from all the different computers that passes through my hands. It’s been on my mind on how can I really make it easy to demonstrate or measure the reflectivity of a screen so can be compared instead of just giving my opinion on a rating scale which isn’t that great because I can only see a small portion of laptops available on the market. Your feedback though has brought this back on the plate for me to think of it more or better ideas on it. Thank you for the suggestion and feedback it’s great to get these to improve the reviews :).

      @@BsianTech thx for reply , what i was interested in was what was you opinion about x1 carbon screen where you were looking at it. Did you notice that strange glare?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blwegrzyn this is my opinion on the FHD touch screen, it is the matte look to it and yes the clarity does suffer compare to the glossy look but for me I prefer the matte look way more because I find it dealt with glare much better. As for the places where we are staring into the screen directly for the colour test section my lighting equipment is lighting pretty close about 1.5 meters away from the screen and set at a bit of strength. You shouldn't normally see this high crazy glare normally as your room lights won't be at that high strength or close distance.

    i have this one but with 6cores and 10gen cpu . this would be ok to edit video right?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Victor Castro, yes you can connect an egpu to the X1 Carbon 7th Gen and also it will be able to do video editing just beware as you add more layers and effects you will start to see lag and stuttering which is normal since there isn't any dedicated discrete graphics in this laptop and any laptop that doesn't have discrete graphics assisting the rendering of effects.

      BsianDad unfortunately all the reviews of every one of the recent Lenovo laptops that I’ve seen have massively over estimated the battery life, all the reviewers comment something like they have no idea how Lenovo get their quoted battery life.

  • @kushal710
    @kushal710 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I think the low power 400 nits 1080P screen will give you better battery life. I have that one and even though I have not tested it scientifically, I get around 8 hours of battery with normal use

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks good to know as we don't get the low power version normally at my work and it's nice to know what the realistic battery life is. I'm guessing your running under balance mode as well or battery saving mode in Windows? I like to sometimes know the method they get the advertised battery life times.

      Hi Vlad Es, if you are running the processor to its max at 100% utilization, example either encoding, data analysis you will only see two hours and bit of battery life. If you are running the laptop normally expect closer to 5-6 hours. I have a couple of these 7th Gen units and all have exhibit similar battery life, I have done futher testing on trying to install different power management software and drivers from Lenovo site and didn't get much better results. I have also contacted Lenovo on this and still working out how they can give a high advertised claim on the battery life.

    Thank you for your excellend review BsianDad. I was wondering if you had the chance to test the wqhd monitor (model LP140QH2-SPD1). I would prefer a higher resolution but according to notebookcheck.net the contrast is not good compared to the FHD (LP140WF9_SPF1) www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-2019-with-Full-HD-laptop-review-Brighter-and-longer-battery-life.434769.0.html . it looks like the FHD colors are better... Don't you miss retina resolution and high dpi? If you have any advise on this matter I would be very happy to have your opinion. I wish the wqhd hdr option was still available. Thanks again for this great review.

      Hi thierry cnam, welcome to my videos. I haven't got one of the WQHD models in yet as most of my clients perfer the FHD touch for functionality. I did a more in-depth look into the FHD touch display which you can check out here: th-cam.com/video/zwdV757Yf_A/w-d-xo.html . • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may find the FHD will do pretty good still in the clarity of the fonts but of course it won't beat WQHD DPI. The other thing to note as I see this often a lot on very high res small display is the scaling on some apps are really awful no matter random application specific fixes to try fix scaling. Windows scaling has always been pretty average and its one of the reason why the FHD is used a lot. MacOSX does one fantastic job on display scaling while maintain such high dpi but that is Apple. I have see the 6th Gen WQHD before and it is nice for photos for sure but that's because of the glossy screen type that adds more clarity as well.
