      Hey Moron, get your facts straight. The Mustang Shelby GT 500 is 662 hp and it is also lighter. Learn before you type some shit. Makes you look stupid. And um, if you consider a man in his 40s to be a kid then you must be a grandpa you douche. The GT is 435 hp not 436.

    • @austinphelan6374
      @austinphelan6374 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      At least the Challenger was designed and engineered by Americans. Unlike the mustang that was designed in part with other countries!

      Austin Phelan
      If you think ANY American car is designed and engineered by Americans alone then you have a lot to learn my man. Also, fyi, the MUSTANG has never been discontinued unlike your Charger and unlike Camaro's. Here ya go---The Bail out crisis in the United States is mainly defined by the government rescue of both General Motors and Chrysler. Ford didn't need, and didn't receive any funds, it also didn't want its competition to get the upper hand thanks to the government bailout. Enough Said....

    I think the Challenger is a better platform. It's a real muscle car with its big heavy ass and ability to shred the tires off using up to 707 HP. It doesn't need a fancy feature that locks up the front wheels like the Mustang has. You get more car and a better ride for your money.

    When the mustang , camaro, and challenger came out in their " retro " skins... The goal was to make it as close to the original as possible: looks, horsepower of the old version with the convenience of today's tech and picky buyers...
    Only one has kept that... The Challenger
    Mustang will change the look of a car after they get the opinion of a handful of 16 y/o girls
    Camaro , a handful of Guido's hanging out on 8 mile...
    But not Challenger...
    Dodge knows what you want in a muscle car...retro or otherwise...
    Challenger FTW

    At $38,495. the Challenger RT Scatpack with it's 485HP engine not only beats the 2015 GT Mustang and 2015 Camaro SS in the 1/4 mile drag race (which is what muscle cars are for) it also seats 5 people with plenty of trunk room and the best interior materials. Why would anyone buy anything else??? ;o)

      It's the under dog just like the F150 yet Ford murders both markets. They just wanna see em go down with an L. But I agree with you. Edmunds is always biased and makes stupid rules to declare winners as you just saw here. Edmunds videos do that to all the cars that are clearly the peoples choice. It's weird. I really want to unsubscribe but I love cars. Lol

    • @moparjoel1
      @moparjoel1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      sweetcheels Underdog?..Mustang hah! those two words should never be in the same sentence it has always dominated the market. no way can a mustang be considered a under dog. And Im more of a F150 guy over GM, but Chevy + GMC trucks together out sell Ford. thats the only way Ford gets away with saying they have the number one selling truck. If you want to go Underdog Its Dodge. The Challenger is the current Underdog destroying the competition in performance. and they said mustang wins in looks?… yeah right I like the last gen mustangs they look killer but the New one has the be the ugliest pos on the market there is no way they can compare it to the gorgeous curves of the Challenger.

    • @sweetcheels
      @sweetcheels 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      moparjoel1 why should it be fair for GMC and Chevy to claim the title for selling the same truck pretty much. Of course 1+1=2 meaning both companies added beats one. As far as the Stang, I didn't mean it was literally the under dog but more so an under dog when it comes to the expectation to it to lose in every video IT SEEMS. Like comparison videos will always say something about the Stang that's nice then follow it by a huge but or give the other company a 2 up. That was my observation. Lol

      It's an entire second faster 0-60. It handles corners waaay better than a Challenger. In my opinion it looks 10x better because the challenger has looked the same for the past 10 years. My dad has a 2015 Challenger scat pack with almost 500 horsepower and I pull on him in my 2013 mustang gt. And his cost almost $20,000 more.

    Mustang boys will never change. A big reason I sold my old Fox. The R/T Challenger has never been a max effort racer. They've added the Scat Pack to bridge the gap between the RT and SRT cars. It's faster than the GT. And the GTs on the lot down the street from me are ALL more expensive than the Scat Packs are going for next door.
    The Challenger is a mans car that has a real life with a family. The Mustang is for the single guy with no family.

    • @Texarmageddon
      @Texarmageddon 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Real man with a family would have just ponied up and just got an SRT8 Jeep or a CTSV....
      Yet, just to be clear.... The Challenger Scat Pack STARTS at 38,000... Quit looking at the used section in the Dodge dealers man. That or Dodge can't move any of those damn things off the lot so they're discounting them heavily.

    • @blueduster74
      @blueduster74 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      A loaded Scat Pack is 44k. I've seen cloth seat GTs for 44k. Mark up maybe. The Scat Packs are all gone for this year until the Chargers this spring.
      And I have a bug as SUV already. It's a real 4x4 that I do hard stuff in. I don't want a SRT Jeep and sure as hell don't want a Caddy.

    • @24thMandark

      It's due to a more basic valve train OHV vs DOHC in the mustang. The challenger makes more torque though.

    • @24thMandark
      @24thMandark 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Carneiro Not necessarily the brand new LT1 in the corvette is OHV and it's plenty modern. They just need to add direct injection to the challenger and some more advanced ignition timing. Then use the new 8 speed transmission to offset the fuel efficiency problems that would generate.

    This was dumb. The Mustang has changed it's looks SO many times.. You end up liking a body style finally.. then Ford changes it again.. The Challenger has done very little to change the way it looks. Same body shape since it started. Who knows.. maybe in a few years it'll change a little. But it won't be as much as the Mustang.

    I'm going to be honest and say that I owned three mustangs before I finally bought my 2015 Challenger. Reason? Just too many soccer moms, young boys and young girls drive Mustangs. That coupled with which I agree with too now is that the 15 Challenger just looks like a MUSCLE car which the new Mustang does not. Don't get me wrong the new Mustang looks ok but many agree that it's just a beefed up Fusion. Challenger wins hands down in the new body styling. Camaro isn't even in the conversation. That 15 Camaro is just ugly now, imo.

    they're both nice. I like the challenger's room. But its not fair to compare a 435hp car to a 375hp car for performance. I think Dodge has a lot of room with the base hemi that they aren't taking advantage of for some reason.

    I have test drove both of them, but ended up with the Challenger. There are some things I like about the Mustangs over the Challenger and vice versa. The Mustang is a more "sheek" car to me. It is smaller and drives very light (almost like a fusion on steriods and crack because its VERY FAST) however, the challenger is slightly bigger (inside and out) and drives smoother. It has a more masculine and classic look. Either one is a good choice.

    1. Mustang, b/c there's a convertible.

    86. Camaro, it's better than the Spark, not by much.

  • @Z31Turbo
    @Z31Turbo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Despite the Mustang being faster and lighter than the Challenger R/T, esp with only the 5.7L, the new Mustang GT is by far one of the most boring cars I have ever driven. Whereas even with the 5.7L when you mash on that pedal you feel like you are giving the car a purpose and you are in control of the fun. The Mustang, you mash on the pedal and it seems to just go "oh, well, I guess if I have to" and you start to steadily accelerate, no sudden bursts of speed or anything. I ended up going with an R/T scat pack and the 6.4L in plum crazy purple and smiles per gallon this car gets is something I bet even the GT350R would struggle to achieve, though I've not driven one of those.

    • @Z31Turbo
      @Z31Turbo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +steve mcmillan it depends, a challenger scat pack or any with the 6.4l automatic is slightly faster, the manual is a little bit slower. They are so close though I wouldn't care about it. To me it's which offers the better driving experience and is more fun to drive. That is by far a scat pack with a manual, which is why I got one. Heck, it's slower than my C6 Corvette but it's about 100x more fun.

    • @CRST3V3
      @CRST3V3 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Z31Turbo i'm just saying that in every video i see challengers smoke mustangs, and they are ful as hell to drive, especially on long back roads where you can floor it.

    That's why I got a Challenger: the looks. It looks like a bad-ass car from the '70s...a true muscle car
    body. The mustang is going toward a wimpy coupe look and has lost its style it used to have; the same mistake they made for twenty-five years between 1979 and 2004.

      +Tracey Lee Yea, it almost looks like it, but way more plastic and cheesy-nes. Why not go get an actual '70 challenger? It not only looks nicer, sounds nicer, and is way more interesting, they're a lot more fun.

    The Challenger is a muscle car and the Mustang is a pony car that is now a proper sports car. Pick your poison.
    I sat in a Challenger and did not like the size of it. I also don't like it's plain body lines although the '15 is marginally better. I do like that it has an 8 speed auto, and the styling choices are many. I drove the Mustang and it just fit for me. The rear seat headroom is the only thing I did't like. Maybe good for kids. I'm older and 90% of the time it's just me and maybe the wife too in our cars. The front seats and legroom in the Ford are excellent and would be fine on a long trip. The Mustang is a real head turner. Ford did an excellent job building a 21st century car that has just enough 1960s styling cues. The Camaro is absolutely horrible in regard to visibility. To me that's a basic need for a daily driver so I disregarded that choice.
    Compare base V8 models when shopping or else you are comparing apples to oranges. There's always a more expensive model to choose from.

    My only real complaint is that I feel the R/T should be closer (performance-wise) to the GT for the price you pay for them. I love how the Challenger looks over the latest Mustang but they are so incredibly inferior performance wise. It's like Dodge said "Let's make it a cruiser that can do well in a drag race.....but not as well as our direct competition. For them we'll make our enthusiasts pay closer to $40k. This is not balanced. There is literally no way to justify this in any logical sense. You want to compare apples to apples etc? I've heard it said that the "R/T is the middle of the pack" option. This cracks me up. It's a base V8...I get that...yet the base V8's from Ford and Chevy are the same through their lineups and still so much more powerful. It seems so incredibly unfair that Dodge enthusiasts have to cough up closer to 40k to truly compete with the low to mid 30k offerings from Ford and Chevy.

      Doesn't matter. They are same class vehicles. Not Ford's fault Dodge didn't put enough muscle in their heavier muscle car. If you want to compare a mustang to a Hellcat you would at least have to use a GT350 preferably supercharged.

    People are driving me nuts talking down that ecoboost 4, the challenger rt featured here has a 0-60 of around 5.2-5.3... The new ecoboost mustang has a 0-60 of around 5.5, its got two less cylinders and its still not that far off from the challengers performance. I'm wanting to place my order on the stang soon but I need a winter car first. The only problem I have with the mustang is that its still being advertised as a muscle car... I think the stang is one of the hottest cars out right now but its too refined and capable, I think its more of a GT car now. If were talking muscle cars the challenger wins hands down

    Keep in mind the Challenger Scat Pack is 1.4L larger in displacement and still we are talking a small amount of 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times. There is still that weight issue though, especially with a bigger engine. So I wouldn't be surprised to see mustangs still holding there own against a scat pack in the quarter mile. I still think it's amazing to see how much power is squeezed out of that small Ford 302 engine. Another thing is the Dodge has 7!!! different challengers to choose from like the sxt, sxt plus, rt, rt plus, rt scat pack, srt 392 and hellcat. Ford right now just has the the 4 cyl, the 6 cyl and the gt for 2015. I'm sure more will come next year.

    As a former Mustang GT owner (2010 Mustang GT) - one of my all time favorite cars of over 50+ cars I've owned in my 48 years - I sold my 2010 in hopes of purchasing a new Stang. I stopped at a Ford dealer to purchase a 2015 and couldn't get past the new Euro look. UGGHHH. You cannot tell a v6 from a GT - other than the GT badge :(
    Please don't misunderdstand - I am not opposed to new design - I prefer the progression of a car, but the new Mustang is ugly - it looked weak in person - I was so disappointed.
    On my way home, I passed a Dodge dealer and decided to stop in on a whim (I never even thought of a Challenger before this) to check a Challenger out. As I started the test drive, I have to admit, I was IMPRESSED! I NEVER thought I would like it- I LOVED IT! As a huge Stang fan, I couldn't believe the difference!
    The best way to describe it:
    MUSTANG - Quick, nible, fun.
    CHALLENGER - Raw, Visceral, and muscle. Seemed much better built and heavy in a good way.
    IF you are in the market at all for this type of car, do yourself a favor and try them both and see.
    This is a GREAT time in auto history - Muscle car mayhem! Awesome!!!!

    Test drove both ot these two plus the camaro this past weekend trying to make a decisions on which would be the better buy and I gotta say I was expecting way more from the mustang based of the reviews and videos online.. I honestly wasn't expecting much at all from the challenger but holy fuck it blew my socks off. The roar made me moist. The mustang was just and mere .. meh.. plus I'm 6'1 and the mustang was so sadly to small. While the challenger was roomy and truly comfortable. The camaro on the other hand was just one big plastic mess of an interior. I to plan on having people in my ride so I think I'm going to lay my money on the challenger plus with the scat pack available holy guacamole that's more power then I'll ever need. Enrique Marino I've been driving a 2010 Challenger R/T 5.7 since new. Great looking car but thought about looking at something different. I've owned several Camaro's and Firebirds and the new Camaro sucks royally. The new Mustang 5.0 rode very good but driving position a bit low and a looooong hood. Made me wonder if I would hit the nose when parking. Drove the Chevy SS, I REALLY DO LIKE THE CHEVY SS. It felt nimble like the Mustang and Roomy like the Challenger. If I get a new 15 Challenger it will be a 392 Scatpack Shaker. or an SRT. If you want people to notice you get the Challenger, it makes everything else invisible

    • @EstebanCamacho
      @EstebanCamacho 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** mustang is definitely faster at the GT level. The scat pack automatic is faster than the manual in the challenger.
      You also have to remember Ford has BY FAR the most efficient engine. They are doing as much with a 5 liter displacement as dodge is doing with a 6.4 liter displacement.
      That engine gets significantly more horsepower than the mustang, but because the challenger is so gigantic, the mustang can keep up easily.
      I've races my.mustang GT (2015) with a fe w of the 6.4 challengers. It is a very, very close race every time. With me winning half the time and him the other half.

    • @EstebanCamacho
      @EstebanCamacho 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      johnnieace45 disagree with the looks thing. I have yet to meet in person someone who prefers the looks of a challenger over my mustang. I would agree with you if the 2015 mustang didn't exist. Years prior, yes, challenger was very good looking.
      As it is now I would say challenger is the ugliest of the three muscles. Camaro and Mustang both do a great job of mixing retro with modern styling. Challenger is simply all retro I think. Not a lot of curves at all and a very underwhelming design. Not a lot of lines and even the interior is meh.
      Not to say it isn't good looking, it just isn't as refined as camaro or the new mustang.

    The R/T does not require premium fuel. The SRT does, I know because I own SRT Challenger. This is not a good match as far as power and suspension. The R/T produces 370hp and the GT has 60hp more hp so its not really fair comparison here. It would be a completely different story if we where comparing an SRT with sport tuned suspension, handling is excellent and refined with 485hp. SRT vs. GT?, game over. So my answer to the question, Mopar all day and night >direct connection< baby

    the challenger requires middle grade gasoline or better. and has a better interior by far. yes its suppose to remind you of the other dodge vehicles but it it still has its own independence.(from 2008-2010 i couldn't say that, but know i can). u can't just take parts from the charger and put it on the challenger other than obvious things. great video.
