The dialogue with Para-Medic about the magic of movies is special because it's Kojima speaking his personal philosophy on film. Growing up with his dad, every night after he got home from school, finished his homework and had dinner, the two of them would watch a movie together. No matter how long it was, they would sit together and watch it to it's end before little Hideo would go to sleep. It was that way until he was well into high school. The man loves movies. And Para-Medic is gonna take you through the films that inspired him throughout his life.
Replaying it along with Chat and witnessing Audrey's first time with it has really solidified it has one of my favorite games of all time. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Anthony
Thank YOU for the kind words and for taking the time to watch our VODs! We had a lot of fun playing the games and it makes us happy to hear that you enjoyed watching us! -Anthony
Hey, I'm just drunk on a Saturday night and I looked up playthroughs of MGS 'cuz I haven't done so in like 2 years. I'm super excited to have found your channel; I love how engaged Audrey is and appreciate how careful you're being about spoilers and such. Also, major God-tier move to play on the original console! I know if I were to stream I would just be lazy and use my PS3 for everything, lol. Anyway, thanks for uploading all of these streams to TH-cam, I'm really excited to go back and watch all the games over the coming weeks!
We're so glad that you found our channel and are enjoying the VODs!! We sincerely appreciate the kind words, and hope you have a great time here! -Anthony
1:37:25 "He flubbed it!? Ocelot...he's young...." That was my exact reaction first time. On later replays (spoiler for anyone reading who hasn't finished) my jaw hit the floor when I realised he probably jammed his gun deliberately to let you escape ("testing a technique you've only heard about in battle wasn't very smart - you were *asking to have your gun jam on you*"). Young, but damn that guy is a good quadrouple-double-reverse agent :P
@@reyony Yep! Same with the running out of bullets schtick later. The replay thing is an interesting aspect of storytelling that I think a lot of modern games have lost - many of ye olde (aka pre youtube games) like MGS and the FF's deliberately had stories that required multiple playthroughs to appreciate properly (ala how every conversation in the first half of FF10 had the subtext of Yuna's fate that first time players don't realise and really changes the meaning once you know), but in modern ones that's kinda gone...or replaced with extremely convoluted FNAF or Soulslike "lore" (not bad, but different style). Modern media landscape, I guess...back then, you had to replay the entertainment you had over and over...now, we can barely keep up with the flood of new "content"...a state that's very MGS2, of course :P Mind you, between immediately calling out the Boss, immediately placing The Sorrow, and being suspicious of EVA because of the password thing, Audrey was once again *on point* with this playthrough! Looking forward to continuing!
This game is SO important for this generation right now. With everyone trying to kill or cancel everybody, it's a perfect time for the new generation to learn we're all just people, living on this planet called Earth and treat each other as such.
Every time I watch the opening and that music kicks in as the C-130 Hercules bay opens up, my blood gets pumping. Epic music! >:D I always though it is wierd that the characters kneel down when using the Codec. Like...why can't you stay standing? lol
@@reyony Trust me, you won't regret it. I've had good laughs watching it. Unfortunately it's only on Subsistence version of MGS3 for PS2 (The HD remaster for PS3/PS4 had it removed) or you can watch youtube for it.
@@DarthDragon007 All good, we own and played original physical copies on original hardware of both the Substance and Subsistence versions of MGS2 and MGS3! So when it comes time, we'll be ready! -Anthony
The Boss was strong AF. She was carrying the Davy Crockett and it's Launcher in their cases no problem. The Launcher should be at least 108 lbs and the warhead is at least 50 lbs. And that's not including the weight of each case. The Boss to Snake: That arm still hurt? Me: You broke it and it's only been a week, yea it still freaking hurts.
Snake eater was my fav as well n also my intro to metal gear series, which till today i am thankful as i originally not a fan of stealth game (mainly bcoz i bad at one😂😂😂) therefore i usually avoid this genre...

Yes, such an awesome character! Please be careful about spoilers for the later games in the comments here, though, in case we have viewers and commenters that are coming along for Audrey's "first playthrough" experience! -Anthony
So the Metal Gear Solid film is potentially going to be live action. They have already cast Oscar Issacs as Snake. It's not known whether he is going to play Snake, or do his voice as if it were animated. I think he's a terrific actor and if they do live action, I'm sure he could nail Snake down. I for one though am excited to see it as a live action, and I honestly don't know why I like that idea more than animated. Part of it I think definitely has to do with the fact that, the games are already basically half game half movie, and obviously the cutscenes are animated. So it basically already exists as an animated movie kinda lol I like the idea of a highly stylized live action approach, kinda like the Watchmen film (which I absolutely loved). I think all the supernatural elements would be much more... interesting I'll say, if they were paired with a live action setting. Like it's this very serious series about nuclear war and genetics and eugenics and corruption and double crossing and heroism and right and wrong and morality and making choices that define you, and I think having that grounded in live action, with fantastical stylized supernatural elements on top of it, kind of flowing through it would be super interesting. Perhaps it's the suspension of disbelief that makes me gravitate towards a live action over animated as well. As it is a very serious topic, it's sets a different tone to have it animated with the supernatural elements because I guess such elements might feel like natural to the animated setting whereas in a live action realistic setting they would seem much more out of place and therefore much more fantastical. Like it's not as hard to suspend the disbelief that you are watching a movie if it's live action as opposed to animated, even if one can make an animated film about something based on actual events. Now it might be harder to take seriously as a live action, but I think if they get the cinematography right, do a lot with the lighting and using shadows and negative space, I think it can elevate it really profoundly. I mean of course if I had to pick my own director for the movie, it would absolutely be Christopher Nolan. I mean imagine a Metal Gear Solid movie directed by Christopher Nolan?! It would be like if Inception meets The Prestige meets Batman meets Tenet. If I'm being honest, I just picture Snake in Alaska in his sneaking suit, in the shadows, partly lit, and just seeing like his breath against the dark lighting, along with some of his face and his bandana, and it just feels more - thrilling, as live action than animation if that makes sense. I think it would be very interesting to see how an actor brings to life such a stoic and determined individual like Snake, someone who doesn't complain, who confronts the situation no matter how unwinnable it may seem, who endures traumatic injury in the hopes that others won't have to. I am very excited to see many iconic scenes played out in live action. The one that always comes to my mind first, is the scene after you kill sniper wolf, and Otacon asks, "Snake! What was she fighting for? What am I fighting for? What are YOU fighting for?!" To which Snake replies in what I think - is one of the best written lines in the whole series, so in tune with him as a character and the tone of the game, even the future games, "If we make it through this - I'll tell you!" Just thinking about that being performed in live action gives me chills, way more than thinking about it being animated lol but hey maybe that's just me. Or the scene where Snake comes truly face to face with Rex right before the battle, and as the lift brings them both higher, the camera has a close up of Snake's feet and pans up his sneaking suit, gets to his face when the lift stops, his head down eyes closed and then open just as the lift stops and then a different shot from behind Snake showing his little self looking up contrasted with the immense size of Rex. Ahh more chills!! It's also not known if it is just going to be the first game, or if it will be a movie about the series. The latter - I think would be so incredibly fantastic. I mean don't get me wrong a film that's basically a telling of the shadow moses incident specifically is terrific, but if they made it about the whole series, with moments from each game flowing into other moments in the next scene, like the film Cloud Atlas - I think would be absolutely perfect. I mean I honestly cannot think of a better way to do it. Everything throughout all the games is connected, whether it be the same situations accompanied by the same actions of different individuals, or the same situations accompanied by opposing actions by individuals - kind of like how Big Boss makes his decisions and how Snake makes different ones in the same circumstance. I think if the film kinda highlights Big Boss and Snake as the absolute central protagonists, and explores their subtle similarities and their defiant distinctions, the fact that they are genetically the same individual but couldn't be more polar opposite, as kind of the main flowing theme it could be really breathtaking. As a huge fan, sometimes I wish, as I'm sure most do, that I could like sit down with Jordan Vogt-Roberts the director and be like I think you could make a really fantastic, beautiful, breathtaking masterpiece if you do it like this. There is a video, called Metal Gear Solid: Now and Forever | Ultimate Saga Trailer that I would recommend he watch to get a feel for how to flow the stories of all the games together. I would also recommend that you guys watch it after you get done the series. It is a lovely video that I won't lie, brings tears to my eyes every single time I watch it. It's so empowering and invigorating and just fantastic. I hope the film doesn't stay in development hell, and I hope it gets made before, you know, society collapses... I'm only half joking.. ha..ha.. *sigh* Also I apologize for such long comments. I can't help it. I believe anything worth saying is worth saying in full 😊 "To spread the word. To fight for change. That's what keeps me alive!"
