    great video. if i were you i'd keep it. fun to watch you work on it. i'd like to see your set up for the outside sandblasting sometlme. check the rubber boot that goes over the shifter down to the transmission. a new one could help keep water out. thanks.

      The outside blaster set up is a still a work in progress. Works great sometimes, and not at all the rest of the time lol! Good idea about the shifter boot! I was actually wondering if a late model auto cv axle boot would fit the bill!

    Really digging the channel and content. I was a huge wheelhorse fan. Me,my dad, and my granddad had them. Now just remember my experience was from the late 80s. My local dealer was always a pain in the ass back then. I think mine was a 314. It had transmission issues. Went to my dealer and i wanted a service manual, i fixed it without a manual. They wouldn't sell me one because they wanted to repair it. He was a real dick. After that we all bought 3 new john deeres and never went back. I really like wheelhorse, but we never went back to that dealer. They are still in business selling toros but ill stick to my john deere. Hope to see some more wheelhorse vids on your channel, keep up the great work!!

      Thanks for the kind words! I got bit by the wheel horse bug a couple years ago and haven’t looked back! I’m extremely grateful for guys with a passion for this hobby because almost every repair/service/parts diagram can be found online free of charge nowadays !

    • @Rein_Ciarfella
      @Rein_Ciarfella 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Typical short sighted, narrow minded dealer. Helping out locals in any way benefits everyone. If he’d sold you the manual he would have had a parts customer and referrer for life! Some people just don’t see the big picture.

    • @peckerwood6078
      @peckerwood6078 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
      Who needs a dealer when you can turn a wrench or screwdriver yourself and most manuals are available online.
      As for JD it's clear that they are selling "Dealer repair only" equipment and their off shore sourced crap is costing more to fix than the profit you can get off the crop so what's the point.
      Made in the USA is still running 40yrs later and looks good doing it and will keep doing when all this Green junk is not even fit for parts cause 1year after it's made you can't get the computer board that runs the damn thing.
      I'm moving back into analogue in every aspect of my life just in case the next "Carrington Event" is within my lifetime and even if it ain't least my kids can still cut their grass with Grandpa's ride 'em tractor!!
      Just sayin'

    There’s a couple of things I’d do differently.
    That engine oil looked so bad I probably would have run diesel in it first, then oil to flush, then final oil. There’s gotta be more sludge in the bottom.
    Also, I would always pressure wash the entire machine before starting, just to get the majority of the dirt and grease off so it’s nicer to work on, plus you can see more of the details and issues ahead of time. In this case the fuel tank area and battery tray would have already been clean.

    • @peckerwood6078
      @peckerwood6078 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My point exactly so glad to know I'm not the only nut that thinks that way!
      Job one is blow the crap off before it comes into the shop which judging from the spic and span floor & benches in the "Laid Off Garage" I'm sure there's a "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" sign hanging in there somewhere.

    Are those Carhartt overalls? What model or number?
    Was that the chrome color metallic paint or aluminum? The number would help. I really like it! I’d probably forget about staying purist restoration and paint the whole tractor like that!

    ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO!!
    Love me some Wheel Horse so it's all good!
    With that said! Regarding the front end rebuild.
    Why didn't you just pull the pivot bolt and drop the whole front end to replace it all ez-pz?
    Once into mixing and matching parts why not just buy a matching E-Clip to match the other pivot?
    No wonder you're out of grease! Half of it's on the outside!
    Maybe you should just use that excess on the rack n' pinion steering which looks a little in need of lube.
    Wire brush on the rear end before pulling the plugs and even a blowing off with the air gun after brushing and wiping it down just makes sense to keep the dirt out of the plug holes.
    Shoulda blowed out all that crap and per washed the unit first thing fur anything.
    Just sayin'
    I know that's how the mount on the fuel tank came from new and mines exactly the same but dang it looks like someone just decided to use a coat hanger to hold it on! Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm a big believer in the utility of coat hangers.
    Watching the Battery box clean out and replace just think maybe some locking nuts nylon or otherwise would keep the battery hold down in place a little longer. Did I hear you forcing fuel through the system with an air chuck? Hard on where it seals at every point. Can be needed but not if absolutely necessary otherwise just let the fuel flow with gravity and pump pulling it's prime front the tank. Charging the tank with air like that can force all kinds of crap past the tank, filter, seat, float into the jet plugging either the Jet or needle making for more effort than needed to get running
    Enjoyed it a great deal and have a hat just like that.
    Best
    lee
