I would say the sweet spot is a 4S, toss in the Premium package w/PDLS+. If you want to splurge, can always spend a few on the interior. Since it's silent, the noise isolation windows and $5K audio upgrade would be incredible. Porsche ranks one of the highest for the sound system.

I took delivery of my 'base' Taycan (I call it the Taycan S, as the word 'base' is just soooo wrong for this beautiful car), and it's wonderful. The handling is sublime, and the accelleration from 25mph to 75mph is Jesus fast! Yes, you can go faster, but just chasing numbers is idiotic school-boy 'Top-Trumps' foolish stuff... The 'Taycan S' is really the perfect EV... (IMO).
Air suspension and those ludicrously expensive headlight units can cost owners once out of warranty. (If headlights falls under warranty, Porsche might argue it's "normal" wear and tear if they fail after 3 years...)
All air suspension requires replacement after some time in service (10 years?) - at a replacement cost of $5000-$10,000 usually. But that’s the price you pay for the best ride quality and body control.
to be fair to Toyota/Lexus, the regen on their hybrids has also been programmed to be much more natural feeling. Personally not a fan of this massively aggressive regen braking on some EVs.
Have you driven the i4 eDrive 40? I think that is a great comparison to this car. This is 50% more expensive than the BMW I know but would be an interesting test
There is no such thing as a RRP Porsche. The big thing about Porsche is the ability to customize a car to your exact specifications. Wants the interior to match the exterior? sure. want the suspension height and stiffness set to be more aggressive? no problem. The options list on even the cheapest Porsche is literally pages long.

Why do Australian reviews always ignore LCT? That 156k base model car you’re sitting in will cost $230k+ The Tesla 3 RWD is no Porsche but it’s less than a third of that price.
That calculation isn’t accurate, because LCT is only calculated on the portion of the price above the threshold. Hence, the driveaway price of a bone stock Taycan is $179K, not $230K. You’re quite right, though, that the Model 3 is no Porsche.
Great review. Personally I’m not a fan of EVs. I just don’t see how they can be fun to drive. I also wouldn’t feel confident in taking one on a road trip. They are still far to expensive for most people. Also I hate the fact they are being shoved down our throats and forced into them over the next 10 years. As a city run around and the daily commute I see the appeal. But i won’t be buying one any time soon, and certainly not in the next 10 years.
It's very fun to drive, I bought a Taycan over a 911. Doubtful I'll go back to gas. Invest $2k for a home charger, and plug in for a few hours once every 200 miles. Is that so difficult? Or 400 miles+ on a Tesla. Public DC will take 25 minutes. Someone taking a road trip can't make pit stops every 200 miles for 25 mins to stretch? Expensive? You're looking at a Porsche. Can always go buy a Chevy/Nissan EV.

Base 911 also is the best choice imo and best value for money. Porsche base models are more than fast enough for normal daily driving.

Not choosing 22kw AC charger is just dumb.

Time will tell but I don't think the targeted demographic would be too concerned with repairs. Porsche owners are generally well off.
I'd opt for good handling over raw speed any day of the week for a road car.

350km for the small battery, 400km for the big battery. And about 20km less in winter time.

If you drove this one you’d quite quickly see how they can be fun to drive … but the Taycan is the best of all for this purpose.
