- Kyle is in a cold and snowy Angeles Forest with the new Porsche Taycan base. This is the rear wheel drive car with the large Performance Plus battery option. Kyle aims to find out if this RWD car is more of a drivers car than its all wheel drive counterparts.

Kyle is featured in the ads for this car on Porsche Taycan website!!!
Thanks Kyle great review!!!! Can't wait to drive one myself in the Alps.
This guy is cool. Doesn't try hard at all and very very thorough and relevant.
This is the only Taycan review I have seen in the snow, so of course it’s the RWD version.
VERY NICE! Great driving!
Thx Kyle. Love your videos! Keep up the great work.
Nice! Going Smoking Tire on is with the notebook, parked on the canyon road! Just need the rubber band to wrap around the notebook!
Great to hear that the lower spec is possibly a better choice! For a long time the Model S absolute base spec has been better than the higher specs due to more range, for cheaper. Not to compare these two much further aside for them being flagships. They are quite different types of vehicles to be in and drive.
I love it when Kyle just boots it thru a corner and pulls a few "G's" around a corner with passengers
Angeles Crest. Great road. (Well it was about 30 years ago anyway) Too bad it was wet.
Kyle, would you recommend this over the 4S & is there a huge difference? Yes donuts!!! 🙌🏼 I agree $100K & under 👍
It would be awesome if you started adding chapters to these videos. Why do you think they are sandbagging the mileage so hard on the Taycan?? 290 is great!
Very nice drive review. Does this car have Porsche Torque vectoring option?
A video of your preferred options would be cool. Most of these press cars are decked out.
That could be neat to do one day!
Well, that colour scheme is right off a 2000 Ford Contour.
Or Taurus 😁
are winter tires used here?
Did you do any testing with a staggered tire setup larger in the rear?
Kyle, would you do the cannonball in this frozen berry Taycan. I know that the power would have been enough and the potentially added range would be interesting. Also waiting on One Lap on any of the Taycan’s.
Eek, I'm clenching my butt cheeks watching Kyle hauling @ss up Angeles Crest Hwy in freezing rain in a near 6-figure car with rear wheel drive 😂
I went to the Porsche website and the $79k version of this car lacks just about everything that makes a Porsche and an EV special.
Also Porsche wants you to pay for simple options that are standard on a low end $15k Hyundai..
This car is very customizable and if you have the money you can spend as much as $230k for one of these. Premium sound system is $7k.. LOL
I just got a new minivan, they threw in a 20 speaker 760 W Harman Kardon audio system no extra charge
@@John-209
760 watts? BMW charges $800 for a 300 watt Harmon. I think the audio system in the Taycan is 4000 watts and 20 speakers.
@@mamadouaziza2536 hey buddy thank you for the response I’ll check paper but I’m pretty sure it’s the 2020 Pacifica Limited hybrid. It sounds great when you’re watching a movie on the blu ray system, and once I get the transmission repaired it should be a good driver as well
lol
That's always been the Porsche way. Extra features double the price of the base car. They get away with it once people are paying 6 figures for cars. What's another $50K? No big deal.
Last time I checked, there was another stereo upgrade option. The Bose at around 1k, right? Anyways, I don’t understand people that complain about the price of a car.. No one is forcing you to buy it.
Kyle, nice gig if you can get it 😄
At 12:07 Kyle has a mister Rogers moment
Your ahead of your time
Kyle the green dot in the windshield is the emission indication sticker: green = all good, yellow = smelly diesel that cannot go in ever city, red = well bad luck you cannot go in most big cities.
Yes I learned this! I actually remember it now from last time being in Germany
@@OutofSpecReviews Nice to hear that. They discussed introducing a new sticker especially for electronic vehicles: blue.
If you ever come to Stuttgart and surround area, message me, I would love to meet you and the team :)
I find myself wanting to see a "Cannonball race" between a Taycan and a Model S Plaid. I'm curious with the improved Model S, particularly the alleged range improvements and Tesla Series 3 Superchargers, what kind of difference in times there are between the two cars in 2021.
Too bad there are only 2 V3 stops for Tesla across the whole country on the route I’d take
@@OutofSpecReviews Is V3 much faster than V2 on longer charging stops, or do you have to stop more often to make the most of the V3? A real race would be great though. 👮🏻♂️
Unfortunately/as you may know: There are no Plaid Taycan Model S's for anyone to evaluate. And they're wont' be any at least until 2022, maybe later?
Nonetheless/yes, it would be great to see!!
@@msl5254 The Plaid is supposed to be out this month, with about 400 miles of range. It is the Plaid+ that will likely be next year, with the 500 miles of range.
Would love to see how a Model S (Plaid or Long Range) would do -- how far it could go and still get "fast charging" (since to 50% should give 150-200 miles of range) -- as compared to the Taycan, even with only two V3 Superchargers on the route.
At the same time, sounds like the Taycan is the one to buy (other than charging availability and EA charger issues) as it seems to be a better touring car.
@@davidnielson9139
You obviously didn't get the news (no Plaid at least till Summer of 2022), while you keep reading and believing Elon's forward press clippings. Get back to us when there's a real car to discuss; test and examine....Or better yet: Talk about the current car!
with the Taycan's level of efficientcy, do you think VW will ever push that down to the ID's?
Yes! Driving ID.4 this weekend and it’s so so soooo good
@@OutofSpecReviews Could you compare low-frequency noise to the Model Y? Particularly the boominess of the Y.
What colour of this car ?
Can it do GPS tested sub 5s 0-60 in launch mode?
4.91s is what i have seen it at in other videos.
Ooh German plates
It’s a shame Porsche doesn’t make a “simple” version without the 2-speed gearbox. Would love that. Not a fan of having a gearbox in an EV. Especially if you can’t manually select between the 2 speeds.
It is dearly needed because the rear motor alone has barely any torque, which the 2-speed can mitigate.
don't go strictly by the given torque spec of any motor as ALL mfgs use some kind of gear (be it 1 or 2) final drive to the wheels/tires which amplifies the torque output. if you don't know the ratio, then you can't realistically judge/evaluate a vehicle. the fact that this thing still does 0-60 in only 5 secs is your first clue that you're missing a critical piece of information.
@@phillyphil1513 Good thing I believe to know the ratio then... 😅
Great Porsche ressource at jalopnik.com/an-extremely-detailed-look-at-the-porsche-taycans-engin-1837802533
For comparison: the ID.3 with 310 Nm is said to have a 10:1 gearbox.
To be honest, I don't think the Taycan RWD is a good choice: I've driven the turbo and the 4S so far (it's so fun) and I don't think it's a nice experience to drive the "slow" one which needs 5.1 Seconds 0-60.
As we say here in Germany, a Porsche has to "richtig fetzen" (be an fierce car? idk one of the words you can't translate), the RWD does not meet this criteria.
However love your Videos, maybe you can try the Cannonball in this car with the big battery, should be a little faster than the 4S.
Interesting how u used such nice superlatives to try and say slower is better. It's not!
Road tripping with "an adventure" as in the possibility of getting stranded? No, thanks.
Range mode in Europe limits u to 100Km/hr top speed. What's the limit in the US?
Limit is adjustable, even on this European spec car. Plus you can push past it with a hard shove of the throttle.
What is this color and wheels combination?! I hope no one dares to order this combination. How did they make a Taycan look this dull. This is really shocking to me! How dare they put this on the options list.
I thought the Taycan would always look great. BUT I WAS WRONG!
Hmmmm.... very Smoking Tire like lol
Porsche needs to start accurately stating range instead of selling themselves short. EVs sell in large part to range rating. Tesla overstates range because they take advantage of every trick in the system.
EPA states the range, not Porsche. Legally Porsche has to market with EPA range
we did win the war
Does Taycan support Android Auto yet? I found it silly when I learned last year that it supports CarPlay only.
This matters lol!
99% of Porsche buyers are Apple iPhone lovers..
@@mamadouaziza2536
That parts true (more like 80-90%). LOL. However/yes, it now has Android Auto as far as I remember.
We need to help get Kyle his green and bronze spec Taycan. Spread the word about the channel and get the subscribers up! Too low for the quality of content.
Ha! Yes - once this channel hits 100k subs and I don’t have my green over bronze wheel Taycan Cross Turismo, something is wrong.
Not my favorite color, to be honest.
I like it, to each there own.
Different colours like this should be encouraged. The more the merrier. I wouldn't have it but that's fine.
You make a Porsche look boring
