I come from a family of commercial fisherman, on my dads side. My grandfather was the captain of ships all his life just about. And you do not leave that ship, under any circumstance, until every other living person is off. You just don't. You stay until every one of your crew, or in this case crew and passengers, are off safely. In fact my dad and grandfather both DID have some very risky and dangerous situations. Being a commercial fishermen isn't the safest of careers. But as the captain, you make sure everyone else is off before you leave.
I was actually on carnival splender the same night this happened and I remember our captain asking us for a moment of silence for those people that were on that cruise. :(
dantdm//thedimondminecart you’re right so Say he did slip which he didn’t ,,, Why didn’t he climb out and get back on the ship and help everybody , what happened to the captain goes down with the ship . He Looks like a swindler
Sounds like they need to go after the Captain, not the Cruise Ship Company. He decided to do something complete adverse to safety, by going off course to salute a fellow Captain on a small Island, then hit the rock. He should be in jail.
Reece Watts The Captain of the ship left before everyone was safely off the ship. He actually pushed people aside and went into the life boats, before everyone was safely off ship, so he is not only guilty of the death of the 34 who died, but of the entire catastrophe, because he went off course to salute a Captain on a nearby Island, and that is when they struck the rock which damaged the ship and why they sank so quickly. He is guilty of abandoning ship, and of neglecting his duty as a Captain and causing a major catastrophe to the ship. He should be jailed.
What was most horrifying things was the #of bodies they found in the elevators, when it was raised. Could you imagine being stuck in a dark elevator, as water swirls in?
It's an old maritime tradition that the captain is always last to leave the ship in the event of an emergency and if all the passengers aren't off the ship then the captain is supposed to go down with the ship.
I agree cause Concordia is another cruise line not carnival and it wasn't carnivals fault if the captain took the route he was supposed to everyone in that ship would have been fine and they wouldn't live in pain and missing their loved ones who are considered "dead" because of this man who shouldn't be on another cruise ship ever again
My father and grandfather were both commercial fisherman. My grandfather was the captain of ships. And under absolutely no circumstance does a captain leave his vessel before every single person is off that ship. You just don't do that. You take that responsibility as the captain. Every single crew member, or in this case crew and passenger are to be off that ship before the captain abandons it.
There is one thing I would like to say to the victims and survivors, Please don’t throw plastics with the flowers in the sea. Just tie a letter and a bouquet of flowers, without the plastic.
This was mostly the fault of the captain and there would be even less people dead if they didn’t panic and jump off the boat, as you are guaranteed death if you fall or jump from like a 15 story ship, as it feels like you are falling on solid concrete
I want to thank the Italian authorities for the opportunity to raise this ship and tow it out of there. In my expert opinion a ship of that DRAUGHT does not belong that close to land. I’m sorry for the loss of life. This will forever haunt me til the death. I AM MASTER ENGINEER AND SALVAGE EXPERT NICK SLOANE CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦
I remember that Oceanos incident. The greek captain left the boat when he realised it's gonna sunk and left 200 passengers on their own. Luckily there were people who took control and South African rescue choppers available. No one died, i remember, but the ship went down.
I'm - of course - not absolutely sure, but Caribbean Cruise captains don't have this habit to go hail for the people aground. They have a habit to care for their customers. Hundreds of years of history. Titanic captain, Edward Smith, was offered numerous times to escape, but he declined every time. He sank with his ship as so many before him.
My question is why would the workers tell them to go back inside their cabins and that it was a minor problem and expect them to actually do it when thats what they told the people on board of the titanic this is just sad
***** The people that died where people that where stuck on the side of the ship that was submerged and people that jumped off the ship. The ship still flipped onto its side so I don't know what your getting at.
Move I'm Gay It was the captain you fuck. if I put you in charge of my house and you catch it on fire, how the FUCK is it my fault!?!? (You represent the captain, I am the company) This could happen to any cruise ship bud
Lotus Bayleef No, it's from a Horror movie called Friday the 13th, The movie takes place Friday 13th, in which a killer called Jason, slaughters people and that's why it's the day of bad luck. Google "Jason friday 13th" for more info. ( movie's pretty good I recommend it )
The sail by being a risky is slightly misinformed. This was a pretty common practice, but the problem was he had a mistress in his quarters leaving others to maneuver the turn and miscommunication lead to them coming in too close
It's your loss; there are literally millions of people that travel on cruise ships every year without issue. I've been on 9 cruises without issue, including on the Carnival Triumph a couple years ago. I've been on a 25 year old ship and made through a 7 day ship without issue.
i like how the captain looks like michael scott, and the 1st one to escape just like michael scott would do. His name even sounds like something he would make up
One major difference between costa and the actual carnival cruise line of vessels is that they do a lifeboat drill first day with carnival... apparently costa does not have these same regulations. That captain caused all of this by waiting too late and telling passengers to go back to cabins instead of instructing them to lifeboat stations.
So it was his fault that this happened. Yet he decided to abandon the his ship, passengers, and responsibility. He doesn't deserve to get his job back. And who TF trips and falls into a lifeboat??? That's like the excuse "I tripped and fell into a v*gina." RIP to all those who tragically passed in this dreadful event, and I hope peace comes to those who survived :c ❤️
That captain should have went down with his ship. RIP to all those that lost their lives and prayers for those still struggling to understand the devastation and deal with the every day nightmares.
the captain said he slipped and fell into a lifeboat, he needs a better lie than that.
Not only that he slipped and stabbed a guy 37 times in the chest
There is video of him climbing into the lifeboat
well he also "slipped" into a 16 year prison sentence afterwards.
Lil Devil yeah you are right he fell into the lifeboat. He’s an idiot what happened to the captain goes down with the ship
Kovu The Lion thank you

annamarie affer i dont understand
herobot 12h he claimed that he "fell" into a lifeboat but we all know he's lying
The captain is a bitch.
well he also "fell" into a 16 year prison sentence afterwards.
dantdm//thedimondminecart you’re right so Say he did slip which he didn’t ,,, Why didn’t he climb out and get back on the ship and help everybody ,

Sounds like they need to go after the Captain, not the Cruise Ship Company. He decided to do something complete adverse to safety, by going off course to salute a fellow Captain on a small Island, then hit the rock. He should be in jail.
exatly
I absolutely agree!
I agree because he saved lives and done the wright thing. Why should he need to be jailed? He never murdered anyone, He done the correct thing.
Reece Watts

Im so glad Mr.Rubello finally got his brothers remains. God Bless All!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I thought the captain should always leave the boat last
thats what I would do or I would go down with it
+Hansel Ying duhh..
7150285
Hansel Ying he wanted to abandon ship to go to some island
It's an old maritime tradition that the captain is always last to leave the ship in the event of an emergency and if all the passengers aren't off the ship then the captain is supposed to go down with the ship.
Friday the 13th is a unlucky day bad luck day so stay home

+CraftingKiller03 the reason why it happen JASON!
THATS WHAT I WAS GUNNA SAT
That's creepy
Does it bother ANYONE else when people call a massive ship a boat?
Yes
No
ColbzC 2 Yes I definitely hate that
tt09 osmond me neither
Yea although I’m not native.
God bless those that opened their homes and restaurants to help the survivors.
I hate it when people say Titanic was a cruise ship disaster! It was a ocean liner not a cruise ship!
Technically it was a mailing ship.
J Wilson
I know. RMS stands for Royal Mail Ship.
Haha figured you'd know that judging by your name.
Evr since I've watched the titanic I've been scared to go on a cruise!
sibahan sanders Why are you scared to go on a cruise? Titanic didn't go on a cruise she went on a transatlantic voyage.
The captain refuses to admit that he's a coward!? DAMN HIM!
I KNOW RIGHT I GOT SO FRUSTRATED WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD DO WHAT HE DID AGAIN MAN THAT MADE ME FURIOUS.
100 years later after titanic this happens woaaa and its even on friday the 13th
How come I never heard about this!?!?!?
Sage Fire it's kind of infamous
Were drugs ever a problem? Ha kidding
4yrs later and same this is the first I heard of it,
Carnival cruise lines didn't do anything it was that stupid captain that wanted to take a detour and he should have stayed and helped on the ship
Ya its not carnivals fault the caption was showing a girl the coast line apparently

Exactly. They hired the bum.
Kristan Adams carnival has nothing to do with this. This is THE COSTA CONCORDIA NOT THE CARNIVAL CONCORDIA
"Slipped and fell into a life boat"
My cousin was on this ship....THANK GOD SHE MADE IT!
I was there... Traumatizing 8 years old.
3:38 that was the saddest thing I heard
Wow just wow, "I tripped over and landed on a lifeboat..." XD
I'm on this ship when it's happened, I'm working in this ship :)
💕
There is one thing I would like to say to the victims and survivors,
Please don’t throw plastics with the flowers in the sea. Just tie a letter and a bouquet of flowers, without the plastic.
Good tip, we need to protect the oceans and sea animals from plastics x
I remember going on this ship, I went on this ship in 2011
This is why I don't want to go on a cruise ship, those things are scary man!!!!
A safe one is the Norwegian Norwegian breakaway
This was entirely the fault of the captain, most cruise ships are 100% safe
Trust me, they're completely safe.
This was mostly the fault of the captain and there would be even less people dead if they didn’t panic and jump off the boat, as you are guaranteed death if you fall or jump from like a 15 story ship, as it feels like you are falling on solid concrete
They're not scary when your riding something else than Costa
I want to thank the Italian authorities for the opportunity to raise this ship and tow it out of there. In my expert opinion a ship of that DRAUGHT does not belong that close to land. I’m sorry for the loss of life. This will forever haunt me til the death. I AM MASTER ENGINEER AND SALVAGE EXPERT NICK SLOANE CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦
Someone should make a movie from this like how they did with the Titanic. A modern day Jack and Rose.
Casual Existential Despair fortunately there was only panic in this, no love
This or the stoey of the mv sewol would sadly make good modern 'titanic'
There was a unskippable viagra ad...
Andrew Stiokas hmmmmm...
It lasted a long time eh?
This made me scared because I was on a cruise when I saw this documenatary about this
30 second add that I can't skip 😀
i was on that ship when it sank.... i lost my blanket
Friday the 13 is always a unlucky day
Not for me, its my favorite day of the year
My bday last year was Friday the 13
Shadow Haze not for me lol
I remember that Oceanos incident. The greek captain left the boat when he realised it's gonna sunk and left 200 passengers on their own. Luckily there were people who took control and South African rescue choppers available. No one died, i remember, but the ship went down.
It was all the entertainers who saved everyone
The captain tripped and fell into a lifeboat, huh? Smh 🤦♂️
Luckiest man alive some might say
Lmfao imagine if someone believed that
I'm - of course - not absolutely sure, but Caribbean Cruise captains don't have this habit to go hail for the people aground. They have a habit to care for their customers. Hundreds of years of history.
Titanic captain, Edward Smith, was offered numerous times to escape, but he declined every time.
He sank with his ship as so many before him.
Even after 100 years ppl still don't know how to man a ship.
omg i was watching with a straight face and then i heard one woman say with a scared shaky voice “the kids get the kids” and i shed a tear
oh ok thank you :) I am asking this as I am going on a cruise sunday.. nervous hehe!
this made me cry
my worst nightmare is suffocating imagine if you were on that ship, confused and scared
My question is why would the workers tell them to go back inside their cabins and that it was a minor problem and expect them to actually do it when thats what they told the people on board of the titanic this is just sad
How tf do you fall into a life boat?
Wow.
Captain Crappy.
captain I fell into a life boat
i remember when this happened me and my sister were playing hide and seek in the den around the christmas tree with the news on.
What a day Friday the 13th
God bless all the people
I feel bad for the people that jumped and died thinking the ship was going to sink, when it just flipped on its side...
***** The people that died where people that where stuck on the side of the ship that was submerged and people that jumped off the ship. The ship still flipped onto its side so I don't know what your getting at.
+Alexander Heath
So did most of them die because they jumped off the ship rather then being stuck in flooded parts of the ship?
Friday the 13th...
In 2012...
EDIT: The Titanic sank exactly 100 years before this, in 1912.
I'd like to rummage through what's left of people's belongings. You know they'll never get it back
lol i was thinking that same thing, if i was on the salvage crew, go through the cabins and find stuff
Can carnival not fucking have a ship that doesn't get fucked up somehow? Literally never going to travel with them.
Move I'm Gay It was the captain you fuck. if I put you in charge of my house and you catch it on fire, how the FUCK is it my fault!?!? (You represent the captain, I am the company) This could happen to any cruise ship bud
I was on there when it happened, my little brother went missing.
All that beauty.... Gone!
Friday 13...of course...who would have thought?! Terrifying
Is this why Friday the 13th is deemed unlucky?
Lotus Bayleef No, it's from a Horror movie called Friday the 13th, The movie takes place Friday 13th, in which a killer called Jason, slaughters people and that's why it's the day of bad luck. Google "Jason friday 13th" for more info. ( movie's pretty good I recommend it )

Here in 2021 with nothing else to do but watch shipwreck videos. Anyone want to hangout?
I lost it when they said Friday the 13th
These people need some FLEX TAPE
Dang , that's cool how the titanic is still there 😲
Lina Bear The real Titanic will disappear from the Atlantic Ocean because the Titanic had germs that eats mental and the whole ship is made of mental.
@@ebolaishere.3537 it’s a joke.
Yes it is.
My cruise on board of Costa Concordia You Tube Raniero Cicconetti Thanks for watching P.S. Please subscribe to my channel. Thank You
I'm crying these people should have never of had to go through that
Is this a carnival cruise
"Tripped and fell onto a life boat"
This made me very sad..
i dont think i want to take a cruise with my little family with all thats happening...
It's your loss; there are literally millions of people that travel on cruise ships every year without issue. I've been on 9 cruises without issue, including on the Carnival Triumph a couple years ago. I've been on a 25 year old ship and made through a 7 day ship without issue.
Yes, no more.
i like how the captain looks like michael scott, and the 1st one to escape just like michael scott would do. His name even sounds like something he would make up
This is one of the reasons I’m afraid of boats and I will never go on a cruise ship in my life

Water Doggo lmao
I wish I was on that boat.
4:36 pause video and look on table it's halarious 😂
this actually sunk on my birthday.
“The salvage may cost a half a billion dollars”.....Try close to 2 billion.
So it was his fault that this happened. Yet he decided to abandon the his ship, passengers, and responsibility. He doesn't deserve to get his job back.
And who TF trips and falls into a lifeboat??? That's like the excuse "I tripped and fell into a v*gina."
RIP to all those who tragically passed in this dreadful event, and I hope peace comes to those who survived :c ❤️
Personally experiencing this first hand wasn't enough to make me stop going on cruises :D
It was the Titanic
Oh great. The captain turned the ship to a rock. He killed 32 people. He clams he fell in a lifeboat, and abandoned the Concordia. What a hero...
oh i just TRIPPED AND FELL INTO A LIFE BOAT OHHHH SO CONVENIENTLY
Trip and fall in a life boat sounds like something dude perfect would do
Wasn't Carnival also involved in a ship that caught on fire recently?
Engine Fires yes many, And some collisions
So much for a salute
Friday the 13th, the worst day for a cruise
that is so sad I know right
Other one is Carnival Cruises.
There are other. Disney Cruises, Holland America line, Cunard. Norwegian. MSC cruises, Medcruise etc.
of course.
Friday the 13th
Of course Friday 13
That captain should have went down with his ship. RIP to all those that lost their lives and prayers for those still struggling to understand the devastation and deal with the every day nightmares.
