  • This video is simply going over the buttons, doors and menus on the Panasonic S5! This is to help those who have just purchased the Panasonic S5 learn their way around the camera body. The more you know, the less you will feel intimidated with the available features and settings! If you have any questions I didn't answer, please let me know in the comments below!
    There are also photo/video examples shown from the camera.
    Please forgive the minor areas where the audio is hollow, I didn't realize where my lav was located when recording until I got to the menu...

    I find this video one of the most helpful tutorials on the Panasonic S5 for beginners! It's really useful, except for the audio getting a little muffled here and there. Thanks for sharing!

    I stumbled upon your video, while trying to figure out how to get started with my new S5. I'm absolutely new to this type of camera. Your video is just what I needed. You explain it very well. Now the next phase is learning how to use those settings... As others have mentioned, excellent video with the exception of the not so good audio here and there. I'm sure you are aware of that though... I'll be checking out more of your videos soon! Cheers!

    Your summary of the different modes is really useful (sports? shutter priority -- portraits? aperture priority). I know there will be other variables, but it's best to keep it simple at first.

  • @carlmulder6482
    @carlmulder6482 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video!! Do you know if you can turn the flash off in manual or A mode. I'd like to be able to turn off in custom 1, 2 or 3. THX

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      While this flash does not have a built in flash option, if you have an external flash you can switch it off if you feel it is not needed for a shot by using the power switch on the flash itself.

    Hi! I just got this camera to try and boost my photography skills and was very overwhelmed, so this was so helpful! I have just two questions - I live in a very rainy environment and purchased this camera partially because of the weather sealing. How good is the sealing - can I shoot outdoors in the rain? My previous camera was a rugged point and shoot so of course I don't expect to be able to dive underwater with this one as I can with my point and shoot, but can I take pictures with it if the rain is consistently coming down?
    Also, do you recommend a UV filter or is a lens hood good enough for protecting the lens from UV light and any dust/dirt? Most of my shooting is done outside in nature so I want to make sure I'm protecting my lens, even though it's dust and water resistant. Thank you so much for your fantastic content and for your time!

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      While it does have great weather sealing, I would still get yourself a rain bag and use it. The weather sealing is more so if you got caught in a drizzle or a mist or a gust of dust.
      I also do recommend a UV filter that is coated with a repelmax coating to protect it further from dust, moisture, scratches and fingerprints.
      Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Just purchased an S5! I look forward to more video tutorials, this was very helpful. It's been years since my last photo class. I am really excited about this. Also, no sweat on the sound - things happen! I do have, maybe, a silly question about lenses. For example, I purchased a macro lens for my s5 - will the settings I use for my kit lens vs. macro lens differ? I am sure slightly depending on my objective or do they stay the same?

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a great question! Settings will differ depending on your objective or goal. Just ask yourself what look you are trying to capture and what you need to change to achieve it. Happy capturing!

    The #1 (top) card slot holds the higher speed card. iI
    The #2 (bottom) card slot holds the lower speed card. I
    So. just remember that in any race, Number 1 is the faster car, runner, horse, swimmer, etc.
    Makes sense to me.

    This was really helpful, I thought i had to buy a UHS II SD card to get 180 frames, cause I wasn't accessing the menu, but the S&Q button did it. I still need one for the 10 Bit 60 frames 4k, but I don't think I'll be using that a lot.

      A wireless remote does use a port, a wireless remote uses Bluetooth or WiFi.
      The access ports for a mic or earphones are 3.5mm.

      While Panasonic has always been more video-centric, this camera was designed for both photos and video. The S1H is the video focused model in the S series. This walkthrough is for beginners starting with this camera to get a better understanding to get started. I have more Panasonic videos on the way that go into deeper detail on menus and specs as well.
