    Thanks Wex for a very dense (technically informative 58mins on the various use / features and capabilities of the S5 mk II.

    The plan is to acquire the S5iix later this year. Yesterday I handled the camera for the first time. I was surprised at how small and light it is. So, today I wanted to start to become familiar with all the buttons and menus - it is a bit overwhelming. Your tutorial is exactly what I need. I know I will watch it many times in the coming weeks. Many thanks.

    Great review 👏👏👏.
    you should also consider doing separate video for S&Q mode with all the settings on it. since there are not many reviews about it. but most of us interested in using slow-motion S&Q mode with high quality specs.. thanks!!

      That will let everyone see that Panasonic can't focus again.

    1-area af moving speed is about the speed of the focusing box you are moving, not about organically focusing towards something %(

    Newbie question. Do you feel you lose any picture quality at all in recording at 120 fps vs 60 fps with the lumix s5 II ? Is anything else is lost, please let me know. Thanks!

    • @WexPhotoVideo
      @WexPhotoVideo  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Marc, great question. There’s two answers to the question about quality, the first is the quality of the data, resolution and information recorded, the second is the look & feel of the final picture when played back.
      Firstly in terms of the quality of the image data in the recording and the final video file there is no difference between 120fps and 60fps if you are shooting in FHD 1080, you get the same colour space and latitude in post, but bear in mind at 120fps the file recorded will be significantly larger than one recorded at 60fps which will take up more memory card and hard drive space. The 120fps rate is FHD only and is not an option when shooting in 4K so there is an image resolution difference there if you are shooting a 4k project and wanted to add 120fps footage using the same camera.
      The second answer is about the look of the final image. 120 frame rate is used primarily for slow motion and at 120fps the shutter speed has to increase to 1/240th sec to freeze fast moving subjects. This works for slow motion but could look too crisp if you used for standard-speed, playback each frame is recorded with minimal motion blur to blend from frame to frame, by contrast in 60fps the ideal shutter speed is 1/120th sec and at 30fps you would shoot at 1/60th sec so you can imagine how much more motion is recorded per frame.
      Ultimately the recording frame-rate and shutter speed combination is a stylistic choice and results will vary in relation to your output frame rate for your final edit, but rest assured there is no loss in data-quality when shooting at different frame rates on the S5 mark II.
      Hope this helps, any other queries send them our way.

    How do you move from photo to video - I can't see a switch?

    • @ShawnTheBriggs
      @ShawnTheBriggs ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mark. These modes are accessible via the Mode Dial on top of the camera. The Film Camera looking icon is where you'll switch it into Video mode, whereas modes A, P, S and M are your Photography modes. You can then assign modes C1, C2 and C3 various customised settings for you to switch to your favourite settings faster without having to select them all all the time. Then you have S&Q for your slow motion and quick motion frame rates.
      Hope this helps!
