I started my envoy today and put it in reverse and it just revved. I was shocked. Yesterday had no issues whatsoever in reverse. I’m hoping it’s simply the shift solenoid that controls reverse

I need your opinion on this one because I’m not sure so whenever I got the car I was told the trans was “rebuilt” it goes all the way to 3rd gear an will not go to 4th I manually put it in 2nd an it’s fine does feel sluggish going threw gears but it will not go into 4th well at least this is what I’m thinking because the car starts raving alittle to high I think it’s perfect till I get at about 60 or 65 an then you start to realize it’s not shifting oh an also if you kick it down it doesn’t down shift from what I can remember I’m gonna go for another drive an test it again do you think this could potentially be my problem because the trans doesn’t feel bad whenever I manually put it in second it pulls great even 3rd pulls great just no 4th

I wish I would of known all this before replacing my silinoids AB. Now after doing it on my 2006 GMC Sierra truck. Where it was the worst year of ttruck for GMC where the exhaust goes right under the transmission pan and it's almost impossible to even get the pan off with ten times the work. I did it after a week of work for n the rain and snow, in the driveway at 30°. Now the truck is back to extremely bad. No power high Reve to get anywhere. Except for putting the truck into 2nd and 3rd gear to get anywhere. The same code is popping up still. I absolutely don't have the money to get it done being a two time kidney transplant patient with two strokes and 12 years on a dialisys machine. It's extremely hard to get anything done let alone doing this all over again. God please help me!!!!!

Quick question, which solenoid controls shifting from 3rd to 4th , or overdrive?

Thank you so much for this video! Very informative. I have a quick question. I drive a 2001 s10 extreme 4.3 motor. I believe it has this exact trans. I recently put a surefire remanufactured 4.3 in it. While i was doing motor swap, i removed torque converter and cleaned it all up and put it back on and torqued down the 3 bolts. The new motor has about 1000 miles on it now. The problem is....the transmission is jumping back and forth in between driving speeds of 40-50ish mph. The rpm gauge shows the trans jumping gears up and down as well. I feel it in the trans when it happens and also the rpm gauge is consistent with the up and down shifting between 40-50ish mph. It even does it if i set cruise control within that speed range. It's almost like it can't figure out which gear it wants to be in while within the speed range of 40-50ish mph. I do NOT have any codes referring to bad shift solenoid(s), so I am wondering if the torque converter is bad? Or can the solenoids be bad even though I dont have a code thrown about them? Any advice is helpful as I have spent a lot of my time and money on this project truck of mine to bring it back to life. Please please please let me know anything that would be helpful! Thank you soooo much in advance! I am uploading a shirt video that captures the rpm gauge while it happens. Maybe if you watch it it will help to explain what I mean in the post.

Let me just explain my problem I have a service engine light on check engine soon it's nothing wrong with the engine is actually the transmission the transmission will shift into gear but if I sit for a minute it won't shift into gear but if I shut the truck off start it back up it'll go into gear and it'll drive in the first gear and when you tries to switch over to second gear it's like second gears not there and then sometimes it'll switch into second gear and you'll feel it for a little while and then it'll go away now I have noticed when I started I can hear the pressure solenoid make a click sound that's real loud enough for me to hear it put it that way if I drive a short distance and I stopped going to reverse it goes into reverse a backup I put it back in the drive or go in the drive I'll drive for a while and when I put in Reverse versus not there does that constitute the transmission is gone what is a severe problem with well almost to severe you're my question is is that cause by the solenoids or does that mean the transmission is gone it don't make sense when the transmission fluid is clean I keep the transmission fluid full is clean it's not overheating or any of that it just started not working one day

I have a 2004 Envoy LT and I just had the transmission rebuilt about 7 to 8 years ago went to Florida last week car ran fine went to go visit our son in Daytona and the transmission was going at the first second and third with no problem and then when it went to Overdrive it would just slip it wouldn't even grab so I had to put the car back into third to drive it what would be causing that problem thank you

Update ! 2003 Chevy Tahoe 4.8L 4wd 331K miles. Here what has happen, I went to drain the tranny fluid and the drain plug bolt head stripped so I drilled a small hole in the pan and drained the fluid, I purchased a used refurb pan then took down the pan I changed the both solenoids A-B 2-3 3-2 then buttoned the pan up fill with fluid and it works ! Shifts nicely and its fast ! Thank you !
