True, even crazier is that there's only one weapon set. A simple katana and wakizashi, yet it has way more depth and adaptabilty than all the 100 dual weild mythical weapons in Valhalla. Heck it even feels more brutal than valhalla, which was a big selling point for UBI. It's a clear cut example of how quality is ALWAYS better than quantity.
@Kasey Nicholson bruh everyone has different likings. New AC games get so much hate because they changed genre from action-adventure to rpg. So, those who liked action-adventure they started complaining and those who like rpg they liked it somewhat. AND even after changing genre they couldn't make a game that could win people's heart(except ac origins). ALSO, Except ac ezio trilogy and ac4 no other ac could manage to win any award.
@Kasey Nicholson You think it makes you 'grown' or 'cool' that you don't care about major fundamental changes to a franchise ? Just because you don't care doesn't mean other people shouldn't. Im pretty sure there's something that you absolutely enjoy that i would find extremely pointless and boring. I wouldn't however act better than you and call you a 'manboy' because of it. Your comment is highly ignorant. It's not cool to act like you don't care, especially when you are doing it over the internet and about a game.
@Kasey Nicholson Huh ?! So now you want to fight a total stranger? How exactly have i talked 'tough'. All this over a game you supposedly don't care about?! So very 'manly' of you. Who needs to grow up now ??
One of my favorite details when it comes to the story being represented by gameplay itself, is the fact that Jin’s parents guide him in the game. Yuriko mentioned that “your father is the wind at your back, your mother, the birds in the trees”. The wind acts as our in-game guide to missions and stories, while the golden birds guide us to hot springs, bamboo stalks and vanity gear. Essentially, it’s like Jin’s father is guiding him throughout his life as the wind that leads him to important moments in his life and to people in need, while his mother tends to Jin’s needs like resting at a hot spring, practicing with bamboo stalks, and even gifting her son with cosmetics as a golden bird. This little detail adds so much to the lore of the island and Jin as a character. It also represents wholeheartedly the culture of Japan and it’s main religion: Shintoism. In which everything has a spiritual entity and must be treated with respect, which in turn makes Tsushima so mystical yet so real and beautiful. Great video, man.
Imagine this, an assassins creed game set in Japan where a samurai is forced to break the bushido code of the samurai and in turn becomes an assassin that needs to fight with this moral dilemma to change his ways from the creed of the samurai to the creed of an assassin. well, that’s Ghost of Tsushima it’s exactly what an assassins creed set in Japan could have been but better
@@praisethelordpig1212 origins is the only game that can come close to GOT because it's got a linear story and that made it better than oddessy and valhalla
I also love how enemies may fear you and straight up run away. Its much more realistic and I think any open world game where you're a lone warrior taking down dozens of enemies should have it. If Im some random swordsman and I see the guy who's been taking down entire outposts single handedly, perhaps I shouldn't even try.
See the cooler thing is he was literally seen as an unkillable ghost... a legend come to life, if the assassins creed even had a hint of this the game would be so much more badass, like all they have heard are silent whispers in the night, nothing more, one minute someones there, the next he's disappeared in front of your very eyes and the guards are basically pising themelfs silly. It'd deadass be like a batman simulator but with assassins.
They way they fall on their asses due to shock and desperately scramble to get up but still can't, as you ominously walk slowly towards them ... that's gaming excellence.
@@amanpreetgill7564 Arkham Asylum definitely had a feeling like that. Yeah all the guards tried to fight back but whenever they were on their toes they were always sweating bullets scanning their surroundings, frightened of what shadows Batman was going to emerge from
Ever since Ubisoft got rid of Ashraf, whoever they got in to replace him really did butcher the franchise. Ghost of Tsushima honestly is one of the best games I've ever played. Never expected it to be as good as it is.
@@Francisco-oz8yb you make sense indeed. But think about it. You're already hated by so many because of not-so-satisfactory game development, then you get additional hate because of having a guy offering crucial game dev info, just to get laid, and not by his wife. Salt to injury there
This should be a lesson to all developers and greedy executives. Just make a good game that people want without all the drama and without any tricks and micro scams, and chances are people will reward you with making your game the best seller and one of the greats, even when it's the first game of the franchise. You DON'T have to be greedy or make a one size fits all (UBI) to make the money you want. You will make waay more than all the tricks can get you and more than that you will build good sentiment and trust.
Don’t drag the devs into this, every dev I’ve met has a deep love for games but are forced to implement these tactics by the executives. Ghost of Tsushima is a good example of what happens when the executives let the artists make there art, while they handle the business and marketing, without sucking the soul out of it.
@@owenb6499 that’s a lesson to every person that harsh treat developers, be it executives exploiting then or fans hating on then, it’s not their fault, it’s the executives fault of not organizing a game development correctly and making developers suffer by forcing then to do a horrible cash grab game
@@Francisco-oz8yb oh yeah 100% especially with bigger titles, look at cyberpunk for example, the devs said to execs to not release it and its not ready, but they ultimately can’t do anything if a decision is made.
@@KobeLoverTatum Yeah , but we both know how this story ends. People will keep buying GOT and will also buy the DLC and anything else from that game. There’s people yet to buy the directors cut. As for cyberpunk, those 13.7 million copies is probably all they are gonna sell , they have also lost trust. Let’s not forget that GOT is also an exclusive title and was a best seller for the PS4. CD project are still probably spending the cash they earned trying to fix the game, while Sucker Punch have probably already begun development of GOT2. To think that cyberpunk was more successful than GOT just based on the sales would be mildly ignorant. No disrespect to you.
If Ubisoft is going to make an Assassin's Creed game set in feudal japan, they should really just give up cuz it's not gonna beat Ghost of Tsushima. It's even more depressing to see Watchdog's Legion's Assassin DLC looking more AC than AC itself.
The second thing mentioned is the craziest part! How is the parkour and assassination animations better in Watch Dogs than in the last 3 AC games!?!?! It just doesn't make any sense.
If they do, EVERYONE will see it as an attempt to do better than SuckerPunch, because there would be no other reason to do it. ALL gamers will compare the two, and one will certainly be found wanting. They will inevitably and miserably fail. It would be... a massive miscalculation.
The statement “Watch Dogs Legion’s Assassin DLC looks more AC than AC itself” is 1000% false. Valhalla is literally an Assassin’s Creed game. Even more so than Origins.
Yeah, and items and flowers can be picked up from horse, no animation, everything feels so user friendly in this game, every developer should take notes.
And the fast travel is just nasty, I play on ps5 and its just instant, tou can travel the map so fast, as long as youve been there once... the only thing I think that could have been better is that the mongol camps should show regardless of the fog in my opinion, cause theres really a lot of them, bust still, map traversal is a blast on this game
@DOOM let me guess what your fav game is, a mindless shooter with braindead bad guys. You enter a huge space, bad guys spawn, you kill them, walk through a small corridor, enter an area with a huge space, repeat. If it isn't, care to tell me your's? A guy who "clearly" played more games than me.
It's hard to compare games in different genres, but even if we limit this to open world action game there are a lot of them can give Ghost of Tsushima a run for its money. Assassin's Creed black flag, red dead, Zelda breath of wild, Batman Arkham knight, Shadow of Mordor, and Dark souls/bloodborne.
I got this game like a week ago and its soo good. This game has nothing i dont like. I just got the rope hook so im going to hunt for some armor sets. Love this game 10/10 imo.
When doing an act 2 temple mission where you hold off a mongol attack with Norio & the music blasting it was so cinematic & it gave the mission this aura & feeling that you're truly the last line of defense protecting these harmless peasants & monks. Such a masterpiece. There's many moments like that in game but that one stood out.
I never saw sparing Shimura as spitting on the samurais' honor code or a final act of defiance, I just saw Jin refusing to murder a family member he loved and respected.
The first time I finished the game sparing Shimura because I thought Jin turning from the Samurai code, denying Shimura's final wish, fit the story more. However, I completed my NG+ with killing Shimura. Throughout the game, Jin still believes himself a Samurai, but willing to bend the code when it's required to save lives. One thing that stuck out to me this time was Ishikawa's words; "Don't let the Ghost consume you", aka don't lose what makes you Samurai. Jin has shown throughout the game that he had honour when fighting those with honour, but when faced against the Mongols, there was no honour to be found. I saw taking Shimura's life as not only Jin's "final" act of being a Samurai, but him completely severing the ties to his old life as a Samurai. Shimura was too set in the old ways, too rigid in the Samurai code. When Jin is escaping, we overhear Lord Oda talking about Shimura's failures mounting up, and that the Shogunate would kill and replace Shimura if he kept failing. Shimura failing to kill the Ghost would cause the Shogunate to kill Shimura anyway. At this point in the story, Jin had moved past the samurai code, but Shimura had not, and never would. Him not dying after that duel would be an unbearable shame for him to suffer for the rest of his days. Jin killing Shimura is about sparing him that agony. Jin always knows what he has to do. Killing Shimura is what he has to do out of love for his stubborn uncle who will never change. The line that it follows choosing the kill option seems to imply that he isn't just killing out of love, but a desire to carry on Shimura's legacy. By honouring his final wish, he shows that he is still Jin Sakai, and not just the Ghost. Jin is his legacy, both in good, but also the bad in helping to create the Ghost, possibly even feeling like he failed Jin and Kazumasa as well. It is a moment where he, instead, declares that he will carry on their teachings in some form, even if he is the Ghost. Shimura expresses gratitude, smiles and asks Jin to "find him in the next life", further reinforcing this point. My thought is the ghost is a mantel Jin took to win a war. It's not who he is. The Shogunate took his land and title, but he is still the same honourable warrior he was at the start. Every good deed he did, every Mongol he put down for his land, held that honour. Killing his uncle showed him and Jin that he is still that man; An honourable warrior who does what is right.
@@Fukushima_Akira First of all I disagree with Jin being an a hero, he is an anti hero. Essentially a war criminal who relied on terror and brutality to win, but with the respectable cause of fighting for the liberation of his people from a foreign invader. Jin may have been a good and caring person in his day to day life, but war understandably made him ruthless, merciless and even monstrous. In the DLC per se you will see that his father was similiar to him in many ways, a great warrior who made his enemies fear him and even got himself the title of "The Butcher". Only difference between them is that "The Ghost" is seen as a necessary evil against an overwhelming invading force but "The Butcher" was an unnecessary evil against an already small enemy. So in short, Jin isn't an unambiguously good guy in my eyes, his very human nature is put into question many times throughout the game. But there is still good in him, and by refusing to take the life of a defeated opponent, refusing to kill his one connection to his previous life as a human and not a ghost, refusing to kill the man who raised him, he is proving to himself that the past still matters, family still matters, and that war cannot be allowed to take everything from him. But these are all just secondary thoughts really. My main reason for not killing Shimura is that I think him being alive will make for the most interesting sequel, since I found him to be the best character in the game (maybe below Kenji).
@@JimmyDaKoik Well Jin was no longer Samurai officially at that point and had absolutely no reason to uphold the arbitrary Samurai code that the devs decided to put into the game 😅, this entire notion of this Code was birthed during the Edo jidai, not the Kamakura Jidai .
@@nikosspyris Agreed 100 percent and I believe that Shimura will be alive, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a peasant or criminal beheaded and sent to the Shogun as proof of killing Jin.
I definitely understand the argument for sparing him and completing Jin’s transformation into the Ghost, but I don’t think him killing Shimura is out of character. While it could be seen as him trying to go back to who he was, I believe killing him, from Jin’s perspective, has nothing to do with his honor. Jin still loves Shimura, and while the spare ending obviously reflects that by having Jun refuse to kill his father figure, I think the kill ending reflects that by giving Shimura the death he wanted. Shimura has already been established as someone who will not change in his ways, so I think killing him is an act of love from Jin, allowing Shimura to die in accordance to his code rather than let him live feeling dishonored, and potentially even being executed/committing seppuku later on for that very reason. I think both endings are very in character for Jin, not from a perspective of honor or dishonor, but from a perspective of love for his uncle.
“I am not your son. I am…The Ghost.” -Jin Sakai to his uncle Lord Shimura. The excitement and chills I got just watching Jin say that to Shimura is unparalleled. The depth and scope of such a character to come into his own and find who HE IS, it reminded of me of when Ezio went from a carefree Italian boy to a man with a mission and purpose. Jin is a character I want to see grow more in more coming games. I hope there’s a GOT 2.
I have finished this game twice. The story and writing is so good. It also manages to be really emotional, even making me tear up on both my playthroughs.
bro the story was the most surprising and honestly strongest part of this game. it feels like a origin story too, i hope his story brings us more games.
(IKI ISLAND SPOILERS) I loved the continuation in ikis story as well, Jins guilt for his dishonourable actions and going against samurai ways, but also feeling the guilt for the brutality of samurai and the sakai clan. And leading up to the final moment where he is finally able to forgive himself for not helping his father, and others forgiving him, because ultimately Jin Sakai is not samurai he is the ghost.
Story was by far the worst part, writing is quite uninspired and cliche. The game doesn't even know what it's trying to be. On one hand they try to tell Jin's personal story, and force me to watch as he kills Ryuzo and poisons that entire castle of mongols, but on the other hand they still give you dialogue options and two different endings determined solely by player choice. Completely out of line and confused narrative that is extremely predictable and packs no punch at all. Game itself is pretty fun though.
Sparing shimura is the real ending in my opinion. Think about it Jin sacrificed the samurai code to save his people and in the end, he had a different take on honor. Jin sees honor in protecting the innocent, not killing his own family " I have no honor, but I will not kill my family"
It probably is or should be as Shimura talks about how people are going to defy the samurai since the ghost did. If Jin kills Shimura the people will follow the ghost's lead

@@Dumi232 I will agree if u say that GoT is better than Odyssey and Valhalla. But definitely not better than all AC. Ezio Trilogy, Black Flag and Origins are better than GoT
@@arthurmorgan7026 I Agree, Odyssey is trash though and Valhalla is okay in my opinion. I loved Origins though, the setting and story is so good even if the level scaling can be a little tedious at times.
The best thing bout this game imo is all the small details it has, that more often than not, are harder to notice, but feel truly impressive when you do. For instance, when it comes to combat, all the moves either you or the enemies pull are fully realistic when it comes to being blockables, ublockables and unparryables (eg a spear stab doesnt makes sense to be blocked by a katana, but makes sense to be parried, or a shield bash should only be avoided. Similarly, some weaker karana attacks can be just blocked, but if the enemy strikes with more force, you can only parry them). My favourite combat detail though is the way you learn the different stances, by either studying the strongest of the mongols (leaders) as they train (the game doesnt let you observe them unless theyre in a training sequence), or by defeating them in hand to hand combat (so learning their different moves by fighting them and slowly create a fighting style that counters theirs).
@@twinguy9633 it’s much better than the recent assassins creeds I hate the new ac games because it doesn’t feel like ac anymore it’s kinda sad that a different game company made a better assassins creed than assassins creed
A very amazing game. The combat is the highlight of the game. Ppl who hate on this game are non-gamers, who only know fortnite, who have the attention span of a child with ADHD.
This is actually the first and only game that made me cry. That’s how I know it was (and still is) an amazing game. Everything was gorgeous from the scenery to the combat. Definitely deserved the game of the year award
Many might have not done this.. But I actually didn't Assassinate anyone.. I never used the poison darts.. or the other things stabbing in the back.. I actually always faced my enemies head on , And it was actually more fun.. I respect the samurai code Because It is my favorite tribe and I know everything about them.. but in this situation I really am with jin , To fight a monster you have to become one.. he sacrificed everything for his people , his clan , his uncle , his pride , his legacy, everything... The samurai code blinds them sometimes , they had to bend in for the fight against mongols.. With that honor code they can't beat them.. But them again when I played I never used dirty tactics even on lethal. This game is absolute amazing.. It really teaches you how Everything comes at a cost, Jin is a great character with a lot of tragic.. Watching his father die and living in a castle without His parents.. being betrayed by his best friends and Famaily.. sacrificing his entire clan and uncle for his people.. That Alone is just honorable and respectful.. This game is absolutely brilliant.. the depth.. the combat, the costumes, the stances and armors.. the side missions, the duels and the mythic tales.. everything in this game is just brilliant and it is so beautiful.. I finished it Three times , platinum trophy , completed the new game plus and iki island.. It should have been the game of the year.. It was a wish come true Having to play an open world samuei game in Japan , because they are my favorite thing.
If ubi didn't improve assassin creed by adding more grounded AC elements and if sucker punch makes ghost it's main IP. Then surely ghost will become assassin creed , And assassin creed will become like an EA Game that nobody cares about.
@Adam Jensen loads of people still care. Even people who don't like Valhalla still seem to care as I see them in every Valhalla comment section on this channel.
I downloaded the game for free and played half way through the game on my jailbroken PS4. I was so amazed by the game that i felt guilt playing it for free, i thought i needed to appreciate the developers of this fantastic game. So i bought a PS5 and bought the game from PSN.
Man I remember when this game was first teased. I could not explain how excited I was to get a fleshed out Samurai Game, and after all that waiting, I finally bought it. Let’s just say they definitely used every minute of those 3 years.
I completed the base game yesterday. by far my favorite armor was sakai clan armor. Good to soak damage as well as dishes out massive melee damage not to mention you can clear 5 enemies by duelling them. My play style involved more of sword play than stealth, infact i barely used the darts unless its an objective. Yeah so i liked the sakai armor.
It won the Player’s Choice award which is much more credible and respectable than GOTY which is pretty much decided by journalists whereas the Player’s Choice was decided by votes from actual players. Ghost of Tsushima and other titles battled for 3 days to see who would get it and it was GoT that ended up getting the gold.
@@christopheryanez player's choice is the real GOTY, the GOTY that isn't chosen by players is just a way to appease sjws as seen with TLOU2 getting it LOL
Justyouraverage Homestuckfan TLOU2 is a joke, Naughty Dog thought having a “Last of us Day” would keep the game relevant and Sucker Punch made a co-op multiplayer and a story DLC and were grateful for the support from fans lol
This is one of the best game I’ve played. I’m still at act 2 and I’m already excited on my next play through. Great story, memorable characters, beautiful landscape, bad-ass gameplay and lots of builds to try. Worth every penny.

Finally got my hands on a PS5 just a couple days ago (was only an Xbox player) and this game is phenomenal! I love it. The beauty of Japan and the samurai wow
Loved the longer video, wouldn't mind more :) But seriously, you managed to do a bigger review than usual but maintaining the quality, congratulations.
What an amazing game. Pure quality. You can tell they put so much care and effort into it. One of my favourite games of all time for sure. P.s. I love the Ghost armour as it actually had an Edward kenway vibe and made me feel like an assassin
ghost does it right when dealing with quests, gameplay and content. every assassins creed games map is so cluttered with little shits everywhere it feels so overwhelming and there's too much of it.
This was the spiritual successor or true prequel/sequel to Tenchu that I have always been waiting for. Throughout the whole game I could not stop thinking how it is somehow related to Tenchu. More of a prequel where the honorable samurai were forced to become ruthless stealth assassins and thus the ninja were born. By the end of the game Jin was more like a Ninja than a Samurai. This feels like something that could have been a prequel to the Tenchu games. The combat, the stealth mechanics, the exceptional atmosphere. A near perfect game if there ever was one.
This game reminds me a lot of The Dark Knight (Batman). Like the ending: "1: Why is he running? 2: Because we have to chase him. 1: He didn't do anything wrong. 2: Because he's the hero Tsushima deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. The Ghost." Modified from "The Dark Knight" Also from the movie and you unknowingly said the exact words that Bruce said: Alfred Pennyworth : [while in the underground bat cave] Know your limits, Master Wayne. Bruce Wayne : Batman has no limits. Your words "The Ghost has no limits" Also the irony that he commits "disgraceful" kills with the blade meant for keeping your "Honor". Love this game, by far top favorite ever played.
Recent AC Valhalla player here: after 120 hours, I can say I “like” the game. Now to my main point, IM HOPING SUCKER PUNCH MAKES A VIKING GAME. War axe or dual axe combat? Bows ? SHIELD WALLS!? DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON NARRATIVE. Would be amazing. I know it’s YEARS down the road if they do but man I feel like they could essentially take anything Ubisoft has done with AC and just make it better. Fun fact. Valhalla and Tsushima came out the same year so it would be funny to see the 2 devs switch and compete in this way.
Straight up the biggest surprise that ends up continuing to delight. First game that ever compelled me to play online vs just playing the solo campaigns. Best game of all time.
Great video MA! I love Ghost! My #10 top game of all time! I love the rebellion to become the ghost. I thought Iki island was pretty good- but short. But it did add to the overall story. Ghost is what I wanted current AC games to be- but they just aren't. I've always wanted a Ghost vs. Valhalla video- but it's clear Ghost would win out by far!
Honestly, I don't even care about ac anymore. This game is so much better in every way, not even the best parts of ac can compare to the worst partsof got. And ac is budget god of war nowdays anyways, that doesn't even come close as well. Ac can have their gay vikings and strong independent female soldiers, I'd rather play gow and got any time.
Bought the game 2 weeks ago and i freaking love it. I got a PS5 and an HDR TV and it looks absolutely amazing. In many reviews I red that the game "doesn't look as polished as other AAA Games..." But I strongly disagree. This might be the best looking game I've ever played. Especially the environment and lighting is some of the best out there. Bravo SP
Doesn't look as polished? What review said that? I'll grant that more linear games look better on a raw graphics level. God of War or TLOU2 look better on an individual asset level, but Ghost is an absolute joy to behold when you have everything working together and as a complete visual package is more "beautiful" than any open world game I can think of.
this game was a dream come true for me, as it was for everyone who loved it. the one and only game i consider as incredible as the witcher 3 (my other favourite game of all time). i really hope sucker punch continues this game with a sequel. it’s truly a 10/10 masterpiece.
GOTY 2020! Just riding around Tsushima and taking out Mongols has this therapeutic effect. Plus there’s no micro transactions and filler like AC. Sucker Punch just wanted the players to have and not grind 4 hours to level up for one mission 🤷🏽♂️.
@@oliverseager8154 that’s very weird opinion lol, GOTY means GOTY. Not Game of the Year that isn’t a Console Exclusive or Best PC/Xbox/PS game of the year. If a game is praised by a vast amount of players as an incredible work of art and a memorable fun experience whether or not it’s exclusive to a platform...it is very much eligible for GOTY but even at that most GOTY awards are decided by a lot of sorry ass journalists. Ghost of Tsushima won the Player’s Choice Award which is a much more credible award than GOTY considering that the award required actual votes from people as Ghost of Tsushima and other titles battled each other for 3 days to see who would be the Player’s Choice. That game ended up being GoT.
@@christopheryanez I understand where you're coming from. It can't be fairly put into something like that when compared to games that do have a full player base. That also being said, it's definitely deserving of that title, but it shouldn't get it, because its not a game most people can experience.
This was the only game ive platinum'd and played through twice and enjoyed the 2nd run just as much as the first, still getting chill from the most pivotal moments in the game
I was looking forward to this game but never expected it be as good as it was. It was literally perfect, the music, the aesthetics, the characters, missions etc.
It still blows my mind that this game didn’t get GOTY 😢😢 the way you broke the details down about this game explains why this should have made GOTY. Beautiful story and Jin’s character development , amazing graphics and scenery, and the music is just outstanding 🤩. Hope we get a part 2
Just got my ps5 a couple months ago and I was deciding between Ghost of Tsushima or AC:Valhalla. Though, I haven't played Valhalla I am confident that I got the better of the two, I was into AC before it was an RPG and really wanted a Feudal Japan setting for the game. I can't imagine AC team topping this at least with the whole "genetic memory flashback" aesthetic/theme. I was really immersed in the story and the gameplay and it was just so pure. Thank you SuckerPunch!
Absolutely brilliant analysis. I haven’t played this gem of a game yet, but you’ve inspired me to get it. I don’t own a PS5, but I’m sure it will still shine on my PS4 Pro. Thank you for your passion for video games. It’s very infectious! 🙏🏻
I agree whole heartedly. This is the AC we needed and deserved. Ubisoft had THREE chances on the PS4 to get it right and they failed all 3 times. Suckerpunch got it right the first time
I just bought this game last week on my ps5, its phenomenal In my opinion and I can't choose weather or not I love it more than rdr2, it makes me hate myself for being a blind last of us 2 fanboy
This game sounds amazing, I'll definitely add it to the list of future games that I'll get when I finally get a better pc or a ps4, and believe me, the list is sooooooo damn long now. Wish me luck guys, luck in life
I got the collector’s edition for this game because I had absolute faith that this game would be great. Sucker Punch has only made good games. All of their games are at least an 8/10 and the best games are easily 9s. This game rightfully put Sucker Punch at the big boy table with Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Santa Monica, and Guerrilla Games
Personally, I feel like killing Shimura is the something he would do to respect Shimura’s belief in code, not because Jinn was reverting back into the Samurai.
That's what makes it such a cool choice. Who do *you* think Jin has become? What kind of mindset do *you* think he would have at that moment. You chose to kill him and you were right. I chose to spare him and I was right. We're both right, just for different reasons:)
That’s the thing tho, you’re trying to make your Uncle realize the code he has always kept an iron grip on is flawed and it resulted in a lot of bad shit happening that could’ve been prevented if things were done differently. He even goes as far as following the Shogun’s orders to kill Jin without too much hesitation at all due to his strong belief in the Bushido code. He then takes it further by asking you to kill him as his final wish so that he can go out respectfully as a samurai while not even considering the pain and trauma Jin will live with for the rest of his life. Shimura never fully realized why you did what you had to do so I spared him in hopes of one day reuniting with Shimura who will hopefully have a different and positive perspective on Jin. Personally it doesn’t make too much sense to kill Shimura after everything you’ve done, sacrificed, and been through.
@@christopheryanez but Shimura could also feel dishonoured and could come back of Jin. Demanding another battle where you can still choose to spare him, or help the Samurai be at peace and show him that you still respect him and his beliefs, and kill Shimura like the samurai he wants to be.
This game was so beautiful and it caught me off guard. Like, I didn't even know what to do when confronted with a beautiful scene, I just stare at it for minutes. And the combat... Just "Wow". This is what I want for Assassins Creed to achieve but they did not. For years I've dreamed about an Assassins Creed Samurai theme, but with Ghost of Tsushima out, I could not ask for more. Kudos to Sucker Punch for creating this beautiful game.
It’s one of the best games ever made, I’m a big samurai/ninja simp so that’s a wet dream for me this game. Every time I play it I’m in absolute awe such a great game and the perfect swan song for the ps4
Ghost of Tsushima is better than Assassin's Creed in pretty much every way possible, The cutscenes, the combat, the animations and graphics, the story, etc. no micro transactions as well !!
There is one point that people often don’t notice or realize at the end of the game when you decide what to do with lord shimura. The ghosts influence on the people is great, so great that he has an army that he didn’t even know about. If Jin were to kill lord shimura, the jito and ruler of Tsushima, the people supporting the ghost might reject the samurai. The ending isn’t just a battle with Jin’s emotions, it’s also a choice between doing right by his family (honoring lord shimura) and badly influencing his people, or leaving lord shimura devastated but being the correct influence for the people
This is a game Ubisoft could not even dream of making now days.
The combat alone is 10 times better than Valhalla and Odyssey combined.

If Im some random swordsman and I see the guy who's been taking down entire outposts single handedly, perhaps I shouldn't even try.
And also itl be cool if they escaped then you will face a much larger entourage with tougher armors

Don’t drag the devs into this, every dev I’ve met has a deep love for games but are forced to implement these tactics by the executives. I never saw sparing Shimura as spitting on the samurais' honor code or a final act of defiance, I just saw Jin refusing to murder a family member he loved and respected.
For myself, I killed Shimura because it's what he wanted, and if I hadn't, he would've been dishonored, disgraced and executed by the Shogun anyway.
I am…The Ghost.”
-Jin Sakai to his uncle Lord Shimura.
What I love about this game is that wherever you are I’m the world there’s a beautiful sight to behold and every combat encounter feels like an event

2: Because we have to chase him.
1: He didn't do anything wrong.
2: Because he's the hero Tsushima deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. The Ghost."
Modified from "The Dark Knight"
Also from the movie and you unknowingly said the exact words that Bruce said:
Alfred Pennyworth : [while in the underground bat cave] Know your limits, Master Wayne.
Bruce Wayne : Batman has no limits.
Your words "The Ghost has no limits"
Also the irony that he commits "disgraceful" kills with the blade meant for keeping your "Honor".

That soundtrack is sooo good & I haven't even played the game yet
Norio is a prime example of what the people could be, the last warrior monk followed the way of the ghost which let Norio prevail over his enemies.
AC Shadows, will never be a great game as a GOT. Which is sad!
But GOT, is something else, what a game!
@@artvandalleigh7894 i think it was the review from IGN that said so, could be wrong. But I agree, it's stunningly beautiful
Imagine if in Ghost of tsushima 2 Jin has the ability to use his enemies weapons with the same depth and flexibility of his sword stances.
this game was a dream come true for me, as it was for everyone who loved it. the one and only game i consider as incredible as the witcher 3 (my other favourite game of all time). i really hope sucker punch continues this game with a sequel. it’s truly a 10/10 masterpiece.
GOTY 2020! Just riding around Tsushima and taking out Mongols has this therapeutic effect. Plus there’s no micro transactions and filler like AC. Sucker Punch just wanted the players to have and not grind 4 hours to level up for one mission 🤷🏽♂️.
Imo, nothing that's restricted to one system type (PS exclusive) should be eligible for GOTY.
But I've always disliked these exclusive titles, I own both systems so I'm not just butthurt about missing out on stuff, I believe that for a game to really win awards it shouldn't be cut off from 65% of the gaming player base. It can't be fairly put into something like that when compared to games that do have a full player base. That also being said, it's definitely deserving of that title, but it shouldn't get it, because its not a game most people can experience.
This was the only game ive platinum'd and played through twice and enjoyed the 2nd run just as much as the first, still getting chill from the most pivotal moments in the game
the ending till this day still makes me cry😂
I was looking forward to this game but never expected it be as good as it was. It was literally perfect, the music, the aesthetics, the characters, missions etc.
Last of Us shouldn’t get the Game of the Year awards. Ghost of Tsushima should be claiming it.
cry more
It still blows my mind that this game didn’t get GOTY 😢😢 the way you broke the details down about this game explains why this should have made GOTY. Beautiful story and Jin’s character development , amazing graphics and scenery, and the music is just outstanding 🤩. Hope we get a part 2
Even the dlc is awesome,I mean I didn't really expect the dlc to dive so deep into Jins character
man I wish it was longer and it was short and sweet.
This game beats every single assassins creed game combined
The real villain of the story was the samurai code
Just got my ps5 a couple months ago and I was deciding between Ghost of Tsushima or AC:Valhalla. Though, I haven't played Valhalla I am confident that I got the better of the two, I was into AC before it was an RPG and really wanted a Feudal Japan setting for the game. I can't imagine AC team topping this at least with the whole "genetic memory flashback" aesthetic/theme. I was really immersed in the story and the gameplay and it was just so pure. Thank you SuckerPunch!
This definitely has to be the best game I’ve played this year best combat mechanics and it’s smooth. Ubisoft could never do this
My favorite mission was when he unlocks the ghost stance i wished the fight with the kan was a bit more explosive i don't know what the right word is
Amazing game! Will definitely get the Director's Cut whenever I manage to trap the magical unicorn that is PS5
Suckerpunch got it right the first time
i gotta say dude, ur edit made me shiver. both bcs of ur music and ur narraion it goes really really well, keep up the amazing work dude
I just bought this game last week on my ps5, its phenomenal In my opinion and I can't choose weather or not I love it more than rdr2, it makes me hate myself for being a blind last of us 2 fanboy
I'm happy that with the new updates we can replay the mongol areas and duels without starting a new game. Now there is something to do
Best sword fighting game ever definitely a 10/10
im actually currently replaying through it now. soooooo good
This game sounds amazing, I'll definitely add it to the list of future games that I'll get when I finally get a better pc or a ps4, and believe me, the list is sooooooo damn long now.
Yes you are correct.
Well, I’m glad that I didn’t kill him. In that, I can stay as a renegade
All that being said, this game has a one hell of a story. Amazing game!
It’s one of the best games ever made, I’m a big samurai/ninja simp so that’s a wet dream for me this game. Every time I play it I’m in absolute awe such a great game and the perfect swan song for the ps4
Should’ve been GOT😓, easily one of my favorite games EVER
Ghost of Tsushima is better than Assassin's Creed in pretty much every way possible, The cutscenes, the combat, the animations and graphics, the story, etc. no micro transactions as well !!
Waiting for a PC release to be able to enjoy this game to the fullest pls sony
There is one point that people often don’t notice or realize at the end of the game when you decide what to do with lord shimura. The ghosts influence on the people is great, so great that he has an army that he didn’t even know about. If Jin were to kill lord shimura, the jito and ruler of Tsushima, the people supporting the ghost might reject the samurai. The ending isn’t just a battle with Jin’s emotions, it’s also a choice between doing right by his family (honoring lord shimura) and badly influencing his people, or leaving lord shimura devastated but being the correct influence for the people
I have 200 hours in story and 300 in Legends. Amazing game
This was my game of the year in 2020 ngl bro i like this game more than spiderman 2 tbh
After this review I’m definitely going to buy ghost of Tsushima
Everything from gameplay to sound is beautiful.
